We tried a cobbler and a pie, which were both tasty and had great textures. We'd definitely return for those. We also ordered four cup cakes and a macaroon (coconut dipped in chocolate). They were beautiful and moist. The buttercream frosting was yum. But the cupcakes weren't exceptional. I'd get them if I were nearby, but not go out of my way for. A couple of them also had hard, round, edible sprinkles that were pretty to look at, but unpleasant to bite into -- sort of like biting a pellet from a BB gun. They spoiled the experience of biting into a cupcake. The cupcakes also were too sweet. I ended up (at home), having them with unsweetened tea and strawberries, to counter that. That made the cupcakes much more enjoyable. I wouldn't have them again without something to counter all that sugar, which was overwhelming. read more

So breakfast, lunch, and sweets are all really good. Nice people putting out good food at a reasonable price. The breakfast sandwiches are large, tasty with your choice of ingredients. The chicken cilantro soup is great, the tuna curry is tasty and comes on a wonderful local bread. Even the salad dressing was notable. Let's not forget desert. Icing cookies are ridiculous, pecan bars are delightful, coconut macaroons are seriously delicious. Unreal how good every single thing is here. The best blueberry scones I've ever had, brownies are amazing, and everything else we ordered was incredible. We love the pastries at Nancy P and have always had a pleasant experience until today. We were standing in line to get a few things including one of their plain cinnamon rolls. Right as it was our turn to order, someone called and asked how many cinnamon rolls were left, and ordered all of them for pickup. So although we were standing RIGHT THERE with hard cash in our hands, we did not get one. While I understand that businesses have to adapt to remote pick-ups, this truly felt that someone just cut in line in front of us. I think the cashier could have just had a thought for the people who were in the store and asked if any of us wanted at least one. On top of that the cashier did not apologize to us whatsoever, just plainly said "we just sold all of them". This is really not the kind of thing that would bother me usually but we get so little social interactions these days. So lesson learned: call them to get first dibs. read more

Came to Nancy P's when I was visiting my mom with my two kids in tow, on her recommendation. We went to Devore's across the street to assemble a picnic, then to Nancy P's for some treats. We grabbed a sampling of what was in the case and headed to the park. They take credit cards. I noticed other reviews said they do not, but they do NOW. It was packed inside, but the line went quickly. Prices were reasonable, especially once you taste the quality. They are obviosuly using top notch ingredients, which is refreshing in today's restaurant and bakery climate. We had a poppyseed cupcake, a carrot cupcake, and a strawberry rhubarb bar. My mom had suggested the cartot cupcake, but this wa different than the one she had talked about. Hers had a coconut cream center, and she thought it was heavenly. The one we got was dense and super moist, with coconut and pineapple baked in and cream cheese frosting on top. I got it thinking it would be the one she got...and I have neve liked this type of carrot cake. So if this is your thing, go for it. It is made with good ingredients and you will be in heaven with their version. It was tasty, just not my speed. Plus, I was probably disappointed it was different than what I was expecting. The strawberry rhubarb square was great. It was real fruit, made with real butter, and had a crumbly streusel on top. Yum. The poppyseed cupcake had a ton of purple frosting piped on top. I try and avoid fake colors, so this was a stretch for me, but I always judge a place on their frosting. Ahem. The cake was so, so good. Perfect, really. Not too moist, not dry. A perfect balance. And the frosting. I had yet to find a bakery that makes the same frosting that I do, sans powdered sugar and not too sweet. This is the one I make!! Impressive. It takes a little more time and is more expensive than the American shortening and powdered sugar frostings, but is SO worth it! My only suggestion is to enjoy this type of cake at room temp. It should not be chilled, since the frosting gets so solidified and the flavors don't shine. Real vanilla extract, no fake stuff. Nice. Now the only critique I can give based on our short, limited experience with Nancy P's is based on observation. If you're following a gluten free diet, they do have options for you. However, be aware if you are really allergic to wheat and highly sensitive...some of the GF treats are on the same trays as wheat based, and/or set below the regular varieties (a crumb contamination risk). I would suggest placing GF stuff on the top shelf, in one designated corner of the showcase, rather than throughout. read more

