I have been a customer of Janna's pet salon for the last three years. Penelope, my 9 year old cat, stopped grooming herself as she started getting older. She is extremely shy and especially does not love being touched or held. However, Janna and her crew always send her back to the car completely shaved and in such a great mood! They always say how great she did, and they try their best to get me in even short notice for sanitary trims in between grooming. Also, after reviewing almost every grooming business in Lexington they are very affordable! It makes it so much easier to bring her in more frequently when the price doesn't break the bank. Easy scheduling, friendly customer service, and they do a great job caring for our French bulldog.

This place is highly disorganized. They messed up my appt. causing me to have to come another day, Fine. The drop off process was so backed up, they came to my vehicle with two leashes. I was dropping off two cats to get groomed, not dogs, which they knew. When I came to pick up my cats they seemed fine. I came home to see this. They had cut her whiskers. Anyone who owns a cat knows this is not safe. It causes serious disorientation and confusion to your cat since they use them for orientation. Super disappointed since a HAIRCUT for a cat, not even a bath, is $80. You don't cut a cats whiskers. Im concerned they are spread too thin and don't care for the animals. I was leery of the reviews prior I read and should have gone with my gut. read more

The best grooming my 2 Persians have ever had. They get matted so easily, the staff did not try to put some guilt trip/blame on me; instead they gave the most detailed results ever. Previous place took a huge chunk of skin (avulsion) off the back of my 14 year old cats leg. I knew it must be difficult but there was a fair amount of bleeding and it took more than a month to heal. I made a slight/kiddingly mention of hoping it wouldn't happen again the following visit and was treated to a raging rant about how badly she was matted and I should be glad (I got what I got) as if it wasn't enough that each cat was nearly $150 (incl tip) She was most likely trying to get me to leave , but I am didn't know if anywhere else. So then afterwards, they refused to trim around my cats feet because of my comment on the avulsion from the previous visit--they left mats & litter to prove a point. That's when I decided to look elsewhere and still remark at almost 2 months afterwards, how incredible a job someone at Jana's did. The delicate toe, tail and underarms were so uniform and perfect. The faces were fluffed out...lion tails! And one had little booties for feet--first time for that Mojo & Tabitha have never been so well attended to. Even a little neck hanky! I'll be back. That's a lot of skill to groom a Persian like that--an artist ! Big Kudos! read more

They have to be doing something special because it takes 3 ladies & the veterinarian to tackle his nails at his vet & he ended up bleeding . But when he goes to Jannas he is a gentleman. I took my dog here for a de-shedding treatment and they did a terrific job! Friendly, efficient and inexpensive - just $40! I've paid around $60 in the past for a less-thorough job. My dog didn't get a haircut, but you can watch the groomers at work through a large window in the lobby, and they looked to be doing a good job to me. Now I can enjoy a few days of not having to de-fur my clothes and furniture! read more

I made very specific recommendations on the phone and they absolutely ignored all of them (like " don't trim the eyebrows ". They cut them short and the whole haircut was awfully uneven. It seemed to me that the groomer didn't know much about his job! My dog did show how happy she was to get out of here! They will never see me again for sure. read more

Looking for a cat groomer, I received a great review from a friend. Took my two long haired cats this past week for a much needed hair cut. My college aged daughter and teen son dropped the cats off and gave specific instructions as to how we wanted the cats to be groomed. When the cats got home I could not tell that anything had been done. After looking closer, a single, maybe double pass with clippers on the belly is all we got. I can't help but wonder if $65 per cat is the norm, or were they taking advantage of my children who were simply helping me out by transporting the cats. This is a "one and done" for me. Thinking that driving 70 miles would be worth my while. read more

