Went with a group of 7 for all-you-can-eat sushi and had one of the worst dining experiences I've had in a long time. We waited about 35 minutes to be seated and were sat around 8:00 PM. We ordered immediately, but by 9:00 PM we had only received one miso soup, a small portion of teriyaki, and a few drinks (which themselves took 20-30 minutes to arrive). No sushi or other food ever came out, despite the restaurant only having around 10 tables. After waiting over an hour with essentially no food, we decided to leave. We still left $50 to cover what little we received. As we were leaving, staff came outside yelling at us, which was completely unprofessional and unnecessary. I understand restaurants can get busy, but the lack of service, communication, and the way we were treated at the end was unacceptable. Unfortunately, I won't be returning. read more

This is a small establishment in North Haledon, NJ. We were not very hungry but we didn't want to cook last holiday weekend (President Day). We just had Thai and Italian a few days ago, so we were in the mood for some Japanese. Instead of going to our usual restaurants in Bergen county, we decided to be a bit adventurous. We googled and found Arigato which is ranked quite high like 4.6 (on Google). We figured it is all-you- can-eat, you have a variety of items to choose from. There was only one couple when we arrived around 5:15pm. $32/person is typical for all-you-can-eat in Bergen County. Typically we would order 5-10 pieces of sashimi to share among us. We were surprised to find out sashimi was not included. Not a nice surprise but it is ok because we don't eat much of it anyway. We ordered a small salmon salad to share (tasted fine), then some sushi rolls. The fishes on the sushi did not look or taste fresh. The only one that didn't taste "fishy" is the salmon avocado. Every sushi except salmon avocado came with big chunk of rice underneath it. We were full quickly. I was not happy at all but we didn't want to take it out on the waitress who was really nice. I would rate the service to be 5 star (we were one of only two tables the whole 45 minutes) and food to be 1 star. This was my first visit to Arigato. It was a Saturday at 5pm. I ordered the Chicken Teriyaki Donburi but was refused since it appears to be a take-out only item for some reason so I ordered the Chicken Teriyaki dish. I enjoyed my meal while listening to background pop tunes and watching traffic pass by. The miso soup was great as was my meal. One of our favorite spots for AYCE Sushi! BYOB. Decent price. Fresh food. The servers are attentive and friendly. The restaurant/bathrooms are super clean! The appetizer choices include a little something for everyone. They have a lot of special rolls on the all you can eat menu. It's definitely easy to order too much food, so start slow because you are charged regular price for any leftovers. It's never happened to us because we finish everything, but it's in bold letters on the menu! I would highly recommend making a reservation most nights - it's a tiny place that gets busy! read more

One of my faves. Local spot that is always fresh and delicious and the hostess Nikki is great. She always makes you feel welcome and appreciated! Miso soup is not overly salty and they have a nice selection of special rolls and veggie rolls. You MUST make a reservation here because it gets packed. The only issue I ever have is that they I really don't always have brown rice and I can't really have a white rice because of my dieting sometimes they had it sometimes they don't so it's hit or miss. read more

This place is the greatest sushi place in the country. I have only been coming here for a couple of months but I can't stay away. I come back here every single week. The staff is so nice especially nicki and she remembers you and is just so welcoming. The food is amazing. I recommend trying the spicy tuna balls. I could eat like 100 of them. The sushi is top notch and fresh and the food comes out very fast and efficient. The place is byob and has a great view. Unfortunately because of Covid there is less seating but they are taking great precautions and doing every bring they can. Tried this sushi joint for the first time during COVID and the customer service provided as a small business is unmatched to other tiny sushi places in the area. I ordered 4 rolls and was very surprised to receive pieces of nigiri at no extra cost with my meal. Seriously, what sushi place literally gives away pieces of nigiri!? Also, the actual rolls themselves which tend to be fairly basic were super fresh and extremely tasty. This has been my favorite go to sushi spot for a couple of years, have tried different ones but nothing compares. The host and servers are all really nice. Went here for lunch with my daughter last week for the first time here and were pleasantly surprised at how much we enjoyed the food. The server was extremely busy but still managed to provide us with exceptional service. This is small place in a quiet town with great food. I don't think picking it up does it justice. I'm not fan of all the one time use plastic containers and having the food sit, allowed it to overcook and cool down but it was still good. I got a Dinner Box, i chose salmon and chicken(they ran out of shrimp), it came with A California roll and some other little fried things (that I'm not sure what you call them) and salad. The chicken was pretty good. The salmon and the sushi were both delicious! The salad and chicken were both good as well. My wife got a chicken teriyaki Bento box, similar to the dinner box with one meat and no extra fried goodies. We also got a tuna avocado roll that was exceptional. We'll defiantly go back to this place. The sushi and salmon were both top notch. I'd avoid picking up from places like this because of all the one time plastic use, and I'm sure we would've enjoyed the food more if we ate it there. read more

