    Iced Teh Tarik
    Jenny Y.

Went for lunch today and we're seated right away since there were only a few patrons. Water was brought out promptly. Since I was waiting for my friend to arrive, I ordered an Iced Teh, which was brought out pretty quickly. The drink itself was good with the right amount of sweetness and tea flavour. Once my friend came, we were given a few minutes to look over the menu options before having our order taken. They were also accommodating to switch my drink order to part of the meal set. I asked what their Daily Specials were and were told the names, but had no idea what they were, until the server brought over a phone to show pictures and explain a bit more about what they were. One was Roti Canai with Curry Chicken, but I had already eaten that a couple of days ago, so chose to just order off their regular menu. We ordered 3 items, so I think they assumed we were sharing them (even though that wasn't the case), so we were brought share bowls and every cutlery type (chopsticks, fork, spoon, and Asian soup spoons). The Breakfast Set came out first, so I shared some of the Kaya toast, although it wasn't enough to use up even half the eggs. Then the Nasi Lemak came, and the Noodles my friend ordered came out a little after, so we both began to eat then. The fried chicken was a little bit too salty for my preference and was also kind of dry. But the sambal was really tasty and not too spicy. As we were close to being done eating, it got a bit busier with others asking for their bill and new patrons being seated, so we had to wait quite some time before being able to ask for takeout containers (which they charge $0.25 per for) and then our bill. There is a small discount for paying cash, but I just paid by card. Definitely has potential to be more consistent with better service, but it was a decent lunch.

I love Malaysia cuisine and to finally have one near home just helps to kick off the long weekend! The Kaya Butter Toast was tasty, love the chuck of butter inside. But was expecting to be a little bigger. The seafood noodle, the Tom yum soup was nice. My favourite was the Nasi Lemak with Fried Chicken. The sambal sauce was so tasty and the anchovies went well with the rice! The service was nice and friendly even when they are busy today. The ambiance is same as when on/off the previous venue. I will come back for the Nasi Lemark and already thinking about bringing my friends and family to try!

Food 3.75/5 Service 4/5…read moreAmbience 3.75/5 I have been to this restaurant many times over the years and more recently we usually order a take-out. On Friday, we decided to dine-in. We were quickly seated and the service was really attentive and appreciated. At around 6-630pm the restaurant began to quickly fill with couples and families. We had the chicken and shrimp Pad Thai and the Nasi Lemak Ayam Goring. We really enjoyed the fried chicken, coconut rice of the Nasi Lemak Ayam Goring, and the amount of spice in the sambal onion and anchovies. The noodles in the Pad Thai had a firm texture which we liked, but for me the sauce was a bit sweet. If coming to the restaurant from 6pm on a weekend, the parking lot is very busy and you could be circling for a parking spot and having to move around vehicles that are double parked for take-out orders.

We were seated right away and menus provided at the same time. There was a Lunch Special menu but we decided to order full portions from the regular menu. We were able to order right away and our drinks and ice water were brought out. Our food was brought out fairly quickly, all of it being hot. Roti is a must order item! The noodles were also very tasty with the shrimp not being overcooked. Fried chicken was crispy on the outside and nice and juicy inside. Service was attentive with the servers checking on us every so often and clearing empty plates away. When we were done eating, the server packed up our leftovers for us instead of just giving us containers. You can pay by card or cash, but just be advised that they do not accept $100 bills. Parking was pretty easy to get a spot that wasn't too far from the entrance.

Looks like a table by the front entrance is reserved for owner admin purposes. Front area filled with good luck paraphilia to ward off evil spirits. My friend knew all the staff and proceeded right away to speak Malay. Let my friend do the ordering, I recognized a few of the dishes such as beef curry, chicken curry (both with roti), boneless chicken rice plate, chicken skewers, grilled sambal stingray, penang hokkien mee and a few other dishes (look at photos) I didn't recognise. There was one interesting dish Rojak, a mixed salad of chopped fruit & vegetables smothered in a pungent fermented shrimp sauce, sweet, tangy, spicy, a whole smorgasbord of flavors dancing on my tongue. Three words I've never used to describe Roti, theirs was crunchy, fluffy and moist, wonderfully dipped either in the beef or chicken curry. Chicken skewers were grilled well, meat remained moist with a nice grilled aftertaste, not necessary to dip into the accompanied curry sauce as the overall flavor stood on its own. The Sambal sting ray was a little disappointing, didn't match the memory of the one I had at the Singaporean hawker food court I had a few years ago. Overall flavor was lacking. Penang Hokkien Mee is the real deal, large plump shrimp w/ firm egg noodles in a somewhat spicy flavorful broth. We came on a Friday night, the restaurant was about 50% full, what a great cultural food experience which needs further support.

Decor isn't really anything to write home about, it's not why we came here. The roti canai was super delicious. Roti was flaky and buttery, the curry nicely spiced and waiting to be sopped up by the roti. The Indonesian fried rice was recommended by the staff and it didn't disappoint. Char Kwei Teow was nice, the wok hei was very apparent here as well as the Kang Kung Belacan (water spinach). The hainanese chicken while tasty was very bony (menu said it had bones). Desserts were a perfect way to end the meal

There was pickled carrot & daikon, which were good but puzzling. The chicken was decent, coming with green onion sauce on top (so it was Hainan style, not Malaysian). There was no dark soy sauce but the chili was about right. The soup tasted right but was very dilute. Bok choy on the side was decent. It came with soy sauce & oil. Ayam goreng rice had freshly fried chicken with the right turmeric-based flavour but it did not penetrate & was undersalted. The dish was also on the dry side, with no sauce. Curry puff had the right flavour but it was weak. The filling was quite pale - there was not enough rempah (spice mix). Shrimp spring roll was fresh & had springy shrimp but was slightly mushy & had a large carrot piece to bulk it up. The dipping sauce was dilute & weird The pho was $10 (without meat, but you get quite a lot for $1). The soup was alright. There was no lime or herbs, but it was cheap. Their Laksa is Malaysian style (curry mee). Entrees come with bottled water.

The curry had plenty of large tender chicken chunks and the spice level was perfect to go with rice . I don't see a lot of curry, puff availabilities, so this one was pretty good if you are missing those flavors. Would explore more of the options in the future.

Choice of little spice, medium spice and burn your tongue spicy. Luckily I chose medium spicy which was just about right. Ordered take out, got home, the hot noodles were starting to stick together, quickly separated using my chopsticks. The curry soup stock was placed in a separate round container, still very hot. The fish balls, tofu, chicken, bean sprouts were swimming in delicious hot spicy curry broth. When combined with the noodles I could have sworn I heard angels singing. Super delicious at a surprisingly reasonable price. Life is good.

We ordered Curry Laksa (not pictured), Char Kway Teow, Nasi Lemak with Sambal Ikan Bilis, Kui Dadar, and Kuih Seri Durian. The highlight for us was the Char Kway Teow. Great flavor and great wok hei. The desserts that they have on weekends were also quite tasty and not overly sweet. The Curry Laksa with the mixed noodles (we got half and half of the 2 types of noodles they offered) were also great as well. It was amazing for the price and I'm glad my Malaysian friend recommended this place to try out.
