We've become regulars at Attalus Coffee, mostly to explore their rotating pour-over offerings. Each visit has been consistently excellent. The team is welcoming, genuinely knowledgeable, and always happy to chat through the tasting notes or offer recommendations when I can't decide between beans. You can tell they care just as much about helping people enjoy coffee as they do about making it. For my husband, the benchmark is espresso. He's always searching for a shot that's balanced, sweet, and expressive. It's been a surprisingly difficult thing to find, but somehow, Attalus nails it every single time. His go-to is a double shot over ice, and it's one of the few places we've found that is able to deliver consistently! I wanted to like it so bad but I just couldn't do it. They were offering a seasonal matcha with wildflower syrup and pea flower cream but knew I wouldn't like the cream, so I just got the matcha with wildflower syrup. I honestly don't even know what I was thinking ordering that combination. I am not the type to get floral drinks and I didn't know that the wildflower syrup would be so strong. I think I wouldn't have minded if the matcha flavor was strong but it was pretty watered down and had a pale color :( Not sure if I'll come back because it's out of the way for me. Tables were so dirty with crumbs all over, so we ended up standing around while we wait for our drinks. Service: 4/5 Staff were friendly and efficient. Cute corner coffee shop! It looks tiny from the outside but there is actually a fair amount of seating inside, and since it's a corner spot they have 2 entrances and outdoor seating on both sides. I was excited to try their Spring Fling matcha drink that I saw on Instagram. I was a little disappointed to see it come out looking like a regular matcha, rather than the bright blue on their photo. Just make sure to mix it otherwise that first sip is pretty fragrant! After I started drinking it more, it had better balance of flavor but if I closed my eyes I probably wouldn't know it's matcha. I liked my husband's black sage honey latte better, which was a solid latte but I wouldn't be able to tell the sage or honey flavors if you didn't tell me. Overall they kinda tasted more on the watery side instead of a creamier latte. They have a standard pastry offering, but their brunch menu looked really good! We couldn't stay for long but it seemed very unique. Overall 3.5 but rounding up for nice service and nice clean ambiance. I had higher hopes for this spot but I think maybe we just had the wrong drinks. If we are passing through again I'll have to give it another shot! read more

We swung by here for breakfast. The location was very easy to find. There are two entrances. They also have some outdoor seating. When we arrived there was a bit of a line trickling out the door. We ordered a coffee, strawberry basil drink (summer seasonal menu), and a breakfast toastie. I like that they have a rotating seasonal menu of different drinks! Everything was made to order so it does take a bit of time. It's a very welcoming environment. The interior decor is sorta farmhouse with lots of pothos, minimalistic tables, lots of bright window lighting. You could tell they have a good group of regulars. I saw some people sitting at the bar area working on their laptops. One person asked the barista to watch their belongings while they took a phone call. Attalus is a bright, clean, and cute little cafe in downtown Vacaville. Even though hey were very busy on a recent Saturday morning, it was easy enough to find seating inside for 3. There are also a few tables outside. We tried the banana bread (too dry), the pumpkin bread (perfection), and a morning bun (just OK) with our specialty and seasonal lattes. I got a hot black sage honey latte. an iced honey miso cappuccino with toasted sesame for my husband, and an iced PSL for my friend. We ordered our drinks for here, but they were still served in to go cups. I always feel like that takes away from the cafe vibes, especially if they do nice latte artwork. We did have to wait awhile for our drinks. I finished my pumpkin bread before I got my drink. I enjoyed my black sage honey latte, just wish it were served a little bit hotter. It was smooth and creamy but not much sage or honey flavor. My hubby enjoyed his honey miso cap, after adding sweetner to it. My friend loved his PSL. The staff were nice and gave recommendations. I have been wanting to try the coffee here for a while and today while my wife ice and I were near downtown Vacaville, we decided to stop in for some coffee. Attalus Coffee is located in the corner of the funky 5 way intersection as you enter downtown from Merchant St. There is street parking and a couple parking lots nearby, so parking is not an issue. It's a cozy coffee shop with a handful of indoor tables to sit at and a table with a couple chairs out side for you to enjoy your coffee at. The employees working were very nice and helpful. The gentleman who took our order was very patient while we decided what to order. He was knowledgeable about their offerings and describe/answered our questions about the coffees. I decided to order Black Sage Honey Latte (cold) and my wife ordered the Wildflower Latte (hot). They can make you coffee order both hot or cold. The Black Sage Honey Latte had a hint of honey, but I did not really taste the black sage and there was a fragrant smell/taste of the orange zest that was on top of the coffee. The Wildflower Latte had a very fragrant smell of wildflowers, but when you drink it, the strong fragrance did not translate to the drink, just a hint of fragrance. Both of the coffees tasted good, not overpowered by the flavorings and the coffee itself was not motor oil strong. If you like very dark tasting coffee, what we ordered is not for you. Overall, we enjoyed our drinks and would comeback again, particularly to try their seasonal offerings. read more

