Decent thai food. Not cheap food. They will customize almost anything you want for you. We like the sweet and sour. Or the cashew nut with tofu. The fried rice with pineapple is also very good. They have recently expanded and have plenty of room to social distance EXCEPT at the entrance. Why people are paying and entering and exiting there is no way to social distance here. Particularly onerous when it is raining and people don't want to exit and get wet. read more

My favorite Asian restaurant in town. I regularly rotate through their padd se ew, pad thai, and pad kee mao, and always make sure to get their spicy dumpling soup appetizer. I'm super thrilled that they now sometimes serve dessert from Tea Luck next door. Their honey toast is amazing!! read more

So delicious - great little surprise driving from Austin to Dallas. The Tom Kha is delicious - my wife got it with shrimp and the shrimp was really really clean. I got the fried rice (served steaming hot) and it was some the best I've had in Texas. The service was great too - friendly and fast. COVID precautions in place: They require masks to enter, all employees are wearing masks, they have outdoor seating, they wiped our table down with bleach cloth. read more

I have such mix feeling for this place. First time I came here, I was already super full from a big dinner, some coffee, but knowing there's a Thai place just walking distance from where I was at, with pretty impressive rating, I knew I had to check it out, at least get some mango sticky rice at the minimum. First impression: the restaurant was super packed on a Friday night, an hour before closing, in such a small town too. Definitely a good sign. It didn't take long for someone to come and get my order. All I really wanted was mango sticky rice. It did take longer than expected (a good 15mins or so) for my dessert to come out. That quickly became irrelevant after I laid eyes on the beautiful plate of mango sticky rice, as a matter of fact, the best presented mango sticky rice I have had. It comes with green/flavored basil seeds as well which was a big difference and adds an interesting flavor/texture to the whole dish (definitely makes it look better too with that color green lol). It was so good (and a little too small) that I ended up having 2 of them all by myself :D. I came back here just a few days later with a buddy of mine, wanting to get more of that delicious mango sticky rice and actually try their entrees this time. This second time around, the service was much slower, the food also took extra long to come out. Good thing I ordered a thai steak salad to cure my hunger somewhat. The salad was fresh, with lots of favors. A win in my book. Unfortunately, my drunken noodle with tofu came out looking pretty depressing. I ordered no bell pepper, extra tomatoes. There were maybe 3-4 pieces of really cooked basil leaves, and no sight of any tomatoes on my plate. I notified the waitress and asked if I could just get some cooked/stir fried tomatoes on the side. I didn't want to be a pain in the ass and send the whole dish back to the kitchen asking them to remake it, figure I could just eat my noodle slowly until the tomatoes come out, it shouldn't take that long to throw some pieces of tomatoes in the wok and shake them up right? Wrong! 5 mins passed. Nothing. 10 mins passed. Nothing. By this point, the waitress completely ignored/avoided us. I waved down who seemed to be the owner/manger. She apologized and said the kitchen is really busy right now, but they'll try to bring it out to me asap. Another 10mins went by. Nothing. Once again, I waved down the owner. She straight out told me the kitchen is too busy to cook some tomatoes for me (really?), she'd give me $2 discount on the bill however. I don't mind paying extra money for good food. Saying giving me $2 discount after technically lying to me couple times for something so simple was like a slap in the face for me (I despise being lied to or deceived). They could have easily told me they can't make it at the beginning, instead of letting me wait for almost 30mins then tell me they cant do it. Maybe I was a little furious with the whole thing, my drunken noodle tasted a lil too heavy on the sauce side. I took 2 bites and didn't touch it again. Rant ends lol I did get the mango sticky rice and the fried banana with ice cream to make up for all that frustration (I paid for them all just in case you're wondering lol). Delicious, quality Thai food is hard to find. However, look no further. Narunya's has amazing Thai food that will leave you wanting more. I ordered a fried rice and added my choice of vegetables. I asked for it to be Thai hot, and it was. Normally when I go to Thai restaurants and ask for Thai hot, it never meets my expectations, but Narunya's made my food with the perfect spice level, exactly what I was looking for. My only compliant was with the shrimp appetizer. I felt like it had way too much breading and not much shrimp. I will not order that again. But the fried rice was so good that I won't count the poorly executed appetizer against them. I will be back and you should check it out too! read more

