I ordered food for delivery while I was visiting Annapolis. I had Volcano Beef and General Tao's Chicken. The food arrived so fast I thought it must have been pre made or microwaved. The chicken was overdone (don't ask me how they got it overdone so quickly) and the sauce was nothing to write home about. General Tao's is a stand by for me when I want really bad Chinese food and this dish wouldn't stand up to most cheap takeout Chinese places. The beef was also overdone and the sauce thick and under spiced with an unbelievable amount of zucchini. When I started this review Nano was 3 stars,mainly for the service and quick delivery. But thinking back on how mediocre the food was, I can't give it more than a two. read more

Nano's should be called Nono's. The inner decor should have been the first sign that there is something a little fishy about this place. I am a sushi lover and in haste took my boyfriend and his sister here thinking that it was really a sushi place I went to a year earlier. Miso soup was okay. Side Ginger salad was some wet lettuce with a splash of orange food coloring. I was astonished how fast the food came out! It was nearly instant gratification, I'd say it on par with the speed of a drive through. My friend who does not like sushi ordered an Asian stir fry dish from the back of the menu. It looked and smelled disgusting. She sent it back to have it be replaced with the most mediocre pad thai. Although, I am not sure expected anything else from Japanese restaurant. My boyfriend said the Philly roll was unfullfilling. DO NOT waste your money here. Service was slow for it being 3pm and only 4 other tables being occupied. Conclusion: Over priced low quality Japanese food. Will never go here again and advise others to do the same. read more

Nano is a great place with a neighborhood feel. The owner is very friendly, and the food is yum yum yummy! They have the longest sushi bar in Annapolis. We loved the Valentine and Volcano rolls, and the Jade Fried Rice is unique and delicious. Nano has good mixed drinks and a cool little private Tatami room in the back. Such a horrible experience here! Servers are not attentive. Didn't refill water or tea. Chirasi cost $20 with no salad or soup. They even charged us 20% tips on a party of 5. I should have questioned the servers, does their service worth 20% of tips?!!! I suggest go to Tsunami or Sakura. read more

Nano is our go-to. The sushi is always fresh and delicious. We love their appetizers and just about everything else on the menu as well. We go here on the most casual lunch trips and for more formal occasions like anniversaries and birthday dinners. Sitting in the floor in the back room is fun too. When Joss is just too busy this place is a close second. Allow me to say that their sushi is fresh, clean, and a really good value for a downtown joint. The sake is hot, the sushi selection is pretty standard, and well hey, the atmosphere is pretty nice. After a day of shopping in downtown Annapolis, my friend and I were in the mood for sushi and walked into Nano's. We were greeted and promptly seated. The customer service was great and efficient. The menu also had a great selection. Where they lost points was in the taste. It tasted fresh, but very BLAND! I got the Annapolitan which had mango in it, but you could not taste it. My friend had the stop drop and roll it (i think that's what it was called) and it was supposed to have spicy guacamole in it. In order for it to even have a kick she had to order spicy mayo on the side! Our Philadelphia rolls were sub-par. It was pretty much just salmon and rice. The cream cheese (my favorite part) was barely even proportioned. Sorry Nano's, but I was not impressed. read more

Went there last Wednesday nite with my wife. We went at a great time around 9:30pm and we pretty much had the place to ourselves. Very good Sushi, huge rolls with enough for leftovers. What really made the experience even better was the owner came over and personally checked on us. I've been to sushi bars in Hawaii, LA, and San Diego, and this is definitely one of the best. However, I judge sushi bars based on specialty rolls. My sister also thinks so, and she thinks it's better than most sushi bars on the islands. She lives overseas and is always jealous when we come here. Of course, i'm only talking about sushi because I don't go there for any of the entrees. However, my boyfriend says the chicken curry is always awesome. The crazy horse sushi is definitely a must. The maki sushi is ok, but the rice is kind of dry in those. The fried tofu is really good. It's only a bit over the average price for sushi, but it is well worth it. It's definitely all of the Naval Academy students' favorite place to eat and get delivered to school (which is a plus!). read more

I still love Nano. I've tried multiple different rolls and food items since my last review. I still order my same old rolls but recently I've been loving the Stop Drop and Roll: it's shrimp tempura, cucumber, imitation crab, and spicy avocado. It's one of my favorite rolls to share. Went with friends for dinner and drinks on a Saturday night. There was no one in the restaurant, which should have been a warning. Ordered some basic sushi rolls as an appetizer, and they were average. The problem came with the entrees. I ordered chicken teriyaki. When it came out, it looked fantastic. But when I took a bite of the chicken, it was so rubbery that it was actually crunchy. I am not generally picky, but there was something very wrong with this chicken. I called the waitress over and explained the situation and she took my chicken back to the kitchen, but she never apologized or asked me if I wanted anything else. She actually never returned to our table after taking my food away. We sat there with empty glasses the rest of the meal. My friends ordered the pineapple fried rice, which was full of rubbery chicken, and the mango snapper. The guy who ate the mango snapper got violently ill about an hour and a half later. When the check came, the waitress had not removed my teriyaki chicken that I sent back. After some arguing, she came back with a new check with that dish removed. But again, no apology or offer to bring something else. Above all, there is something strange about this place. The waitress seemed very shy and did not speak much English at all. She did not smile. The kitchen staff who brought our food out spoke no English and made no eye contact. The owners were nearby at all times, watching them. (Except once I sent my food back. Then we couldn't find anybody anymore.) It was creepy. With food and service this bad, this place can't possibly last on Main Street. Avoid!!! read more

For lunch, I got the sushi and eel roll combo and added a tuna avocado roll. I was hoping for a pick two or three roll lunch but they don't have that here. They have a few grouped lunches like my sushi and eel. Miso soup was average and plentiful. Eel roll had nori wrapper on outside instead of rice. Taste was average. I wanted cucumber in my eel roll but the server kept saying avocado, so I caved to avocado. My two sushi pieces were ok quality and freshness. Not spectacular. My tuna avocado roll was good to very good. Portion was great, flavor good, but too much rice. Service very good. Overall average lunch. I'd come back to try different rolls for dinner, but want more combo lunch choices. read more

I'll admit it - I'm a bit of a sushi snob. And I will say 90% of the time - this place delivers tasty and fresh sashimi/sushi consistently. I don't eat rolls or thai fried rice at a "Japanese" restaurant - yes this place is actually Taiwanese owned - but the sushi is excellent for the area. I ordered the volcano roll which comes with eel on top. As I was eating, one piece had a small bone in it which I didn't think much of. As I was nearing the end of my roll, my friend pointed out to me that the meat on top of the piece of sushi looked like a fish. At first I thought it was just a piece of eel that was shaped like a fish. But after further examining it, it turned out to be a small fish. An entire little fish. Just like one you buy at a let store. The head was cut off and it was cut in half. It still had a fin and tail. It was unmistakable. After comparing it to the other prices of eel, it looked entirely different, color and all. It was much more orange looking. I asked our server which type of meat was on top of this roll. She assured me it was eel. I then pointed out the small fish I found. She told me it was "eel fish". There is of course no such thing. I told her that I know what an eel looks like and this was definitely not eel. She took it to the chef and told me he said it was eel. They were baisialy playing stupid. So we paid and left. Be careful because you never know when they might he feeding you. read more
