My son and daughter and I had a disturbing ride to Michigan Avenue downtown with a driver who dozed off multiple times on the freeway. The minivan had a LYFT sign on the windshield so I assume the driver works long hours for at least two transport services. I called Naperville Taxi and spoke to a man who presented himself as someone of authority at the company - he couldn't have been less interested. In years past I used Naperville Taxi frequently but service has drastically deteriorated. Companies such as this one charge rates at a high premium to Uber and Lyft and in return you expect a reasonable level of safety. I would defo recommend Naperville Taxi for a stress free ride to the airport from Naperville. The fam and I needed to leave the house at 6:00am and the cab arrived 12 minutes early. Perfect timing so we didn't have to hustle to get our luggage out and everything. The driver was neutral, we kept quiet and so did he. He knew exactly where we needed to be dropped off and helped us with our luggage. It's nothing over the top, but the taxi vans don't smell and they get you where you need to be, on time. read more

Speaking with dispatch was easy, the driver nice and on time, the car was clean, and it was only $66 (cheaper than the $110+ that the downtown chicago taxi charged me for the exact opposite trip) This was a solid cab ride done right, and from my 1 experience I have no qualms recommending them to anyone else. read more

Ordered a taxi on-line a week in advance. Called the day before to confirm the reservation. The next morning at the reservation time, no taxi. Called Naperville Taxi and they said that they would contact the driver. 5 minutes later and no call back. Called Naperville Taxi and they said that they had been unable to contact the driver. I ended up driving to the airport, parking the car, and barely making the flight. Dreadful company, just dreadful. They are simply not dependable. The worst cab ride ever. Got picked up around 5am and had to put my suitcase in the trunk myself. Not a big deal but it's not typical, you know? Got into the cab which REEKED of cigarettes. The driver then proceeded to bitch for the next hour about past customers and mailboxes and home addresses. I initially tried to participate in the conversation but was interrupted so I just sat there looking out the window while the driver proceeded to go on and on and on and on. I seriously wonder if crack was involved... When I saw that we were on 294 N I said, umm..you do know that I'm going to Midway, right? Ohhhhh.... Of course not the driver's fault... So by the time I got to Midway I was nauseous from the cigarette smoke and totally stressed out. I immediately called and was told that a refund would be taken care of and that the instructions clearly stated Midway Airport. Here we are a month later and no refund, so I called back. I used Naperville Taxi about 5 times and my last time I made a reservation, no one showed up to pick me up. I called a couple times and waited 10 minutes. Luckily I had my car and was able to drive to the airport. I later wrote them to notify them they had missed my reservation and got no response. I would not recommend them to anyone and plan to switch to a different taxi company in the suburbs. read more

Driver was on time I will give them that. Seemed pissed that I was not going to an airport to get a bigger fare. $18.00 ride from 83rd st to the 59 train station which seemed very very high. Driver explained it was at the lowest rate offer... Tried selling me on a ride downtown for$65.00 about 10 times which is double what it would cost for a trip to Ohare. Do not use this cab service! They are terrible! I made a reservation for a pick-up at O'Hare & requested a town car. They first tell the driver to go to Terminal 2 to pick me up even though I'm at Terminal 1. I'm waiting for 20 minutes & when I call the business, there's no answer. Then when he finally understands me, he comes to pick me up in the most run down cab ever! Clearly no town car. When I call the business again (which sounds like a house because I hear screaming kids in the background) the woman said she though United was in Terminal 2. I said maybe you should look that up before you dispatch a car there. I also said this was no town car. She made some other stupid excuse about being too busy that night. Some good, some bad... The good: we got to the airport and back safely, and they were on time picking us up. Both drivers were very nice (the second was from 303 Taxi, but we reserved through Naperville Taxi). The price is also very competitive. The bad: the other reviewers who mentioned the condition of the vehicles were correct. They've seen better days, but I could look past that given the low price. But our first driver (taking us to the airport) didn't believe in using a GPS, and he wasn't familiar with the area and so took quite a longer route to get to the highway. I pointed this out to him, and he said he thought they were the same time-wise. I told him the route he took was at least 10 minutes longer. Fortunately we still made it with enough time to not have to rush. Our second driver (303 Taxi) was nice, and he used a GPS, but he was a terrible driver. He "used all the lane" (i.e. lots of swerving back and forth), and whenever we approached a green light he would slow down. And the route he took was likely the shortest distance, but not the shortest time, and so there were quite a few extra lights at which he kept slowing down. He also would randomly slow down inbetween lights. It was quite late and we just wanted to get home. We eventually did, but it was a rough ride. I recommend trying a different taxi company. read more

