Had a wonderful experience at Naples 15 tonight. Both food and service were absolutely incredible. We walked in on a busy Saturday night and were able to grab a few bar seats, which ended up being the most fun experience. We had some fun conversations with the bartender, had probably the best pasta in Madison, and even got to meet the owner/ head chef, who was so kind. I can't believe it took me so long to get here, but I will be spending a lot more time here in my future! read more

This is was unbelievable. It was so noisy we could hardly hear our waitress. For some reason the owner came to our table & tried to sell our host $590 bottle of wine. He passed. Then he brought out another bottle of wine we knew that was a good wine for much less and was told only one bottle He pours 3 of our group a good pour, which emptied the bottle then order's another bottle without our consent. He not only pours our other 3, but pours himself a glass. They brought out 2 different salads, calamari & a pasta dish. We said no more. The bill was $1700!. Not worth it at all!!! read more

Naples 15 totally blew me away. I had the steak and lobster ravioli, and honestly, it was the best I've ever had. The flavors were rich and perfectly balanced -- you could really taste the quality. A group of 8 of us dined at Naples 15 prior to a concert. From the moment we made our reservation we experienced friendly, helpful staff. Our server was attentive but not overbearing. At one point the owner came out to greet each table, provided us with bottle of champagne on the house, and took photos with us. They accommodated separate checks, which I appreciated. For dinner I had the Loch Duart Salmon Alla Puttanesca. It was good, although I wasn't necessarily wowed by the dish given the price point (approx. $43). My husband had the scallop dish, and shared similar sentiments about his meal. The others I dined with also enjoyed their meals, but we all found prices to be high. It's worth noting that the prices noted in their online menu have been raised, although I certainly don't blame a restaurant for raising prices given the increased cost of food. read more

I appreciate that Naples 15 is open on Monday nights, but my latest visit on a Monday did not match the excellence of my past visits. Of the three different dishes our table ordered none were anything to return for. Needless to say, the dishes were disappointing. The Naples salad (spinach, strawberry, orange) was slim on fruit and heavy on pepper. The Margherita pizza was bland. We would have loved to see more basil and perhaps seasoning in the tomatoes. The linguine with lemon & seafood seemed more like spaghetti to me. The seafood was good but I couldn't get past the spaghetti(?). Is it because it was Monday? Is it because the executive chef was in Italy? Not sure why my experience didn't stack up this time.... read more

It was an absolutely unforgettable experience from the start. The greeting at the door to desert. Every dish and every glass paired perfect. Favorites were the chef's suggestion of the chilean sea bass and the bistecca ala Florentina. Lobster ravioli was right up there for the best as well. Rigitoni ala Salvatore with truffles and caciocavallo podolico was absolutely up there as well! We paired this dinner we two wonderful from the superb wine list with so many great wines! Desert was baba and cannolli and chef gave us a complimentary cafe napoletana to top a perfect experience. I totally understand why this is the place the come to celebrate. Stranded in a back corner and completely ignored, this was not an enjoyable dinner. Decent martini and ok the pizza is superb. Waiter pushed us on entrees which were enormous. We prefer a shared plate or smaller course dinner so this just wasn't for us. My $75 sea bass came out 10 minutes after the other food because it was prepared incorrectly with shellfish which I don't eat and had explained when we sat down. And the wine list. Give me a break! While visiting Madison with family, I had a craving for the Margherita pizza at Naples 15. I thought they closed at 11 PM, but when we arrived around 10 PM, they were already shutting down. Being in the restaurant industry myself, I understand the importance of respecting closing time and offered to return the next day. However, Chef Di Scala, embodying true hospitality, wouldn't hear of it. He personally prepared our meal, and not only was the food exceptional, but the service was equally outstanding. Came in spontaneously after having a disappointing meal elsewhere. Naples 15 was hopping on a Wednesday night with a special event and all the tables were full. We snagged a spot at the bar and had the best pizza, "Sausage & Master Greens" which I always ask for with a sprinkle of truffle oil and the "Rigatoni alla Salvatore". Both were delicious as always. This place is very popular so a reservation is a must. I called the week before and for some reason was passed off to the owner/chef to make the reservation. It was a bit confusing. Interestingly when we showed up for our reservation they did not have our name. I explained to the hostess who I talked to the week before and after some eye rolling by the staff they quickly got us a table. The tables are pretty tightly packed in - after all of the social distancing for the last 18 months it was a bit of an adjustment. We started off with a glass of a nice Italian Pinot Noir which was reasonably priced. Their small wine list has some very expensive bottles on it... After a slow start the service was excellent throughout the rest of the evening. Helpful, delightful and very professional. The menu is extensive so it was hard to choose what to eat. We started with the Scamorza al Prosciutto - it was fantastic. We thought of it as an Italian version of fondue with prosciutto - this could have been a meal in itself. My wife ordered the Rigatoni All Salvatore which was very good. The sausage was not your typical "Italian" sausage and was quite tasty. I needed to try one of their Neapolitan wood fired pizzas. I ordered the hot salame pizza and it was great. That salame was indeed very spicy - I loved it. Though a bit pricey we will definitely return! read more

