I was referred to Dr. Nancy Yee by a friend and I couldn't be more grateful. Dr. Nancy, as I refer to her, a excellent dentist and a kind and caring human being. I first made an appointment with Dr. Nancy because she offers one-visit crowns. It's difficult to make the time for repeated dental visits that are typically involved in getting a crown and this was a great option. During my second and third appointments I returned for several fillings and teeth cleaning and a final small filling. I have a long-standing fear of pain from unpleasant childhood dental treatments,. Dr Nancy is extremely gentle and sensitive. She gave me two Novocain shots to prepare for the work that needed to be done and said she has kind hands that can feel how my body is reacting to being injected. With these words I experienced a release of years of fear. Dr. Nancy was very sensitive to this and told me to breathe and to experience the feelings and take the time to let them pass. After years of clenching my whole body in anticipation of pain during any dental work, I was able to uncross my legs and arms and the death grip of my fists. It was a very transformative experience to be able to let go of this fear. I have been going to Dr Yee since she opened up for business 30 years ago ! My review is not needed as Dr. Yee is extremely busy but my review is long overdue and warranted . I drive from Hollywood to her office 1-2 times a year for cleaning and on a very rare occasion for a cavity and 1 root canal , my fault for not brushing as much as I should be doing . Dr. Yee is a consulate professional and her office is run like swiss clock . The office is modern , and spotless as is the private restroom . The dental equipment is state of the art and is constantly updated . Everyone is nice and while I'm not scared to go to a dentist , many are and there is no need to be here as Nancy and her staff are a gentle as can be ! I am so relaxed when I get my teeth cleaned I do fall asleep in the chair every time I get my teeth cleaned , I kid you not . Maybe I'm different but I actually look forward to seeing Dr Yee for a teeth cleaning because I know Ill be walking out with pretty white polished teeth and there's nothing quite like a great smile with pearly whites . I highly recommend Dr. Yee and her staff for all dental needs , etc but if you want to get in here you better book in advance as they are usually are booked solid for 2 months in advance for cleanings which really says a lot about this place. I know that Dr Yee will squeeze in patients for emergency visits working on her lunch break . Came in for dental implant and had two perfectly good teeth destroyed and turned into bacteria straws which require root canals and proper sealing and crowning. Nancy Yee has a lot of new equipment and needs to pay for it by forcing patients with good teeth receive unnecessary endontic surgery and recrowning so she may charge thousands to insurance. Twice now her Endodontist opened teeth and said "I don't know why this surgery was requested. There is no infection here." And twice now Yee worked with her teen daughter to close up the teeth, leaving open contact for bacteria to be sucked in and down to the jaw where emergency treatment is required, and I've been told by three subsequent specialists to not pay the remaining bill for what was originally quoted as $200 but became $2000+ because Yee's office didn't do their homework in advance to clear my insurance so then fudged with the dates to get my insurance to pay for something I didn't authorize, and then, when they could not get the money from insurance or myself, they violated HIPPA twice by phoning my friend who does not live with me nor have involvement in my personal affairs. read more

Have been having my teeth taken care of by Dr Nancy Yee and her staff for almost 20 years, absolutely the best painless dentistry!!! Cracked my tooth in half over this weekend, left a message on Sunday at Dr Yee's office for when they got in on Monday. They returned my call first thing Monday morning and by 10:30am I was having a new crown put in, they were able to save the tooth and fit me with a new crown and I was done by 12:30pm. Wow!!! I've gone to Dr. Yee only once as a recommendation from my old boss. She extracted two of my wisdoms, because my regular dentist was not able to do it at the time. I felt really comfortable at her office, though. She and her staff were very polite and warm. They even called in my perscription for me after the procedure. I have been going to Dr. Yee for many years. My teeth look great and are the healthiest they have ever been.

