For two years I had a good experience. Some grooming was better than others but over all just what we needed. Many times they forgot my appointment but made it good. This January there was a rate increase. As every one has. Yet, when I arrived, they not only forgot my appointment again, they were going to groom my dog without telling me that the rate hike was $30.00 higher than usual! The new manager was condescending and the owner was absolutely rude! $85.00 for a basic grooming is ridiculous! Very disappointing. Called three different groomers and they were 1/2 the price. It is exactly one year today since my dog was abused there. I decided to wait a year to give a review because during the months afterward I was still upset, it took about 3 months for the dog to act somewhat normal, and was waiting for Michelle at Nash to call me back. I called 3 times--on 10/20/2018 and 2 times in the following few weeks and left voicemail messages asking what had happened but never received a response. I called Nash on the way to the vet ER--when the vet called they answered, so I know they were there when I called. They would not tell the ER Vet exactly what happened---only that something did happen and my dog did an 'alligator roll'--whatever that is supposed to mean. On 10/20/2018, I took my dog to Nash Pet Salon for grooming. The last few times I had taken her to be groomed she had behaved oddly but I had hoped it was because she dislikes grooming. She was typically done in 4-5 hours, so I called a couple of hours early that day and was told they were still working on her. I arrived and the person up front, who usually talked to me, would not look at me or talk to me. I thought that was odd and they made sure I paid first (not always the case) and it took forever for them to bring my dog out. When they brought her out, she was not her typical hyper self and did not appear to have been groomed. I had already paid, so I didn't say anything and decided at that point I might not return based on lack of grooming. I thought maybe it had not gone well--I was right, I just didn't know how right. Her fur was still long, so it was brushed over her eyes and I didn't think to look more closely. I was also distracted because they told me I needed to put her harness on her (they normally put it on). I put her in the car and she seemed odd, but I didn't think to look more closely. We were going to my parents' house instead of home and she didn't act like herself on the car ride. When we arrived I could not get her out of the car because she tried to attack me. This had never happened and is completely out of character. I thought maybe the dog car seat had pinched her somewhere. I finally got her out with my mother's assistance (I was concerned and upset at this point) and when we got her out with difficulty, her eyes were bloodied (soft tissue around the outside and the sclera). I had not been able to see before due to the fur around her eyes. If we touched her or got near her, she screamed. I decided to immediately take her to the vet. I tried calling the groomer to ask what had happened and had to leave a voicemail, which was not returned that day or in the past year. The drive to the ER Vet was terrible--she had been calm when I picked her up at the groomer, but now she 'screamed'--that is the best description--every time that she was touched or she saw a cell phone (this was new). She also periodically tried to attack us. The last few minutes of the drive, she calmed down. When they took her into the Vet (I asked for help), she didn't attack us but twenty minutes later, she tried to attack the nurse and other assistants so they had to sedate her in order to examine her. It could not be proven, but her atypical behavior is common in dogs that have experienced an adverse reaction to Acepromazine ('Ace'). I was told at one point by the groomer that they do sedate dogs, but I never authorized it for my dog and I assumed when she mentioned it the drug was being given by the dog's vet. In this case, if my dog was given a sedative (the ER vet, her regular vet, and myself all thought she had been), then the groomer was practicing without a license. When I told the nurse at the ER Vet where she had been groomed, she informed me that she was friends with people where my dog was groomed and told my mother and I that the groomer had said nothing happened but a few minutes later the Vet said that he was told something did happen per the groomer but that the information was insufficient to determine exactly what tests were needed, so I had to spend $600 that day (additional money later) for emergency X-rays and other tests. He concluded that my dog had sustained head trauma (and so did my regular vet). She was given medicine to calm her and for pain. My dog was up all night--walked in circles, would not let anyone near her, and stood in a room with nothing there barking at the wall as if she saw something. My dog is about 90% normal--still isn't the same dog I took to the groomer that day. I understand things happen--I would even understand if my dog was difficult and the groomer lost her temper. What I do not understand is the lack of responsibility, honesty, and inhumane treatment. Since she wasn't groomed and sat there for 6 hours, I assume she was put in a crate and left there until I arrived. What if she had experienced internal bleeding? If the groomer had been honest with me, I could have gotten her targeted medical treatment without delay. read more