Their selections of appetizers is small, and seaweed salad was extra charge Overall the sushi was good, but when we found a hair in our miso soup we ordered at the end of the meal, they did nothing for us. I said they should at least not charge my friend who found the hair in the soup- nothing. I am not ok with establishments that do not seek to right a wrong, especially one as simple as this. Overall, Great AYCE sushi spot. I've tried a few others in the area but always come back to this one. Pros: Delicious sushi (especially the specialty rolls), good appetizers, decent service, amazing price. Can't beat it for $20. Cons: LIMITED SEATING. There are about 8 tables in total and this place is quite popular. Plan to make a reservation before coming here or risk being turned away. Parking is alright. It's part of a small strip mall. But usually it's not too much of a hassle to find a spot. Also wish their restaurant hours were better. However, definitely check this place out if you're looking for great sushi at a great price. Where's the fish? Arigato offers an all you can eat that is by order, not a buffet. I have been here several times and each time the quality goes downhill. My daughter and I were there recently and we each had soup appetizer (I had salad) and two rolls that we shared. The rolls were mostly rice. When we ordered a third roll to split between us, it was all rice with a teeny tiny piece of fish. I wish I had taken a picture of all the rolls and not just the 3rd one. Judge for yourself. Then cheap all you can eat, where the food is not so great. Arigato is the best of both worlds. The options for all you can eat are endless and tasty! (Not to mention the appetizers). I love all you can eat with solid appetizers choices. How you order: When seated, you fill out a paper with your desired appetizers and the amount next to each. The server then comes to pick it up while you look over what sushi you would like to order. Be sure not to over order. A tip, start smaller then order more if you'd like. Dinner AYCE = $23 per person Lunch AYCE = $20 per person The service is very friendly and helpful if you are stuck on what to order. I especially favor the menu. They have pictures all of the special rolls (what a life saver). I hate ordering sushi that I'm not familiar with then end up hating it because it wasn't what I thought it would be.. such a waste of money.. better yet, ROOM IN MY STOMACH. Excuse me, I was ranting.. The only thing, since the restaurant is smaller it tends to fill up rather quickly. You'll end up having to wait some time. I tried this place for the first time after looking at Yelp reviews. During COVID they only have takeout (no outdoor seating), but I can't wait to be able to actually sit in because the place had the cutest atmosphere. The lady who took our order was very kind. For $20/person, this is about as good as ayce sushi gets. This is the cheapest ayce sushi option I've found in this area, but it's about the same quality as the more expensive alternatives. I came with 3 friends on a Saturday at around 7:30. I'm glad we reserved because it was a full house. We started off with kitchen entrées - peppered tuna salad, beef negamaki, spicy tuna balls, deep fried tuna, and white fish teriyaki. Although some people stray away from kitchen appetizers in order to fill up on sushi, the cooked options here are actually pretty good, and they didn't make me feel like I was wasting valuable real estate in my stomach. We also ordered just about every special roll on the menu over the course of four rounds, along with salmon nigiri. The most noteworthy include tebow time, what the ???, and the Viagra roll. To be honest, most of the special rolls taste the same since they involve the same few ingredients that are reassembled, then doused in the same spicy mayo sauce, but they still taste good. Sashimi is not offered here as part of the ayce deal, so we stuck to ordering nigiri instead. The cuts of fish on the nigiri are pretty thin compared to the amount of rice, but that's to be expected for the price. Service here is actually amazing compared to most ayce places - we were constantly attended to, given the correct orders, and offered new order sheets consistently. They also give fresh fruit at the end of the meal. A few things to note: the space is pretty small so be sure to reserve, especially on weekends. Additionally, they stop giving out the kitchen menu after the first round, so order all the cooked foods first. Parking is pretty easy - there's a small shared lot in front of the restaurant. I have no idea why the location in Edgewater costs $5/person more, but $20/person at this restaurant seems perfectly reasonable to me. Arigato will likely be my new go-to spot for ayce sushi! read more

This is an all you can eat sushi restaurant. It's somewhat small so it's best to book a reservation to lock in a seat. Pricing is reasonable. The menu offers variety of Japanese food including tempura. The sushi roll names are incredibly creative - they have rolls named "NY Giants", "Tebow", "Viagra" etc. I can't remember the last time I laughed looking at a menu. There's no need to be embarrassed when ordering "Viagra" because they'll give you a piece of pre-filled menu paper to write down how many rolls etc. you would like to order. The rolls are beautiful and delicious. The sushi (specific orders of fish like Tuna and Salmon) is questionable because their colors are freakishly artificial. I personally do not like sweets that much and their sauces are very sweet. But if you like sweets, there's plenty here. The service is excellent and the restaurant is very clean. read more

Ok, here it goes. The restaurant is super clean. The food tastes very good, you can tell the fish is fresh and they don't jib you on the fish. The service is also very good. So, why only three stars? We came here for AYCE sushi and discovered hand rolls and sashimi are not included with AYCE, those are extra. When you consider the price point here is also few bucks more expensive than most other places that include those items, one is probably better off going elsewhere for AYCE.
