Some folks think it's easy to make a pizza. Well, it is easy to make a pizza that looks like a pizza but NOT one that tastes like a GREAT pizza. With a few exceptions, most Great Neck pizzerias range from mediocre to edible. For example, Ginos, Antoninos, Francesca's and Rosa's. But somehow I had forgotten about Napoli Pizza & Restaurant. My loss! Recently I rediscovered it and ordered the Vegetarian pie. When I arrived, Coop the owner greeted me by proudly holding up the pie so I could get a good close look at it. T'was a thing of beauty! Most importantly, this was the best Pizza Pie I have eaten since the days of Roma's and Ellio's in Great Neck, and anyone who is old enough to remember those two iconic G.N. Pizzeria legends knows very well what a GREAT pizza really is. I savored every bite of every slice. It was a bit expensive however the slices were so filling I actually got 4 meals out of a single pie. What I really liked is that Coop added a moderate amount of Mushrooms, Peppers, Onions and Spinach whereas most places are just too heavy-handed with their toppings and you lose the taste of the pie itself. And the crust? Well, just perfection. Just two drawbacks. One minor and one major. Napoli doesn't offer personal pies (minor), but far more importantly, does not offer delivery (major). I think if enough customers demand the latter that might change. Personally, I know I'd place 50% or more orders particularly during cold winter months if delivery was an option. I had an emergency and needed new tires so I dropped my car off at Mavis and located this nearby pizzeria. I'm currently sitting here eating my two slices The older gentleman, I assume the owner, is very sweet and nice. I couldn't decide and he told me the slice with onions, tomatoes, cheese and balsamic vinaigrette glaze is very good, so I tried that and a marinara slice. Both were very good. The balsamic slice was my favorite, it was delicious!!!! The other slice was good and really crispy. I tried to upload an audio but can't LOL The gentleman told me to have a seat and he brought them to me, all cut up and nice. As I'm in here, a handful of others came in to eat and pickup food, and each person he (and the chef in the back) knew as regulars. You can tell it's a friendly and delicious pizza spot! I went here based on the reviews. We were visiting family in the area. The place was small, a typical pizzeria. The food was ok but not great. What turned me off the most though was the service. The person behind the counter that helped me wasn't friendly at all. example I ordered a salad with one of the three full entrees (bill was over $70) and I asked to sub the dressing for another, he said no, not that they didn't have it, just coldly responded no. Next I asked that the one entrée not have mozzarella melted on the top. He actually seemed annoyed. This is my order, correct? And lastly you would think with a order of this size he would have offered bread or utensils or something, well, nope nothing. I guess I was supposed to ask? Ridiculous. En route back home from the area picking up my MacBook from Repair Sharks(shameless plug), my friend accompanying me decided to grab a bite. As we drive by I spot this place and decide to stop in. I walked in immediately spotted a patron eating a dish which looked so interesting I had to inquire what it was. Apparently, they make a really really good baked ziti! It's amazing is what I was told by a patron dining here. I forget the name of the dish, however it's like baked ziti with spinach! I thought that sounded different and great at the same time! At 9:50pm on a Saturday night, we called and asked if they were still delivering---the guy said yes like he was doing us a favor. We had to spell the street name out and it seemed Napoli had a bit of difficulty hearing the number as well. After a half hour and $15 (plus tip), a very heavy pie was in our hands. While we asked for a pie with extra sauce, light cheese, well done, it seemed the cheese to sauce ratio was about 3:1. Then again, maybe this was Napoli's version of extra sauce, light cheese. At any rate, it was a very delicious slice! Napoli's flavor is better than all of the local pizzas (Gino's, Michaelangelo's, Mangia Bene, Mario's) and it's a bit thinner than what seems to be the local fave, Gino's. I only managed to eat 2 slices and then I had to call it quits. As I said, the pie was literally heavy. And the slices were a bit rich---I swear the crust is made with butter; it's akin to the texture of the bread part of a "pig in a blanket". From the texture of the dough and the way the slice looked from the side, not to mention the way it broke when folded, there's something in there. If you look at the photo, you can see there's a sheen on the crust. It's now about 45 minutes later, and I can feel it kind of laying on my chest! Make sure you have some ice cold (insert your favorite beverage here) on hand as you're going to need it to wash down your Napoli's! read more

When I go back to Queens to visit my parents I always ask (demand, whatever) that they have fresh NY bagels around and that we make a trip to Napoli for salad pizza. It's not a fancy place, just a regular take-out pizza joint with some tables if you can't wait until you get home before devouring your pizza. But what more do you need from a pizzeria? Aside: For those of you not from the area and are thinking "Salad pizza? What is this insanity". Let me just tell you: YOU ARE MISSING OUT. They cook a pie with just the sauce and then add on top a delicious tossed salad. You're probably thinking that it sounds stupid or simple - but let me tell you, it has to be done right otherwise the crust gets soggy and the salad wilts. It's amazing and even writing about it is making me hungry.. Anyway, back to the review.. Between me and my family we've tried pretty much every variation of pizza that they make. My dad swears by the regular cheese slices, and my mother and I can't get enough of the salad pizza. The salad pizza is never soggy because they usually don't put the salad on top of the crust until someone orders it. I can't attest to any of the pasta dishes, as I don't want to waste my calories on anything other than pizza and bagels when I make the trip from Boston to New York. Came over here after a flight from the west coast, and to be honest, I was hungry and craving for some pizza. At 10pm on a Thursday, there aren't too many places open in Long Island, so where did I end up? Napoli of course. This place was getting ready to close, so I just snuck in, in the nick of time. This place is a small joint on Northern. No frills, just straight pizza. I snagged myself 2 slices of cheese for $2.50 a pop. Kind of pricey for a plain slice, but whatever, I'm hungry. The guy working here was pretty chill though, and cracked a couple jokes while I waited for my slices to be ready. The pizza tasted, well, mediocre. I don't know if it's cause I came right when they were about to close, but I didn't have a great time eating my slices. The crust was crispy and thin, but it just didn't taste right. Cheese was on the not-stringy side, and the sauce just tasted dry and bland to me. Now there's one thing I know, is that to know a good pizza, go with the plain slice. The plain slice here?
