Beautiful restaurant, laid back ambiance. Chicken was very moist and sauces are available for sampling. Service was great, hostess was very informative about the menu and prices were decent.

This is my first time going to Nando's and it was so worth it. The food was very good, we got the valentines bundle that was a good deal and brought a lot. The area is great and very quiet inside which is lovely. The service made the experience worth it, the manager was very present and very attentive with the customers if they needed anything. She talked with me at the end of the night, everyone there was helpful with everything. Definitely worth coming back!!

Stopped in for an early dinner on a Sunday. I haven't dined at this Nando's since moving to the area. We decided to share the spicy chicken Caesar wrap and 6 wings medium. We decided to try a few of the sauces from the sauce bar (there were 6-8 kinds to choose from) the garlic and the herb. The herb sauce was perfect on top of the medium wings and jazzed them up a bit (Gave them a little kick). The wrap came with two sides since we were sharing we went for fries and mashed potatoes. The potatoes were perfect and the fries were hot and fresh but the seasoning was bland. I liked the wrap but I felt like we needed more chicken and definitely more dressing. The staff at this location was supper friendly they checked on us multiple times, asked us if we needed anything and offered desserts. The restaurant itself was spacious, clean and the decoration added a nice touch! I'll be returning to Nando's after such a positive experience.

Unexpected Flavor and Hospitality Just Outside D.C. On a business trip outside of D.C., I asked the hotel staff for something a little different--and they pointed me to Nando's Peri-Peri. I'd never been, but once I stepped inside and read the walls, I realized this wasn't just your typical grilled chicken joint. With roots in Portuguese and South African flavors, the place already had me intrigued. I went with something called the Rainbow Bowl--a vibrant combo of avocado, tomato, cucumbers, onion salad, pickled cauliflower, hummus, super seeds crunch, and feta, all layered over warm Portuguese rice and finished with a lemon herb drizzle. I added a grilled chicken breast to it, and the food came out fast. And wow--super flavorful. Not just heat for the sake of it, but real, layered spice. They had a whole variety of Peri-Peri sauces if you wanted to dial things up a notch, and I took a picture of the options--definitely worth sampling a few if you like to customize your spice level. To drink, I had the Strawberry Rose Lemonade, which was refreshing and just different enough to stand out from the usual soda fountain fare. Now here's where it got pleasantly strange--in the best way. I ordered at the counter expecting a typical fast-casual experience, but then they brought my meal out to the table, restaurant-style. And not just that--multiple staff members came by to check in on me, ask how things were going, and if I needed anything else. A really warm, attentive vibe that I wasn't expecting. The music was chill, the decor had character, and the whole place felt thoughtfully put together. The location itself is in a very walkable area, perfect for strolling into a few shops afterward and walking off the meal. All in all, this place sits in that sweet spot between fast food and sit-down restaurant--quick enough for lunch, but welcoming enough to linger a bit. Definitely recommend if you're in the area and want something bold, flavorful, and just a little bit different.

I crave this chicken with their assortment of sauces. The chicken is packed full of flavor and always fresh. The smell of the seasoning is so enticing to me and always draws me in. On our visits we were always treated with exceptional customer service and the employees do a great job. The restaurant is always clean too!

I decided to try a new menu item, the fully loaded fries. While the taste/flavor was pretty good, it was missing the red onions and possibly also the PERi ranch. My chicken was supposed to be prepared with the medium sauce, and I didn't taste that either.

I visited during lunch time on a weekday and surprisingly it was not crowded. I ordered online and picked up at the front register. I ordered the Thigh & Mighty sandwich which is really delicious. It is a chicken thigh sandwich which compared to chicken breast is naturally more flavorful. It is a very fresh chicken sandwich which comes with fries however I wasn't too thrilled about the fries. Not bad, however not good enough to speak on or offer a comment. The staff member who assisted me in picking up my order was very friendly. I'll visit again. There is ample parking in the adjacent parking lot. Give them a try.

The service at this location is top tier! The staff is so friendly always greeting customers with a smile and positive attitudes. The vibe in the restaurant is upbeat and welcoming. The food is hot and fresh which is always a great experience! The chicken is always a win for me, juicy and flavorful, I like mine with no sauce, it's perfect the way it is! The Brussels are good without the sauce to me, I prefer them plain. I am not a fan of the Mac, I prefer a baked Mac and cheese. Go and try this spot, you won't be disappointed!

