This has become our go-to lunch out spot. The owner is absolutely a delight and her husband is incredible with the dishes. They have the best lunch special in the area. We usually combine the regular 2 roll combo with the special 2 roll combo and it's plenty of food. Their rolls always seem to catch us by surprise. They're packed with flavor and absolutely gorgeous presentation. The best part about the menu for the special rolls is they categorize/label the special rolls by makeup; such ass "Seafood" or "fried" ect. and they color code label the types of sauces they are topped or marniated with. This gives anyone an opportunity to truly know what they're ordering and to try new things. It's something I've never seen before and I greatly appreciate. Additionally, they are always incredibly generous. I found that 4 out 5 times we went, they gave us something "on the house." They make you feel like family. It's a fun lunch and/or dinner spot. I live right in town and had NO idea they were there! We decided to give it a try instead of going to our usual sushi spot. They really did a nice job fixing up the place very clean and minimalist. I loved the ideas of writing little posit and leaving messages on the wall! Service was great. The young lady was very polite . She had brought some pork dumplings to our table and we explained we did not eat meat . She quickly reappeared with a tasty seared salmon sashimi. The staff also wanted to give us rice of soup but we were saving our hunger for the main event! The sushi was so fresh and tasty wr had three and my favorite was the Godzilla. The edamame was perfect just the right amount of salt. The Kani salad was good but could use a tad more spice to it. They also gave us a little cup of fresh blueberries at the end and I was shocked at how well it cleaned the pallet! This is somewhere we will return to soon!! read more

My sister and I were in the area and were craving sushi. We saw that this establishment had just opened so we wanted to check it out and wow, it did not disappoint. Each of the rolls tasted unique and most importantly all the ingredients, especially the fish were incredibly fresh. The service is very nice and attentive. The atmosphere is really non existent post it notes and drawings all over the walls. Hip hop, pop music playing. The fish for the sashimi was fresh and very good. The fish for the rolls seemed sub par, very chopped almost mushy consistency. The problems were, that it wasn't quite right, what I mean is, the soy sauce tasted off or watered down. The green tea tasted very perfumed, not actually like green tea. The shrimp tempura had a very hard deep fried coating, there was no tempura sauce. The shrimp shumai was ok, no sauce for that either, which in my experience is odd. One of the rolls that was supposed to be spicy yellowtail had an odd peppery spice unlike what I've experienced in many other Japanese restaurants I've frequented. My husband really hit the nail on the head when he said it was like an an imitation, someone tried to duplicate Japanese cuisine but just slightly missed. My three stars are for the service, very friendly, the sashimi quality, and the soup and salad. Just not what I expected with so many rave reviews. read more

Work has been busy so I've recently been ordering take out from Nam's sushi. This time around, I was able to bring a couple friends and they're now all converts. We splurged and got ourselves one too many special rolls and nigiri and we did not regret it. I love the freshness of the fish and the flavor profiles of each roll. The rolls are all so unique and different from one another. If I had to choose, my favorite would be the North Haledon and Heart Break. It's also BYOB which is always fun. This was my first visit to Nam's Sushi. It was a Saturday at 5pm. Sign on the door says closed for an hour starting at 3:30pm but no mention on the web site. I ordered the Vegetable Yaki Noodle. I enjoyed my meal with chopsticks while watching traffic and listening to Ozzy Osbourne and Hall & Oats. It came with some rice which was the dry clumpy Chinese Food type that I usually throw away. The rest, however, was great. Lots of slurping pursued since I decided against utensils, fork in particular. I also received a complimentary serving of Pork Gyoza which was nice and a first time experience for me. I went back next Saturday for North Haledon rolls for takeout. read more

We loved KENKO Sushi in Lincoln Park which TripAdvisor awarded as Best in New Jersey. We sampled take out several times and I have to say the Chef at Nam's can cook!!! AND the food is equal or BETTER than Kenko's. Rolls we have tried so far and ENJOYED... Tried the 'North Haledon' with shrimp tempura, Hamachi Dream with yellowtail tuna, 'Passaic' with spicy tuna and SEARED shrimp, LOVING YOU with shrimp tempura, salmon, lots of masago and a nice Citrus zing to the flavor and FANTASTIC with eel, crab, tuna, salmon, shrimp and of course was Fantastic! (Can you tell we love Tempura) Miso soup is SO DELICIOUS. Looking forward to sampling their sushi, sashimi and other novelty (taco? Nachos?) sweet and savory offerings. The although I don't even like maki, I was happy to say that nam was an acception and the maki was great (I don't know how you can mess up maki). The other time I ordered is when I got the fried rice. It was flavorless and tasted like nothing. The time that I actually went there in person the service was pretty good as the workers were super friendly and the food came very quick. The ambiance/vibe was great as it gave off cafe'ish vibes and I also appreciated that you can leave supportive sticky notes with reviews and complements on the wall and just thought that was neat. I would give this place a 5 star except the rice was absolutely flavorless and unseasoned. I think i'd rather drink a liter of battery acid then ever consume the fried rice again.
