Food: The menu looked complete, they had plenty of options ranging from Curries, Salads, Noodles etc. I have to admit I was seeking the highly elusive Khao Soi. It was not on the menu, bummer man. With that being said, I ordered the Duck Curry with Rice. Our table also ordered the Pad Kee Mao, Papaya Salad (Thai style), and the Chicken Fried Rice. The presentation for all of the dishes was fantastic, plated very well, beautiful flower garnishes. The flavor across all of the dishes met expectations and exceed some. This is the best Thai food I've ever had. Better than anything I had in Thailand (and I ate my whole way though Thailand last year). Technically 3.5 stars so rounded to 4. Came with friend for Saturday lunch. The place is tucked in a side street in downtown Danville, with public parking at the end of the street. Convenient enough as I don't like parallel parking on the street. There are both inside and outside seating. We selected inside as we both have allergy. The place is nicely decorated with a warm feel with fresh flower on each table. We were informed of availability of lunch specials while checking out the menu so decided to get lunch special sets. We ordered mango prawns, prawns with eggplant, and glass noodle salad. Interestingly the rice plates were served way before the salad. Nothing is spicy which was a surprise to me so I asked for chilli. The food is nicely plated with fresh orchids. Everything was flavorful but tasted the same. A bit too sweet for me. The Thai iced tea on the other hand was very good and not as sweet as other places. The service was a bit slow but we were in no rush so was okay. Will not be on my list of must return as the dishes ordered all tasted the same. My sister and I had dinner. The restaurant is cozy and intimate. Service was very good. We ordered their Isaan herb sausage. It had a sour taste and it was bland. We asked our server if it was the flavor and she said yes. She checked with the kitchen. We didn't see or taste any herbs like lemongrass or kaffir lime leaves. I don't recommend this item. Next, we had their deep fried branzino. It was very good. I like their side cilantro dipping sauce. It was unique. Old Town Danville Gem: Warm Vibe, Stellar Service, and Authentic Thai Cuisine! My family and I stumbled upon Bungalow on Rose, an incredible spot in Old Town Danville for a Veteran's Day lunch, and we absolutely fell in love. From the moment we walked in, the restaurant gave off this wonderfully warm, home-like vibe, which was matched by truly excellent, attentive service. This is the kind of place you feel instantly comfortable in. Our hostess was Angie and she was amazing in recommending the dishes and provided us with a lot of background story of the origins of the dishes! We started with a trio of appetizers, each one fantastic: * Curry Fries with Braised Wagyu Beef: Absolutely amazing! The fries were warm and crispy, perfectly complemented by the tender Wagyu and the addition of beans. This is a must-try starter. * Fresh Vegetable Spring Rolls: These were beautifully prepared, tasting incredibly fresh with an amazing presentation that made them look as appetizing as they tasted. * Blistered Garlic Green Beans: A perfect side--they were crunchy, had a wonderful texture, and were tossed in an amazing sauce with layers of flavor. For our main courses, we ordered from the special lunch menu, and everything was a hit: * My son devoured the Red Curry Beef with Eggplant, which he declared "great" and loved every bite. * My wife's Jumbo Prawns with kabocha squash, basil, tamarind, and red curry was really yummy. The prawns were noticeably fresh and cooked just right. * I had the Pan-Roasted Salmon Fillet with grilled vegetables, kaffir lime leaves, and red curry. The salmon itself was baked fine, but the combination of the ingredients made the dish an overall winner--the flavors were vibrant and complex. * The only small critique came from my friend, who got the BBQ Pork Ribs. While they were nice, they were slightly harder (less tender) than expected. For Dessert we tried the following items and they were divine: * Sweet Mango with pea flower infused sticky rice- this was amazing specially the rice was warm * Coconut Cake with pudding that is a local Esaan Province special dish- this was just too good. We washed it all down with couple Beers and a classic Thai Iced Tea, which was good and refreshing. Overall, we loved everything about this place. The calamari was pretty good. The batter stayed on and the calamari wasn't chewy. The manasaman curry reminded me of beef stew with mashed potatoes. I'd pass on this dish. The cocktail was light, crisp, and refreshing. Tip: happy hour from 5-6pm which means this was only $10 :) The ambiance was charming and very homey. The duck, the shrimp with amazing sauce, I kept spooning it off my spouses plate onto my mouth even though I had a great beef dish but it wasn't fandango beef or green nor red curry. More like med rare steak and wonderful sauces, food for all. They are SO accommodating as well. Cant go wrong with chicken satay but the star for apps for me was the garlic green beans, wow. I will update post Holiday for 2nd visit. A must try is the Lychee Lemonade. Thai Tea is good but the lemonade was different. I had hot tea also. Nice small patio outside as well. We changed due to too chilly weather and the christmas tree is a nice beau touch. This time I will be getting another smothered gravy duck plate! Their sauces. We visited this restaurant on Mother's Day and called about an hour in advance to make a reservation. The hostess told us there was one table available at 3:30 PM, so we hurried to arrive on time. When we got there, however, most of the restaurant was empty. Because there was an unpleasant odor inside, we requested outdoor seating. Despite several outdoor tables being available, we were asked to wait about 15 minutes before being seated. Unfortunately, the food and drinks were equally disappointing. The beef Pad See Ew was overly salty, with an overpowering fish sauce flavor, and was not enjoyable. The Thai iced tea and chicken fried rice were both bland and lacked flavor. Given the mediocre food, inattentive service, and high prices, the experience did not live up to the restaurant's reputation. The woman at the front acted as though the restaurant was fully reserved and rushed us to decide quickly, yet once inside, nearly all the tables were empty and there were barely any customers. We asked to sit outside because the inside smelled strongly of old seafood, but the interaction felt unnecessarily dismissive and unwelcoming.
