Huge shout out to Santos & La Pine Auto Supply. I am not local to the area, but found myself needing to buy chains on a just-in-case basis. I was in a rental car, so wasn't thrilled about making such an investment. And I was kind of shocked at the cost for a 10lb box of metal, but then again, I'm not from the area and don't consider myself chains savvy. Anyway, I was an out-of-towner in a pinch, and Santos assured me I could make arrangements to return the chains if they were never used. I ended up sending them back, and he called me as promised, reversed the charges on my card. Did it all with the friendliest of attitudes. That kind of local treatment to a non-local says a lot, and I think that's a great sign for the shop in general. Would definitely come again. read more

I was camping at Wickiup Reservoir and had radiator trouble. My trouble began about 10 miles before I got there. My buddy who works in Eugene brought me a radiator and everything we could think of. Unbeknownst to me I didn't realize that Ford had a special tool to remove the transmission cooler lines. Now what? I'm a GM man and had the tools for GM with me. I called to see if they had the special tool there. Tyler said they did and I told him that I am stuck and had no way to come get it. I asked if someone could bring it. He pondered for a bit and said that he would after he ended his shift. What a blessing! Tyler went way above the call of duty. Don't expect professional and knowledgable help from this store's staff. Most Auto Parts stores have personnel that is typically very knowledgeable; especially, a NAPA store. I purchased a small ranch a few years ago and our mechanic had been purchasing our parts from this store for a few years; that is, until today and after the way I was treated. I generally use John Deere (low viscosity 10-30 oil) only; however, I was under time restraints and didn't have the time to drive to the John Deere store so I went to this store seeking the best substitute they had. The young lady that tried to assist the best she could; however, she was new and didn't know which oil to recommend so she went to ask the manager. He wasn't very knowledgeable and instead of trying to assist, his reply was "I don't know, doesn't your owners manual tell you", after his flippant remark he laughs at me along with the rest of his flunkies behind the counter that were just following the bosses lead. I actually felt bad for the young lady because she was obviously embarrassed by her bosses rude and flippant behavior and her expression said it all. I went up to the counter and asked that manager if he treated all his customers and Veteran's that way, his reply was, "I couldn't give a rat's ass about someone being a Veteran because we shouldn't have been there anyway". Wow, this guy is not only lacking mechanical knowledge but he is also ignorant. Let's be clear that I never told him where I was at or where I served...and to blame a Veteran for a politician's decision is a special kind of ignorant, apathetic, A-hole. I would also like to point out that I knew exactly what type oil I needed but I simply wanted their professional opinion on which name brand they would recommend. Granted my purchase would have been very small; however, after conferring with our mechanic I discovered that we had been spending in the high thousands at this store every year. Well, this store won't get one red cent from our ranch from this point forward. I have instructed our mechanic to just drive the extra 19 miles to another NAPA that treats their customers more professionally. We also stocked up on frequently used parts to avoid as much travel. When I went to put the word out with my neighbors, they were already aware of the rude A-hole working at this store and they boycotted them long ago, lmao. I am a Veteran's Advocate in my spare time and I will be putting the word out to every fellow Veteran in town about these Veteran haters. I will also add that every time I have been in this store it has been dead empty and a ghost town; Gee, I wonder why. I was so offended by this store that I called the district manager and he informed me that they get numerous complaints from this store. He was apologetic but was grateful that at least I would be using the Bend Store. He did give me a discount on some major purchases we had to make...so there's the silver lining,I guess. I was raised in a time where the customer was always right but don't expect that treatment from these ignorant hillbillies at this store. read more
