Recently I got to a stage on the project car (aka Betty) that it was time to turn to brake drums and I could think of no place better, or more economical to tackle this task. The downside? You gotta already have access to the base; but hey, a lot of my fellow yelpers fit that requirement. Oh, and you better not be afraid to get dirty; this place is hands on; they'll help if you really need it, but you are the labor and talent working on your wheels. Tire mounting and balancing, brake drums and rotors and the like, the onsite tech will handle the machine work for you, but you gotta have those things off the vehicle yourself. A bay or two are set aside for oil changes and other quick work, stalls and lifts are available for the more time consuming work. They have a storage area, for a small fee, if you need more than one weekend to get the job done. You don't own more than basic hand tools you say? That's okay too, there are plenty of tools available for use. You just gotta follow the rules of the Tool Crib. Parts of Betty and I will be back soon!

This has been one of the perks I have enjoyed the most in my career. So sad to see it die.

I left my previous mechanic because of this constant attempting to overcharge me. I was so happy when I found Merv's. I thought they did good work and were honest. I was wrong. I brought my car to Merv's for service. I provided my own materials. My bill should have been around $30-$40. I was shocked when I looked at my bill. It was more than double what it should have been. I asked why it was so much. Merv, who was sitting in the front office began to squirm and told me it was because a wheel balance and tire rotation was performed. I immediately asked if it had actually been performed. I did not request that to be done. Rather than correct the invoice, Merv asked me if I wanted a credit. Really? You overcharge a customer and then ask if they want a credit. I was told that I had already received a discount because I provided my own materials. So, to recap, buying my own parts and not allowing a shop to overcharge me for materials is considered a discount. That's interesting....what Merv calls a discount is called fraud under Virginia state law. Buyer beware. The attempted gouge was far more expensive to Merv than he imagined. You have been warned.

He is kind, patient, highly skilled, and even more knowledgeable than the dealership itself. When looking for garages that will service BMW/mini, we initially had difficulty locating such a garage. Not many do service BMW engines. When I called I was created by a friendly voice, who clearly gave me their full attention, and made me feel welcome. They explained the process and that I could bring my vehicle in the same day, which works great for us. I felt very comfortable leaving my vehicle with the team given my impression in person, and was given a phone call not too long after I left explaining what was needed and the charges. I did not feel pressured or like I was being sold some unnecessary service as typically is the case at many crashes or dealers. I really appreciated this because not only did they tell me what they recommended but they also told me what could probably wait and not be replaced at this time. I thought that was huge. We got a call a few hours later stating that our vehicle was done and ready to go. We had also requested the Virginia state safety inspection and emissions inspection; It turns out that they don't actually do those inspections at the garage but they didn't take the vehicle down to a local gas station that does do the inspections. There was no up charge for the service! Overall friendly prompt service, not salesey or high pressure. Would definitely recommend for your BMW or Mini Cooper!

I drive 30+ miles to get my car serviced at this spot and there is a damn good reason for it…read more I've been introduced to this Precision Tune Auto Shop through an acquaintance of mine because I heard they are very honest mechanics. I have visited this shop twice to confirm my "car problems" that were reported on two separate occasions by Midas and Jiffy Lube, both of which gave me an estimated quote in excess of $1000. Both of these times, I came out of Precision Tune Auto Care with a $20ish charge for an oil change. Enough said. I'm really sick and tired of the scamming by car mechanics and to know that I'm at peace of mind when I go to this shop makes it well worth the trip to go out to Clinton to get my car serviced. As for customer service, recently, the owner's son, CJ, offered me food from the lunch he ordered for his employees (Pizza Hut) when I went in to get new brakes. Wow. What car center does THAT??!?!!! If I were to say anything negative.....it's that CJ may give "preferential" treatment to some customers. On my recent visit, a mother of a girl who came out on America's Next Top Model came to get her car serviced. Once CJ saw the model's pic in the mom's phone, he was in full gear: he chat her up like no other, opened the store door for her as she exited, opened her car door, and made 3 customers wait in line for 10 minutes while he chatted with her outside at her car. The daughter was smoking hot. YEP. Beauty goes a long way. YEP. Can't fault him for trying to score points with mum. YEP. Bah. Since he's a nice guy I'll be a bit understanding and let him get away with that one.

Had just got a new (used) car and wanted someone to check it out. To my dismay, I was told here I needed new breaks and rotors. CJ strongly encouraged I return to the dealership and demand they provide them. I really appreciated that. He said he could repair it, but that having just purchased the car this was not something he felt that I should pay his shop to do. Well, they refused so I paid out of pocket here and Yelped about the experience at the dealership. Long story short, they contacted me and offered to refund half. I quickly called CJ and asked what he thought about that. He advised me that I should demand a FULL REIMBURSEMENT from the dealership based on his observations of my vehicle. So that's what I did. And that's what I got :) Appreciated his honesty and the work done. Paul's assistance as well. Was like I got a mechanic and a lawyer rolled into one. Definitely sticking with this shop! ps. Seemed like CJ knew everyone entering the shop by name so definitely a ton of return customers here. A loyal clientele base is always a good sign.

Overall, very nice service staff, super reasonable prices, honest and helpful technicians, free coffee, and I like the outdoor chairs as well - you can watch the 210 commuters or keep an eye on your car while you wait! I have lived in Indian Head for 10 years but only recently pulled in here to get gas. I am so glad I did! As I was pumping gas, a woman came out to make sure I wasn't having any trouble. She said sometimes the directions on the pumps regarding the rewards cards can be a little confusing. I didn't need help, but I thought she was very cheery for it being so early in the morning, and it was so polite to offer to help. A few days prior to this, my rear view mirror had fallen off, and I noticed they were also a service station. I asked the lady if someone there could fix my mirror. She said she'd go check, and a man named Gino made an appointment for me to stop back by the next morning. The next morning, I arrived almost 30 minutes early, but Gino said it was no problem. Before I was even finished "checking-in", a man named Stewart was ready to start on my car. Within minutes, the mirror base was back up. I knew it would need to "set" for 24 hours. He told me that I could either put the mirror back up (just slide it onto the base) after 24 hours, or I could stop back by and they would do it for me. That's great customer service! I ended up sliding the mirror back on a few days later, and it has been up ever since. I stopped back by to get gas again, & they remembered me. I gave them an update on my mirror as well, and they seemed happy & thanked me for being a customer. I hate I can't remember the woman's name - I'll try to get it & update the review later (or if anyone from the shop reads this & can provide her name, that'd be great!) Now I plan to take my car there for my next oil change, etc. I highly recommend!
