We stopped here on a Friday to have lunch as first time guest. I ordered a BLT with onion rings and my wife ordered fish with French fries and onion rings. Our food came out and we noticed the fried food looked dark, I took a bite of the BLT and the bacon crumbled and fell to the plate in pieces. It was very crispy like bacon bits. The onion rings were over cooked as well. The French fries were good. I don't know if they deep fried the bacon or what but it was not edible as you would expect on a BLT. The food overall had decent taste but the bacon was just too burnt. The pickle was soft and warm. read more

On the way to a concert at the Harvester, we stopped for dinner at Ippy's. None in our party had ever gone prior so a new experience for all. The parking lot was plenty full which was a good sign we all felt. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There were plenty of tables available so seating us four was no issue without a reservation.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We didn't have a long time before the concert so we opted to just order dinner. My sister ordered a Franklin County burger which was a half pound of ground beef and deep fried onion rings on top with bbq sauce and American cheese. It was exactly as described - and huge! She ordered fries as her side which was a very large order as well. She indicated both were tasty. I had the Ippys cheeseburger, minus the bread and a side baked potato. Both were tasty and filling. My husband ordered the teriyaki chicken breast and had a side green beans and rice. Unfortunately he said the sauce had zero flavor and had no idea what was on top of the chicken. The rice also came out with zero flavor not even butter on it. My brother in law had the maniac chicken and said it was okay, but also lacked flavor. The saving grace was our lovely waitress who was very attentive and checked in often and refilled drinks before you needed to ask! I used to always get the Ray William's steak. Last week I was in town for a concert and got a burger and onion rings. It was good. If you are a first timer and want a steak definitely try the Ray William's with sautéd mushrooms. You won't be disappointed! I little worried when we walked in. There was a party of two in front of us. Hostess walked by them several times before seating them. We waited another few minutes before we were seated. Our waitress immediately was asking our drink order. Drinks came quick. We put in our appetizer (fried mushrooms). They came out hot and crispy. They were delicious. The wife and I were in the mood for steak. She got the Ribeye medium and I got the 16 oz Sirloin medium rare. Her's was slightly overcooked and mine was perfect. The sautéd mushrooms on top were superb. As for the waitress. She kept our drinks full and let us enjoy our meal without asking us every few minutes if we needed anything. We were at Ippy's last week. Food wasn't up to par. Salmon was overcooked. My friend asked for fried green beans instead of southern style. Both were on the plate. The waiter needs a little more training. We wanted to relax and take our time ordering. He kept coming back and asking us if we were ready order. Didn't know how to pour a glass of wine from the bottle. He filled the glass all the way to the top. Restaurant does need updated. Dark and the booth seat was split open. I have never reviewed a place negatively before, but the time has come... To be fair, it was partially our fault: we DID have a choice. We were staying at the hotel adjacent to Ippy's, and we thought "chain chicken restaurant across the street, which used to be much better than it has become, or try a new place which has the smell of meat cooking in the air". Unfortunately, we passed on KFC. The place was loud, a lot of people, menu was a bit pricey, and service was very slow, but wasn't really surprised from the number of people. But then the food came... and all I can say about it is that apparently KFC cornered the market on all seasonings in town... apparently there were NONE available for the Ippy's kitchen. Tasted not a trace of any seasonings to the point that our food was, literally nearly tasteless. It was so bad, we joked and laughed about it as we left... but wondered what KFC and others could have done to drive this many people away into the arms of Ippy's. So if you like your food completely and utterly bland, Ippy's is THE place for you! If not, and you find it's your best choice... bring seasonings and sauces with you. read more

