    Soft shell crab carbonara
    Amy Y.

This place has been around for a while and we came when they first open a number of years ago. Food style is Asian fusion. The online reservation is not really effective, you don't get a confirmation after you place your request and you only get the choice of 5 pm or 7 pm. I ended up calling to confirm and requested a 6:30 reservation. Menu is viewable by barcode only. The place hasn't really changed since they first opened but it looks like they sell baked goods as well now. Atmosphere is very casual dining. They do close at 8 which seems a bit early. What was ordered: Thai curry seafood linguine -not bad; you get 3-4 mid size shrimp with little scallops and crab meat; you could see chunks of crabmeat within the pasta Soft shell crab carbonara - 1 deep fried soft shell crab sitting on top of a bed of carbonara pasta; feedback was that other than the soft shell crab the dish was unremarkable and a bit dry. Our dining partners ordered the smoked salmon eggs Benny and there was also a croissant cha siu sandwich. Both come with a little side salad. Feedback was food was good. Service was decent and I think the highlight of the evening was that it was a very leisurely meal without the rush. We were given last call notification (for the kitchen) and were the last ones to leave at 8 pm. If you want food similar to similar style restaurants without the wait (think glass kitchen and chillax and co) this is a good option.

Came here on Saturday evening after 5pm looking for somewhere to co-work with a friend. We were very happy with the food/drink options, ambiance to work on our laptops (didnt see any plugs but that made us work more efficiently) and that they close relatively late (most other cafes close really early)! It was not busy during this time so we were able to be seated at a booth and work next to each other. We ordered 2 drinks (bonus points for no paper straws!) and a souffle pancake. No complaints other than it can be alittle bit on the pricier side, and the photos advertised bananas in the chocolate souffle but didn't have :( (I was looking forward to the banana pairing), and that there was a fruit fly that spent our few hours there attacking us . Would love to come back another time to try their brunch menu when they're not packed!

Located in the Times Square plaza, this place is a nice little spot for brunch or lunch. They have a cheaper brunch menu from 9:30-11:15am on weekends, weekdays, they dont open until 11:30am. Staff are very friendly and attentive. I found the prices for the items on the menu are higher than what they are worth but the quality makes up for it. We ordered the Rib sandwich and the char sui bao buns. Both sandwiches were very flavourful and the meat for both was tender enough to bite through without making a mess. I was also pleasantly surprised that the bao buns were larger than expected. Only thing that was missing were greens. Both sandwiches came with a side of house hash and mayo made in-house. Will come back to try out their brunch menu.

Come back here again (wish they have loyalty stamp card or something.lol).I rarely go back to same place (even though I love the food). Always order something different on every visit. Ordered: 1. Chicken linguine. Generous chicken. Yummy sauce. But the taste is not too unique (not wow enough compared to other 'new arrival' dish). 2 Steak& mushroom. 'Classic dish' menu. The steak was cooked perfectly. Eating it with mushroom sauce is great combination. I like this one better than the linguine.lol. 3. Chesnut tiramisu - definitely doesnt taste typical tiramisu. Not too sweet (good). But not enough wow factor. 4. Hibiscus berry tea - it's ok.i was expecting more like winter tea (since I just came back from Europe and excited to see similar tea name in this place.lol). But I love the sweet cookies served with the tea (and they were very sweet to give me extra when I told them I love the cookies.haha). 5.Seafood chowder (come with fluffly yummy bread to dip into the soup) . Im not a seafood person so my comment doesnt count. But my friend loves it!! Overall , always have delicious time here. My friend is picky (because he is a great cook himself) and surprisingly he said the food here always bangs on!! That means something! Cheers for great food, service, and ambience!

Very spacious and bright. Quite a bit of seating. The food was delicious. I ordered a mocha to start and the soft shell crab carbonara. It was amazing. We finished off with the Ovaltine and milk tea in a waffle cone. The service was great as the servers came around every 15-20mins to check on us. Will def dine here again!