I love Janna's! They are cash only and don't establish a real relationship with clients because I'm pretty sure they don't keep your information. It's a fairly unsophisticated operation in terms of tech. They also do not make your animals smell good, so don't go there if you're looking for frills. But I have always been VERY pleased by my dog's cuts. He is not easy and they always manage to cut him short and even and get all of his nails. I will take a good cut for a good value every day of the week over smelling like blueberries or whatever, as the last place I took him before Janna's butchered my poor guy's hair but made him smell good. Not a good deal for upwards of $50. If you only need a nail trim, they'll usually get you in same day as well. Pics below are my lil fluffy guy before and after a cut at Janna's. In terms of Covid precautions, they come get your animal from your car and bring them in on their own leashes to keep your things out of the salon. If the animal is in a carrier, they do not swap out supplies and will carry it in the animal's own carrier. read more

This is absolutely the worst dog grooming experience I have ever had. I WOULD NOT TAKE YOUR DOG HERE!! I took my golden retriever here and they absolutely butchered him. They completely shaved him which you should NEVER do to a golden because of their coat and we aren't sure it will ever grow back the same. Plus who cuts off all a golden retrievers hair unless something is wrong?! They also cut him really bad...they cut him so bad on his belly that it has now spread to look like an infection and we are having to take him to the vet 2 days later. I am very upset. I just picked my dog up from the groomers and she looked horrified. I took her home and looked at her nails and I honestly can say I've never seen such a bad nail trim job. Every single one of her nails was poorly trimmed, uneven and was to the point of splitting. I have a very happy and healthy dog and every time I have taken her else where they have all been cut perfectly and even. They look like they were cut off with a pair of old scissors. I will NEVER take my dog here again. Be cautious with who you let take care of your pets. read more

I took my dog here for a couple of years. Service and quality was always marginal but this shop is close to home. My dog never liked it there but in general she doesn't like grooming. The last time I picked her up the had to bathe her again because they had left her in the cage and she had urinated on herself. This is inexcusable. When I got her home she also had a couple of spots in her coat where they had cut too deep. She ever going back here. read more

I took my Puppy to Janna's pet grooming for a clipping and bath just yesterday. They did an excellent job and did it very timely too. I have found with other groomers in this area that some want to keep your dog all day. My dog was in and out in about 4 hours give or take a few minutes.There were no nicks or chafed marks on her anywhere.I will be going back as soon as my dog needs grooming again. I am somewhat picky about my dog. If you are concerned about your pet I suggest that you give Janna's a try. The place is clean and the staff is friendly. read more

I really needed to leave a review here just to clear my conscience. I took my dog here in October and it was the worst grooming experience I have ever encountered. I am never one that has to really explain instructions to the groomer, I just leave it to them based off his hair/breed/etc. however this was unlike any haircut. His fur was all over the place and uneven in MANY areas, also they didn't even bother trimming his front nails, but did trim the back. In what world did they think that was okay? Also they trimmed his rump region EXTREMELY short, comparable to the hair length near his privates to be truthful, and it looked awful and honestly humiliating for weeks. I have 4 roommates and they all commented on his terrible cut, some being past owners of shih tzu's themselves. I would never go here again. read more

Janna's was recommended by a few friends, so I was excited to give it a try. My cat's haircut looks super cute, but everything else about the experience was a disappointment. I was put off by the fact that they don't take appointments. I was just told to bring my cat in "the earlier the better" as they operate on a first-come-first-served basis. On the phone, I had to repeat twice that my pet was a cat and not a dog. When I came in, they assumed I was someone else, and when I gave my pet's name, it wasn't on the list, but they took her anyway. They couldn't tell me when she would be done. When I came to pick her up with my 1-year old in my arms, I was told they don't accept cards -- only check or cash. The person who booked my appointment didn't inform me of this policy. The two women who were there when I brought my pet didn't inform me of this policy. The woman at the front desk acknowledged that they "should advertise that better" and told me to go to the nearest ATM. So I had to put my baby back in the car and drive to my bank's ATM at 5:15 on a weekday. This took about 20 minutes, which made me miss a fitness class I was planning to take. I can deal with the so-so customer service, and I get that they can operate their business any way they want, but I'm sorry, it's 2018 and any business that wants to be competitive should be able to operate with scheduled appointments and accept all forms of payment. read more

I've been going to Janna's for years now, and have always had a great experience. The girls that work there are friendly and the shop is decorated so cute! I usually leave a $10 tip for my dogs services and last time I accidentally left $30 and they caught me out the back door before I left and made sure that was the amount I wanted to leave. They are nice and honest people, and they make my baby look amazing every time! read more