My husband and I stopped here for dinner before our movie at the Beltonian just down the street. When I told him there was a Thai place in Belton, he asked if I was SURE I really wanted to eat foreign food in a decidedly small Texas town. After seeing how well reviewed overall Narunya's is, he was game. We certainly weren't let down! Since we were working with a time crunch, we decided to skip any appetizers and instead stick to main courses. He ordered green curry with shrimp and a side of rice noodles, and I had the yellow curry with tofu & extra veggies. I tried to order "hot" on their heat scale and the server repeatedly tried to talk me out of it, saying 'we cook real Thai food here, so hot is VERY hot'. I kept telling her I was aware, and that's what I wanted, but she was adamant it'd be too spicy for me, so, to save myself further annoyance, I finally gave in and agreed to only order medium. Newsflash--medium was not spicy enough for me and I was left sprinkling dry spices over the top of my curry to up the spice level (which was not as ideal or enjoyable as had they been cooked IN the curry originally). Still, the food was tasty, and my husband ate his up before I could even ask if he liked it. I also really appreciated that the server thought enough ahead when I ordered tofu as my protein to ask if I was vegetarian or vegan, so they could sub the fish sauce in their curry for a suitably vegan alternative. The plating of both our meals was also really appealing and appreciated. Overall, we both very much enjoyed our meal here, but there's still room for improvement: If a customer orders a certain spice level, after you've impressed how spicy that is, maybe let them have what they want instead of talking down to them like they have no clue what they're in for. Also, and this is a minor gripe, there were significantly fewer chunks of tofu in my meal than I usually receive at other Thai restaurants. The restaurant is also decidedly slow. We had almost an hour to eat before the movie, and we only made it because I boxed up half my meal to go. We dined in on a Friday night and the restaurant was maybe half full. If it takes 40min from seating to delivery to get 2 mains out regularly, woof. I appreciate their attention to detail, but I'd have been happy with a slightly less visually appealing presentation if it meant I got my meal in half the time. Either that or hire another chef maybe? Will we be back, though? Definitely, both because it was a delicious meal and because there aren't really any other vegan options for a sit down meal in Belton. And I'll be ordering it "hot", dammit. read more

I was visit Tea Luck and hears they're owned by the same people and are next to each other, so i got dinner here. I got pork belly pad thai and basil duck. They are only doing pickup now due to covid. They re still quite busy looking at how many people line up. My order took almost an hour though i called in and was told the wait is 30-40 min. I never see such a long wait for pickup order. There was 2-3 people before me. I hope this isnt the same when people dine i . I timed my arrival, yet still had to wait another 30 min for 2 dishes. My partner joked they had to go out and hunt the duck lol I usually judge a Thai restaurant by their pad thai. Narunya is pretty good, not too sweet not too sour. Portion was good. Pork belly was an interesting protein, they were crispy and greasy. It was pretty good! This is a safe choice to order. I got medium heat which was just enough The basil duck though, i would not recommend. For $18, you got a handful of duck meat. They were a tad bit salty, and the basil stir fried stuffs are salty too so together they re too salty. They gave you a small bowl size of rice. My partner was craving duck but he was disappointed. He said my pad thai is better lol if you dine in and feel fancy, go for it. Was sat immediately at last open table. Great!! Busy place so it MUST ave good! I broke a sweat waiting on our drinks. Felt like the AC was broken or off. Waitress took our appetizer order and walked off before we could finish ordering. 15 min later, she dropped off our appetizer and again walked off. Still haven't ordered our main dish (or menus had been closed for 20min by now). Finally, she asked if we were ready to order. Now, I wasn't expecting the food to come out quickly. Previous yelp reviews warned me everything was cooked to order and to be prepared to wait. Actually, it didn't take too long and the wait was worth it. Ordered chicken pad Thai and it was ON POINT. We have had delish Thai food in some of the trendiest places in Asia and this was in line with that. Add your own spice level. Pineapple fried rice was basic. Steamed dumplings were unique. Would I come back? Perhaps to order take out. I seriously was uncomfortable with no ac and eating hot food didn't help. Not sure if that's typical. Pros: food was really good. Cons: extremely inattentive waitstaff and took forever to get drinks and or order taken. No AC made it an extremely uncomfortable experience. read more