Been here couple of times and it's one of my favorite cafes! I think they are a bit on the pricey side but definitely a fancier cafe than your usual one. They have a variety of item and even serve dinner. Their soufflé pancakes are really good and make the prefect dessert. I love their different coffee drinks my favorite was their coffee donut. Their also have a seasonal menu that changes so always something new to try. The staff is pretty kind and quick. I recommend making a reservation before going because they can get busy.

    Mushroom deluxe with steak

Overall rating: 4.1/5 Walking inside, you immediately see a modern, bright, semi-glam interior decor that doesn't feel cramped (unlike the parking lot outside). We were seated quickly as a small party without reservations. We tried the soft shell crab carbonara (sauce is not egg-based, but instead uses wasabi and miso) from their seasonal menu, and the mushroom deluxe with steak from their classic menu. Both dishes were scrumptious! The carbonara is umami in a carb loving bowl, and the mushroom deluxe is basically super fluffy scrambled eggs with creamy, savoury mushrooms - adding the steak just elevated the dish. That being said, I do think these dishes were slightly overpriced. The soft shell crab was very small, and I expected to find a few more crab pieces mixed into the pasta considering the crab's size. The steak add-on was an additional $10, and considering the size, I don't think it was worth it because the base price of the mushroom deluxe is close to $20 already. If these dishes were a couple of dollars lower, I would be fine with the price. Similar pros & cons for the drinks. It was neat to pour frothed milk over the espresso ice ball, but for $10, I don't know if I'd try it again. Not sure if it's because it was frozen, the roast of the beans, or how concentrated the espresso was, but I couldn't taste the espresso flavour or any of its notes.

Beef stroganoff omurice had plain rice inside, though the egg was quite fluffy. It was beef stew, not stroganoff (it was heavier than stroganoff).  Sea urchin pasta was pretty tasty with a creamy umami sauce. There were few toppings in the pasta though.

I've been to cafe bon bon a couple times. It's really spacious - the interior is very pretty and clean. I've ordered different things each time I went, but their soufflé pancakes is the best. It's a cute cafe to hangout and catch up with your friends over coffee and lunch.

Located inside Times Square Plaza in Richmond Hill. There is plenty of parking and underground if upper level is busy. There was a wait but was quick to be seated. The food quality was just ok at a very high price. Did not find the value of the visit. The short rib was tender but lacked the beefiness that is associated with it. The omurice was just a scrambled egg without the pouch we all look forward to slicing open. Fancy name but falls very short of execution

Wasn't busy when we went in so we got a table very quickly. The space is large with nice booths, making it feel cozy and intimate. We just wanted a small bit for dinner so got two dishes to try: - Beef stroganoff omurice: Saucy and hearty, and the egg was beautiful and cooked just right. It was a bit of a bummer that the rice was just plain jasmine rice though; I expected fried rice at least to be more in-line with traditional omurice. 8/10 - Dan dan softshell crab linguine: This was one of the new items on the menu. Was surprised to get an entire soft shell crab, and it was delicious! The sauce was creamy and just the right consistency. Comes with some pickled radishes which was nice. For the price, the dishes themselves were a bit smaller than expected, which is why I gave it 4 stars. But a great place nonetheless!

CAFE BON BON . . A cute cafe for brunch or dinner. We went for dinner around 6:30pm on a Saturday and luckily got a spot right away. We opted for the Beef Stroganoff Omurice and Soufflé Pancakes. The rice was good but was it $26 good? Nah. I did like how they did the tornado egg though. Soufflé pancakes took about 20-30 minutes to make, but they came out nice and fluffy. It was delicious! I really liked it with the ice cream. I would probably just return for the desserts and coffee tbh.

