This was my second visit to Tempura Place. It was a Saturday at 3:30pm. I had never eaten any kind of sushi in my 50 years and I decided to dive in here. I've ordered the spicy tuna and the spicy crab. Sense a theme? I guess a total of one person could technically eat-in but this is primarily take-out. I was informed it would take 10 minutes to prepare but it was done before that. I watched Korean Broadcasting Company on the television as I waited. I experienced pleasant service and great food. New owners raised a lot of the the prices, reduced the portions, and changed the recipes. Ordered the spicy combo and an elite roll, which has been one of my go-to orders for years, and luckily the combo is still the same price. The spicy rolls tasted weird. They were a lot spicier than before, but something was missing. Soy sauce helped a little, so maybe the sauce is lacking salt? The elite roll was just bland. You got unseasoned shrimp tempura, cucumber, unseasoned shrimp on top and then the eel with just sugary syrup. No smoke, no salt. These were all there before. It's a shame. I'll give this place another shot in a few months to see if things improve because its walking distance for me. read more

BEST SUSHI EVER! If I could give this place 10 stars I would. We are huge sushi fans, we eat sushi at least once a week, if not maybe even twice. We always had to go so far away to get decent sushi. When we found out this spot was opening in our own home town, we were ecstatic! The owner is super friendly and sweet. He takes his time and puts HIS ALL in creating beautiful delicious sushi. We are frequent customers and he knows me by name. We get about 5-7 rolls all the time. The rolls are very generous and super fresh! They are all beyond delicious, but our favorites all have shrimp tempura in them, and now they just added soup to the menu and oh gosh it is so tasty! Just in time for this cold weather. They do not deliver, and the place is very small but when I tell you it is so worth going to pick it up, it is WORTH IT! Please support this small business. I would love to see him grow and continue for years and years to come. Delicious handmade sushi, at awesome pricing and excellent customer service is hard to come by. This place is so small and on a busy street you may have passed it without even noticing it's there. Don't be fooled by its appearance though, this place has HUGE rolls with big flavor and personality! The staff is so kind, even gave me a complementary green tea while i was waiting for my to go order. The portions are absolutely huge! I ordered 6 rolls for 2 people and it could have fed 4!! You usually wouldn't spot such a place if you're driving by, but if you do get lucky enough to see it, you should definitely try the sushi here! I got the Tempura Chicken Ramen from their 'Winter Special' menu as well as a Spicy Salmon Roll off the regular menu. Both items did not disappoint. The chef made both items fresh; fried the chicken tempura and rolled the sushi right in front of me! It doesn't hurt that the chef is very polite and friendly! Would definitely recommend. read more

I didn't realize until I googled sushi near me that this place even existed and I'm so glad that I did! The sushi is fairly price, it's fresh, and the owner is so nice. I called in and he was very welcoming, my boyfriend went to pick it up and he said he was very nice as well in person. We ordered the basics like spicy tuna, shrimp tempura, spicy California, and a philly roll; no complaints whatsoever. My boyfriend & I came here to try this cute Place! They opened up in October but we only found out about it a week ago. They have good prices for BIG pieces of sushi!!! Very fresh and well put together. Some sushi places, the sushi will fall apart trying to dip in my soy sauce but not here at Tempura! Also the owners are incredibly friendly. We talked about Asian foods, the neighborhood, and restaurants. Very nice to have a good chat with nice people. They also have different kinds of sushi rolls, which is nice to have instead of the normal rolls every other sushi place has!
