I have lived in the area for 5 years and I have never been here. It took my sister to visit from another state to make it here. Atmosphere- dark, cozy, yet friendly. And clean! Appetizer was very good. Salad was small but pleasant. The dressing was different but really good! Steaks all around the table and all were satisfied. Now for the service. We were quickly ushered to the elite upper section when I gave my name and promptly greeted by our waiter, Rocky Mount renowned Casey Alexander. He was tall (6'2"), handsome, suave Quick with the wit and sweet tea refill. Will I be back? You betcha!

I have been to many restaurants that I've enjoyed but this one stands in a class by itself…read more Starting from its sofisticated yet relaxed ambiance, to its exquisite food prepared by knowledgeable cooks, to its extraordinary customer service by friendly servers. One always has a delightful dining experience here. Today, I decided to dine there on the way to going to watch the Actic Productions musical of Into The Woods which was being performed at the D. Geraldine Lawson Performing Arts Center in Fincastle, Virginia. I arrived soon after they had opened at four in the late afternoon. A friendly young lady greeted me at the Host's station right at the entrance of the restaurant and after asking me where would I prefer to seat, took me to the table of my choice. Studying the menu it was not easy to choose what to get from the great variety of dishes. But by the time my sever Kaylee arrived with a big smile and welcoming attitude I had made my decision. I would start off with a Mojito Mocktail to drink. As appetizer I ordered their Coconut Shrimp, followed by a House side salad with Balsamic Vinaigrette dressing. And as my main entrée, their 8oz Filet cooked medium-rare. I asked the server for the items to be spaced out and to have the salad before the main entrée. The Mojito Mocktail tasted wonderful. As I was enjoying it a young gentleman server assistant brought me the Coconut Shrimps and they looked amazing. They were enormous in size, very crispy on the outside and fresh and moist in the inside. One of the best that I have ever had. I invite you to view my photographs accompanying this review to get a better sense of the place and the high-quality of their food. Then came the salad which also looked and tasted wonderful. Almost right after bringing me the salad, they brought me the main entrée of the Filet cooked to perfection with a loaded Baked Potato. I don't like when this happens, but the food was so good that I patiently ate it and then asked to speak to the manager. There was no manager on site but the person in charge of the kitchen came to see me and I explained the concept of timing to him as a constructive criticism, letting him know that everything was so exquisite that I was not upset, just wanted him to know so that in the future when this is corrected both the other customers and I could have a more pleasant dining experience and enjoy our food better. For dessert I had their Strawberry Shortcake and it was amazingly delicious with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream in the middle. This was the Grand Finale of an excellent meal. The incident of the timing, suddenly didn't seem to matter that much because they took my feedback gracefully and I was able to teach them a lesson in fine dining. In conclusion I continue to highly recommend this restaurant and am looking forward to returning to try one of their other amazing items from their menu.

I took a trip to our Daleville office and everyone I ran into there said the same thing "try Fishin…read morePig"! & they all said that the catfish was delicious so I had to try it. The menu says it is a sandwich but it's more like a poboy with lots of fish on a sub roll. So much that at one point I had to leave the bread behind! That's a good thing because some places don't give good portions of fish like that. The sauce was good and I just HAD to try all the barbecue sauces on the table. I'm not a bbq eater, but the sauces were REALLY good with the catfish and mixed in with my ketchup for the fries. Everyone gave that wonderful southern hospitality and Mike , one of the owners, came by to check in. Very nice and I look forward to visiting again when I'm in the area.

I'll start with the positive because the food truly deserves recognition. Everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The wings were some of the best I've had in a long time. They were crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and tossed in a sauce that had the perfect balance of flavor without overpowering the chicken. Every bite was delicious, and they were easily the highlight of the meal. The BBQ was just as impressive. The meat was tender, smoky, and packed with flavor without being overly salty or dry. You could tell it had been cooked with care. The sides complemented the meal well, making for what should have been an excellent dining experience. If I were judging on the food alone, this would easily be a five-star restaurant. Unfortunately, the service completely changed the overall experience. From the moment we were seated, it felt like we were forgotten. It took an unusually long time before anyone came to take our drink order, and after our food arrived, our server was rarely around. Drinks sat empty for extended periods, and we had to look around multiple times just to get someone's attention. What made it even more frustrating was the waiter "groaned" when we asked for a refill. We waited far longer than necessary for simple things like refills, checking on our meal, and eventually getting the check. There was very little communication, no sense of urgency, and no effort to make sure we were enjoying our visit. Great service can elevate a meal, while poor service can overshadow even the best food. That's exactly what happened here. The kitchen clearly knows what they're doing, and the quality of the wings and BBQ is reason enough to visit. However, the front-of-house experience needs significant improvement. Friendly, attentive, and timely service should match the quality of the food being served. Of all the times we ate here this by far where the worst service we have ever had. Most of the time the service is impeccable. Tonight it fell short, I always usually leave a tip, but tonight was different. I could bring myself to leave a tip on such poor service. I genuinely hope The Fishin' Pig addresses these issues because the restaurant has tremendous potential. The food is absolutely worth recommending, especially the wings and BBQ, but customers shouldn't have to endure poor service to enjoy a great meal. Until the service improves, it's difficult to give this restaurant the rating the food alone deserves.

