Pleasantly surprised for Arizona. Ordered the chicken Pad Won Seen light soy sauce...my favorite thai dish and it was excellent here! Food came out piping hot made to order! Tried the sushi also which was fresh and had a great presentation! I stick with the more healthy and natural sushi and not so much the Americanized fried, heavy sugary sauces or imitation crab meat. My recommendation to the owner is as the restaurant and clientele grows is to expand the variety of rolls & consider adding "all you can eat sushi" option. Service was excellent from waitress Sara! She is so friendly, attentive and listens to any modifications or special requests you may have! Very pleasant and friendly to deal with. I recently came here with my uncle to enjoy some sushi and Thai curry. In the west valley of Phoenix in the City of Surprise, finding either of these food items is limited. This place seemed like our best bet. Since this time of year is busy in AZ with so many snowbirds, I booked a reservation through the online portal. It didn't end up being necessary. We were seated right away and never asked about our reservation. The restaurant is located in a strip mall. From the parking lot, it looks small and more like a fast food place, but it is actually looks double the size once you get inside. It has a nice sit-down ambience with new, clean, and somewhat rigid booths. Straight posture was definitely encouraged here in these upright seats. Although it does seem like a lot of people might order items to go, we were shielded from any traffic while eating. To start, we shared some sushi rolls. The spicy salmon was nice, but I really liked the sweetness of the unagi eel roll. They were a little sloppy in preparation, but this didn't impact the flavor. Each plate came with 8 pieces of sushi, some sliced ginger, and a small ball of wasabi. My uncle asked for an additional plate of wasabi and the server delivered it, but he commented on how they usually end up throwing it away because most people don't eat much of the green ball of fire. The table had a container of disposable chopsticks as well as two types of soy sauce. I was delighted to find the 50% less sodium variety with the green label. small plates with one paper napkin each were part of the setup. We had to ask our server for more napkins after my husband splatter soy sauce all over himself. The server brought just two more. It really wasn't enough to fix the 101-dalmatian spots he had acquired from the black soy splattered all over his white jacket. We also ordered curry. My uncle indulged in the pumpkin curry with shrimp. The bowl was massive - much bigger than mine. I had the red curry with tofu. It was beautifully presented with perfectly formed cubes of extra firm tofu lined up in the yellow soup. There was also bright red strips of bell pepper adding a pop of contrasting color. Unfortunately it didn't seem like my curry was well blended. It was as if they added cold coconut milk to a hot pan and it possibly heated up too fast causing it to separate and slightly curdle. Despite this, it still tasted good. I did have some trouble with the large size of tofu and the length of the bell pepper strips. I wish both had been just a tad bit smaller to fit in my mouth. I only had a spoon, so cutting the pieces wasn't an option. To go, I ordered the spicy green beans with shrimp to take home to my mom. She enjoyed two meals out of it. The shrimp was large and plump. Plus there was no shell or tail to pull off making it much easier and more pleasant to eat. Our bill came out to just over $100 with iced tea and sake added to the above. It seemed reasonable for the five plates we ordered. We had come during happy hour where certain items are a dollar cheaper, but I don't think we ended up ordering off that discounted menu. All and all, it was a decent meal and experience. I might come back here because of the convenient location and the availability of both sushi and Thai curry on the menu. read more

I wish I had stumbled upon this spot sooner since I won't be down the street much longer, but their food is so good. I usually struggle to find places that can make my food spicy enough in Arizona since moving here everything is so mild tasting. This wasn't the case and I actually was struggling to eat it it was so hot but I enjoyed every bite it just took me a while as it was definitely much hotter than I anticipated when asking for hot haha these things are always subjective at the end of the day and I truly appreciated that they weren't rude when I asked if they could attempt to bring the spice down a bit for me. My error during ordering show cased their excellent customer service because I enjoyed the food before asking for added sauce and even after they brought it back it was still great. I'm always a bit apprehensive to leave a less than stellar experience especially on a local business, but the point of my reviews are to give the good, bad, and of course an honest experience. I always try and start by saying I will give a second and sometimes a third stop to make sure things are the same or it was an off night. Here we go. Let's start with the good aspects first. The place is nice. Having frequented often to the location before (if you read the reviews it was Vietnamese) everything is pretty much the same. Same decor down to the wall art. They did however move the entry door. It's clean and quiet enough to hold good conversation. They have a decent lunch menu including some sushi etc. On to the less than stellar, but not overly bad. Service was subpar at best. While our waitress was kind she wasn't very attentive most of our meal either., drinks were refilled and didn't see her besides when our food was brought and I asked her for some hot sauce/chili sauce etc. there were three of us and we opted for chicken fried rice, chicken pho (only option allowed for lunch) but they do have pork etc for regular portions as well as beef and broccoli. My older son is a bit picky so worried to try a bit more of an actual Thai option this go round. We also tried crab rangoons and wonton soup which came as an option with our lunch specials. Our food came out fairly quick. Unfortunately for my son and I we weren't left impressed at all. My pho came out looking really bland by site. Imagine just boiled chicken. Boring. There were no toppings. I took a few bites and yeah bland, no flavor. Again, boring. I was able to get the waitressss attention and ask for some hot sauce or something to add. She brought multiple. To me I'd think they'd do that without asking. It made it better, but I won't order it again. My son's beef and broccoli looked unappetizing all together. There seemed to be a theme with presentation here. The broccoli was turning that yellow color. Like it was about to go bad. Sauce was watery and steak looked dry and over cooked. Meat was chewy and not great quality. He ate mostly rice and a few bites before losing his appetite. The appetizer was good with the sauce. My husband's fried rice he asked for this hot was good. He really enjoyed it and it was HOT. Just how he likes it. Most places just dump domes of chili's and he leaves underwhelmed. Price was pretty good for three people and an appetizer. I agree with a lot of the other reviewers that this place seems to be hit or miss.. Food lacking flavor. I'll try again in a few months or so and update my review then. read more