Stellar service, caring staff, and priced well. They took great care of our husky mix and she looked beautiful when we picked her up. We were surprised at how happy she was in being there! Just had the most horrible experience at Nash grooming! Told to wait outside because only one client at a time inside. No greeting, no, be with you in a moment, and most importantly, nothing posted stating only one client at a time. It was 24 degrees outside! The lady at the front was VERY condescending, told me they had a sign previously but just hadn't replaced it and also looking at my dogs record, said she had never had the same cut twice! I explained that I always ask for the same thing and I don't know the terminology or why her card said a different cut each time. The woman became irritated and I explained I did not like her attitude and she told me to leave. I asked for a supervisor and she turned and yelled, "I'm the owner!" Then again told me to leave. So, do you want your dog groomed there? Think twice people. I'm upset enough that I'm contacting BBB. Certainly will not take my dogs back under any circumstance. Just hoping they were treated well when they were there! read more

When I first started taking my dogs to Nash's I was so pleased! Very pleasant and my dogs seemed very happy. I will preface this with I have two dogs that you don't see often in a groomers salon, Black Russian Terriers. I informed Nash of this and up to a certain point "we all learned together" what was needed. Fast forward to a grooming session wherein I was due to leave for dog show, took both dogs to be groomed that morning. When I picked up my dogs I did not notice anything wrong, they looked gorgeous. When we got to Tennessee to the show I noticed my male (at the time a puppy) seemed skittish around his rear end. It was not until it was pointed out to me by another groomer who happened to be at the show and groomed BRTs that my male had a huge laceration on his gonads (so much so that it was months before it scabbed). It was deep and very large. She informed me that it had been made my a clipper blade. WOW!!! We got through the show and when I got home I called Nash to complain about this. I was never told there had been an "accident" or any issues when I picked them up. I spoke with the manager and the owner who assured me that they would make this right because in addition I was charged the wrong amount. Because of the pandemic it was hard to get back to them, but when I finally did, I was meant with rudeness. I will never take another dog there that requires any sort of special cut or otherwise. I am so severely disappointed in them because they could have had great business since there are not that many black russian terrier groomers on the east coast! We have used Nash for our dogs' grooming for several years. Our dogs are not show dogs and we basically just need them clean and fresh, nothing fancy. The first groomer we tried in Lexington was snooty about our dog's behavior and the fact that we don't want to pay extra to make her look like she's at Westminster--we just don't want her to smell bad or get matted. Nash has been able to get our dogs in every time we've called and they have always been very nice about our dogs, even though we know one of them is a PITA. We appreciate the convenience and the friendly treatment. read more

I love this place for dog grooming! I brought my border collie in on a whim, really not expecting to get in the same day. They were able to get him in for grooming within the hour, and the people and the groomers could not be any nicer. They gave me a tour of the place before the grooming, and everyone that was there seemed happy. I met the owner and different people that worked there and they were all so kind to my dog. After I picked him up, he was soft and fluffy and his cut looked fabulous! They even called me the next day to make sure I was happy with his new do. I cannot imagine going anywhere else. This school used to have a great reputation however now they have instructors with no professional experience training the new students. Instructors with only 15 weeks of grooming training/experience. For 9000$ I expected my daughter to have instructors who actually had credible professional grooming experience. I feel very mislead about what was advertised and told to me by the administrators of this school. I will never refer any person to this school. The dorms are disgusting and have black mold. My daughter has been sick the entire time she's been there. And the schools only concern is money money and more money. As well as pushing the student to groom quantity and not quality. I've been grooming for over 20 years did my research and really believed this school was worth it. We were most certainly taken for a lot of money and given very little education in return. If your thinking of going here DON'T. There are more creditable schools out there that will actually teach you how to be a successful groomer. This is not the one. A total waste of time and money. read more