The word that comes to mind is delectable! This was the best Thai or Asian food I've had in a super long while. We ordered the steamed dumplings which were tender and tasty. Then we split the fried rice with chicken. So flavorful. I couldn't stop eating it! The portion was Huge! We also split the sweet and sour pork ribs. Oh my goodness! Fall off the bone deliciousness! Oh! My! Gosh! This place is amazing! We came to Belton to visit a street festival and ended up walking in to Narunya's for a late lunch. I ordered the Pad Thai and my wife ordered the yellow curry. Hands down, some of the best Thai food we've ever had. They accommodated our two toddlers and even our reluctant eater couldn't get enough yellow curry. It was also overpriced, considering the competition. This is really Americanized Thai food made bland for Americans who can't tolerate anything with a kick. Because I love spicy hot food and crave authentic Thai food, I was disappointed and won't return. Never had had anything I was disappointed in, and as much as I try to branch out, the pork belly and spicy dumpling appetizers typically end up as my entree. Not a morsel left. First time trying this place and it was a great experience. Our server was very nice, attentive and welcoming. Our food was super delicious, I am usually picky with my Pad Thai but I think I will be returning for their delicious Pad Thai. My husband got their curry fried, he said it was okay, but he would prefer curry soup over rice next time. Went here and got take out of my favorite chicken pad see ew. Place was clean and not real busy as it was just getting on to 11 am on a weekday. I took a few bites in car and was pleasantly surprised by the good balance of sweet and savory. Of the choice of 4 spice levels, I had gotten medium (2 of 4) and it was actually pretty warm. Not a scorching heat, but definitely warm. No sides came with it which was disappointing but it was a good portion for lunch. I actually prefer it to the local favorite joint in Temple which was overly sweet- although they have the best spring rolls I've ever had. I will for sure go back for dining in. I unfortunately ravaged my plate before realizing I didn't get a photo. The 'green curry' was tasty- just note it had more of a fishy taste to it than others I've tried. The 'cashew chicken' was phenomenal and reminded me of the perfectly battered and fried chicken I used to get growing up as a child. No place has been able to match it until now. They added the perfect amount of sliced green onion, thinly cut green and red peppers and onions, and added a healthy amount of cashews. I will be back for the cashew chicken very soon. read more

We wanted to try a new Thai restaurant so we decided to give this place a shot after reading the reviews. I can say we had an awesome experience. The waitress was patient and very attentive and we received our food at appropriate time. We ordered the tour of Thai appetizer and it was delicious. The panang was a little different from what I'm used to (the flavor), but it was still very good. My husband ordered the duck with curry and he also thought it Tate's amazing. It should be a 5. Ok they cook to order from scratch, so your meal needs time, go there ready to wait 30 minutes or more for your main course. So they should let u know when u seat because it is important but also a selling point. Food is worth the wait, it is really good lamb was cooked perfectly and tender, probably the best cooked lamb I've ever had and I eat lots of lamb in restaurants. Flavors where very well balanced. An absolute gem. We're from very far away (large metro area of Detroit) and were amazed to find the quality of this Thai cuisine in Belton, TX. In fact there's not a restaurant around where we live that even comes close to the quality here. Our family all agreed we have the best Pad Thai we've ever had. Stop Now! Come here immediately! Double date night brought me here and everyone loved their meals, and the environment. The Pad Thai and Pad Se Ew were awesome, but u can get that at several places. The Red Curry Duck made me want to take the chef home ;). The duck skin was super crisp and scored so the crunch broke apart in my mouth like a crispy piece of bacon. Under the amazingly cooked duck skin was the perfectly prepared duck breast that melted away and transformed into happiness. Tack on a wonderful Thai Ice Tea to cool off a smidgen of spicy and you will be in heaven. The spicy dumpling, and pork my belly appetizers were on point and got our pallets warmed up for the main course. The place just got its liquor license so beer and wine are on the menu too. If the chef has the time permitting she personally visits your table and welcomes you and ensures your visit is spectacular. Enjoy. read more

I've heard mixed things about Narunya's, but I finally decided to give it a try after reading the place's description. My experience with Narunya's, however, was not one worthy of much praise, and the place seems to paint itself as upscale, but lacks the quality to have prices as such. I'll start with the good things about Narunya's. The atmosphere is nice, it is a cozy place with atmosphere lighting, and the booths are very comfortable. The staff looks professional and they meet you at the door. Upon entering, me and my partner were both sat quickly, there was not a wait, so the first impressions were not so bad. The whole thing had a bit of a pretentious feel though, but I shrugged it off. The menu was the usual you'd see in a Thai restaurant, with stir-fries, noodles, curries, appetizers, salads, and chef-special dishes. There were a few more curry options than I'm used to, which was nice. There were also some dishes that aren't Thai like pho (but I assumed it was probably Thai meat soup with the pho name to make it easier to understand). The waitress came to our tables, got the drink orders, and brought the drinks reasonably fast, but upon seeing we were not ready to order, she told us she was going to give us some time. I got a Thai tea, and it was alright, creamy and sweet, but nothing special. Unfortunately, it had been almost 20 minutes before she came back to take our orders, my tea and my partner's drink were now gone. The place was not even full and she took that long just for us to "decide?" That was my first disappointment. I decided to go with the lamb curry, which is basically lamb chops in a massaman curry, and I ordered medium spiced. Narunya's is a southern Thai restaurant, and southern Thai tends to be spicier than northern, hence why I went with medium (I enjoy spicy food, but was afraid). It took another good while for my food to get there, and people who got there after us were receiving their dishes first, but once again I tried to be patient, as curry takes a while to be made. Once the food got to my table I noticed that the presentation was great, it looked very professionally put together, appetizing of course, but the quantity seemed to be lacking a lot. The curry plate was so shallow and there was not much in there compared to other Thai places; it was such a small portion. Something else that was lacking was the smell: curry is all about spices, fragrance and deep flavors, but it just didn't have that sweet peanut-y aroma that massaman curry usually has. When I finally tried it I could divide it in 3 parts: quality of the lamb, flavor of the curry, and spiciness; the lamb was tender and cooked to perfection, juicy and a bit rare inside as it should be, the curry flavor was lacking a lot though, it didn't have the massaman sweetness, it lacked a characteristic taste, and it was overall bland, and the spiciness was a joke, because medium there was lower than mild at other Thai places that I've been to. All that for $20.00, I expected the curry to throw me off my boots, but at the end of the day, I got a nice lamb with an overpriced mediocre sauce. I am aware that the chef and owner is Thai, but perhaps they were trying to appeal to a more American palate, because unfortunately the food was subpar and watered down for the price. The menu is not cheap, and even though presentation wise the dishes look great, they disappoint when it comes to flavor. I wanted to like this place, I really did, but after this experience I'm not motivated to give it another try. Service is slow, spice level is lower than indicated, food is unfortunately bland, prices are way too high, and portions are not generous at all. It seems like they tried to make an upscale place with Narunya's, but ended up with a pretentious restaurant that does not do its looks justice. I would not recommend this if you're looking for Thai food, because there are better options not so far away (in Temple). read more

