Go to spot for BBQ in West LA. The casual spot is good for diving in and ordering to go. They're our go to now for 4th of July pre-ordering. First off, the server and the staff were very friendly and service was top notch. The whole restaurant smelled like delicious BBQ. Also, never realized they had parking behind! It's not a large lot, but we got a spot! We went a few months previously for Taco Tuesday night and had a wonderful time, 5 stars. However, this week was very disappointing. I checked the website and socials, and as recently as the first week of June their IG had a post about Taco Tuesday, so I figured they were still doing their specials. One getting to the restaurant, the server informed us their specials were just $4.50 a taco or the birria taco plate (which was on the printed menu, so didn't seem like a special). Also on the menu, normally was the 3 street tacos for $14. Maybe they don't do Taco Tuesday every week, or only when the post on socials they are doing it, but that makes it very hard to plan. Ended up ordering the burger and fries. The burger was very good, good flavor. The fries seasoning was spot on and delicious. Friends we were with ordered other items (not tacos...). The mac and cheese was disappointing - was more milky / creamy than cheesy. Don't often get a free Tuesday night, so unfortunately will be finding a different place to do Taco Tuesdays at now. read more

I would say Maple Block is one of the best BBQ options in LA. As many reviews mention LA is not a traditional BBQ city so many love to point out their favorite BBQ restaurant in other cheaper states, but that is not helpful at all in reviewing this particular restaurant. Driving out to Tennessee, North Carolina, or Texas tomorrow is not an option. Inside is fairly large and can host many different sized groups. We were a table of two but sat next to a table of six. Our waiter was very polite and everything that we ordered came out surprisingly fast. They don't have a dedicated parking lot, but we were able to find a metered street spot directly out front so it was really easy for our Saturday dinner. The menu is not very large, but it does have a lot of great combination options on it. For this visit, I chose the two meats and two sides and opted for brisket and tri-tip. Usually brisket is my favorite but this time I think it was the tri-tip because it was extremely flavorful, juicy, and just really hit the spot. We also ordered the cornbread starter and biscuit and both were fantastic. The cornbread is a bit rich so it would be better to share for a group of three or more, but I would definitely recommend the biscuit. Overall, a really solid BBQ option in LA for a fair price. The first downside thing is it is impossible to view their menu online. You click on menu and it asks you to download the menu and that page is jacked up and displays weird code. There really isn't anywhere to just look at the menu online and after a few minutes of getting the runaround trying to see the menu you lose interest in this place pretty fast - it's frustrating. I came here for a birthday and the food is actually pretty good but at the prices they are charging you really should get significantly more food than they give you. I got a half pound of beef brisket ($27) and it came with 2 small sides ( I got mac n cheese and cole slaw) - and after $35 (including tax & tip) I still left hungry. Came last sunday with a friend and left with the biggest smile on my face (and the fullest belly)! I live right around the corner and had passed by so many times, i'm so glad i got to finally stop by. first and foremost, this place has indoor and outdoor seating. the inside is nice and dim, has a bar - perfect for a date! the outside is a little more simple but has ample seating for a group of friends. Our server was very attentive, checked in on us and brought our food out in good timing. the food itself was incredible! i forget the actual name, but i got this hash scramble plate that had potatoes, bell peppers, onion, smoked brisket and a fried egg over the top. it was incredibly delicious. my friend got the 2+2. the ribs are freaking insane, my friend gave me a taste and i almost regretted not getting that instead. it melted right off the bone, had good flavor even without the bbq sauce (which was also tasty - the spicy bbq was my favorite and also poured it over my skillet). i paired my plate with an iced coffee which was just as rich. the reason why i left with the smile was because we were treated to a smoked cookie! i wish i caught her name but our server was such a sweetheart for this. it was soft and warm, melted right in my mouth. everything was incredibly filling! what a great experience, i look forward to coming back! read more

