    Tom Yum Koong soup
    Rob M.

This is a nice hidden gem at the Daytona Flea Market. If you like Thai food you will like this place. I had Tom Yum Koong (soup with shrimp) and it was very good. Be careful with the soup as it is served extremely hot. The prices are very reasonable and the employees are very friendly. The also keep the place clean and well kept.

Fantastic and I expected snack while exploring the flea market. Dumplings pan seared were wonderful and surprisingly meaty!

Who knew I'd find comforting Vietnamese food across from the Speedway!…read more I had just flown into Daytona Beach and, after settling into my hotel room, I came to Mama's Kitchen for dinner. Right away, we were greeted by a young lady and gentleman, and were directed to sit at one of the tables. The restaurant was clean and spacious. They had a cute little Vietnamese cart in the middle of the restaurant to bring a bit of Vietnam into its design. They also had a wall with a beautiful drawing. We ordered a few things from their menu, starting off with egg rolls and Bahn Mi with sweet potato fries. Whatever dip it came with was delicious - and that's coming from someone who doesn't like the orange sweet potatoes! We also ordered entrees such as their Bo Kho and Bo Ne. Both stews were delicious. For drinks, we had a Tamarind drink and a Kumquat drink - both of which were refreshing. Overall, I really liked the food here. And the decor was simple and the service was attentive. The gentleman who brought our food out was also very careful with making sure there were no peanuts in any of our dishes. I'd love to come back here again on my next visit and try a new dish!

We did not order any beverages other than water. The service was very slow and I almost got up to remind our server that we had ordered food and were still waiting. I sampled my wife's pho and found it had a good flavor. The tendon and tripe were over cooked and a bit mushy. The other meats were cooked ok. The plate of condiments (bean sprouts, basil and peppers) were very skippy. At $18, I felt the Pho needed to be better. At $20, the Bo Ne lacked in a few areas and following this dining experience I probably wouldn't order it again. First off, I ordered this dish because it looked good and from the picture. On the menu it says "Vietnamese beef tenderloin" on the menu. The dish I was served looked much different than what I saw on the menu. The pickled carrots and radish must of had the day off on this night. Back to the tenderloin. In my years as a chef, I will tell you that there is only one piece of meat that is more tender than any other cut of meat from the cow and that is the tenderloin. What was served me was closer related to a tough cut or sirloin that tightened up so much when cooked, that every piece of meat I had to chew and chew to get past the grizzle. Once chewed, I needed to remove the meat from my mouth. See picture of the bread basket for the remnants of their so called beef tenderloin. The sauce that the meat was swimming in had a good taste. The liver pate was bland and was melting away into the sauce of the dish. One positive note about the experience is that the bread was superb! We may go back again sometime in the future but not any time soon.

Utilizing OpenTable, we made reservations at 12:15 p.m., where we were promptly seated in a bar-top booth. Our server was Djenne. Upon realizing that the promotional offer was per person (misleading email and intent to share), that it would exceed our appetites, we opted to order from the regular menu. We selected Chicken Lettuce Wraps and the Teriyaki Chicken entree, accompanied by white rice. Our beverage choices were the Lemondrop martini and the Golden Buddha Mai Tai. Initially, the service was somewhat delayed due to the rapid influx of patrons and Djenne's simultaneous management of multiple new tables. Upon receiving our food, delivered by other server team members, both the wrap and entree were well-prepared and flavorful. However, our experience was marred by the initial slow service and the necessity of requesting the special menu with the three-course meal. It is advisable to refrain from advertising value menu items online unless you intend to inform dining customers of their availability. While we generally enjoy the food and service, this visit left us somewhat disappointed and did not meet our customary expectations. We intend to return, but we will not be in a hurry to do so.