The issue with my tongue she said "was fine" didn't go away. I have had a numb tongue and nerve issues since the wisdom tooth extraction she performed on me. It wasn't even a necessary procedure. I'm not into suing (that's just not me) and have moved on, but I would defintely NOT recommend her. If you have to get a tooth extracted use a surgeon. And if she suggests an extraction get a second opinnion. Having this tongue issue has defintely affected my quality of life. read more

I have to say. I hate the dentist. All of the needle sticking and drilling. But Dr. Yee's dental office made me feel right at home. I came into a cheerful atmosphere that by the way helps out when your not looking forward to getting your teeth drilled. Carol was super professional as she always has been. PROS: Professional office staff Intelligent dentist Fancy technology Less likely to jump the gun on invasive procedures Appointment schedule pretty open, can usually get next day etc CONS: Out-of network (basic cleaning 2x regular rate) Occasional long waits if you go midday, but not egregious Dr Yee herself made a big deal out of not wanting to honor a small discount...that her own office had offered to local employees. I've been seeing Dr. Yee for years - she's a kind person and competent. Unlike other dentists I've used in Santa Monica, she doesn't perform procedures unless they are necessary. Her staff is helpful and friendly and her hygienists are super. Carol does such a good job that you'll probably have less cavities. My wife uses Janet and she is gentle and nice. I am so happy not to go to Yee any more after years of being her patient. It was amazing seeing my new dentist work since his competence, caring and overall ability so dramatically contrasts with Yee. As an example, Yee would give me novacain for a filling, leave for another patient, come back and the novacain would not last the procedure because she took so long doing other patients. She hired the worst trainees who seemed to get their instruction by changing tires. Then Yee missed a cavity in my anchor tooth while installing a bridge for the 3rd time because the others never fit. Best thing that happened for my peace of mind - leaving Yee. read more

Dr. Nancy Yee has been my and my family's dentist for almost 30 years. I've seen a lot of changes in the office, but one thing has been consistent-- her personal attention, cutting edge dental procedures, and exacting quality work. I think she actually lives, breaths, and dreams about her patient's teeth! One thing worth noting, she's conservative when it comes to dental procedures. Unless absolutely necessary will she won't recommend a procedure. She's sensitive to patient's finances. Her front office manager, Koni, is GREAT, especially dealing with insurance companies, which they do accept (most PPO's). read more

I'll give everyone a 2nd chance, and that's where I made my mistake here. The first time I went to Dr. Yee's office, I told her I was allergic to epinephrine, but she accidentally administered novocaine w/epi and sent me into a full blown panic attack accompanied by a horrific allergic reaction. I took medication and recovered quickly, but the experience was disconcerting. I was told Dr. Yee's hygenists were some of the best around, so even after my horrible experience, I decided to give their office a 2nd chance. I had my teeth cleaned by Carol, I believe. After the cleaning, I suffered from a horrible infection as a result of a nasty cut when her hand slipped and the instrument she was using went straight into my gums. My entire face was swollen for over a week and I couldn't eat for days. I know they say "3 strikes, you're out," but I'm gonna have to quit after 2 on this one. My health is way too important. Please choose your dentist carefully, as you may end up with an experience similar to mine. I'm afraid I cannot recommend Dr. Yee's service to anyone that I care about. They are inexperienced, careless and negligent. No one ever really apologized for what happened to me. Adding insult to injury, I still had to pay the full amount for the services rendered! I have been going to Dr. Yee for over thirty years. I have never had a cavity in those years! Carol, the dental hygienist, is the bomb.

