Baby Back Ribs (1/2 order) Pork and Beans, Cornbread, Mac and Cheese
    Karen L.

We hadn't been to Baby Blues BBQ for 11 years! I can't believe it has been that long! We decided to drop in Friday night and I'm glad we did. The staff is so welcoming and nice and the restaurant looks like it did 11 years ago, which in this case is a good thing! We ordered tri tip that was perfectly cooked, and baby back ribs that were tender and fall-off -the-bone. We all loved the homemade mac and cheese and the pork and beans as well. The mashed potatoes were okay as was the cornbread. Luckily, we saved room for banana pudding for dessert. The pudding and the key lime pie were both delicious made from scratch treats. We will definitely be back before 11 years!

I love this place. I'm not sure who's southern auntie is back there making the Mac n cheese, but she ain't playing around! Tbh, I think about the key lime pie in the middle of the day, sometimes - and it makes me smile. It's home-made and you can't buy a better slice anywhere in LA and beyond! Trust me on this.

Saw this on Tripple D. Did not disappoint! All meats were moist and flavor full. Great sauces from hot to sweet. Cornbread was moist and not too sweet. Coleslaw was supper tasty. Great music great vibe and super clean. Staff was very welcoming and attentive. Bathrooms super clean! Over all great place! I had a 3 meat plate way too much food. So yummy I passed most over to my hubby. Husband had a Tri tip sandwich. He said it was really really good and a basket full of fries. Inside seating and a great patio. Definitely recommend.

Tried all the sides since I am a vegetarian. Went there especially for the Okra and hush puppies. Love the Okra. It's very Ja-crispy. Hush puppies come with a side of honey butter that taste good. Wish it had more cinnamon since I couldn't taste it much. Corn bread was sweet and buttery. Beans are sweet and ok. Wanted a corn on cob but menus were different. 1 read Blues on the cob another read Grilled Corn. Collards green were good. And Mashed potatoes turned out to be the real "Bomb" Place is worth the try!

First time here and the food was amazing and the staff was so kind. The ambiance was casual and not as busy. Drove by this place a lot and did not know that food will taste amazing.Oh and the corn bread is so delicious!

Haven't been here in 15 years but I'm so glad our friend asked us to meet up here. We had the butcher block (serves 4-6). There were 5 of us and we had lots of leftovers. Lots of BBQ sauce options.

We ate on the patio. Weather was perfect and love the bq vibe. We tried some of the lunch specials, kids menu and the hush puppies were a hit. The pork bq ribs were tender, smoky, and succulent. Fernand was friendly and patient with the kids. They loved the Kool-aid choice!

Came for take out. In regards to the take out experience 3/5 We ordered and sat by a nearby table to wait for our order to be called. Our order took approximately 30 minutes for it to be ready. When it was ready, we were not told or called by name when the order was ready for us We had to ask another waiter for any progress upsets on our order. That is when the waiter brought a bag to us saying it was ready. This was a bit frustrating because we don't know when the order was ready. Although a waiter asked us if we had placed a take out order and after saying that we did, it would have been helpful to have a waiter check on our order & let us know that it is being done or will almost be done. I think having us have to check to see if our order was finished, was poor customer satisfaction. Perhaps today was an overly busy day or perhaps someone had called out. I always like to keep an open mind for these things, as this can happen & I like to not place blame for these slight inconveniences Food: BBQ Brisket: very tasty, unknown plastic on the meat On the other hand, after coming home to eat, we found odd plastic on our meat that we almost ate, not knowing it was plastic I am not sure if the cooks forgot to take the plastic off the meats or maybe this is common on BBQ brisket to have some plastic on it while being cooked Macaroni: was not a huge fan of the macaroni. The cheese had a slight odd taste (personally) The rice: tasted like rice-a roni, very tasty & flavorful The corn bread has corn and maybe nuts inside. Not very sweet (personally) Overall the inside was clean and the ambiance was moderate noice level. The cashier was kind and the table we sat at to wait for the food was clean. They have TVs inside. I will give this spot another try as I like to try places more than once to see if this was an "off day" or not. Next time we will try sitting in.

If you're cruising down Lincoln in Venice and your stomach starts growling for something primal--something meaty, smoky, and soul-satisfying--pull over and walk into Baby Blues BBQ. You won't regret it. The vibe is vintage Southern grit with a Cali edge--laid-back, a little loud, and full of flavor (and smoke). This is not a place for your vegan cousin unless they're just here for the mac and cheese, which--let's be real--is a damn good reason to visit in itself. What to order: The ribs? FALL. OFF. THE. BONE. The pulled pork? Juicy and flavorful. The brisket? Come on. Get it. And don't skip the cornbread--it's got that honey-kissed top that makes you close your eyes a little when you bite in. The sides deserve a shout-out. The collard greens are legit, the baked beans have that backyard BBQ taste, and the mashed sweet potatoes are practically a dessert. Portions are generous, so come hungry or bring a friend to split and still leave stuffed. Parking: It's Venice, so it's a gamble. Street parking only. Ride your bike or Uber if you can. Staff: Chill, friendly, fast with the sweet tea refills. Price: Not cheap, not crazy. Worth it. Final verdict: Baby Blues is where you go when you want barbecue that hits your soul--not just your stomach. No pretense. No frills. Just real-deal smoked goodness with a SoCal twist. Yummy