I had my first Nancy P's experience yesterday morning. To my surprise, it wasn't busy at all at 10 am on a Wednesday. However, then again, it seems that most businesses in Bend aren't very busy before noon on a weekday. ;) I had the veggie quiche, and my toddler had a shortbread cookie. I also got a peanutbutter chocolate bar to-go for my husband. The quiche was delicious--light and fluffy with a not-too-dry crust. I wish there would have been a few more chunks of veggie in there, though--it seemed kinda skimpy on that despite it being called "veggie quiche". My son loved his cookie, although I really doubt that there is a cookie in the world that he wouldn't love! I tried a bite and it was quite yummy. I'd definitely get my own another time. My husband was delighted with the peanutbutter chocolate bar. He snarfed it down in about 15 seconds and wanted to know what else I brought home. Dream on, Piglet! So yeah, what I had was good. However, I don't know why I haven't learned this lesson yet in Bend--Nancy P's does NOT take debit cards, cash or check only. Since nothing in the case has prices on it (pastries or the quiche) I started to sweat when I got to the cash register and was told that they wouldn't take my debit card. I really wanted a Mate, but instead said, "Um, how much are these three items?" Twelve dollars. And I had 12 dollars exactly on me. Soooo, I was able to buy my 3 treats, but no drink for me. :( Yeah, Nancy P's is good, but I don't know if it's THAT good. I mean, $12 for a small slice of quiche and two cookies? I don't know. I felt like I'd been overcharged. I'll probably try Nancy P's again in order to have one of their sandwiches, but I'll definitely be sure to bring plenty of cash next time. There's nothing worse than having no idea of how much your spending and then being surprised with a large bill that you don't have enough cash to cover. read more

LOVE. Me and my friend have been on a bakery kick lately, and this is the favorite so far. Sparrow Bakery cannot even compare, I'm afraid. My friend had an almond-covered cinnamon roll (I don't like almonds, but I loved it), and I got a scone. SO very wonderful, and the overall atmosphere in the shop is simply adorable. The girls weren't as friendly as they were at Sparrow, but they were efficient and pleasant. The only reason I knocked it down a star was because of the chai. I'm afraid I'm just not a big fan of Oregon Chai. Nothing will ever compare to Looney Bean in that respect. GO! It's a lovely place in a beautiful location, and you won't regret it. read more

Last time I went in here we were trying to order coffee and the girl acted like we were putting her out or something. She kept kind of rolling her eyes and looking like she had somewhere to be, or that we were doing something wrong for wanting to place an order. After she looked at us blankly and incorrectly repeated our order back to us we said, "You know what, never mind" and turned around and walked out. (To Backporch Brewing.... much better choice even without a food menu.) This place..... has not been that great. Even before this incident, their food has not been very good, and they leave perishable items like quiche sitting on the counter, unrefrigerated or heated..... I don't know how they are not getting in trouble with the health department for that, because that is a seriously very very against food handling regulations. Located in a neighborhood, this place is easy to miss. This bakery was hopping. They had two cases full of fresh baked goods and hot cinnamon buns fresh from the oven. Many of their baked goods are big and easy to share. We bought a few items to share: a Marion berry scone, two cinnamon rolls, and an I love Oregon shortbread cookie. My cousin loved the scone, and I'd have to say the cinnamon roll was my favorite, but they were all so good that it was hard to choose. The bakery also offers tea and espresso. First of all, the cupcakes. It's always better to start off with dessert, just to make sure you don't fill up with other food first! Now, which kind would you like? They have several varieties to choose from including carrot, red velvet, and assorted "junior" cupcakes. And then there is the goodness that is the Chocolate Puddle. It's like a oozy, gooey brownie that isn't baked quite through, with chocolate fudge filling. My friend got one and lorded it over us, oh man did it look good. But oh my goodness, I knew I had found my new home away from home when I saw the Grilled Bacon, Tomato and Cheese sandwiches. And in case you were wondering, yes it was just as good as it sounds. Scratch that, it was even better than it sounds. If you like bacon and cheese, and have a few cholesterol points to spare I highly recommend it! Don't forget the Strictly Organic coffee! I like Nancy P's and never think to go there. It's on my beat and path, next to Newport Market and by my children's school. The location is just a little off the track, so I don't notice them. I met a friend for coffee last week (her suggestion) and I thought it was great. I had an almond croissant, buyer yum. Flaky croissant filled with a delightful almond paste. Topped with almonds and powdered sugar. That with a breve latte. Quite a bit of seating inside and a couple of tables outside on the patio. Expresso drinks brought to the table and then you bus your table, fair enough. Every trip to Nancy P's has left me wishing I remembered to go there more often. I'm always one to try a sweet treat before a savory and I have never been disappointed. Their case is filled with all sorts of different items to try, including some tasty looking breakfast sandwiches. Nice counter help, good service. read more