I have been dining here for years and haven't been in a year or so. I know inflation is an issue but the prices are insane. We wanted to order a bottle of wine and I couldn't find one less than $90, so when the waiter suggested the wine of the day I figured it was a house wine. I was shocked to see it was $155! The food was mediocre at best. This is not the cozy Madison restaurant it used to be and these prices are higher than NYC. I am not sure what happened but will not be returning. read more

i heard a lot of hype about this place and i have to say that while the food was excellent, the ambiance of the restaurant was a bit of a letdown. it does seem to give you the "full italian restaurant experience" if that's what you're interested in - something not as upscale. you can only make a reservation by phone which is kinda annoying. we were seated in a tall table in the corner, and there was a massive party in front of us who was obscenely loud and i could easily hear every word of their conversations. felt like we were seated too close to other parties. and honestly, the restaurant feels like you're in somebody's basement which I don't love, especially when there are entrees on the menu that are $75. i suspect that prices are so high because they import the seafood quickly in order to keep it fresh - because where else can you get seafood while in the midwest??? the menu was extremely overwhelming and busy with stories about the restaurant and its history - i didn't love that either. our server was nice and did a great job, but i would've appreciated more constant check in and refill of waters. for food, we got the frutti di mare which is a combination of diff seafoods - very good and fresh and it does feel like you're sitting next to the ocean. the bread (which came out later than I would've liked) was great to dip in the sauce. the lobster ravioli was my favorite dish, but the inside lobster kinda reminds me of cheese or like a baklava lmao. very very tasty though. pizza was also good but nothing that impressed me all that much. overall, it was an expensive meal that didn't totally feel worth it in price but the food was very good read more

Have only been here for Valentine's Day (a prix fixe menu) but would come again. Portions are large and food overall is reasonably priced. I would not recommend this as the most authentic Italian in Madison but it's good! They do often get very busy and the atmosphere inside can feel really packed. Staff is very nice. Overpriced, loud, service was unattentive and the food was sub par. Caprese salad was way too much basil, two sliced cherry tomatoes and a burrata that did not seem like a fresh burrata. And that was $37.90 for 2! Would have never gotten them! We had two pizzas. one was sausage and broccolini, which tasted like kitchen cleaner and the fried calzone which was more dough than anything else. The menus were dated and tacky. As for the wine list, way overpriced wines! What upset me the most was the unattentiveness of the wait staff. I could see it in the tables around me too. Went to Naples 15 with my whole family for my mother's birthday! We had the chef's menu and every dish that was brought to the table was incredible. My mother had the Tesoro del mare as well and it was the most spectacular display of seafood I have ever seen. My fiance and I came here for dinner. We are not from the Madison area so we were excited to try an Italian place we hadn't been to before. The excitement did not last long We were seated at a table that was barely big enough for two people with a "centerpiece" that was so tall we had to look around it to see each other. They had a plain long white candle shoved into the top of a wine bottle and it was obvious they never scrapped the wax off as it dripped all over the bottle. Along with our table being small, our table was MAYBE 4 inches from the table next to us (which also had people seated there vs being an empty table). They were playing music so loud, everyone had to raise their voice to talk to whomever they were with which resulted in us being able to hear everything they were saying (we really weren't trying to) which was distracting from our conversation. We ordered our food - an appetizer and we each got an entree. NONE of it was good. They mananged to burn the noodles in my fiance's dish and the rice in my risotto was HORRIBLY undercooked. In fact the only thing they got right was the 3 scallops in my dish. Overall the place is nothing more than a pizza joint pretending to be an upscale Italian restuarant and hoping no one notices. We visited Naples 15 to celebrate a birthday. My friend is a Naples, Italy native and we thought he would love a taste of home. Upon arrival for our 7:00 pm reservation, we entered the overcrowded dining area and were hit by a cacophony of deafening noise. In this frat-party atmosphere diners were forced to yell to rise above the loud piped-in music. After much jostling in the narrow aisles, we were seated at our table. The tables are placed in rows only inches apart to crowd in as many people as possible. Packed in like sardines, we had great difficulty talking (yelling) across the table to our friends trying to set up our food and wine orders. How relaxing! Our Naples friend declared the Caprese salad disgraceful, light on mozzarella and heavy with basil. The menu boasted that Scallops Diaz would contain "three giant scallops." It was presented containing numerous inferior bay scallops alongside overcooked pasta. The Purpetielle Alla Luciana also featured overcooked pasta. My pizza was acceptable but inferior to that served at the delightful Bar Corallini. The service was irritating, especially with the servers and busboys repeatedly bumping us while passing behind. Dirty wine glasses at the table needed to be replaced and cleanliness was suspect throughout the restaurant. Both ladies' toilet stalls were without toilet paper. Unbelievable!! The wine, like everything on the menu, was highly overpriced for the quality. As a final insult, the birthday girl's cupcake, complete with a candle, was served in a styrofoam to-go container that screamed "time for you to leave." Our friend from Naples was so upset with the experience that he refused to pay for one of the entrees. So much for being authentic Neopolitan cuisine. Naples 15 is a fraud! read more

Never left a Yelp review before. That was easily the single worst meal I've ever had at a restaurant. We attended the UW Grad celebration prix fix meal. It started with a reservation that we were finally seated for 45 minutes late. What followed were 6 courses that got worse and worse, outside in a tent with a spectacular number of insect dining companions. I would steer clear in the future. He knew it was my favorite restaurant, and that I absolutely loved the atmosphere. We love being wined, and dined by, Salvatore! He is an incredible chef! Everything comes directly from Italy- from the wine, to the pasta, to the flour for the pizzas, to the tomatoes. My favorite is the imported Buffalo cheese, wow, it is DELICIOUS!!! We called last minute on a weeknight - when the other major local Italian was too busy and an hour wait. Naples sat our entire party of 7 immediately, brought out a great bottle of wine, salads and appetizers within 30 minutes. The establishment feels like an old family farmhouse in Italy - with the proper wooden beams, white walls, and photos of family and friends throughout. We ordered the seafood sampler, burrata, clams in garlic and olive oil, exquisite pasta puttanesca, Rigatoni a la Salvatore etc. We had just returned from a few weeks in Italy - and as much as we missed it, Naples made it feel like we were still abroad, and enjoying the warmth, the wine and the rich tomatoes.
