    Mongolian Beef Lunch Special

I don't think it's an oversell to claim this might be the best Chinese food in Walnut Creek, at the very least. Not the entire East Bay but definitely Walnut Creek. The food is by no means dirt cheap (nothing is anymore these days) if you don't get the lunch specials but you still get absolutely fantastic value in very generous portions and solid customer service. It's also not in downtown Walnut Creek proper which means it's in an actual parking lot with plentiful parking spots and no need to pay for it. All this to say, China Palace is going to be my family's go to for Chinese food whenever we're in Walnut Creek.

Such a hidden gem! The flavors were amazing, portions were huge, and everything came out piping hot. Perfect comfort food when you're craving classic Chinese dishes. Great service by Judy! Thank you :) Highly recommend!

OK we've been on the hunt for an authentic Chinese restaurant in Concord. We stumbled upon China Palace. When we walked in we were greeted and we sat down. The owner Judy was very engaging and she asked how we found out about the place. She proceeded to tell me that her husband makes the sauces from scratch etc. And her nephews are the cooks as well. She was super friendly. We asked how long she's been there and she told us 13 years I can't believe I've never even seen this place .. She was so engaging . We ordered honey walnut prawns, Mongolian beef, chicken chow mein, steamed rice and general tsaos chicken . We ordered 2 beers as well. This place did not disappoint!! The honey walnut prawns and the chicken had a glaze on it but the batter itself stayed crispy the whole time! A lot of times it can get soggy. Everything had lots of flavor . We definitely will be back, we can wait to try other items on the menu

We were in the area and I was craving for Chinese food. With 2.1k reviews for an average of 4.5 stars, I thought it was going to be good...but it was regretful at the end. The service was ok, the food was ok, and definitely was just ok with the price they charged! We ordered four dishes, including the shrimp wonton soup, fried rice, general Tso's chicken, and tofu vegetables. The shrimp and wonton soup was not that flavorful. The average price of about $20/dish was painful. Did I order the wrong dishes. I don't know, but I agree with another reviewer, I won't be coming back since the price was so high for just simple dishes at a normal Chinese restaurant.

China palace was very kind and accommodating to our timing request & vegan modifications for our employee event lunch. The food was delicious but plain because we had to modify for vegans so that is a factor but everyone loved the food & requested it again next year!

Very delicious!!! Judy is great!! Very friendly staff. Nice and clean. Again the food is fabulous!!

Went to my favorite china restaurant today, and it just feels like home. There were three other customers in there in there we were sitting across the room from each other and we all started talking about how good the food and the company is there. One gentleman said it's like going to his mom's house to get good food. He's a truck driver and said he comes there every chance he gets!! Great food and great service!!! Thank you

Another fantastic experience at China Palace. Hands down our favorite Chinese restaurant in the East Bay‼ Judy , the owner and her family always treat us like family The food is phenomenal and plentiful The setting is small and very cozy.

Walked in here for some hot and sour soup, and had some fried rice and Sichuan chicken. The food was typical and nothing to write home about, but the service was kind, prompt and caring. It showed in then greeting their patrons and asking about them courteously. Stop by and support this restaurant if you're in the area!

I honestly don't know where to begin. The owner gave me aunty vibes lol and I love that! I felt like I was home. She made sure I was ok and the food was prepared properly. I ordered the crab puffs (crispy, flavorful and a good size portion). The sweet and sour pork came right out the wok! Hot crispy with fresh veggies mixed in. And last but not least, the bbq pork fried rice, the star of the show! That reminded me of my childhood favorite restaurant (Golden Palace), ironically this place is called China Palace and that's what caught my eye. Needless to say, I'm glad I paid a visit because the service was awesome and the food was amazing!

Judy's and Jason's is the best food in all the land!

As I was serving the soup, I noticed something unusual. When I picked it out and placed it on the counter, it was clearly a yellow worm. Completely shocked, I contacted Uber Eats customer service. They only offered a refund for the soup, not the chow fun, because the issue wasn't visible in that item. But honestly, how am I supposed to feel comfortable eating anything else from the same order after finding a worm in one dish? I then called the restaurant to report what happened, and instead of addressing the seriousness of the issue, the manager asked what we wanted them to do and even offered free food. That response was disappointing and didn't feel appropriate given the situation. It's unfortunate because we've ordered from here before and the food was good, but after this experience, we couldn't bring ourselves to eat the rest of the meal. Dinner and our appetite was completely ruined and it came with a price.

This isn't always created equally. lol some places it almost looks like they served frozen store bought siu Mai, but this was legit! Honey walnut prawns - I'm obsessed with this!! It was perfectly cooked! Nice and crispy on the outside and the shrimp fully cooked on the inside. Fried shrimp dumpling: this is my go to at most dumplings sum places. It was delish! Chicken Crispy Noodles: this is the star of the show for me. Their pan fried noodles are perfect. It reminds me of a place I used to go to in sf when I was in middle school which is no longer there. Mapo tofu: this is hubby's favorite. We really enjoyed it and will definitely get it again! This is a restaurant where the menu doesn't just list dishes...it teaches you something. The moment you open the menu, you know you're in the right place. The Cold Plate (冷盤) section alone reads like a passport stamp to Chengdu: BEEF TRIPE & BEEF FLAKE (夫妻肺片) - tender, numbing, and electric with Sichuan peppercorns. If you know, you know. Sliced Pork with Spicy Garlic (蒜泥白肉) - silky, rich, and packed with real chili heat. North Sichuan Green Pea Jelly (川北冷粉) - hot, sour, spicy, and addictive. Spicy Pig Ear (紅油豬耳) - crunchy, aromatic, and perfectly done. Jellyfish Salad (葱油海蜇) - refreshing, light, and authentically seasoned. These aren't "safe choices for the American palate." These are dishes straight from the Sichuan playbook, and they are done properly. And then the entrées -- highlights worth calling out: Sichuan Tea-Smoked Duck (香辣樟茶鴨) - smoky, spicy, fragrant; a dish you don't see done right very often. They nail it. Boiled Fish Fillet in Chili Oil (水煮魚片) - a must-order for anyone who really understands Sichuan cuisine. Beautiful heat and numbing balance. Cumin Beef or Lamb (孜然牛/羊肉) - bold, aromatic, and cooked with confidence. Dry-Fried Green Beans (干扁四季豆) - textbook execution. The menu is huge, but instead of feeling generic, it feels like a curated journey through Sichuan: hot pots, clay pots, seafood, offal, noodles, cold appetizers, and delicacies you rarely see outside China. This is one of the few restaurants in the East Bay where I'd confidently send someone who says, "I want real Sichuan."