For the longest I didn't understand the hype about Nandos. 6 years later I decided to try Nandos again and I freakin loved it . I don't know if it's the fact that I haven't had it in so long or the fact that Nandos stepped up there game up. (Lol) You have options to dine in , carry out or order online and pick up. The prices are to be expected. The location is nice. There wasn't a lot of traffic inside/ it was easy to place my order and the wait time wasn't long. Now let's get into the Meat of this review!! *The Peri Peri wings were cooked well done which I loved. They had a nice flavor and char to them. * The rice was okay. I am not a big fan of there rice but I found when I added some of the Nandi sauce to it I liked the rice a little more. *Grilled Cesar wrap was BOMB.com!!!! Flavor profile was heavenly. The veggies was fresh, the dressing was flavorful and the bread was truly amazing!' All in all I would definitely come Back and try other items on the menu. Great job Nandos

    PERi Ranch Crunch Salad

Let's be different! Everything here has been well reviewed but their salads. They have two types of salads, PERi Ranch Crunch Salad and Spicy PERi Chicken Kale Caesar Salad. They come with grilled chicken. You have a choice of breast or thigh meat. The chicken is coated with a choice of sauce: lemon & herb, mango & lime, medium, hot, or extra hot. You can have it without added sauce. You can get them without chicken also. So, my wife and I tried both entree salads. 1) PERi Ranch Crunch Salad It had chicken, tomato cucumber & onion salad, feta, crispy chickpeas, and PERi pita croutons served over mixed greens dressed in PERi ranch. We got thigh meat coated with medium sauce. There was 2 whole pieces of boneless thigh. They weren't sliced. That was odd and inconvenient to eat. It was moist and tender with a good grilled and marinade flavor of PERi PERi chilli (sic), onions, garlic, and lemon. PERi PERi (aka piri-piri or African Bird's Eye chile) is a hot pepper that is used as a spice and in pharmaceuticals. With the medium sauce, the chicken was mildly spicy. The vegetables were fresh. The feta was rich, creamy, and slightly tangy. The fried chickpeas were crunchy with a very light chickpea flavor. The pita croutons were crunchy and denser than regular croutons with a hint of pepperiness. The dressing tasted like ranch with chiles added. Overall, it was moderately spicy hot, flavorful, and filling but not heavy. 2) Spicy PERi Chicken Kale Caesar It had chicken, pickled red onion, crispy chickpeas, PERi pita croutons, and shaved parmesan served over mixed greens and kale dressed in PERi Caesar dressing. We got thigh meat with mango & lime sauce. The chicken was the same as above except it wasn't spicy hot. It had a mild mango and lime flavor. The pickled onions had a strong onion flavor, a slight tanginess, and mild chile flavor. There wasn't much parmesan cheese, but what was there was good in a typical way. The mixed greens were fresh and the kale was slightly bitter. The dressing tasted like Caesar with chiles added. It was mildly hot. Overall, this had outstanding flavor for a Caesar Salad. I'm not a fan of Caesar Salad, but this is an exception because it wasn't boring to my taste buds. The service was polite, attentive, and helpful. Our food was ready in 10 minutes which was quick because 3 people had ordered ahead of us. We ordered carryout which may have made a difference since we didn't have to wait for our food to be served. The dining room and restrooms were very clean. They have a hand sink for customers at the back of the dining room. The decor included contemporary South African artwork. The ambiance, service, and food were excellent, so I gladly recommend this restaurant. FYI, with over 1200 restaurants worldwide, Nando's has the largest collection of South African artwork in the world for public display. They have over 28,000 pieces of artwork.

Order: Nando 1/2 chicken w/mango & lime sauce & sides: Peri Chips & caesar salad Pros: sooo let me jus say customer service was A1! Walked in and was trying to decide what I wanted to eat, the guy behind the counter asked if it was my first time here and he gave me a coupon for a free appetizer. The chicken was BOMB.com!!!! Like the actual meat of the chicken was flavorful, juicy, and moist!!! The ceasar salad was really good! I actually put some of the chicken on the salad! The dressing was thick but paired well with salad once on there. The croutons on the salad was nice and chewy. Cons: None