I have lived in the area for 5 years and I have never been here. It took my sister to visit from another state to make it here. Atmosphere- dark, cozy, yet friendly. And clean! Appetizer was very good. Salad was small but pleasant. The dressing was different but really good! Steaks all around the table and all were satisfied. Now for the service. We were quickly ushered to the elite upper section when I gave my name and promptly greeted by our waiter, Rocky Mount renowned Casey Alexander. Been eating there since I was in h.s. was uncle toms in roanoke, and now here ...always been the best place to eat. went there several weeks ago for my 55 wedding anniv. for something special..was really really let down . service was great...but food did not live up to expectations at all. had seafood platter...cooking seafood, less is better ..whole platter was overcooked dark brown, almost black..scallops and shrimp were not good. was able to eat fish, but should have sent it back, but have never had to do that...should have gotten the steak...know they are great. don't know if will ever go back, if so, no seafood.. better seafood at fast food place. read more

Ippy's isn't bad. But it's not great either. With a lot of my extended family living in the Rocky Mount area, I've been to Ippy's several times and each time thought it was pretty mediocre. While it definitely markets itself as a high quality steakhouse, their steaks are decent, but far from knock-your-socks-off. I've been pleased with several of my salad, steak and potato meals that I've ordered at Ippy's. I've walked away from the dining experience not hungry anymore, but with no real lasting incentive to go out of my way to have those Ippy's flavors visit my palette again. In an area generally devoid of any sort of fine dining experiences, I can see how Ippy's is seen as a cut above the rest. But when compared to other high quality steak experiences, it falls pretty short. read more

We booked the room for large gatherings for December 21, 2019. I alone booked this and on three different occasions, as I wanted to be sure all was clear, we would have the room and there WAS NEVER a time limit. The food was great and the waitstaff was without flaw. After being there for around 2 hours, a hostess found me and said "we booked you for 1.5 hours, you've been here 2 and people are waiting." Needless to say, we had to vacate in a hurry and this made for an unpleasant experience. My daughter complained and received a reply stating it was "not financially feasible" to only book one party in that room. It's very disappointing the way we were treated and no effort has been made to correct this experience. We are a large family and had I been told that our time was limited or we had half of the room, we would have looked for an alternative venue. Very disappointing!!!!! read more

Had a great experience at Ippy's. Got seated quickly and got several appetizers for the table. Appetizers came quickly and were in generous portions. The onion ring basket was HUGE. Also, I couldn't write this review without mentioning the sautéd mushrooms. They were DELICIOUS. Even if you're not a mushroom person give these a try. They were perfect (not too mushy) and had plenty of yummy butter and a touch of garlic. We had a good server who was very nice and would frequently come to check on us and refill water. The ambiance of the restaurant was great. It's best described as dim but romantic. The food was reasonably priced and good. Overall, a great place for a sit down dinner in rocky mount! read more

Went their last night. I ordered their prime rib. It was the worst I have ever eaten.

This place was a nice surprise. My husband and I found it on yelp while heading to rocky mount for a music performance. The prime rib was great and cooked perfect. The croutons on the salad were something special. So buttery and good. Grilled green beans were great, raw horseradish for the prime rib and drink prices were great. Well I can't speak for the rest of the menu but I can give you my two cents on the Club Sandwich. Pros: I upgraded from chips to curly fries and they were nice and crispy. Cons: the ham and turkey slices were a bland and rubbery which made me wonder if they just went for the cheapest possible supplier. The mayo, cheese, bacon and side of ketchup had a similar quality. It's like I ordered a sandwich from Price Rite. Maybe this is the best in the area as some reviewers have mentioned but as a well traveled individual I just can't go along with a 4 or 5 star review. Beware, this was the eighth time that my fiancé and I have been to the bar at Ippys this year. This night we had a drink and half of another, at some point during the evening someone must have slipped something into our drinks. We were sitting at the bar! We have lost hours of our time do not remember getting home woke up with excruciating headaches and our bodies were extremely sore! We called and spoke with the management at Ippys both in the restaurant and the bar. They were supposed to get back in contact with us in hopes that we could look at the video of the night to see exactly who did what to our drinks. But the management nor the owners have any interest in helping us get to the bottom of this situation! We have always really enjoyed having a drink or two there but please be aware, watch your drinks! Because of this incident we will never return to Ippys and I feel that is extremely unfortunate because we really enjoyed their establishment. P.S. We are both 49 years old! read more
