The soup dumplings are solid here! We got the chicken and crab/pork dumplings. Both were delicious but for peak flavor you have to eat them piping hot! Next time we'll have to try the vegetarian soup dumplings! We got a few side dishes as well. The shrimp and cheese dumpling were different but still good. Ordered takeout the other day. Thought I'd try this place because it was highly rated. I came away with the impression that the ratings are either botted or people didn't actually eat the food. The signature soup dumplings were mediocre at best. Scallion pancake with beef was dry and oily - not awful but not enjoyable either. The real low point was the sesame chicken. Would not recommend, while the food is nice the service is not so great last time I went in this lady double charged me for no apparent reason and both time adding tip which for a lot of people isn't much but to a normal person on their own it leave a dent. We had a delightful and tasty experience. The food options were quite interesting and made it somewhat a challenge this first experience in selecting foods we'd love. With some help and insights from the server staff we made homerun selections and can't wait to come back. We opened with the wontons in spicy peanut sauce (6 pieces), Beef Scallion Pancake (unexpected plating, yet SO GOOD), the Nan Xiang Signature soup dumplings (we'd rate them only 2nd to Petite Sow Chow in Cliffside Park NJ which for us are #1 and worth the wait). We came here because it is much closer to us than their cherry hill or philly locations and we are so glad we did! Although the store front is basically not frills, it is very clean and the service was super friendly. 8 don't like that you have to order form a QR code, mostly because ours was not working, but a server came by and took our order as soon as I mentioned that the technology was not functioning. Let me cut straight to the chase- GET THE FRIED PORK CHOPS. Yes of course get whatever else you want, but these pork chops were amazing! They were perfectly marinated and juicy, the pictures do not do them justice. We also really liked the beef Scallion pancake (although it needs a sauce with it) and the sesame chicken. The pork dumplings were a bit underwhelming, so it would have been better to go with the soup dumplings but we were in pork mood clearly! I would absolutely return and try put other stuff on the menu. The menu is not too large, but they absolutely have a decent variety for everyone. I also loved seeing the cooks making the dumplings up front, ironically everyone that was working there was asian EXCEPT the two Latinas making the dumplings. We were excited to find out a Nan Xiang Express opening up 30 min from us b/c I've heard raving reviews about Nan Xiang but they're all too far. In hindsight, we probably should have waited a couple months to let them work out the kinks. The place was very understaffed. We only saw 1 bus lady who couldn't clean tables fast enough (felt bad for her) while customers sat at dirty tables. We saw only 1 waitress, which may explain why it took a long time (30+ min) to get our food, and 2 of our orders were lukewarm. They really should hire more people on weekends. Onto the food, soup dumplings w/ crab meat is pretty flavorful however the skin was on the thicker side. The vegetable steam dumplings were delicious. The pork chop was so over-fried like eating pork jerky. The wontons with peanut sauce were not bad. Sorry to say we're underwhelmed. Solid food in a clean location with plenty of table seating. Service from start to finish was attentive, quick, and friendly. It's a good choice if you want something fast that's a step above fast food. We've been going there primarily for the soup dumplings, as there are very few places to choose from in Mercer County. The pork soup dumplings taste very good and have a good size. They're on par with the good, handmade ones from Shanghai Bun, but you're also paying $2 an order more here. My wife also enjoyed the crab soup dumplings. The wontons in spicy peanut sauce are also very good (although not super spicy), and I brought the leftover sauce home with me to use as a flavoring on rice. In the world of non-dumpling choices, the Scallion Noodles nicely flavored, chewy, and not limp and lifeless, and I've ordered them a couple of times now. The cold cucumber side is a solid choice as well. The scallion pancake was okay, but nothing to write home about (it needed more scallions). The hot sour soup has been the only thing I've had there that I'll definitely not try again--it wasn't all that bad, but it wasn't all that good either. Overall, the friendly service is what made the difference between three and four stars. On the negative side it seems a little pricey. That said, it's a good choice for a fast, tasty meal, and there are more items on the menu I'm looking to try. read more

Cucumber salad was a bit meh compared to the other locations. Dumplings were all solid. Beef scallion pancakes were great. Miss the truffle dumplings in this Express model. I would say if we had gone up to a counter and ordered our food, then this place makes sense. For a sit down and no self serve options, service was something left to be desired. I wavered between a 3 and 4 star but in the end, I think this place has a lot of good things and potential. We had the rice cakes with chicken which was good but a touch on the salty side. I don't know what's going on and it may be me but restaurants around here have been a bit heavy handed recently with salt. Soup dumplings. Very good, soupy and tasting really good. I don't know, I think they should mix the ginger with the vinegar and soy sauce for you as it is pretty standard but that was ok. I would have like them to slice the ginger a little more finely. That would have made eating them a bit easier with the sauce. The spoons were a little small so much of the soup fell on to the plate. Got the pan fried dumplings and these were also good. I think I would like them a touch bigger but they did taste very nice and no sauce needed with these as the filling was more than pleasing. The place is nicely decorated and modern.