The dispatcher who took my call was very curt and didn't get my address correct. When I tried to correct him, he interrupted and said, "I got it. I got it.". That would have been fine if he really got it. But no, 10 minutes to my pickup time, the driver called because he couldnt find my house as the street address was wrong. On the bright side, the driver was very friendly. Unfortunately I'm an antisocial taxi rider and I didn't appreciate it too much. Please, no singing with the radio? Whatever. 11/17/2015- I flew into O'Hare and called for a pick up and ride to Downers Grove. The driver arrived after being there to drop off a fare at O'Hare, but had no signage on vehicle. He complained he got a $100 ticket for picking me up. When I asked him to show me the ticket he couldn't find it. He was quoting me $68 plus tolls and tip for the trip. When I looked at the website the flat rate was $38. The dispatch stated $42 for a rate. He stated his credit card machine was broken, but when I only had $49 in cash his cc machine miraculously worked. Then he complained when I paid $55 on a $42 fare. I have used American Taxi for more than 10 yrs and fairly frequently over the last 6 months. They have become worse and worse as the years have progressed. My experiences include being yelled at numerous times, can't find me, showing up very late making me miss my train, from Midway AP taking route 83 off of 55 to get to Naperville instead of 355 (insane!), telling me that just because I called to be picked up doesnt mean they will show up, having a driver that was to take my daughter back to the city saying that he's never driven to the city and became lost after he insisted that she take his GPS and she was to direct him (she refused), taking my sister to the airport and driving so eradically that she became sick. I also recently had a driver pick me up without turning on the meter. When I asked him about it he told me that he didn't need it because I got the price via text. I knew exactly what he was doing but I knew what that regular route of mine goes for and is always a few dollars less than the texted estimate. When I paid him the normal price, he told me that the amount was the higher of the estimate range. I told him to be on his way and he was lucky I didn't report him. My experiences were 50/50 bad/ok a few years ago to now 80/20 bad/ok. They will appease you on the phone and acknowledge that their drivers are often very rude but clearly, the company doesn't have control. Rude, unscrupulous taxi drivers! read more

I made an online reservation for a pick up at O'Hare. I did receive a confirmation email right away, and a quick response to a question I had about an airline delay. I was assured they tracked flights for their arrival time so I felt at ease. I received a text after arrival by the taxi driver Patrick saying to call when I arrived. I texted and called 3 times with no answer. I called dispatch, who answered immediately, and told her the situation. She assured she would call Patrick and have him call me right away. After no call for 15 minutes, I called the dispatcher multiple times with no answer! I called Patrick again and he finally answered, but said he was placed on another call and was hours away. What awful service!! After a long flight with delays, this was not what I wanted to run into. I called American Taxi, and waited 5 minutes for a pickup with comparable prices. First of all, stay AWAY from this taxi company. They have the worst dispatch and more... I scheduled a round trip to and from airport, received the confirmation email. So far so good. On the day to pick us up at home, the driver arrived 20 minutes early. I would appreciate 5 minutes ahead, but not 20 minutes. Anyway, that's okay, it won't delay my trip. The worst part was on the return part. When we arrived at ohare airport at 5:30am, no taxi showed up. After calling their dispatch, first, I was impatiently told I should have received a text, which I didn't get. Then I was told the taxi driver would call me. After a few minutes waiting at airport exit and not receiving any call, I called back. The dispatch started got impatiently and insisted that the driver called. After his search, he found he messed up my reservation with other's. My reservation still in their system, but no driver was dispatched. He said he could send me another taxi from Naperville. That meant we would have to wait another hour at airport before they could pick us up. I refused it, and he started YELLING at me, and after that hang up the phone. We ended up calling another taxi company. Their taxi arrived in 5 minutes outside the arrival gate. I was shocked as I never had such experience before. I've used Naperville Taxi for the past few years to travel back and forth from the airport. Until today, I've only had minor complaints with the company. Usually prompt and ease of online booking kept me coming back. I needed a ride once again to ORD, and scheduled my taxi a week in advance. Today, 5 minutes after my scheduled pick up time, I gave dispatch a call to confirm that the car would in fact be arriving. I was told they were on their way and the driver would call me if they were running late, I pointed out that they were already late. About ten minutes later, the driver calls me telling me he would be there in 10 mins. I ask why so late when I booked it for 10am? I was informed that dispatch had just given him the fare. This is unacceptable. I could have gotten an uber quicker than this. After this ride, I will be using other services. read more

