Bf and I grabbed some Chinese from this spot to go and it was delicious! My fav was the fried rice. The orange chicken was way too chewy, but the kung pao was very good. The pot stickers were top quality, and the Szechuan combo was delish, very spicy!! I would recommend this place for sure. 7/10

I've been to this restaurant two other times for family gatherings, and today wasn't any different as we are in celebration of two of my cousins birthdays. My family ordered sweet-and-sour pork, lemon, chicken, broccoli beef, a shrimp, vegetable dish, and a three meat crown, along with BBQ pork fried rice, an appetizer tray consisting of egg rolls, crab rangoon, and shrimp tempura, and lastly a hot and sour soup. After consuming a little bit of everything, what I can say is that some of the main items had inconsistencies with texture. The two that stood out most was the sweet-and-sour pork and the lemon chicken, as both dishes contained a mixture of fairly cooked and overcooked pieces. Everything else was cooked perfectly fine, but I noticed that the flavoring for the shrimp vegetable dish and the three meat crown didn't blend just right. However, the broccoli beef, BBQ pork fried rice, appetizer tray and hot and sour soup all were totally fine. Aside from the so-so meal, the staff was very accommodating and attentive and the atmosphere was very pleasant. Even though there were multiple tables of gas guests, the place was spaced out enough to the point you could hardly tell anyone else was there. It was ideal for more intimacy and engagement for patrons and it should definitely be spotlighted for that. Overall, I give it a 3/5.

Ordered from Uber eats glazed walnut shrimp. Only received shrimp no streamed rice, noodles or an egg roll ..missing 3 items! If it's listed in the description we should be getting it.

Service was efficient and polite. Can't speak to the dining room ambience as this was takeout. While waiting in the entrance area, it was clear this is an old establishment that needs some renovation. There were some local old time diners who maybe more nostalgically committed to this restaurant. The war wonton soup was disappointing. The filler was no where near what one would consider good quality protein. There were separate decent proteins & vegetables in the soup as expected. However, some of the shrimp in the soup was mushy which indicate they were soaked in baking soda too long.

I eat here once or twice a month. This day my 22 red hat friends celebrated The Year of the Horse. The one waitress did a fantastic job. The food is always fresh, reasonably priced and always welcoming. Carpet keeps it quiet, and able to talk and white linens make it extra special.

Same, consistent goodness for the 23 years I've been visiting!!

Always the best!! Picked up "to go" last night and my lemon chicken was still screamin hot when I opened it up at home. Service is friendly, prompt and gracious. I don't eat in the restaurant often but it is the first Chinese restaurant I visited when I began working in this area 24 years ago... have always loved it.

For anyone coming, the parking can be really bad as it shares probably 20 or so spots with several other restaurants. It's near impossible to park nearby with the alternative of parking near the Panera's or even the target. There's plenty of tables and seats inside, and it was pretty slow when we dined in. Convenient televisions on two different sides where all the workers were casually watching, and quite the chatter in the kitchen where they're all watching the World Cup. That doesn't really affect service however as they're quite attentive when called for. We ordered the salted fish and chicken fried rice, and the medium bbq platter with char sound soy sauce chicken. All very delicious! The only thing is that they can bit on the pricier side with $20 for the fried rice and $30 for the bbq plate. Overall, I thought grand cafe definitely scratched our itch for Cantonese style dining experience. It typically comes with great food, good service, and a bit of nostalgia from being from the Bay Area.

My brother and I met a few friends here for dinner on 11/28/2025. At around 7:15pm, the place was completely full. Fortunately, our friends arrived a little earlier and secured a table. The interior was clean. A couple TVs on the walls were showing different sporting and news programs. Their menu featured a wide array of non-Americanized Cantonese fare. We decided to do family style and got half a dozen dishes to share. They were: Beef Filet with Mixed Mushrooms, 1lb of BBQ Pork, Fujian Fried Rice, Beef Chow Fun with Gravy, House Pan Fried Noodles, and Salted Pork Bone and Peanut Porridge. Our food arrived in about 15 minutes. Overall, I was impressed by quality and authenticity. Despite the slightly higher price point comparing to other similar restaurants, they didn't skimp on anything. The rice and noodle dishes were loaded with delicious toppings, and the taste was on point. The BBQ pork and the beef filet dish were both fantastic. The meat/fat ratio of the BBQ pork was just right, and the beef filet cubes were tender and flavorful. The porridge was just okay. My mom's version still reigns supreme. Service we received was very good. Our server was very friendly and gave us helpful suggestions. She did forget our iced water, but I am willing to overlook that. I got a chance the chat with staff before we left, they were all very genuine and friendly people. Overall, I was very pleased with my experience here. The food was authentic and tasty, and the staff were friendly and helpful. If you want authentic Cantonese food but don't want to pay the super premium price, this is definitely a good option for you. I will return. 4 solid stars.