Home run on their first at bat. This little gem would shine in any setting, we are lucky to have it in Belton. Here we go: Atmosphere was very nice, open and comfortable. Decor well done. Very clean. Wait staff VERY attentive and friendly. Menu is encompassing but not overwhelming. Food selections made sense and menu item descriptions are on point. Thai tea and Thai coffee...this made me happy by itself. Appetizer we had was the Spicy Dumpling. The presentation was spot on and the food was too - delicious. The sauce the dumplings were in was so good I saved some for my rice. Entrees were chicken (P4) mild for my wife and crispy chicken with basil, Thai spicy for me. Again presentation was great and the food amazing. Wife is convinced hers was better than mine but I have no idea as she refused to share. Pepper content and heat were perfect. Looked at the entrees being delivered to other patrons and it is very apparent that the chef has some mad skills. Desserts were next and did not disappoint. Presentation amazing, taste to match. Sticky rice and sorbet and also tried the fried bananas. Picture perfect. Size portions were perfect. Only negative was that we had to leave. This is now my wife's favorite spot. My mom came here with her friends a few weeks ago, and I've been craving Thai food. Checked the reviews on Yelp & they got really good ratings so.. we just left & I L-O-V-E-D it! I don't know how much more clearer I can make it, if spelling out the word loved wasn't enough to express how much I enjoyed their food. But if you're like me when it comes to Thai restaurants then, ordering Thai Tea is a no-brainer. Your heart & stomach already knows to order this before your mind thinks to order it lol. The glass is tall & compared to all the other places I've been, the price is right for the amount & taste. I needed no refill. I ordered panang curry & this was different because It had lemon grass. The lemon grass taste surprised me, but in a splendid taste enhancing way. It is the most delicious panang curry I've ever had. Sorry mother-in-law, your panang curry is 2nd place now! Our server was so sweet & so nice! My daughter is loquacious & active so she was talking/singing up a storm, but our server didn't look annoyed or act that way. She was super kind & even played with our daughter & gave her treats. FOR PARENTS--I personally don't like getting boosters/high chairs because they're always dirty & sticky. I've eaten at many Thai restaurants and this one places mediocre amongst them. I ordered Pad See Eww, great plating but overall was not seasoned well. I requested the medium spice level as I usually do when visiting a Thai restaurant for the first time. I should have gone with the max spice because the dish was not flavorful at all. This place is located down town not much around it. Why someone said this was one of the top two in Belton... No idea. Here is feedback on specific things: 1. Staff - friendly 2. Atmosphere - clean, spacious except for the location of the restrooms which appeared to have been shared with an attached building. It's behind several doors where you can see the cooks preparing food, abandoned catering equipment, unused banquet area, dark and weird. 3. Lemon grass ice tea - usually my favorite but this one tasted just like Fruit Loop cereal. I asked the waitress for water instead and told her my opinion and SHE AGREED!!! This is about the third time visiting this restaurant. Personally, I love the lamb curry. This visit my wife and I decided to try other dishes. We ordered the eggplant tower. Wow this dish is delicious and its smells so good. Then we ordered the fried pampano in sweet fish sauce. Under this fish is vegetables and a side of the sweet garlic fish sauce. This dish is delicious as well. However, if you are not used to the smell of fish sauce, I warn you. It's an acquired smell. If you don't desire the fish sauce, it is also served with sweet chili sauce. It's yummy as well. If you are starving and desires food on demand, this is not the place for you.