This company is deplorable. First, our driver, Rich, was almost 40 minutes late picking us up at Midway. Once there, he had NO AIR CONDITIONING in his car and the interior roof of the car was disgusting and falling inwards. In all seriousness, the material had holes and in places held up by a thumbtack (see photos). So Rich has to keep his windows down while flying down 355 and a small rock comes through the window and hits me in the throat. No apology from Rich whatsoever after my husband mentioned this to him. We called the cab company at 5:30pm and they said it would take 15 min. We called again at 6:00 to see where they were, and again at 6:15, finally at 6:20 they sent a new driver. I don't know what happened with the other driver, but every time we called they kept saying "2-3 more minutes" when really he was 35 minutes past the estimated arrival time. read more

Driver was on time for O'Hare pickup and ride was ok. What I noticed this time and one other time I've taken Naperville Taxi is they overcharge. The advertised rate for Naperville is $40 and I am not south of 75th street. One time charged $4 extra and one time $6 extra after giving 20% tip. Like I say I'll add an $8 tip and then the rate charged is $52 instead of $48. Since these rides from O'Hare are already quite pricey this is annoying. I used Naperville Taxi to go to Midway airport. The driver did not get out of the car to help me with my luggage. In general he was actually very friendly, but in order to pull up some music and pictures (?!) he wanted to show me, he was constantly using the web on his phone. While driving. Well, today was my last straw with these guys. I've been using them for several years for airport trips at least monthly, sometimes more frequent. Never the best service, but most always on time (actually early) with clean cabs and friendly drivers. Today was a different story. Had a confirmed reservation for a return from Midway. Flight was on time, but no call from the driver when the plane arrived. Called dispatch who recognized me right away - said he would radio the driver to call me. By then, I was almost out of the airport at the waiting area. As said, they had my reservation, but when the driver called, he said he'd be at Midway in 20-25 minutes! OMG! Alright - it was rush hour - give him the benefit of the doubt. 40 minutes later, no cab. Called dispatch - NO ANSWER!!! Tried the driver directly - to voicemail after two rings. Enough was enough - called a different company who had a cab to me in 5 minutes! Right then, Naperville driver texts that he's "just about there" - mind you, we're now 50+ minutes past my flight's arrival! I texted back "cancel." Called dispatch again while in this other cab. Dispatcher said that it was still within the time he allotted the driver to pick me up (uh, since when do you wait 20-25 minutes for a cab at the airport). Told him the driver called at 5:04P (per my cellphone log) and told me 20-25 minutes. Dispatcher first said the driver didn't give me that time frame (how could the dispatcher know this?) and that there's no way he could have called at 5:04 since he didn't give the driver the information until after that! WTF! Decided to not even try to argue. Simply told him that after several years, they had now lost a long-time customer. The dispatchers reply? "OK." That's it - just OK. Never again! read more

I went on their website and didn't see the city I'm coming from which is why I called. I went ahead and made the reservation the next day. THE WEEK OF my reservation, I received an email saying that the price would actually he from $70-$75. Really? A $20 difference? I arranged with him and taxi co my return service a day ahead. Upon arrival at airport, driver said he took another fare and could not pick us up at the stated time. Called dispatch and they couldn't have a taxi out for another 1/2 hour and had on their records that I had luggage to get, which was a complete lie! I have an autistic child I needed to get home. I don't live in the area anymore, but had the chance to use Naperville Taxi a couple of times when I was in town for a few weeks recently. While they're not cheap, I would have to say that I was relatively pleased with the on-time, professional and congenial drivers and service they provide. One driver in particular -- Tom W. -- was very helpful and demonstrated the utmost level of attentive service you just don't really get anywhere these days. Like I said, I didn't think they were particularly cheap in terms of the cost of a ride to the airport (they do flat rate) but their personalities and reliability were somethings that help overlook it. read more

The driver called me 8 minutes before the time to say he was going to be 10-15 minutes late then when I started to tell him i wouldn't need the ride, he hung up on me. Thank goodness for Uber. I was nervous about this service after reading their reviews, but I had a very pleasant experience. Kastas was my driver and apart from the car smelling a bit like smoke, it was an excellent ride. He was very professional and we had an excellent conversation. He picked me up about 20 before my original request, which may irritate others but it worked out for my 5am flight! will say their price was about $4 more expensive than posted on their site ($44 instead of $40). will definitely use this service for my early morning air travel. read more

TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE, AND MORE TERRIBLE. I've never written a review but my experience was so bad I couldn't not. The driver was EXTREMELY late for picking me up and blamed traffic on 294, which anyone who lives in Chicago knows to expect traffic on 294. The driver was no older than 18 and drove the most run down car I've ever seen. No signs were displayed (I wouldn't have got in if I didn't know the cab number). He played extremely loud obnoxious music the entire drive. And he didn't even assist me with getting my bag in the trunk when picking me up. I will NEVER take this company again.