I'm surprised I'm the first to review Nancy P's! They're always busy, though the wait is never long and a table always seems to magically open up right when you need it. It can sometimes be more difficult to find a place to park your bike than your car. Everything I've tried here, both sweet and savory, has been excellent. The croissants, a pastry easy to ruin, are particularly fine--my only complaint is that my favorites (almond or ham & cheese) often sell out if I don't get there early enough! In addition to the wide variety of pastries there are soup, salad, and sandwich options, and even some gluten-free offerings for the allergic among us. The coffee is good too, and there are lots of tea choices if you prefer tea. There's pretty much something for everyone, which makes for fantastic people-watching too! Nancy P's is a little hidden, tucked away in a remodeled bungalow a block off Newport Ave. (almost behind Newport Market). You'll know you're in the right place when you see the gorgeous wildflowers out front. read more

I stumbled on Nancy P's by chance on a quick stop in Bend, and am glad I did! Service was friendly and accommodating: Mo offered to put together a custom-built vegetarian fococcia sandwich for me, and it was top notch. I can't remember the last time I had a sandwich that so perfectly hit the spot. The chocolate chip cookie was delicious too - an ideal little lunch. As icing on the cake (so to speak), a generous dog treat was produced, and judging by my dog's reaction, it was scrumptious. We'll be hitting this place next time we're in Bend, for sure! read more

I read the reviews and was excited to try this place. I walked in for breakfast and there was no line. The tables that were empty were filthy, as well as the child seats. I had to ask the staff to clean the tables because they did not do it on their own. The silverware was empty and when I asked for a knife the worker was not to friendly about it. To top this visit off the food was mediocre and pretty expensive. Hopefully this is not the norm but I will not be returning. read more

I have yet to try the baked goods - they look delectable - but the sandwiches are enormous and stuffed full of excellent deli cuts. The bread is good, as one would expect. This is the exact kind of bakery/cafe you would want in your neighborhood. There are quite a few real amazing bakeries in Bend like Foxtail and Sparrow however Nancy P's rounds up the options nicely. They have old fashioned home made goodies that are so wholesome and amazing! We stopped by for the first time around 1pm a couple of weeks ago and all the breakfast items were gone so we settled on a peanut butter bar and a key lime bar, oh boy they were delicious!!! Today we made sure we got there early and we had one of the ham and cheese rolls and a cinnamon bun, both excellent! Also we picked up a lemon bar and a Chocolate dipped macaroon for later This is definitely one of our favorite breakfast spots in Bend now. Nancy P's pies were outstanding at our daughters wedding!!! The apple pies had layers upon layers of apples filled to the top. We had a combination of traditional crust top and a streusel top. The Marion-berry pies were equally delicious!!! Combination traditional crust top and a crumb type top. Loved them all! The crust tops had detail cut outs such as hearts. So cute for a wedding!!! Nancy P's located just off Newport Market Ave nuzzled on the corner of NW 11th and NW Milwaukee Ave. Nancy P's is one of a handful of very quaint breakfast, lunch and dinner restaurants within walking distance of each other. Like Sparrow Bakery from where the majority of the coffee shops in town carry the famous ocean roll of cardamom goodness, Nancy P's is in the same way famous for their scones in town which are available in many of the coffee shops I frequent, which is great when you are hankering for a Nancy P's scone fix while sipping coffee at Thump, Back Porch and Bellatazza. The customer service aspect was quite unprofessional for my fiancee who went in today to ask about getting some desserts for our wedding in a few months (which we are unsure if we are even going to be able to have or feel comfortable having due to COVID, but we need to continue to plan in the meantime in case it does happen). Well apparently the owner took it upon herself to tell us we should not be having our wedding (even though currently in Oregon 100 person weddings are allowed) because they have been "dealing with COVID for a long time and we want our kids to be able to get back to school." Also she said that to my fiancee who is a Firefighter aka first responder and I am an ER nurse. So PLEASE tell me more about how YOU have been dealing with COVID. Also, do you not like getting business? I don't care how good the cinnamon rolls are at this place, with that attitude I'll make my own. read more