I keep it pretty simple. I really like Janna's. I ask them to go as short as they can with their nails because I have hardwood floors. They do that for me. I ask them to really brush them out well because I have dark hardwood floors and they do that. And they are on time. read more

I hate giving a one star review, but I got nothing I was led to expect. My dog went in for a bath and nail trim. When I picked him up, his nails were not done. When I reminded the groomer that this service was included in the price, she shrugged and said he would not let her clip them. No price adjustment was offered. I asked that they try again. After five minutes the person who appeared to be in charge brought him out and said he was being aggressive and they could not do it.. My dog is not aggressive, but when it comes to his nails, his behavior is HORRIBLE. I have no doubt he was fighting them and that his behavior intimidated them. She did offer me a price reduction but told me that my 11 year old dog would have to be sedated to have his nails clipped. As I wrote the check, she told me that she was sorry I was upset although I said nothing to her one way or another. She then tried to reiterate that sedation was my only option. When I suggested that they could hire someone with more advance dog handling skills, she got defensive and stated that her 7 years of experience washing and grooming dogs made her qualified. Seeing the pointlessness of the conversation I left, but to do so I had to repeat to her several times that we were done just to get her to stop talking to me. To make matters worse, when I got home, I realized that my dog still smells like a dirty dog. I'm going to have to take him somewhere else for a proper bath. When I first started going to Janna's, I loved it. My dog has always behaved poorly about his nails, but they dealt with it. In fact, the person who bathed him, who I think is no longer there, considered it a matter of pride that she could get it done. It is not that way now. I will not go back. What would be the point.......they cannot get my dog clean or trim his nails read more

I took my Lhasa Apso to Janna's and found their grooming and customer service to be terrible. My dog was somewhat matted and I paid extra to have him completely brushed out. When I got him home, I realized they had left many of the mats untouched. When I called and spoke to Janna, she was extremely rude and blamed me for bringing him in that way, even though I had paid above the normal price to have him groomed. Although they offered to re-brush him, I will never again give my business to this place. read more

I shopped all over town before finding Janna's and I'm now spoiled. And so are my two babies. They love the in-out timing -- 2-3 hours and they are perfection! Wonderful, too, to make appts for same day. I got so frustrated with the 'big box' groomers that had to see current vet records that weren't always fetch-able, couldn't take them for 3 days, and gave no personalization. I have taken my dog to Janna's for two years now and have typically had good experiences until yesterday. They absolutely butchered my dogs grooming. They claimed the guard "slipped" and a patch of her fur is shaved down to the skin. I didn't mind so much that her hair was gone (it will grow back) as I did the way they handled the situation. I was asked to pay (& tip) before being told of the situation and seeing her hair. I expressed some level of disappointment and was told "it's the risk I take having her groomed" I was unaware I was risking anything by taking her there. I called and spoke with the owner where she essentially said "sorry not sorry we aren't going to do anything about" I asked if in the future she would tell customers before they pay and tip if something had happened during the grooming to which she responded "probably not". I would NOT recommend taking any animal there, not worth the price and the customer service sucks. read more

Just brought my two dogs back from grooming. Asked, specifically, that there be no scents. They came back smelling like perfume. I called to ask what I could do to neutralize the smell since I had to bath them when they got home and it didn't eliminate the scent. I spoke with Donella who said the owner of the salon would be out for months and there was no way to contact her. I told her how important it was to the one dog's health that no scents be used. She denied using scents.She became bellicose and suggested that I somehow acquired the perfume scent after leaving there. I told her I'd bring the bandannas in for them to smell. There was perfume that is on the dogs and the bandannas. She slammed the phone on me. If they treat humans this way, how must they treat dogs? Never again! They lost my business and I will share this story freely. Scent-free grooming is a must when pets have allergies. Unfortunately, the owner may never know this story, nor know Donella's reprehensible behavior. "She won't be back for months" she told me, about the owner, after initially telling me "the owner isn't here right now." Beware. read more