A friend of mine was visiting and had asked for American BBQ. Aside from small backyard setups, I'd never been to a proper BBQ spot, so I came in with open expectations, safe to say I was pleasantly surprised. We had a group of 8 and collectively decided on "The Feast" as it saved the headache of picking individual cuts. As you can see from the photo, the variety of cuts alone made it a very aesthetic plate, if you weren't hungry before you will be when it hits the table. The chicken and sausage were spot on, well-seasoned with a nice crust. The general consensus on the brisket was a little over-seasoned on the outside while under-seasoned inside, and leaned slightly dry. The spare ribs were solid, not quite fall off the bone tender, but still juicy. The sides were all great, with the cornbread standing out. I usually avoid breads because of the dense, gooey texture while chewing, but this one won me over. The contrast between the crust and soft interior worked beautifully, and the flavor was excellent. The Feast is well worth it if you want a good variety of meats, though we did miss out on the turkey. The service was great, our server was very patient and explained the menu step by step, even recommending certain options based on our preferences. However, they do feel a little understaffed, as she forgot to bring us our plates and silverware, but we could see her running around keeping busy so we could hardly blame her. Nothing against the service but we did had to get up and request certain items (utensils, napkins, menus) after waiting for 5-10 minutes each time out of respect. Perhaps an issue with outside sitting? Overall, a great atmosphere, solid food, and friendly staff. I got the sliced brisket (not on the menu) and my friend got the regular brisket sandwich. Wow. It hit the spot. I feel like the photos I took capture the essence of the sandwich. It is flavorful and satifsying. The cold slaw is not sweet and with a bit of tang. I am normally a burger guy, but this brisket sandwich is making me consider what I really am. I wasn't too hungry so the sides were just a bonus. I didn't even want them, but they came with the sandwich. Instead of fries we tried the potato salad and the mac and cheese. The potato salad is really good. If you like potato salad get this. It's filling and sophisticated (for a potato salad). The mac and cheese I felt like was mostly mornay and less actual cheese. I like my mac and cheese, thick and cheesy. This was more mornay-ey. My friend liked it though. The service was super chill. We came in the middle of the day on a weekend and it was fairly empty. Maple Block nails it every time. They have a solid barbecue menu but the specials are also standout. We look forward to their monthly Steak and Martini night featuring specialty steaks, sides and martinis. We were there for the most recent Steak and Martini night (usually the second Friday) and this time they had Picanha on the menu, our favorite cut at the churrascaria. It was done to charred medium rare perfection and was so flavorful, it didn't need any of the sauces offered. We also had a Caesar, with whole crispy romaine leaves, with the right balance of Parmesan and dressing. And I started with the smoked wings, meaty wings with the kiss of the grill. We tried the green beans which was new to the menu and wasn't really a hit and we mentioned that, and they took it off the check. We usually choose indoor seating but the patio is a great and pup friendly vibe too. It's just a great spot for families or meeting up with friends. Parking is easy in the lot in the back and also on Sepulveda and Washington. A special shoutout to our favorite server, Bree, who remembers what we order and checks on sides that aren't on the menu and makes them appear. I had been to the Grand Central Market location a few times, but I had never been to this full location. This was definitely a more well-rounded experience. The food? Excellent. I loved the Spare Ribs and Sausage Link here. The only thing I could say is it would've been a bit better if the link had been more spicy or seasoned. The baked beans were amazing and the mac & cheese was thick with flavor. The service was great. They checked on our party just enough and were quick with everything--ordering, bringing the food, refills, &c. I thought the environment and mood was great. It might have been the bourbon talking but I think it's just impossible to have a bad time here. Came here for lunch with a couple colleagues and had such a great experience! Warm, lit interior with high tops and a nice, full bar, lots of