The awning outside needs refurbishment and inside furniture is not updated. It's dark inside, almost like a night club. Perhaps it is sometimes. I felt that staff lacked a bit of professionalism and they rarely checked on us. The plates are huge. That is a plus. My partner ordered the goat and I tried the red snapper. I think one plate is big enough to share. I like the spinach, but everything needed a bit of salt. While the red snapper was coated in a lovely tomato and red pepper gravy, I felt it made the crispyness of the fried fish disappear and it was kind of soggy. Located within "The Potomac" formerly known as The Salamander, Dōgon is one of three fine dining restaurants curated by Chef Kwame Onwuachi. Our visit coincided with restaurant week and had a pre-fixe menu for $65/pp. Our server was gracious enough to tell us about the other specials available but I decided that I would be fine with the restaurant week menu. For my starter, I enjoyed the oxtail patties and a mango basil smash. The entree was shrimp creole with focaccia bread that I graciously used for sopping up the delicious sauce that hugged the shrimp. Rounding out the meal, I chose the rum cake. None of my items disappointed. I found each to be an appropriate serving and shareable. The coco bread was complimentary and the flecks of salt were satisfying. I enjoyed a second cocktail and chose the Sorel Rickey. It was a hibiscus flavored, rum enhanced, and kissed by lime kinda drink. The manager made her rounds and was very personable. The other guests were watching the dishes being presented to the various tables and you could tell that it made one, a bit eager for their own food or a return visit. Our server was top notch and we enjoyed talking with him and his energy. This restaurant supports solo dining, group events, and date night dining. The bathrooms were well maintained and there is an open kitchen concept where you can see what's going on if you're seated nearby. An overall positive dining experience. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted and his birthday was acknowledged at the hostess stand, which was a nice first impression. The atmosphere is easily one of the highlights of Dogon. The moody lighting, modern decor, and especially the playlist create such a fun, intimate vibe. The music was jamming the entire time and honestly played a huge role in making the experience enjoyable. We ordered quite a few dishes, and there were definitely some standouts. The crab hoe cakes were delicious and probably one of my favorite things we ordered. The Wagyu ribeye was another standout, incredibly tender and seasoned beautifully. I initially came in wanting to try the Ma Dukes shrimp, but they had recently revamped the menu and replaced it with a Creole shrimp dish. Unfortunately, this was probably my least favorite item of the night. There was a very odd, pungent flavor that I couldn't get past, and the dish was overwhelmingly spicy to me. The oxtail patties were good but nothing that really stood out. The rum cake was delicious, although personally, I would have loved a little more rum flavor. The drinks, however, were all very good and definitely worth trying. The service was just okay. While we were greeted at the hostess stand, there wasn't really any acknowledgment afterward that we were celebrating a birthday, even though the occasion was included on our reservation. I wasn't necessarily expecting anything extravagant, but a simple "Happy Birthday" or candle with our dessert would have made the experience feel a bit more special. Ultimately, I'm 50/50 on whether I'd return. The music and atmosphere are a huge draw, and there were definitely some really good dishes. However, considering the price point and some of the portion sizes, I'm not completely convinced the overall experience matches the cost. I'd definitely recommend Dogon for the vibe, drinks, and a few standout dishes, but whether it's worth the price is where I'm still undecided.

I'd heard great things about The Continent, so it felt like a must-try especially since Swahili Village is one of our go-to favorites for comparison. The space itself was great, nice interior, well-decorated, and service was solid throughout. They also had two distinct vibes going: one side had a bit of a DJ/lounge energy, while the other was more elegant and laid-back, better for actual dinner conversation. We sat on the calmer side. Drinks were good. We had a sangria and a tequila-based cocktail, both solid. For appetizers, we got the shrimp and the beef samosas. Unfortunately, the beef samosas just didn't hold up compared to Swahili Village's. I've had Swahili Village's beef samosas multiple times and they always come out hot, crispy, and consistent. These didn't quite match up, and that was strike one for me. The shrimp appetizer was nice, good sauce, though it could've used a bit more depth of flavor. I also ordered the pepper soup, which was excellent and genuinely spicy (more than I could really handle, but I still finished it). For entrées, my boyfriend got the Suya with jollof rice, and I got the red snapper with jollof rice as well. He really enjoyed his. The beef was cooked well and flavorful, and the jollof rice was good. My fish was also cooked nicely, though the sauce needed a bit more flavor. The bigger issue: they were out of plantains. That was strike two, and it stung more because it was my boyfriend's birthday dinner and plantains are his favorite. It's rare for an African or Caribbean restaurant to run out of them entirely. Overall, a decent experience, but with the high expectations going in, a couple of misses kept it from fully living up to the hype for us. I'd go back for the pepper soup and give it another shot, but I'm hoping for hotter, fresher samosas and actual plantains next time.

