While the outside neither the inside is the best, this place has good food. And it's especially a good deal during lunch because then you can get lunch meals. The ambiance is still nice though as it's never too crowded and it's usually almost always quiet. The service is also good as they are nice and professional with making sure that your drinks are constantly filled up, and cleaning up dirty dishes. The food is still the main key here or the focus of this restaurant as it is just flavorful and there is so much to choose from. The place may tend to look empty or quiet on the outside, but it still is fun to get food at and have gatherings too. It still has a unique feel to it on the outside too as it used to be an Arby's a long time ago and you can still see the remains of the drive thru it used to have. read more

I've been to this restaurant two other times for family gatherings, and today wasn't any different as we are in celebration of two of my cousins birthdays. My family ordered sweet-and-sour pork, lemon, chicken, broccoli beef, a shrimp, vegetable dish, and a three meat crown, along with BBQ pork fried rice, an appetizer tray consisting of egg rolls, crab rangoon, and shrimp tempura, and lastly a hot and sour soup. After consuming a little bit of everything, what I can say is that some of the main items had inconsistencies with texture. The two that stood out most was the sweet-and-sour pork and the lemon chicken, as both dishes contained a mixture of fairly cooked and overcooked pieces. Everything else was cooked perfectly fine, but I noticed that the flavoring for the shrimp vegetable dish and the three meat crown didn't blend just right. However, the broccoli beef, BBQ pork fried rice, appetizer tray and hot and sour soup all were totally fine. Aside from the so-so meal, the staff was very accommodating and attentive and the atmosphere was very pleasant. Even though there were multiple tables of gas guests, the place was spaced out enough to the point you could hardly tell anyone else was there. It was ideal for more intimacy and engagement for patrons and it should definitely be spotlighted for that. Overall, I give it a 3/5. read more

We have been to this Chinese spot multiple times. You get a healthy amount of of food and it is family owned and local. We had the A La carte chow mein and chow fun that can be split amongst 2-4 along with the asparagus beef dinner plate, the broccoli beef dinner plate and the Peking prawns dinner plate. While waiting in the entrance area, it was clear this is an old establishment that needs some renovation. There were some local old time diners who maybe more nostalgically committed to this restaurant. The war wonton soup was disappointing. The filler was no where near what one would consider good quality protein. There were separate decent proteins & vegetables in the soup as expected. It's far less sodium in everything, to a degree that you do believe it is all prepared on location. It was all delicious, fresh, and the service was outstanding. My favorite dish here is their version of Pad-Thai, so much vegetable, egg, tofu and shrimp, and not too much noodles(great for low carb diet). And the dish is not greasy at all, after I finished the food, the plate hardly has any oil on it. I've always crave for this dish when I am close by, very different from other places. I have been driving past Shangrila for over 20 years and never ate here. We decided to change that today and ordered "to go" through Yelp. It was quite a hefty meal with 6 dishes - broccoli beef, bok choy and mushrooms, chow mein pad thai, sweet and sour fish and honey walnut prawns - all for just under $100. We fed a family of 4 adults and still have leftovers! Everything was pretty good. All of the "saucy" items had plenty of sauce to keep the food moist and mix in with your rice. My favorite was the fish fillet. The pieces of fish were pretty big and very tender. The honey walnut prawns were a little different from what I am used to - they were a bit crunchy. Probably that was a sugar glaze or something but it's not what I'm used to eating. My least favorite was the pad thai. These were thin rice noodles which appeared to crack while being cooked, so they were basically small pieces of noodles. That being said, it's a Chinese restaurant and not a thai restaurant, so I guess my expectations should have been set differently. I'm glad we finally ate here. This will be on our list! read more

I think this place may have transferred through several different owners in the last 10 years. Some dishes have been consistent while others have not. We used to love a tofu dish here until one day we ordered it and came out as a totally different dish from what we were familiar with. Thankfully my favorite dish from here has remained unchanged. The General Tso's chicken! The chicken pieces are lathered in just enough sauce to still keep them crispy. I usually get the lunch special and the portions are fairly generous. Honestly it is enough food for 2 but I still eat all of it by myself! You can call ahead to order or just walk in for pickup orders. Dine in is also an option. In my experience they wait for most of the orders to get cooked so the food all comes out around the same time for everyone. The food was good. This time i ordered 2 dinner specials with Mongolian beef & general tso's chicken. Both were freshly prepared and yummy. I've been here twice now, once for dinner and once for lunch, and both experiences were good. The portions for their plates are really generous; I haven't been able to finish my plate either time and went home with leftovers. If kung pao chicken is on the menu, I'm gonna order it, and theirs is pretty tasty. Only complaint about it is that it could stand to be just a *touch* less sweet, but it's not a huge issue. Has a good kick of heat and chunks of bamboo shoots rather than strips, which is how most places tend to cut it. The chow mein is good here too, with nice chewy noodles and a good amount of meat and vegetables no matter which variety you go with. The potstickers are stuffed with juicy, tender meat. The hot and sour soup is really nice here. Lots of tofu and mushroom and the broth is a good balance between both flavors. It's been especially satisfying during this cold winter and is a solid opening to the meal. The standout dish I've had here was the asparagus beef chow fun. It wasn't greasy or oily (which some chow fun can be), the noodles had a great chew, and there was a lot of beef. The asparagus was crisp without being undercooked. The next time I stop by, I may just order that as my main entree instead of as a side to share with the table because it was really, really good. This place is a good value for your money, which I'm especially appreciative of these days. I've had the same waiter both times, an older guy who isn't particularly friendly but isn't nasty either, but the people behind the counter are always super welcoming.