outdoor seating with wooden picnic benches. Our server, Drew, was very welcoming and genuinely took pride in their meats. He recommended The Pitt Master Feast so we could have a taste of everything. The Pitt Master Feast included 1/2 lb of brisket, 1 lb pork spare ribs, 1 sausage, 1/4 lb pulled pork, 2 sides and choice of skillet cornbread or buttermilk biscuits. We opted for the ranch beans, Mac n cheese, and cornbread as our sides. $98 and was plenty for 3 of us. 2 meats and 2 sides cost $35, so the feast was a decent deal. The ranch beans had some chile and burnt ends while the mac n cheese was super creamy. I kind of wished they had some collard greens though. All the meat was delicious, but the brisket and the ribs were outstanding, so tender, flavorful and smoky. I Loved the cornbread with poblanos in it and the honey butter on top was the icing on the cake! I was tempted to try their Bloody Mary, which looks like a meal in itself, but it was during work hours, so I had their refreshing iced tea brewed in house. Stopped by Maple Block Meat Co in Culver City to try out their meat offerings. My group ordered brisket, tri-tip, turkey, chicken, mac & cheese, and some coleslaw. Brisket ($40 a lb) - This was the best meat item here. It was soft, juicy, tender and fell apart easy. It didn't have as much smoky flavor as I had hoped for but it was good. Tri tip ($34 a lb) - The tri tip was a little tougher than the brisket and didn't have much in the way of flavor. Mac & cheese ($15 -pint) - The mac and cheese here was pretty basic, and started to clump up after cooling down. It definitely didn't impress. Smoked chicken ($31 - whole) - This was by far the most disappointing meat. It was only slightly better than the Costco rotisserie chicken, with a slight smoke taste. Smoked turkey breast ($16 - 1/2 lb) - This didn't have much in terms of flavor and was a little dry. Creamy slaw ($17) - The slaw was way too creamy for my liking and not crispy at all. Skillet cornbread ($13) - The cornbread had some jalapenos mixed in and was moist and tender on the inside while maintaining a crispy exterior. Overall, the brisket and corn bread were good here. Most of the other items were just ok or missed the mark. They have limited street parking and a tiny lot in the back for about 8 cars. read more

Came here randomly and am SO happy I tried it. The space is bigger than it appeared from the outside and the smells were appetizing as we walked in! There is a nice sized outdoor space and small parking lot if you'd rather relax outdoors - it has a pleasant ambiance with a covered patio and some more tables and benches covered by umbrellas over turf. Food: I ordered the bbq breakfast burrito with smoked brisket, scrambled eggs, white cheddar, avocado, tater tots, pico de gallo and chipotle aioli which came with a side of green salsa. All of it was delicious - more than enough of a portion for one person (two people can safely share this especially if you get a side of esquites). The esquites were delicious, served in a cup as a starter and great to share as well. I had no complaints about my burrito- the portion was good for the price, the ingredients were fresh and the burrito was prepared very well. I poured salsa and bbq sauce from the table over it with every bite but honestly didn't need to - it tasted great on its own. Service: Really good service, we were frequently attended to and had our orders taken and food delivered pretty reasonably quickly! Appreciate the nice server who saw me running from a bee at the table and kindly collected it and let it free elsewhere. Overall a great experience. We came on a Monday night and were seated at a high top table. You can smell the smoked meat as you walk in, so that is already a pleasant feeling. This has great reviews for a reason. We ordered the guacamole and chips...that was the only thing we didn't love, and mainly because we got sidetracked and forgot to ask for fresh chips. The chips were a little stale. We ordered the pork on the side and the kids loved it. The Kale salad was excellent with fresh ingredients. It was great to share for our family of four. We ordered the smoked turkey, chicken, pork ribs, a burger, and a side of fries. EVERYTHING was seasoned well, full of flavor, and moist. I'm going to have my fam from TX check them out the next time they're in town. This place is the real deal in terms of smoked meats and definitely worth the trip. I've been here twice for dinner. The second time for DineLA. Service is consistently excellent and warm. It's a big space with 3 seating areas, including outdoors. They have a small parking area in the back where you can also see where