We ordered from here because we've heard from friends around town how good the food is, as well as all of the outstanding reviews here on Yelp. We ordered takeout/delivery. The only reason there were any stars to the review is because we ordered fun & mein. It was obvious that they use fresh noodles! Such a rarity these days in most restaurants. It was a pleasant surprise. Why only 2 stars? The entire meal was flavorless. We ordered Mongolian chow fun. There was hardly any flavor, definitely not the spicy Mongolian we were looking for. The hot & sour soup was strange tasting & extra thick. Even the sweet & sour sauce served with the spring rolls was watered-down! Who does that? It was incredibly strange. It was really unfortunate. We were really looking forward to a tasty Chinese meal, especially after all of the great reviews, not to mention the money we spent. Maybe their chef was off? Or just an off night at the restaurant? The food is very good, and in my opinion that's what keeps this place from going under. One person simply cannot take the orders, pour the water, serve the dishes, run the register, answer the phones and help the uber/dash guys. You can see the frustration and bewilderment when people come in and they wonder what the heck is going on. I came here Christmas night for dinner with my family and was impressed with this place. I am gluten free and they were super accommodating with that, letting me know which dishes can be made GF and which cannot. They had a wide variety of ones that could be made GF which was amazing. I usually get really nervous going to Asian food because there is a lot of hidden gluten but they took care of me! All of the food we ordered was awesome, from the hot and sour soup and seafood soup, to the broccoli beef and prawns with seafood - all was great! We always order to go from Nanking. We don't bother to try any other Chinese as we have been so disappointed by everyone else. Food is delicious and always consistent which I appreciate so much. The staff is kind and professional and also very accommodating when we ask for certain things such as spicier or milder flavor in dishes we order. Hidden Gem! Wow. This was some of the best Chinese food I've had. And I've had a lot throughout the years. The Chow Fun was so delicious I couldn't stop eating it! The Spicy String Bean Chicken, Wor Wonton Soup, prawns with Cashews were all fantastic! We also ordered the dumplings and they were so good. I've driven by this place many times and wondered about it. Recently I heard some people talking about it and decided to try it. The service was really good. We discovered that we had not had GREAT Chinese food until we happened upon this place in Danville. My husband stated that this was the best Chinese food that he has had in a long, long time. This place is great, instantly becoming our go-to Chinese restaurant. The food was very tasty. True, there are no condiments on the table, but weren't really necessary. I ordered the Cumin Lamb and asked for it spicy, and it was fantastic! Another in our group had the Ginger Garlic Prawns and Scallops, which was subtly flavored, but also excellent. All the dishes were well presented and visually appealing. The restaurant is nicely decorated and very clean. Our server was very friendly and quite accommodating. We have ordered many times with very good quality. We overlooked the fact they forgot certain items a few times. The last time we ordered the food quantity was substantially less. I called them to just let them know , had no plans to write a review, but one of the workers came on the phone and argued with me - she said the food quantity was the same and we were wrong. My wife and I , as soon as we opened the container, had realized the quantity was about 60 percent of normal- we had ordered this dish many times , so we knew we were right. I called them to just let them know so that it would not happen in the future. We ordered off the regular menu the 1st time (Salt & Pepper Fish, & Crispy Noodles with Beef n Veggies), and Lunch menu the 2nd (General's Chicken, & BBQ Pork with Veggies). The Fish was light, Crispy and Oh So Good, The Noodles were cooked to perfection, the beef was tender and tasty, the Brown Sauce ... mmmmmmmmmmmm ... my wife & I kept saying "It' So GOOD!" The General's Chicken, juicy tender breast meat cooked to perfection, tossed in a delish sauce and served with broccoli, rice, and crunchy wanton skins. The BBQ pork & veggies had the same brown sauce as the noodles so you know my wife was very happy with her lunch :) :) :) Combine the nice decor, really good music, friendly service and smiles, and GREAT food - it's a total winner. 5 STARS all around! Finally! The opening of Nanking Bistro (formerly Little Namking of San Leandro!) Have waited 8 months for them to find a new place in Danville on Hartz Avenue next to the Foster Freeze and continue on with their delicious culinary skills! There is plenty of parking spaces in front. Was not disappointed! Everything was cooked to perfection and tasted scrumptious! Some of our favorite dishes are the Hot and Sour Soup, Salt and Pepper Prawns, Spicy Chicken With Honey Sesame, Szechuan Eggplant and Basil, and the Mongolian Black Bean Beef Chow Fun!