It's a small but quaint spot with a mix of booth and table seating, making it a nice place for a relaxed dinner with friends. As a picky eater visiting for the first time, I kept my order simple with wings and rice. The wings were the highlight of the meal--crispy, flavorful, and well-seasoned. The rice, however, was disappointing. It was dry and lacked seasoning, and I found myself wishing it had at least a little butter and salt to enhance the flavor. The mocktails were delicious and complemented the meal well. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. The music was at the perfect volume--easy to enjoy while still being able to carry on a conversation without shouting, which made for a pleasant evening with friends. Our server was attentive, friendly, and made us feel welcome throughout the meal. One small note: the ladies' restroom was clean but very small and narrow. It had a hook-and-latch style door but no place to hang a purse, which would be a nice addition. Parking on H Street is always a hit or miss, so plan accordingly if you're driving. Ratings: * Food: (3/5) * Atmosphere: (3/5) * Service: (4/5) * Dinner with Friends: (5/5) Overall, Lydia on H is a pleasant neighborhood spot with friendly service, tasty wings, and excellent mocktails. While the rice missed the mark for me, I enjoyed the company, the conversation, and the relaxed atmosphere. I would consider returning to try other menu items.

There are some gorgeous pieces of beaded jewelry, artwork, clothing, and more in this store. This is an authentic African collection store so you can find just about anything that you'd like that will relate to your African roots. Mr. Kwame was really pleasant, friendly, he engaged his customers, and he just innately knew what we liked or what he thought would be pretty on us. Blue is my favorite color and he picked out this wonderful dress and I fell in love with it instantly. It fits well, has pockets, and a belt to match. My daughter came into the store and before she could begin to browse, he took one look at her, pulled the mannequin inside, and removed the dress from it. He gave it to her with a humble, rather gorgeous smile, and said, "This was made just for you." She turned to see that it was the dress from the mannequin and once again the words, "I love it!," were squeaked into the air. She went to the fitting room to try it on and it fit very well. So we bought it! She wore the dress right out of the store. I changed into mine later and pinned my hair up with the beaded hair pin. Mrs. Sandy got the orange and yellow dress with a bracelet. She absolutely loved that too. You cannot go wrong in this store. I really thought that he was not going to have anything to fit me because I have such large bosoms, however he did. It surprised me. I highly recommend this establishment. Tell Mr. Kwame that the "Shawn, Lady in Blue" sent you. LoL! 5 Stars.

Unfortunately, this location didn't hold up. The ordering process was a mess from the start. They were out of boneless chicken, so we pivoted to a half chicken... only to be told they were out of that too. Then it turned out they did have it. We ordered the hummus appetizer and got the side portion instead, which meant another trip to the counter to sort it out. We ordered medium peri peri sauce and got something noticeably spicier. Too tired and hungry to send it back, we just ate it... and the meal just didn't hit the way Nando's usually does. The mushy peas we'd been looking forward to aren't even on the menu anymore, which was its own small disappointment. On the bright side, I ordered a 5 oz glass of wine and got what looked like a double pour. Not complaining... but it does sum up the vibe. The staff seemed indifferent, whether it was end-of-night fatigue or just an off-night, hard to say. We'll probably give Nando's another shot elsewhere, but this DC visit was disappointing enough that I can't really recommend this location.

This isn't a place you stumble onto; it's a place you have to know about, and once you do, you won't stop coming back. Chef Endalk came out to greet our table personally, walked us through the menu, and genuinely seemed invested in making sure we loved the meal. We ordered a generous portion of raw beef for kitfo, and after we sampled a piece, the kitchen happily cooked the rest to a beautiful medium rare -- no fuss, no attitude, just quiet hospitality. The vegetable platter held its own against the meats -- just as vibrant and flavorful, if not more so, with layers of spice in every lentil and green. The samosas were a fun twist too: a lighter, crispier shell closer to an Asian spring roll than the heavier Indian version, stuffed with well-seasoned lentils instead of the usual potato filling. And don't skip the housemade hot tea -- a strong bite of fresh ginger balanced with lemon and honey, the kind of thing you crave again the next cold day. Small room. Big heart. Bigger flavor.