I bought a couple of buns as a customer since then and I'm hooked! Bun Appetit is located at Commerce Gate. It's located closer to Highway 7. It's around the corner from Kinton Ramen, which I have been to a handful of times during the pandemic to pick up good eats. I found a parking spot steps away from Bun Appetit on a Wednesday evening at around 6:15 pm and backed in to it. It's easier to find parking when it's a weekday, in the afternoon. Bun Appetit's breads are naturally fermented for 168 hours. I liked that all buns and breads are gut-friendly and low on the glycemic index. I'm always interested in lower sugar options. I have sampled these items: - Baguette - Whole wheat walnut vegan bun - Lychee bun - Raisin earl grey bun - Oreo chocolate delight bun - Matcha pistachio pretzel - Whole wheat German pretzel - Yeast loaf with Nutella They were all delicious. They were soft and airy. My favourites were the whole wheat walnut vegan bun and the Oreo chocolate delight bun (also known as the messy hands bun). The former had whole walnuts that were so crunchy and fresh. The bread was chewy and soft. The messy hands bun used dark chocolate. It was also fluffy and soft. It lived up to its name. I had messy fingers just eating a morsel! It has 9 g of sugar, which is practically nothing being fermented. I liked how unique the flavours were. I loved the smell of the lychee bun. I wish it had lychee pieces in it. Instead, it was wine-infused and that flavour overpowered everything. I loved the yeast loaf with Nutella as a dessert option. I nearly picked up a loaf after this event was over! As a parting snack, I got the truffle mushroom one. It was the last one. I love mushrooms. It was super delicious with truffle oil, enoki mushrooms, spinach, garlic, and melted cheeses on top. The bun was soft and perfect. It was such a gourmet bun. I have since returned to get more buns: - Strawberry beetroot - Chocolate arancia The strawberry beetroot bun was fluffy. I decided to cut it in half. To my surprise and joy, it had whole strawberries in it. Wow and yay! I love fruit, but I wasn't expecting so much of it in this bun. I loved it. It was naturally sweet from the strawberries. The beetroot wasn't noticeable in flavour. I feel it added colour to the triangular bun more than anything. The chocolate arancia was equally as unique slicing it in half. This bun had candied orange bits in it. It tasted so good with the chocolate morsels on top and the subtle chocolate flavour in the bun itself. It was delicious. I need to return for more. I have found the buns of my dreams, which sounds odd and funny. It's all true! I paid with a credit card. You can register your phone number to collect points towards goodies. I'll be back. (185)

That level of care really comes through in the cup; you can taste the depth and intentionality in every sip. I ordered the vanilla bean iced latte, and it was easily one of the best espresso bases I've had in a while. The shot itself was rich and layered: deep, chocolatey, and nutty striking a really nice balance between bitterness and acidity. It finished with a smooth, almost creamy note that made the whole drink incredibly enjoyable. The only downside is the size-to-price ratio. At around CAD $8.50 for what felt like a 10 oz drink, it's definitely on the pricier side for something that goes down this easily. Still, I'd absolutely come back when I'm in the mood for a more premium coffee experience. (Funny note - the barista and I had a small rant together about how people order "iced cappuccino" and macchiato expecting Starbucks milk sugary drink instead of the "proper" shot with dollop of foam. My cousin and I arrived shortly after opening on New Year's Eve. The cafe has a small interior with minimal seating, mostly bench seating along the wall with small round coffee tables. Even though there was only one barista working that morning, she was efficient at taking orders and making drinks despite several orders happening at once. We did not feel like we were waiting very long. I ordered a pour-over with the Finca El Paraiso Peach Colombian beans, which use a thermal shock washed process. That was something I had not heard of before. The tasting notes listed nectarine, tropical fruit, and caramel, and it was recommended since I was looking for something more out of the ordinary. I enjoyed the wilder flavor profile, but it was hard to fully appreciate because the coffee tasted overly diluted. The barista mentioned she used a 15g to 250g bean-to-water ratio, which is higher than how I normally enjoy my pour-overs. My cousin ordered a flat white with whole milk that was very creamy with strong espresso notes. We also ordered a matcha latte for my other cousin, which was apparently too creamy. Overall, the beans themselves were good, but the pour-over leaned watery for my personal preference. The bag of beans used for the pour-over was priced at $32, which is only a bit more than double the cost of the pour-over itself. In hindsight, I felt slightly ripped off and should have just bought the beans instead.

Despite having a reservation, we waited over 30 minutes for a table during the busy Saturday brunch rush, and parking around the plaza was difficult.
