I needed a headlight replaced, but it was extremely cold (about 0 degrees or colder) in the middle of the afternoon. Well, I asked the young man checking me out if someone could replace a headlight in my car once I our purchased it. Initially he told me that it wasn't recommended when it was so cold. However, a young woman employee came over, and when he asked her she said she would do it. It took a few minutes and a short break to warm her hands, but this woman went above and beyond to help me out! It was suggested to me to try Auto Zone and I did. Upon arrival, I walked in and stated my problem and was immediately assisted by Don Dale. He came out and looked at the car, went back in the store for the proper metric tool to remove the bolt covering the housing to the brake lights and installed both sides within minutes, verified then working with me and wished me a NICE DAY! I had a certified GM dealership technician install it on my car and my check engine light came back one the next morning with egr low circuit like my original bad one so this was a new faulty part. Patrick sent a new more expensive one over to the dealership and said just pay the difference when you come back with the defective one. When I brought the defective back he did an even swap and and didn't charge me the difference, maybe for my wasted time but what ever it was cool. The new one works as it should and my car is fixed.

He noticed that one with more Cold Cranking Amps was listed at a lower price than the other. Calling the installer over, he found out that the cheaper battery was also larger, and didn't fit in all models. He went out to my car and confirmed that it would fit. As he started the installation, we joked about how it was 70 and sunny and we're concerned about CCA. (gotta love Wisconsin) There was an issue with the terminal being badly corroded, and Jose, the installer, didn't want to risk cracking it. I also did not want to risk getting stuck, so I said I would get help and possibly look at changing the terminal too. When my car wouldn't start on the existing battery, he came back out, and assisted with changing the terminal. (fortunately, it was a bolted connection, and did not require cutting the wires off. The staff here went way above and beyond for what turned out not to be a simple replacement. I understand the original hesitation to risk making a situation worse, and I deeply appreciate the willingness to try it anyway, when it became obvious that the car really needed to get that new battery and connection in. He also gave me a heads up on the shaking that might occur in the car when removing a power source, and the computer goes through a re-learning of the systems. It did happen for a while, and I didn't panic because of the understanding of what happens. I have a relative who is a mechanic, and is usually my first stop. Advanced is certainly my new stop for parts and for those occasions that I need outside assistance.

I was told that I should purchase their used wheel covers and that it was not necessary to purchase new ones for $80 more. They arrived and are perfect; they look new! I am very happy! Also, I emailed to see if there were any other shipping options other than paying $33.90. I mentioned that I was retired and the shipping cost was an issue for me. The owner, Rick Dynek, responded and told me he would split the shipping cost with me and gave me a credit for $16.95. I am so impressed with Hubcaps Unlimited in every way!

The service was poor, I had to take it somewhere else to have the codes tested and read. After having my car tested I needed an alternator so I called this store to order one they said they had one but when I picked it up they didn't have it so I had to wait around for them to order one. When it finally came inI brought the alternator but the worker never told me it wasn't a new one it was a rebuilt alternator which i never knew they sold. I had the mechanic put this part in and it was a piece of crap! So I had to take it out of my car and return it and found out it wasn't new so I had to buy a new one and put that one in my car. So yesterday afternoon, I started hearing a weird tire noise on my left front tire, but had no idea where to go (I'm newish to the area). Google search found me Discount Tires on Bluemound, close to me. No appt., I just walked in, and they got me right in. Explained my tires were nearing their 10 year lifespan (who knew? i didn't realize this was a thing), and the tread was starting to separate on my left front tire. Yikes. So I went ahead and sprung for 2 new front tires. I wasn't happy at all about this surprise expenditure, but it was better than a blowout at 60 mph on 94, thank you Jesus! Jumped back in the car, and before I was even out of the parking lot, that weird sound was STILL THERE! What the heck? ‍ Went back in, had them check again; it was actually my left REAR tire, which had a huge BOLT wedged into it (THANKS A LOT, Waukesha construction zones)! Why this wasn't seen earlier at DT, I don't know, but it is what it is. The hole was too large for a patch, so they gave me a 'gently used' closely matching tire. AT NO CHARGE. As a woman who knows little to nothing about vehicles, so is at the mercy of those who DO know about such things, I almost cried. THESE are the kind of places - and people - that we need more of because they are so desperately needed. People are tired of being scammed. The front of the DT shop was clean and tidy, the guys in the back of the shop were highly efficient (and even that part of the shop was very tidy as well). I never met Bruce Halle, DT's founder, but his amazing business model and values lives on in his employees! I know where I WILL be going when it's time to replace my 2 rear tires! I had an "interesting" experience buying new wheels from Discount Tire. Their website showed the…read morewheels as in stock, but after ordering I was told they weren't available, turning a simple purchase into a drawn-out process. Once at the store, there was also miscommunication about my order, and it felt like no one was on the same page. I'd still recommend Discount Tire for tires--they've always done a good job with installation and service (they were very efficient when it came to servicing my vehicle) But for specific wheels, I'd look elsewhere. In my experience, the online inventory was inaccurate, communication was disorganized among staff, and the initial process was more burdensome than necessary.