Unfortunately, my recent visit was incredibly disappointing. The food quality has gone downhill, the prices have become excessive, and what bothered me most was feeling misled by the billing. A cucumber special was advertised at $5.95, but when the bill arrived, the charge was $14.90. On top of that, an automatic gratuity was added to a table of only three people with one of them being 4 year old. She barely even ate with tea price per person. I don't mind paying premium prices for great food and service, but I do expect transparency. Many of the dim sum items also felt extremely overpriced, $9 for two egg tarts is hard to justify and sadly they weren't worth that. Felt like it was not fresh. It's unfortunate because this used to be a place I genuinely looked forward to visiting. Sadly, I don't see myself returning anytime soon.

Overall, I really enjoyed the food here. The chicken rice was aromatic, flavorful and had a really nice texture to it. The chicken is tender and the thin outer skin has a gelatinous quality to it like a well-prepared Hainanese chicken. Honestly I had no notes on this dish. Hard to improve. I generally avoid roast duck at restaurants because of how fatty it is, but the one here was surprisingly good. While there were a few pieces with a thick section of fat between the skin and the meat, the majority of the pieces had a nice balance. There's a sweet tangy sauce that's included on the side with the duck that I really enjoyed as well. If you're looking for lean duck, you'll probably want to stick with the Chiu Chow marinated duck. Service is pretty minimal here, but our waitress stopped by our table once to refill our waters and to check on how we liked the food. Overall, 4.5 stars rounding up to a 5.

A few minutes later they called back to ask if I wanted bone in or boneless. I told them bone in was fine, I just didn't want the skin. When I got home and ate it, the food was okay overall. The chicken was cold, not like it had been sitting out, but more like it had just come out of the refrigerator. The peanuts were actually a nice touch and added good flavor and texture. I also liked the ginger sauce they poured over the chicken, but there really wasn't enough of it. I wish they gave extra on the side in a separate container. The side veggies were okay too. It came with cucumbers, quail eggs, and fungus. I ate everything except the fungus. It had a very unique flavor that I just couldn't get into. Overall it wasn't bad, but I've definitely had better Hainan chicken elsewhere, so I'm not sure if I'd come back again.

Susie lives in the Bay Area and chose this restaurant. I was skeptical about keeping the cost low as we were having dim sum. I was afraid it would be outrageously expensive and not filling enough. She proved me wrong. Excluding the tea and other drinks it came to $30 per person and that included tax and tip. This was cheaper then the last banquet we had and I actually enjoyed most of the dishes here. The only dish I didn't have was the scallop and shrimp dumplings as the order came out with only 3 and there was 11 us at the table. I'm not sure how that was supposed to feed the table. We arrived at 11:10am and to ensure we weren't late. The parking lot was packed when we arrived. Saying that we only had to go up and down two isles to find a parking space. I have to add that the parking spaces were tight. We had the Honda Pilot and it barely fit in a space and that isn't the biggest car out there. We were told that our table was on the 2nd floor and to go to the side door. We walked around the side and found a door. There was not signage indicating it was part of the restaurant. The right side was locked, but the left side was unlocked. When we entered we were warmed with a sigh that said the floor was wet and to beware of slipping. They had a staircase to the left and a elevator to the right. That was a blessing, I know some of our party wouldn't have made it to the banquet with out the elevator. When we exited the elevator we were met by a staff member with their cart waiting to do downstairs. So the elevator serves guests and staff alike. When we got out of the elevator the staff member pointed us down the hall. We stopped at the bathroom on the way down the hall. Once we found the restaurant we were pointed to the back where we joined our party. We had 3 tables in the back which was nice. It beats being out in the open and disturbing everyone as we stood around chit chatted prior to being served. I felt bad for the table of 2 that were posted right next to the wall near our party. They just had a bad table. All the other tables upstairs were farther away and didn't feel like they were in our space. I have to add that the service was great. They kept coming to refill the waters and tea pot with tea, not just hot water. And we never felt rushed. We had a nice table on the edge of our tables agains the wall that we were able to hang our family tree. We are all 1st, 2nd and 3rd cousins and some of us have never met the others before so we really needed a family tree that color coded what generation you were. My favorite dish was the steamed sticky rice in Lotus root, next was the BBQ Pork Buns, third was the shrimp and pork dumplings. Though I don't recall seeing any shrimp in those dumplings.Thought they were big and meaty. My least favorite was the green onion pancake. It just wasn't fluffy and flakey. It was too dense and lacked flavor. And a little greasy. We had 12 dishes and were filled with some chow fun left over. The chow fun wasn't that great. It was filled with beef which was good, but it lacked sauce and the noodles weren't all that.
