Tried Nashville Detroit because my friend recommended it. Walked in and was immediately greeted cheerfully by the staff. I gave them my order for chicken and waffles and in around ten-twenty minutes, my food was ready to go. I took it home and the smell was absolutely phenomenal. The taste was even better. My husband brings home carryout from Nashville Detroit fairly often, as he is obsessed with their chicken fritters. No hate, but to me, they are glorified chicken tenders. There doesn't seem to be anything "special" about this chicken. It's the way they serve it that sets them apart-- piled on top of things, or things piled on top of the chicken. Sandwiches, fries, tacos, bowls, salads, mac & cheese... you name it, they'll put their chicken on it! Once they introduced pulled pork, Taco Tuesday specials, and unique takes on salads, the menu opened up for me! (Not everyone loves fried chicken, so they cater to us all!) I got this for dinner with my boss and, man oh man, was this good! The pulled pork waffle fries were excellent. Great meat, sauce, and queso. The portions are huge and I would definitely share one entree next time. My boss got the Mac and he loved it. We both agree that it is missing something on the tacos. Tried out a newish local spot called Nashville Detroit. It's been open for I think around 9 months. I was able to go two different times and me and my husband tried a couple different things. We met the owner and he was very nice and he shared his excitement for making good food and having a carry out spot because he is focused on the food and not all the other things involved with running a restaurant. When you walk in you can tell that the place is clean and airy and I like that you can see the cooks making the food. Everything is made from scratch. The first time there I had a Nashville Hot Fish sandwich and let me tell you that the fish sandwich was fire. Literally and figuratively. Lol The spice was real. I like spice so I loved it. I also tried their Sweet Grilled Corn that was pretty good. My husband also got some loaded fries with mac and cheese and chicken called Nash Mac Fries. Overall, he liked it, but because the mac and cheese wasn't that great, it took away from the loaded fries. If you're looking for a traditional mac and cheese, this is not it. There was some type of sauce drizzled on top and if you look at one of my pictures closely you can see the sauce drizzled on top of the dry pasta. It's definitely not a lot of sauce and it's not blended in with the pasta. The second time there we ordered Catfish Bites, Collard Greens, and Corn Bread Stuffing and a Cow and Piggy Burger. The catfish bites were spectacular. They tasted fresh and they had a cornmeal batter that wasn't too thick. The collard greens were delicious They were well seasoned, and I'd love that they weren't overcooked. The stuffing was also very good and well seasoned but it was just a little dry. It would be excellent if gravy came with the dressing. It's available on the side but we didn't notice that until after. Usually cornbread and gravy are served together so we thought it would be included. My husband liked his burger and of course the fries are crispy and well seasoned. We're happy to have found this spot and we'll definitely be back again in the future to try other things on the menu. Pro tip. Our food id always ready at its promised time, and it's delicious without fail. My salad today was beautiful - take a look at the picture of how it is perfectly arranged. The fresh, hot chicken is packaged separately so it doesn't warm the lettuce or fruit that's on it. Speaking of fruit!!! The couple that I believe owns the place has paid a high attention to detail in all aspects of their restaurant. The menu covers all the bases. While I believe some would deem this restaurant to be "expensive", the value is there. The food is plentiful and of high quality. The ease of ordering is excellent. And the service when you receive your food is top notch. The restaurant storefront itself is kept in very good condition. I'm disappointed in myself for not taking any photos of the food! Went here for the first time tonight while running errands in Highland Road. What an amazing find!! The owner rang us up and she was so friendly and personable! I had the Chicken Yard sandwich and my boyfriend had the pulled pork sandwich , both were delicious! The seasoned waffle fries were also very good!
