Server is very sweet, greets you with a smile and kind but no name tag, don't know her name. Kitchen is open as well, nice touch. Menu is accessible via QR code, lots of options available. Food looks very delicious. Lots of drinks and food as well. Great options. Got the Bon Bon salmon rice, server was kind to let us know it's a bit spicy and went on to get it anyway. After refusing to wait 2 hours in line at another Markham brunch spot, we quickly came up with a plan b. Determined to have some brunch on mothers day, we found Cafe Bon Bon right around the corner. We were pleasantly surprised to hear upon calling that they would be able to seat us right away! We anticipated a chaotic parking situation being familiar with the usually busy Times Square plaza but was very easy to find parking this morning. Beautiful space with modern decor. Always happy to get a booth! We got the chicken and waffle - tender,juicy chicken that's perfectly crispy on the outside. These were served with soft warm waffles and a side of syrup. We got a nice flat white. The braised beef breakfast sandwich was so tasty and went great with the Bernaise sauce (like a deconstructed eggs Benny). Would have preferred the mixed greens on the outside of the sandwich as a side salad rather than in the sandwich. It was served with a decent portion of thick cut home fries, bonus they add yams in the mix! Our first time trying a soufflé pancake. Came with 3 on the plate (not pictured as we started eating before I could take a photo lol). The texture takes some getting used to as it's almost too soft (batter-like) but they were perfectly sweet accompanied by a nice thick chocolate sauce and SMALL pieces of fruit (the banana had a nice sweet crunchy sugary glaze). Wouldve given 5 stars but but the pancake couldve been served with larger pieces of fruit or atleast way more of it. It became more of a garnish than a topping as the fruit were so so soooooo tiny! I can't believe they've been opened so long and it's my first time here. I came on a weekend with a friend. It's definitely a very fancy restaurant with a nice vibe. It's perfect if you want some nice photos with friends as the decor is beautiful. Food wise there's a lot of options to choose from, I actually had a bit of a hard time deciding what to get. I literally wanted to try everything on their menu! I ordered a chicken linguine and my friend got a smoke salmon eggs benedict. We also ordered a crispy chicken karaage to share. This place has been around for a while and we came when they first open a number of years ago. Food style is Asian fusion. The online reservation is not really effective, you don't get a confirmation after you place your request and you only get the choice of 5 pm or 7 pm. I ended up calling to confirm and requested a 6:30 reservation. Menu is viewable by barcode only. The place hasn't really changed since they first opened but it looks like they sell baked goods as well now. Atmosphere is very casual dining. They do close at 8 which seems a bit early. What was ordered: Thai curry seafood linguine -not bad; you get 3-4 mid size shrimp with little scallops and crab meat; you could see chunks of crabmeat within the pasta Soft shell crab carbonara - 1 deep fried soft shell crab sitting on top of a bed of carbonara pasta; feedback was that other than the soft shell crab the dish was unremarkable and a bit dry. Our dining partners ordered the smoked salmon eggs Benny and there was also a croissant cha siu sandwich. Both come with a little side salad. Feedback was food was good. Service was decent and I think the highlight of the evening was that it was a very leisurely meal without the rush. We were given last call notification (for the kitchen) and were the last ones to leave at 8 pm. Came here on Saturday evening after 5pm looking for somewhere to co-work with a friend. We were very happy with the food/drink options, ambiance to work on our laptops (didnt see any plugs but that made us work more efficiently) and that they close relatively late (most other cafes close really early)! It was not busy during this time so we were able to be seated at a booth and work next to each other. We ordered 2 drinks (bonus points for no paper straws!) and a souffle pancake. No complaints other than it can be alittle bit on the pricier side, and the photos advertised bananas in the chocolate souffle but didn't have :( (I was looking forward to the banana pairing), and that there was a fruit fly that spent our few hours there attacking us . Located in the Times Square plaza, this place is a nice little spot for brunch or lunch. They have a cheaper brunch menu from 9:30-11:15am on weekends, weekdays, they dont open until 11:30am. Staff are very friendly and attentive. I found the prices for the items on the menu are higher than what they are worth but the quality makes up for it. We ordered the Rib sandwich and the char sui bao buns. Both sandwiches were very flavourful and the meat for both was tender enough to bite through without making a mess. I was also pleasantly surprised that the bao buns were larger than expected. Only thing that was missing were greens. Both sandwiches came with a side of house hash and mayo made in-house. Chicken linguine. Generous chicken. Yummy sauce. But the taste is not too unique (not wow enough compared to other 'new arrival' dish). 