Very disappointed. Have eaten at Nara Thai many times and considered it the best Thai food in Arizona. However, today Thursday July 14th, we drove down from Prescott to eat lunch before we returned to our home in Phoenix. To our surprise, Nara Thai was closed from July 11th to July 17th, reopening on July 18th. I actually checked their website this morning to make sure of their hours. THERE WAS NOTHING ON THE WEBSITE THAT THEY WERE TO BE CLOSED! Had we known, we would have made other plans for lunch before we left Prescott. The food is fantastic. First two times I got the Arizona Heatwave at a 3 which was spicy but not overwhelming. It's a coconut curry with chicken and vegetables including snowpeas and carrots. It was recommended by a friend and it definitely hit the mark. The place itself is modest and pretty boring from a venue standpoint. It's right by the Safeway. But you don't come for the venue you come for the food. It's been busy each time I've come but not too crazy. read more

You can see in 2016 with my review then, and for many years after, I came here for great food. Since changing from Dara Thai to the now Nara Thai, it's gone way downhill. Portion size is still good, but the food has way less flavor, and you get 3 pieces of chicken with your pad thai chicken. The lunch special is double the cost now. I'm so sad to be leaving this type of review. I have been going to Nara for over 4 years now and used to love the food. The customer service was never great because of how busy and crowded it always was. But the food made up for that by consistently being delicious. So I'm not sure if there has been a change in ownership, or a different cook, or new recipes. But the food from the last 3 times I've ordered from here has been horrible. Thai food is known for its spice and flavor. But everything I have ordered lately has been so bland, tasteless, and looked super unappetizing. I got the yellow curry two different times recently, and the first time there was maybe 3 pieces of chicken and basically an entire sliced onion with a couple pieces of bell pepper and a ton of potatoes. I love potatoes, but when I order chicken curry, I'm hoping for chicken. This most recent time, (giving it one last chance), the color of the curry was almost white. It barely tasted like curry, and both times there was just no flavor. The pad Thai had the same issue - bland, flavorless, and lacked any color, which is very unappealing to look at. It was a sea of white food on our table. Anthem barely has any ethnic restaurants, and even less actually good restaurants. So I'm extremely disappointed that I can no longer come here, but I refuse to continue to waste my money on this bad food. read more

Omg, ok I didn't want to turn this road trip into a dining experience but I stopped in to eat and wait while my clothes dried at the cleaners next door and I had a classic, Pad Thai and it had to be one of the best Pad Thais I've had to date! Stopped by for dinner with some family and was very pleasantly surprised by this somewhat hidden family owned gem. The service right off the bat was kind and helpful when bringing out our food and ordering. despite seeming fairly busy between to-go orders and tables, all our food arrived within about 10 minutes. I ordered the Pad Thai, Tom Kha Gai soup, and Thai Iced Tea as pictured, all of which were amazing. They also offer different levels of spice for all their dishes, so don't be intimidated by the spice level of anything. The restaurant space itself was fairly small, so I wouldn't recommend much larger than a party of 4 based on how the tables were set up if you plan on dining in. Overall, however, I highly recommend Nara for its delicious handcrafted dishes and lovely atmosphere. If you're in the area and looking for some nice Thai food, I would certainly take it anyday over a fast food chain like Thai Chili 2 Go or any other. read more

Of note, as of this writing they are currently open for pick up/take out during the Coronavirus crisis. When you answer your phone and ask if you can put someone on hold, check back with them!!! I was on hold and your phone was off the hook for over 10 minutes!!!! That is super unprofessional. It doesn't take much time to get back on the phone and check in with somebody. I've worked in restaurants, hotels, bars and retail. It is very poor service to put someone on hold for over 10 minutes and not even bother to check in!!! You should change that & want to do better read more

The pad thai is absolutely amazing from here! I will never get sick of it it's that good. Another must have dish would be the orange chicken for me. It's thinner pieces and perfectly tempura fried and the sauce is unlike any other I've tried. Order them. You won't be sorry !! read more

Great little place. We were visting the local outlet mall from out of town and I found good ratings for this place on Yelp. We called 20 minutes before closing and they said not a problem. Low number of seats, about 75% taken, and still busy with local families having dinner. Fast and courtious service, wonderful Thai Ice Tea. We had some yummy food, and the soup was served in this cool dish with some flames comming out of the middle.. Can't go wrong! read more

Since this is the only thai place in Anthem, I eat here but I wish it was better and definitely think they have the potential to be so. I normally order a spice level of 3 to 3.5 however here I can hardly taste any heat at all. The pad thai is okay, if you're in the area and craving it. My go-to appetizer is normally crab cream cheese wontons....the filling at the ones here is an unappetizing pink cream...what?