Abby was very attentive and came to the table frequently to check in and do refills. To start off this dining experience, we ordered the crab bites and a couple of clam chowder. First off, the clam chowder was great. It was one of their special items for the week, so it may not be available every visit. The crab bites were just okay in my opinion. The remoulade they were served with did have a good flavor though. I probably wouldn't order this appetizer again on a future visit. I've had a couple of people tell me to try the hushpuppy basket on my next visit. For the main course, I had jambalaya and would definitely have it again. The sausage, shrimp, and chicken were perfectly seasoned with all the Creole spices you want and expect with jambalaya. The people with me had fish and chips, crab cakes, and the Low Country boil with crab legs. Everyone was pleased with their main courses and agreed that they would come back to try more items. Overall, I would say this was a good new option in Lynchburg that's definitely worth a try, especially if you're a seafood lover. Can't wait to see how this restaurant develops after this soft opening week.

Okay, let me preface this review with: I spend a lot of time on the coast of North Carolina so I am…read morespoiled when it comes to seafood. That being said, my husband ordered the fried seafood platter and according to him the breading was too heavy for his liking. My daughter (who does not like seafood) ordered chicken tenders. I believe they may use the same flour mixture to dredge both the chicken and the seafood, because her chicken tenders tasted very "fishy." I got the crab legs, which were delicious. However, they do not offer real butter so that was a bit disappointing. The things I did enjoy about this place: The decor was very nice. I love the murals on the walls. We did not have to wait for a table as there is plenty of seating. Everything felt very clean. Our waiter was wonderful. He was very kind, attentive, and accommodating. I think that considering this restaurant is in the mountains, it is a fine place to get seafood. If you are used to eating seafood on the coast, you may be disappointed.

We went to Harbor Inn restaurant about five years ago. We were in Roanoke today and decided to give…read moreit one more chance. I can honestly say I will never step my foot back in that place again. I don't have any reason to give them a bad review, I just give my review and tell the truth and nothing but the truth. Whoever wrote that wonderful review for them, must've been one of the owners because here is my experience I love scallops as a matter of fact, my friend owns a seafood restaurant in Yorktown, Virginia, and we are very close friends. He knows that I am a connoisseur of fine scallops so he gives me tips on how to tell if they're really scallops or just white fish. At Harbor Inn, fried scallops are about $19.99. They're very small and they are exactly what my friend warned me of when I buy scallops. The taste of them is not anywhere near a scollops. They are all shaped alike and the same size and the inside does not have the rubbery consistency of a scallop. In other words, they are white fish that has been cut out and sold at a high price. The fried ones are very greasy. I ordered a sweet potato to go with them and it did look good but I had to bring it home to eat it. The only butter they had was on the table and it said right on the front of the little tub " vegetable oil". I ask if they had butter and that was the only kind of butter they had, I told them that that was not butter, it was vegetable oil. It tasted nasty so I didn't put it on my food My husband got the fried fish and they were tiny pieces of fish that were fried and didn't even have a taste other than oil. He bought the fish home and put it in the refrigerator hoping that maybe he would be real hungry and snack on it About 20 minutes after being in our refrigerator I just about gagged. We had to take it out. Take it to the end of our field and throw it out for the animals. Not only did our refrigerator smell like strong fish, our whole kitchen did. The fries that he got were cold. The only good thing about this meal was the hush puppies. They were not bad. I usually don't eat fried foods, but I do love scallops and like I said the fried ones were about $20 but if you got them broiled, they were $25 The only reason I'm writing this is not to try and put a restaurant down. I know they need to make money, but I don't think that other people should have to experience what I did and that's why I'm just telling the truth. Also, when we were there before the bathrooms were really weird, they were corner toilets. They didn't look dirty, but the lid was down so after I lined the toilet, I sat down and the lid fell down on my back, it didn't hurt me, but it didn't feel good either. They were the exact same way this time and the lids are black and they were all chipped and not painted or anything. It was nasty looking. The bathroom did not look dirty. It just looked like it needed updated.
