I usually go for their delicious Buffalo Chicken Slices, but tonight I tried the Piccante Chicken Panini with avocado and extra Spicy Aioli Sauce on the side and it was amazing, highly recommend! Not only that, but the portion size is really big! The picture I'm adding to this review is only Half! I was only able to finish one half and I'm stuffed! Definitely worth the money! Used to come here in high school, oh what a trip down memory lane! It always felt so cool to leave, walk down to Scotto's, and eat some pizza with the other kids. Well, I revisited recently, and lemme just say, it's exactly the same as it was twelve or so years ago, high school kids and all. The pizza isn't bad. I always go for a grandma slice here. It's big and saucy, but a bit on the pricey side here, compared to what I'm used to in the city. The garlic knots are always so fresh. I don't believe pleasures should cause guilt, but this one is a guilty pleasure! My favorite pizza is mushroom, but I don't like it here. It tastes plasticky and gross. No bueno. I have just arrived at Mangia Bene's new location! I find it to be the bittersweet end of an era, where we must fully realize that Great Neck's beloved Scotto's is really gone (the pizza place that existed before Mangia Bene took its place), and has been for well over a decade. The new location is nicely done and has ample seating. It's a pleasant location situated right near Saint Aloysius Roman Catholic. The same employees work there and the same great tasting pizza can be had. I regularly buy white pizza pies at Mangia Bene for my co-workers and I prefer their spinach and eggplant specialty slices. Beverages are even more limited than before, though! They have one tiny refrigerator with only soda and no seltzer. I was disappointed. In addition, I had to remind the gentleman to please tape my pizza box shut. And he used a small piece of tape that didn't even hold properly. Little problems. So we put a few trays on a dirty table and ate. During the entire 30 minutes, nobody bothered to come, Dining room is much smaller than old place and it was packed. There is a "help wanted" sign up, so Mangia Bene clearly needs some more wait staff and cleaners, Also, side of restaurant is filled with litter and trash, on the north. Makes a bad impression. Only recently the regular crust has become a very thin crust, still delicious but not what I crave. And the price has remained the same. So today I called and was told that what I received is in fact the regular crust. Certainly not the crust I remember receiving for well over a year! And not the crust you get on a slice at the shop. This place is around my work area so whenever I'm craving pizza, I order from them. Overall, their pizza is pretty good, but on the expensive side. I usually get their specialty pizza, and I'll be full after like two slices. My boss ordered a pie from them once with toppings on half of the pie and got it delivered to the work place. When we opened the pie, it was disgusting. It looked like someone dropped the pie, cuz all the toppings were on the side and not even on the pizza anymore. The crust was really burnt also. At 8:40 pizza still not here even though we had left our number and called to check after an hour. We live about 3 miles away. Called again at 9:00 and got an answering machine. Pizza comes at 9:30 cold tasteless over cooked burnt cheese tough crust - horrible threw it out. Desserts were gawd awful chemical tasting inedible dreck. Not to mention the lemon cake we ordered was actually pineapple. And the excuses from the deliverer were ridiculous. At that point the order should have been comped.
