    Nanjing DaLu noodles

I'm not familiar with Nanjing cuisine, so it was interesting to try some of their signature dishes. The Nanjing salted duck is similar to roast duck, quite flavorful and tender meat, but without the crispy duck skin. The Nanjing dalu noodles is a noodle dish with thick gravy-like sauce and diced ingredients including veggies and tofu. My partner and I's favorites were probably the dishes that were closer to what you could find at your standard Chinese takeout spot in the area - the fish filet with tofu (which had a similar flavor to mapo tofu) and the pork in garlic sauce. That's not to say the other food wasn't good, I think we were not particularly used to the cuisine. The service is really nice and efficient. Everyone else dining there were Chinese groups of family or friends, speaking Mandarin.

Three of us came to Nanjing Bistro for my birthday lunch. They have a great selection of traditional Chinese dishes you won't find at typical American Chinese restaurants. Our waitress was super friendly and spoke to us in Mandarin, which made the experience really warm and personal. We ordered Salty Duck, Chive Buns, Beef and Beef Tripe in Chili Sauce, Fish Filets in Pickled Broth, and Hot Pepper Stir-Fried Pork Intestine. Every dish was flavorful and authentically prepared. It was my first time trying the Salty Duck, and I liked that it wasn't too salty and had more meat than roast duck. Overall, we all enjoyed our meal. Highly recommend this spot for great food and friendly service!

Nanjing Bistro is situated in the Fairfax Center, near Walmart in Fairfax, VA, serving authentic, homemade-style Chinese cuisine. The interior is clean, with white walls and LVP flooring. Service from an auntie was excellent; she was friendly and tried to accommodate us as best as she could. The food was fantastic, and we appreciated that the dishes weren't overly seasoned, but just right. All dishes were freshly cooked in their kitchen, making it one of the best experiences we've had in terms of authentic Chinese food. Some dishes we enjoyed and highly recommend: 1. Home Braised Pork Belly: The Sauce was just perfect-- not too salty or heavy--and tasted terrific. The pork belly was soft and enjoyable. 2. Nanjing Style Shredded Tofu: The tofu, combined with egg and black fungus, had a pleasant overall texture, and the seasoning was not too heavy. 3. Homemade Small Meatball Casserole Soup: Small meatballs, vermicelli noodles, and cabbage in a hot, clear soup. All ingredients combined well to make a tasty soup. 4. Housemade Triple Delight Dumplings: Well-made savory dumplings with ground meat and veggies, even better with vinegar dipping.

It was a Sunday afternoon and we wanted to take my mom somewhere for dinner - she's not picky, but since she's an experienced cook, it is difficult to get her to compliment any food. We were seated quickly when we arrived, and there were a few other groups already at the restaurant, but there was plenty of seating for us. We were drawn to the Nanjing area food, especially to the Nanjing Salty Duck, which the waitress informed us was the manager's own handiwork. It was very good, so I do recommend getting that. Other fare was ok, we got the Jiangzhe Style No 1 Mix Bowl, you can get that with spicy if you want, or not, but we got it mild spicy. There's many ingredients in there, and it's a satisfying bowl of soup - definitely not for just one person though so please share it with your group. The squirrel fish was also a hit, fried very crispily. Overall, my mom didn't have compliments but she didn't complain about dishes being not worth the money, or that she could do it better at home, so we succeeded.

While waiting in line at Yu's if you can get better food here. We've missed this home cooked meal for long time. some food that simple but showed finest of ingredients and cooking skills of chef in back of the house. We went this place after try to get in Yu's noodle in freezing cold Saturday and found 30 mins waited line. then saw the sign of shop. Why if it a try after peek at window and saw all Chinese customs sitting inside, something must be good. and I got my answer... another favorite restaurant Food not overwhelming by sesame oil, good balance of flavors not over salt or too sweet. If you are in area or want to try good food, this mom and pop might be your answer

    On point. Ordered several times.

One of my favorite Chinese restaurants. The menu is extensive and the food is very authentic. I almost went there every week recently. The food tastes great and prices are reasonable. A few dishes I ordered many times: cumin lamb or beef , braised pork belly, sweet and sour fish (squirrel fish), pork buns, Nanjing wonton soup, and string beans . Highly recommended.

Stir fried pork and rice cakes, delicious!