2 Steak& mushroom. 'Classic dish' menu. The steak was cooked perfectly. Eating it with mushroom sauce is great combination. I like this one better than the linguine.lol. 3. Chesnut tiramisu - definitely doesnt taste typical tiramisu. Not too sweet (good). But not enough wow factor. 4. Hibiscus berry tea - it's ok.i was expecting more like winter tea (since I just came back from Europe and excited to see similar tea name in this place.lol). But I love the sweet cookies served with the tea (and they were very sweet to give me extra when I told them I love the cookies.haha). 5.Seafood chowder (come with fluffly yummy bread to dip into the soup) . Im not a seafood person so my comment doesnt count. But my friend loves it!! Overall , always have delicious time here. This is my first time to visit here, I was attracted by their omelet rice!! It was good but I was amazed by their beef rice bowl!! Their beef was so soft and the juice was so match with rice!! Been here couple of times and it's one of my favorite cafes! I think they are a bit on the pricey side but definitely a fancier cafe than your usual one. They have a variety of item and even serve dinner. Their soufflé pancakes are really good and make the prefect dessert. I love their different coffee drinks my favorite was their coffee donut. Their also have a seasonal menu that changes so always something new to try. The staff is pretty kind and quick. I recommend making a reservation before going because they can get busy. read more

Overall rating: 4.1/5 Walking inside, you immediately see a modern, bright, semi-glam interior decor that doesn't feel cramped (unlike the parking lot outside). We were seated quickly as a small party without reservations. We tried the soft shell crab carbonara (sauce is not egg-based, but instead uses wasabi and miso) from their seasonal menu, and the mushroom deluxe with steak from their classic menu. Both dishes were scrumptious! The carbonara is umami in a carb loving bowl, and the mushroom deluxe is basically super fluffy scrambled eggs with creamy, savoury mushrooms - adding the steak just elevated the dish. That being said, I do think these dishes were slightly overpriced. The soft shell crab was very small, and I expected to find a few more crab pieces mixed into the pasta considering the crab's size. The steak add-on was an additional $10, and considering the size, I don't think it was worth it because the base price of the mushroom deluxe is close to $20 already. If these dishes were a couple of dollars lower, I would be fine with the price. Similar pros & cons for the drinks. It was neat to pour frothed milk over the espresso ice ball, but for $10, I don't know if I'd try it again. Not sure if it's because it was frozen, the roast of the beans, or how concentrated the espresso was, but I couldn't taste the espresso flavour or any of its notes. read more

Wasn't busy when we went in so we got a table very quickly. The space is large with nice booths, making it feel cozy and intimate. We just wanted a small bit for dinner so got two dishes to try: - Beef stroganoff omurice: Saucy and hearty, and the egg was beautiful and cooked just right. It was a bit of a bummer that the rice was just plain jasmine rice though; I expected fried rice at least to be more in-line with traditional omurice. 8/10 - Dan dan softshell crab linguine: This was one of the new items on the menu. Was surprised to get an entire soft shell crab, and it was delicious! The sauce was creamy and just the right consistency. Comes with some pickled radishes which was nice. CAFE BON BON . . A cute cafe for brunch or dinner. We went for dinner around 6:30pm on a Saturday and luckily got a spot right away. We opted for the Beef Stroganoff Omurice and Soufflé Pancakes. The rice was good but was it $26 good? Nah. I did like how they did the tornado egg though. Soufflé pancakes took about 20-30 minutes to make, but they came out nice and fluffy. It was delicious! I really liked it with the ice cream. I would probably just return for the desserts and coffee tbh. read more