After at least 16 years with her I am just finding out what a poor dentist she really is. She definitely is out for money and makes sure she puts her time into all the new fangled equipment and not patient care. At the beginning, i thought she had the interest of the patient in mind. As the years passed she became more careless, extremely flighty and always in a rush. Always running between patients. I started to question her motives when every time I went in she would have at least 5 other things that I "must" have done. Because I was a victim of the Teflon/ Silastic implant case she would always have some "preventative" thing I absolutly had to have done. For many years I had a dentist that ended up to be using illegal materials in my many root canals. Feel free to look at dental records with the American Dental Board and this dentist had his license revolked.Because of my poor dental history, Dr. Yee thought she was going to save the day.. at this point all she has done is cost us many thousands of dollars paid to her and to a new dentist to now repair her subpar work. Final straw with her was when I found out by two second opinons, Dr. Jin Kim (Diamond Bar...Yees office partner) and Dr. Kam Kaminger (Agoura Hills) that Dr. Yee had put me in Invisiligns when they clearly should not have been used on a patent with my history. At that point I left her and again we ended up spending many thousands of dollars for veneers for my bottom teeth because the Invisilign by Dr. Yee had not only messed up my bite to the point of pain but also left big gaps between teeth. The dentist I currently have, who is younger and clearly not as full of himself as Dr Yee, has pointed out all the poor crown work done by Yee ( i.e.all crowns she made were left rough and could easily be picked out by running my tongue over them, gaps from poor fitting crowns, and use of cheap materials, not matching color to previous crowns etc.,. With what I have been told by two other dentists I could clearly have a legal case against Yee. As it happens she has already been sued on things I mentioned. When she saw I had the case in my hand she became very defensive ...especially because all her staff and Dr Kim were in the room witnessing what I had found . Having already had years of poor dentistry I definitely would not have gone to this woman if I had read that case. She then, on two different occasions, proceeded to call my husband to "try to explain"which was clearly an attempt to keep me from notifying the Dental Board or taking legal action. After speaking with my new dentist, finding out the damage Yee had done, as well as having a flare in my chronic disease of Syertemic Lupus Erytramatosis we sadly decided that starting legal work was not a healthy alternative for me. We have started to repair her poor work but,again, to the tune of many thousands of dollars. Now that the immediate problems have been taken care of I am in the process of reporting her to the dental board. Bottom line.. stay away from this woman and all her ridiculous "certifictes" on her wall are a joke to feed her ego not improve her skills. read more

I've been going to Dr. Nancy Yee and having my teeth cleaned by Carol for 17 years now. I absolutely hated going to the dentist before I started going to Dr. Yee's office. The cleanings are deep-cleanings, and Dr. Yee prides herself on keeping very knowledgeable of each client and makes sure that clients receive preventative care, so there aren't major dental problems later. I love coming to this office. It's like a large family at the office - the whole staff is extremely friendly, and most of the staff has been with Dr. Yee for years, if not decades. The office is a well-oiled machine and the dental hygienists and Dr. Yee are experts. I travel from Los FEliz to Santa Monica 3 times a year for cleanings, and while my friends have had so many dental problems and root canals, I've had none (and I"m 54)...knock on wood. Negligent, money hungry, fraternizes with patients, and breaches confidentiality ...ie. telling me about her case with La Toya Jackson and how she is avoiding it.She is hyper, works on several patients at a time and I have now found out by two different dentists (one being her partner in office Dr.Kim) that she performed and charged for, unnecessary procedures.Procedures also poorly done...gaps between crowns, poor quality crowns and not smoothing crowns. No attention to detail just money. So glad to have found an ethical dentist after thinking Yee was good for so many years. Tip..find different ethical dentist that does not share her personal probs with patients...something called. boundries of which she has none. Certificates on her wall are a joke..don't be fooled. Oh, though she denies wrongdoing, be sure to check out her court case on Google. Just so happens we complained about many of the same things that this woman, according to Yee, "made up for money". I've been to Nancy Yee twice, and at age 59 (two more days), by my experience, she is the finest dentist I have been too. I agree with another commenter, that she is one of the finest in California. Again, she's the best I've been to. I went to her on a recommendation from a friend my age, who also consider her the best she'd been to. I had been to another dentist who told me I had five cavities. I felt suspicious, because I had only had 4 cavities at age 10, and none thereafter. When I went to Dr. Yee's office, I had the most gentle, yet thorough cleaning from Janice (not sure of the name). Then it was on to see Dr. Yee. She x-rayed and looked at my teeth, and said "you don't have any cavities. I don't know why dentists do that." Then she saw where a piece of enamel had broken off from grinding on a back molar and fixed that. It feels like nothing was done. Perfect work. That makes me question a couple of the reviews saying she is out for money. My experience, as well as my friends shows those comments to be totally untrue. She did what I needed, and discouraged cosmetic work she didn't feel I needed, and now I am very glad I took her advice. I asked about veneers. She said, "You have very nice teeth; you don't need them. I am writing this review now, because I looked up dentists in a certain plan, but not knowing them I don't want to gamble with my teeth, so I thought I'd look Nancy up for fun since I will be giving her office a call next week. Someone said she works on several patients at a time? This never happened with me. I wonder if Karen who called her negligent, and has stated a gross misrepresentation, knows that is slander, and what her real agenda is with this extremely professional Dentist?