I keep forgetting about this place because Yu's Noodle is in the same strip mall, but this place is legit awesome. I got the Wuxi style big ribs. Ribs were fall apart tender and the sauce is savory and slightly sweet. The stir fried rice cakes had good flavor and the rice cakes were soft and chewy. It needed a bit more seasoning but that was easily fixed with some of the sauce from the ribs and I also had a side of hot diced pepper marinated in soy sauce to add saltiness and heat. You have to ask for the diced hot peppers and then you pour in soy sauce to marinate. If the waitress doesn't understand, show them my picture of the peppers and they'll know, lol. I can't wait to go back to try more of the menu.

Nanjing Bistro menu is quite impressive for a local neighborhood Chinese restaurant. The food is exciting and very traditional. The food is great, prices reasonable and portions generous. DJ_AZNSAYS: Dependable local Chinese restaurant

One of the highlights of the night was meeting the owner, Jason. We bonded over our shared Cantonese backgrounds and even got to meet his aunt, who was visiting from California and happened to be sitting next to us. It made the whole experience feel incredibly welcoming and personal. We ordered the Dynamite Roll, which was a solid choice with 8 generous pieces, and the Szechuan spicy wontons, which were juicy with just the right amount of heat. If you visit, definitely grab a seat at the bar. The bartenders are friendly, engaging, and really add to the experience. We were treated to a complimentary shot of Jäger with Jason and even got to sample their Lychee Pearl cocktail because the bartender had made an extra. The cocktails really stood out. Instead of masking everything with sugary juices, they use extracts and creative techniques to build balanced drinks that complement the flavors beautifully. Jason also mentioned that their cocktail specials change every month, so we already told him we'll be back regularly to see what new creations he comes up with.

Our group of five sampled a great variety from the menu, including the Hot & Numbing Tofu Skin, Crab Roe Soup Dumplings, Cucumber Salad, Lettuce Wraps, Cumin Fish, Stir-Fried Beef Tenderloin, Crispy Pork Ribs with Scallion Crisps and Mixed Grain & Purple Rice, Stir-Fried Beef with Chilies, and Kung Pao Chicken with white rice. The standout for me was the cumin fish. It was fried perfectly--crispy without being greasy--and the cumin added great flavor without overpowering the dish. The crispy pork ribs lived up to their name and had a nice kick of spice. The cucumber salad packed a serious garlic punch, which I really enjoyed. The Hot & Numbing Tofu Skin was something completely different from what I expected. It's sliced into long ribbons that resemble noodles or pasta. The flavor was excellent, although the texture took some getting used to. The only dish that fell a little short was the stir-fried beef tenderloin, which could have used a bit more seasoning. Everything else was delicious. The portions are enormous. At first the prices seemed a little high, but once the food arrived it made perfect sense. Every entrée was easily enough for two meals. One thing to keep in mind is that rice is ordered separately and isn't included with the entrées. Service was excellent throughout our meal. We arrived for lunch and didn't realize they close between lunch and dinner (lunch is served from 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.). We ended up staying until about 2:45, and the staff never made us feel rushed even though they had technically closed. They greeted us promptly, took our drink orders, and gave us plenty of time to look over the menu without hovering. The restaurant is tucked away on the ground floor of an office building, so it's easy to drive right past if you aren't looking for it. Parking was plentiful, and the oversized booths comfortably fit all five of us without feeling cramped. If you're dining with a group and want to sample a variety of authentic dishes, Mama Chang is definitely worth the visit.

The place was filling up and the ambiance reminds me of a traditional bustling noodle house - perfect for the cold snap we were experiencing at the time. We got hot and sour noodle soup, sichuan beef noodle soup, and an order of their pork soup dumplings. Portions are generous and prices are fair, it's easy to become a regular here if you live nearby. The hot and sour noodle soup is as advertised - just enough spice to complement the sour, but not overwhelm to make it feel like mala. It's served, as expected, with glass noodles, some bak choi, and some pork slices. Nothing spectacular but par for the course. The sichuan beef noodle foon soup was slight notch better. The broth gives really warm vibe and you can tell it's been brothing for a long time. Again just the right amount of spicy to make you keep slurping for more. The noodles were average, chewy, but not bouncy. Also comes with a healthy amount beef slices and bak choi. Again - a great noodle soup bowl but nothing jaw dropping. Soup dumplings were fantastic, however. The pork definitely has its own marinade and the soup is flavorful. The dumpling skin is well constructed and complemented well with the noodle soups - especially in cold weather. tldr; solid noodle soup spot, they seem to be consistent and really hits the mark when you're in a for your noodle fix. Soup dumplings are probably a must get side dish with whatever your main is