I came here for my birthday dinner with a couple of my friends so we decided to get a few items to share. Some items not pictured as I was hungry and forgot!! One of the dish we got was the short rib donburi and it was really good and one of my favourite dish among the few we got. I liked the soft shell crab carbonara as well. Overall the food was very good! The reason I gave it a 3 star was the service wasn't the best. The first male server we got was very friendly and accommodating. However, before we can even finish our entrees, one lady server came and told us she's going to bring dessert, to which we said we weren't done with our dinner yet. However, the lady was like "I still need to make space for it". I don't understand why she can't just wait?? We were clearly still working on our food. I understand they close at 8:30 but at that point it was like only around 7. We just felt really rushed and kinda compromised the whole dinning experience. The interior of this place is very modern and aesthetically pleasing for photos. Service was very friendly, our server was nice enough to recommend a drink since I was indecisive. Went with the sea salt cream iced coffee which isn't as sweet as it sounds and great for coffee lovers. For food, I got the beef omurice and my friend got the curry shrimp pasta. The beef omurice was so yummy, beef was tender and sauce was good. It was also very filling I could not finish the whole thing. As much as I want to love Cafe Bon Bon, I do think that the food is only average for the price point. Flavour wise it is definitely more refined, however the price is a bit steep. I do feel that the quality has been quite consistent since a few years back when I was here. Love the venue, beautiful setting and very comfortable seating. Mushroom Scramble 3/5 - Scrambled/tornado egg is nice and soft, but firmer than I would like and not as silky smooth. - Mushrooms were well cooked but did get slightly overpowered by cream and garlic used. - Sourdough that came with it was ok, but only two pieces for the price of 17 is a bit steep! I only had this one dish, and not saying it wasn't good but just not necessarily worth the price point. Still will come try the other items and perhaps those will be more worth the price! The star dish is the fluffy Japanese pancakes! I could have eaten an additional stack of these fluffy yet chewy pancakes. This gem is tucked away inside the Asian mall called Times Square. All dishes are carefully prepared and with fresh ingredients. I loved the attentive nature of the staff and the modern interior of this cafe. There's no getting around it; this place is really well designed and pretty. The lighting and ambience is on point. In terms of the food I would say it's alright. The food undoubtedly looks really nice and the flavors are there. The pasta and omurice we got was really rich. I would say that however it's not seasoned enough so it's lacking salt. The onion soup is not French Onion so just a heads up! There were hits and misses and the food quality was average. - The soft shell crab with pineapple fried rice: it came with a whole small crab, without the lung of the crab being properly thrown away. However, the fried rice tasted really good, very crispy and flavourful. The seaweed was super chewy though. Pay attention to your teeth while eating it. I got takeout from here a while back near the beginning of the pandemic. This was when Cafe Bon Bon was only offering an extremely limited menu due to the lessened demand as caused by the pandemic. Still, my favorite menu items were left on there so I wasn't upset by it in the least bit :D Their takeout holds up pretty well in my books. I remember getting the following: -[BEEF STROGANOFF OMURICE] $21 Honestly, this is probably still my number one go-to dish here! It's always reliable because of how delicious the beef cheek sauce is, with their creme fraiche, mushrooms, and the Japanese omelet to top it all off! YUM. Honestly salivating just writing this out haha -[48 HOUR SHORT RIB DON] $22 This is also a pretty good dish consisting of 6oz of their short rib that has been cooked sous-vide style for 48 hours on a bed of rice. This dish is also pretty good with one slight criticism.... The don needs more of the short rib sauce to make it PERFECT! Otherwise, you just leave us wanting more sauce and less rice :C -[SOME SORT OF FRIED CHICKEN BURGER THAT IS NO LONGER ON THE MENU] Honestly, this was the least tasty dish I've had of theirs overall. I think it makes sense that it's no longer on the menu..... STILL!