Awesome BBQ spot. We had our office happy hour in the patio and everyone loves the food. Wings, ribs, coleslaw, and the hush puppies were a big hit. Service was excellent. Thanks to owner Liz for making it a great event

Dined in on 2/25/25 around 6:30 PM: We didn't try any of the BBQ and only came in for the banana pudding! It was really delicious and in my top five banana puddings in LA (have been to 10 spots as of 2/25/25). I like that the nilla wafers stay crunchy since they are incorporated as a topping rather than sitting in the cream and banana. It was also not overly sweet and had a nice amount of banana bits for the portion size. Service was super fast and friendly! Ambience is casual, unmetered street parking is easy around the corner. Bathroom was clean.

Ambiance: it's a popular bbq place located on Lincoln blvd, street parking only, the restaurant is divided into few sections, one takeout counter, two dining rooms, and one corner spot for large table Service: both servers helped our table were very friendly, and accommodated specific request, although a bit slow and forgetful, had to remind a couple of times to get water Food & Drink: plenty choices of meat for sandwiches and platters, combination choices have the best value, the meat generally tasted good by itself and with four sauces on each table, regular BBQ, Sweet, Hot, and XXX the very spicy sauce Baby Back Ribs - *** a bit disappointing, tasted very dry Memphis Style Ribs - **** tasty smoky meat, recommend Sliced Brisket - ***** so juicy and tender, a must-try here Tri-Tip - ** overcooked and tasted rubbery Cornbread - **** recommend Mac & Cheese - *** too mushy Chicken Smoked Rice - *** salty and spicy Fried Okra - **** crispy and tasty with dipping sauce, recommend Coastal Drift Hazy IPA 7.0% Eureka/ CA - **** easy to drink, recommend Price: generous protons and reasonable prices, expect about $35 per person for a very hearty meal with some take home leftover

Do they still sell the big Beef Rib I haven't seen it since they reopened?

Yes, I had the beef rib when I went less than a year ago. They don't have it in the menu because it tends to sell out so you have to ask if they have it that day.

We just came here and saw the restaurant closed with the sign "we will be back soon." But then there is a review posted just 26 hours ago so you guys were open just yesterday. Are you guys closed for good?

I believe there was a fire there

Hi! Do any of your locations have live music?

    Nope

Do they offer any discounts for military?

Hi Richard, we sure do! If you are in uniform we do 50% off, non uniform with ID is 20% off. :)

Wondering if you have Gluten Free options?

Yes we sure do! When you come in, please feel free to ask your server specifically about our allergy chart. Here are a few things that we have that are gluten free: Wings…

Do they seat up until closing?

Yes, we do. Sunday-Thursday we close at 9pm. Friday and Saturday we close at 10pm. :)

If you've been to a popular BBQ place in the South, you're no stranger to the lines. I've been to APL at two pop-up locations: Ayara Thai in Westchester & Gin Rummy in MDR/Venice. The latter (and current) location, Gin Rummy, has seating, so it's a better experience. Ayara is a Michelin-listed Thai place, but Chef Adam was serving out of the back & there was no seating. So far, Ive tried the burnt ends (9/10), beef ribs (9/10), lamb chops (9/10), and pork ribs (7.5/10). To put this in perspective, I would not score any of these items anywhere else in L.A. higher than a 7/10. Yes, some of the sauce can be overly-sweet, but the craftsmanship that goes into smoking the meat is unparalleled in L.A. And, yes- I have a charcoal smoker at home and make decent brisket and ribs. As other reviewers have mentioned, prices are high, portions are large, and there's almost always a wait, so best to go with a party of 4 or larger so that you can sample more of the menu. And, they should add one more order kiosk and add one more person to cut the meat in order to move the line quicker. I could eat this BBQ every week. Bon Appétit!

Everything came out very burnt and crispy. I suspect that is their style of BBQ. It worked for some things and less so for others... My favorite was the tri-tip. It worked well with the char on the outside but the meat still retained its tenderness. It was very flavorful. Some of the wings were good -- crispy on the outside, but other wings were too dry. Same with the ribs. I was initially excited for this, but as I continued eating, found that some of the ribs had really dried out. I thought that the collards worked well with the super charred bacon bits, and the mac and cheese was very creamy. However, the corn bread was a bit dry, which is a shame, because I thought that the cheese might have saved it with a bit more moisture. Overall, I might come back to try different options -- and probably stay with things with the tri-tip, but avoid the other BBQ meats.