Such an adorable little coffee shop right in the heart of lovely downtown Vacaville! I was in town to meet up with a co-worker who always knows the best spots for coffee, and Attalus did not disappoint. While the shop is pretty small (about 8 small tables, although they do have outdoor seating), we were able to snag a spot to enjoy our Sage Honey Latte, Miso Capaccino, breakfast toastie and pastries. While the coffee size is small, you won't be disappointed by the taste! The sage honey latte wasn't overly sweet but also wasn't overwhelmed by strong espresso flavor. The orange zest on top really added an acidic contrast that highlighted the fruitiness of the coffee flavor. The breakfast toastie hit - salty ham, spicy aioli with umami truffle, acidic greens and satisfying crunch- highly recommend. There were only two gals working the front so we did have to wait a good ten minutes or so before receiving our order. That said, it was worth the wait. I work from home most weekdays, so coming to Attalus has kind of become my mid-morning ritual when I need a break from pretending to look busy on Slack. Seemed like she missed her name being called, then took it personally. One of the staff apologized--because they're professionals--but honestly, she acted like someone had served her coffee with a personal insult on the side. Stopped by Attalus Coffee after getting lunch with friends before heading back home. It looked like the best option in the area! At new cafes, I typically go for a vanilla latte, but they had their seasonal drinks out that looked interesting. My boyfriend and I both ordered off the seasonal drinks list. I got the gingercap and my boyfriend got the masala chai latte. I did notice they don't ask if you want your drink hot or cold. This was something our friend wished they did because he actually wanted his drink cold. I do know typically it's implied if you don't say anything it's hot, but it's nice to be reminded sometimes just in case if you forget. I noticed the gingercap was smaller than the masala chai latte. I'm not sure why unless it's due the .50 cent difference. My gingercap tasted a bit burnt and not my favorite drink. I was a bit disappointed and finished it up quickly just because it was cold and get my caffeine kick. The chai latte was a better. You definitely can taste a lot of spice. read more

We found this cute little spot driving by so we decided to stop by. It's a cute little shop inside. It was a little small in the inside and quite a few people so I didn't take a picture of the inside (maybe next time). We were greeted by the staff who kept it short and simple but seemed friendly. We ordered a vanilla latte w/ an add shot and a vanilla bean latte. The regular latte was good, I was overly impressed but it was decent. As far as the latte with an add shot, it wasn't very good. It tasted very acidic. Maybe the coffee they use it just a more acidic coffee? It just wasn't really good. I'd give a 5/5 for presentation and staff but a 2/5 for taste. I would consider giving it another try maybe in a few months and maybe next time it'll taste better. I need to say that Attalus coffee has ruined me in the best way. I am ruined by tasting quality coffee from Attalus because now everything else I try tastes awful. I have been truly wrecked by tasting and seeing quality from here that I will never be the same. Now, when I go to other coffee shops, after one sip, I remember that I'm not drinking Attalus... I don't know how to tell you this but Attalus will have you lovesick after one sip. Nothing else will taste good because after trying the best, you will realize that other places don't put as much effort and excellence into their coffee. Once you taste excellence, you truly won't want to settle for anything else. Sounds silly that I'm writing this about a coffee shop, but it's from the heart and a true lived experience. I used to travel far and wide, to the Bay Area or Sacramento, to get the best coffee, but now, the best coffee is right here. This place did not disappoint me, the owners are super friendly and it's evident they really put a lot of care into what they do. The ambiance of the store is quite relaxing and despite the building being a bit small, the atmosphere still remains quaint and cozy. Matcha - 10/10, matcha is my preferred choice of caffeine and this matcha was a ceremonial type. This type is of a higher grade and quality and a lot better than the matcha lattes you can get within the area. I added a shot of espresso in mine as well as an adjustment of half sweet. Next time I go I plan to have it as is but the flavor was just perfect, I highly recommend if you love matcha. Masala Chai Latte - 8/10, this was very unique. I enjoyed the spiciness of the masala. This wasn't your typical chai, the flavor was a bit punchy. The only thing that really felt different was it wasn't as creamy as I thought it would be, I don't know if the fact that it was iced made it less creamy. Would definitely get it again though but hot ^_^ Banana Bread - 9/10, it's quite difficult to not make a good banana bread. What I liked about this is that the banana bread was quite thick and moist. Also the top was a bit crusted and it was a real nice touch. Did I mention all their items are made from scratch? Even the syrups for their drinks! Would definitely get this again as well as the other assortments of goods they have. All in all this place was a great addition to downtown Vacaville. We were told about Attalus through a friend so we came to have it on a Tuesday morning. It's in downtown Vacaville on the weird intersection of Parker St and Merchant St. Plenty of street parking...when you can find it. It is a bit small but just the right size to come and grabe some caffeine before the rest of your day. The hospitality was great, I had the MATCHA with a shot of EXPRESSO and a bit of maple syrup, Homie that cup was on point. The SAGE MATCHA was Chingon!! Smooth taste, The expresso was a perfect addition to it and they add maple syrup to it(have it reduced,I'm not one crazy for sugar) The MOCHA was the next drink super smooth paired it with a splash of Oatmilk, clean taste perfect amount of Azucar must try.Beautiful taste read more