the bbq happens. I had some tacos off their Happy Hour menu. Good prices and great deals on Taco Tuesdays, like $2.50 tacos! I was happy them although my friend thought not enough meat came with it and she's had better barbecue. The jalapeño cornbread in the skillet with honey butter is addictive!! Their creamy cole slaw is also stellar. It's only $5 too as a small side. For Dine LA dinner, I tried two meats, brisket and pork spare ribs. It's cool you can choose between lean and fatty brisket. I got my $35 worth in food, 1/2 lb of ribs alone. The ribs were amazing- tender, fall off the bone and smoky! The brisket was salty but balanced with their sweet, tangy sauce. The side of jalapeño corn bread was thick but underbaked. I was disappointed. Not sure if this was from an off batch. The pickled onions and pickles provided acid to an overall balanced meal. The side of Mac & cheese is very creamy, though didn't taste cheesy. The cheesey cracker crumbles added interesting crunch. The DineLA smoked cookie was big and cakey, not overly sweet. Didn't taste smokey. If you have room for dessert, the banana pudding is excellent! They have combo specials, hamburgers, sandwiches and salads. A good section of alcohol and cocktails also on the menu. While a great spot for Happy Hour, it's also family friendly. Great spot for bbq for fair prices. I went to lunch with a big group, so we had large trays and plates delivered to our table so that we could select what we wanted to eat. Our waitress was very nice and the service was great handling the large group of folks. The meat tray had ribs, brisket, bbq pulled pork, and smoked turkey. All of it was delicious. The turkey was not dry at all which tends to happen with turkey in general. The ribs were very flavorful and the pulled pork and brisket were both soft and tasty. We also had salad and grilled veggies along with some beans that had spices and meats in them. The beans didn't have much flavor, but all of the veggies and salad were good. The real star of the show, however, is the cornbread. It is so tasty and has plentiful butter baked into the top portion and it balanced out the perfect sweetness of the cornbread. It did come in a bread basket with biscuits that had pieces of salt on the top of the biscuit. To be honest, the biscuit was dry. I kept trying it because I really wanted to love it, but it remained in the shadow of the fantastic corn bread. I had chocolate bread pudding for dessert. It was a bit too rich. After getting a small pizza not too far from here, we were still hungry (typical for us foodies). We4 found this place on yelp and surprisingly I had it saved in my bookmarks. We haven't had BBQ in awhile and wanted some good comfort food. There was an event happening in the patio so we sat inside. Place gets a bit busy so make sure to try and make a reservation ahead of time or come early. The restaurant itself is really nice and has a welcoming feeling inside. Our waitress was pretty amazing too and let us know what the favorites were. We even got to meet the manager of the restaurant and he was really cool. I wish I remembered his name. My boyfriend and him hit off really good and he also invited us to his restaurant in DTLA. As for food, we ordered the Taster. It came with brisket, pork spare ribs, sausage, pulled pork, biscuits, and two sides (mac n cheese & fries. My favorite was the brisket because it was soft and flavorful. Paired with their house BBQ sauce even made it better. The ribs were tender and cooked with perfection and the pulled pork had a nice tangy taste to it. Mac and cheese was on the cheesier side so made me full pretty quick. Fries were amazing and had a crisp to it. Fun fact: I ended up leaving my purse there and the waitresses put it at the register so they were nice enough to hold it until I got back. So it's DineLA week and this was a place that me and my coworkers chose to meet after work yesterday. I swear I've driven past this place a million times and never knew that it was hiding a big secret: THIS PLACE HAS THE BEST BARBECUE IN TOWN! So first off there is street parking all around the area, so you shouldn't have a problem finding something close by. When we initially walked in, we were greeting by the hostess with a warm smile and asked if we wanted to sit inside or outside. We decided on inside and she sat us at a nice booth with an adjoined table. Once we sat down we noticed the outside patio looked really nice, so we decided if we were to come back that we would eat out there next time. Well we will DEFINITELY be back, because once our order came out and I took a bite, I was in HEAVEN! Compliments to the chef because they take