This was our first time going, and wow am I impressed!! I'm very picky with Thai food and had not found anything in Arizona that I liked after moving here a couple years ago. I got the Pad Sew Ew and it was delicious!! The basil and garlic flavor was strong just how I like it! My husband got the beef lo mein and he really enjoyed it! Great place! Is pretty large inside, nice decor. There looked to be only two ladies handling all of front of house service, but they were nice and efficient, we hardly had to wait too long for anything. Forgot to take pictures of everything, but we got garlic/spicy edamame, Thai tea, beef drunken noodles, sushi sampler, and three other rolls. The nigiri sushi sampler had two yellowtail, two salmon, and one tuna, all very big pieces. The shining star of the sushi was the friendly roll. She told me it was chunks of stew meat cooked overnight. When I got home, it was not at all what she told me, and the flavor was not good either. Next the soup, I will just say, I took one bite and threw the rest away. my aunt had a Thai restaurant, and I've been eating Thai food for over 40 years, this was the worst Thai food I've ever had, not to mention, EXPENSIVE. Found another amazing place on yelp! This was in the general location where I was going to be shopping. The interior was very beautiful and not all what I expected from a strip mall type restaurant. The food was amazing. They served a coconut soup with the lunch special. So full of flavor! I ordered a few things so I could have leftovers. The Moo Ping pork was so tender and so well seasoned. The little sauce that goes with it is out of this world! Also had the Larb in pork, which is always yummy. Ordered the sautéed asparagus, but it came with 50% carrots. I came in for lunch and this place has amazing lunch specials! Every lunch plate comes with a small soup and a little gyoza on the side. The service was very attentive and kind. Our server was accommodating to a young member of my party and helped with a request for them. We thought the pad thai was tasty and fresh. The spice level was perfect for me. We were so excited to see Lao style papaya salad, moo ping, and E-San sausages. It couldn't get more authentic than that for us! We really enjoyed the Moo Ping (pork skewers) but wish there was more than just 3 skewers for the price or the skewers plus a side of sticky rice. Also we wish the skewers came with a dipping sauce. The E-San sausages were good but would perfer if they had Lao style sausages. We would definitely come back for the Lao style papaya salad and sticky rice. (We perfer this style over Thai style since the Thai style is more sweet and made with fish sauce vs Lao style made with shrimp/crab paste and black shell crab) We also had the Rad Na (noodle) and Pad Prik King (spicy green beans) which were also delicious but just wish the portions were bigger. Overall, we look forward to coming back and trying more items on the menu. We've been to Real Thai & Sushi twice since it opened. The first time, we ordered papaya salad, I ordered my favorite Pad Se Ew, and my husband ordered Chicken Gra Pow. We are both familiar with Thai spice thanks to my mom, but ordered level 2 (out of 5 according to the waitress) to be safe. We are so glad we did because, although the flavors and freshness of the dishes were great, it became uncomfortable to continue eating because both dishes were way too spicy. The atmosphere hadn't changed from the previous restaurant and the service was nice but a bit new at things, which is to be expected. The second time we went, he ordered the same dish (his favorite) and I ordered Pad Thai. We also had moo ping as an appetizer. His spice level was 1 and mine was 0. I asked for a side of dried Thai pepper so I could manage the spice level on my own but it never appeared. I ended up using the dipping sauce that accompanied the Moo Ping and it tasted delicious. His level 1 was still spicy but he really enjoyed it. To be clear, we eat and cook Thai food often so we are quite familiar with Thai spice levels and are not amateurs. I will continue to visit this restaurant, as all the dishes were quite good. I will just be mindful of the spice levels every time I visit. read more

The food came out extremely fast and was so good I could barely talk because I was too busy eating and enjoying. The khao sol was such a surprise because the server recommended it to me and it was my first time trying to buy it was so delicious. Definitely a favorite of mine now. My boyfriend had the poke stack and it was super fresh, really good. I used to come here when it was a different restaurant so I thought I'd try this one out. I ordered a couple of different things. I did not enjoy the spring rolls they were made very sloppy and full of water and had no rice noodle inside. Probably the worst spring rolls I've ever had. The yellow curry was decent alittle watery and not very much for how much it costs. The prices at this place were pretty high for what you get and very high when compared to other places that serve similar food. The owner or server was hard to understand and not sure if he understood me. The food also took quite awhile to come out. The inside is almost identical they didn't change anything from the previous owners but it looks good enough and has enough seating. The sushi roll I ordered was very good!