pride in their food by the way it was marinated, seasoned, and flavorful. I am not the biggest pork eater, but that pulled pork was THE BEST I'VE EVER HAD. It didn't even need barbecue sauce (which was tasty too). I didn't want to stop eating it! Then I got to the Brisket which I chose a lean cut, and it was sooo flavorful and so tender you can eat it with a fork! The meal came with cornbread while although it was cold, it was still fluffy and sweet. Last but not least, the mac and cheese was soooo creamy and cheesy! I mean it came in a little 1/2 pint and I was already getting full. For dessert I had a cookie and that was the perfect way to end a meal. Would I go back?: A MILLION TIMES OVER. We had Father's Day reservations at 7 When we showed up we waited 15 minutes for our table to be ready so we headed to the bar. Then after we ordered our drinks , we were told by the bartender that there were no meats left. Don't understand how they weren't prepared for Father's Day especially after taking in so many reservations. It ruined our night with every other restaurant being busy at the same time. I have to be honest, there is no way they smoke the brisket or turkey. The meat is good enough to eat, but just roasted or baked and there is a ton of salt/smoke seasoning. This is typical for LA because real good BBQ is really only in Texas and missouri. This place should he considered a meat counter with prepared meals. BBQ sauce: lose serious points here. There was only ONE flavor on the table and it was very mild and kind of watery. I have never been to a BBQ restaurant with only one option for BBQ sauce. This is a one star. I am a brunch girlie, mkay.! This place doesn't disappoint one bit. My mum and I wanted to grab a bite to eat after church so we came here. The vibes here remind you of bbq season. The outside has tables with umbrellas and pretend grass. I got the brisket and potatoes (chef's kiss) and my mum got chicken and French toast. Our food was amazing . The service was even better. We also indulged in bottomless mimosas, they bring you a kit with juice on the side. Very reasonably priced and I will be returning every chance I get. P.S. street parking only. read more

One extra star for the cornbread. The food here overall is so bad, I'm sorry. The cavatappi for the mac and cheese was so hard (far beyond just al dente) and the cheese sauce tasted a bit off (ton of bechamel, not enough cheese). The brisket was dryer than the Sahara desert. I couldn't eat more than 3 bites and had to toss it. Someone else got the wings and said they were tough. The biscuit was burnt to all hell. However, the cornbread was amazing. Very moist, nice sweetness, and delicious with the peppers and the whipped honey butter. The rest of the meal was real rough. read more

I was in search of restaurants in Culver City, and I had previously seen this come up and wanted to know what it was all about. It also helped that we were able to make reservations, but when we arrived, it was very empty, and we realized we didn't even need to do that, but at least I was proactive lol. The service and employees were decent, and I was looking forward to the experience this place has to offer. From the menu, there were many options, though everything seemed a bit expensive from the sides to the main course, but now I had to see it through. I chose the 1 meat and 2 sides(brisket, fries, and beans) for $27 and biscuits ($14) for the table; yes, I know prices are higher nowadays, especially for BBQ, so I hoped it would be worth it. When the food came, I was wondering if maybe my order was wrong, as I only had two pieces of brisket, and after seeing that, I already knew I was going to be hungry after. The beans were not good at all, as I'm often used to sweet and savory, so I switched them out for the coleslaw, which was whatever, though the fries were fine. I was excited for the biscuit, but they were surprisingly drier than Popeyes, and when we asked for honey, it took them forever to bring it as they were getting it from the comb, and that didn't even help the dry biscuit. The brisket and the BBQ sauce, but the two pieces definitely messed up the whole experience, and the sauce was very runny. Took a trip to Culver City for BBQ, the parking was around the back into an alleyway. (minimal parking) I was greeted and seated by a very friendly woman. The waitress came to take drink orders. After deciding what to order the waitress was very friendly and helpful. I ordered brisket fries, baked beans, cornbread, and pulled pork. The food was good. 7/10. The atmosphere was fun and festive; projector on the wall( sports playing) and indoor/ outdoor seating. read more
