Completing our visit to the power three delis in the area. Tony's had a good sized dining area. No frills for decor sake. Bathrooms are available in the back corner. Their Mish Mash is excellent. I really enjoyed the Kreplach and matzoh. Worth the trip up there. The Marilyn was very tasty. Not as big as the other delis, I feel it was worth the $14. The biggest issue was the servers. Not at all friendly, smiling or attempting to converse. They also have this annoying habit that they do all over Nevada, by where they try to take your plate because you've stopped eating. You may think that it's outstanding service to clear dirty dishes out of the way, and normally I'd agree with you. But, when there's still food on the plate and I've stopped eating for a minute to read something or talk to my friends, that's not an invitation to come take my plate away. At least these girls all asked nicely if they would like me to clear the dish. No star loss for that. They are open seven days which is great for us. Nice Deli style restaurant located on Orchard lake Rd in Keego Harbor. I used to come to this restaurant way back when, when there were a lot less choices for where to eat in West Bloomfield at that time. Back then, Tony's then known as Daves Deli/Embers did a pretty good job for breakfast and I was pleased to see that they still do after all these years. For my return meal here I ended up getting the Two Egg Grandslam for $9.99 that had Two eggs cooked to order, hash browns, toast and meat of choice. The eggs were well cooked, with four pieces of meat, a very generous portion of hash browns and a rye toast that is just simply the best in the area where it is the same as I remember from 30 years ago. Relative to staff and facility, it is definately not a newer contemporary facility that many of the restaurants are in the area but is a tad more dated/rustic. Having said that it is defiantely clean and being well maintained where I was totally fine with the environment. Relative to staff, it felt like being at home as you could clearly hear the staff talking/arguing in the background (in a friendly way) where you normally do not hear that in most restaurants in the area. My only gripe, which is fairly significant for me, was after giving me my first cup of coffee they never returned to top it off or refill it during my breakfast which is a big no no for me and really a deal breaker. Not sure if this is the norm but if this were to happen again I probably would not return. For the purposes of this review I did not ding them on this but if it were to happen again I would not return. Overall good food at very reasonable prices is hard to beat and assuming my refill issue was a one off I would definately return in the future. read more

Tony's had long been on my list to try and I happened to be passing by on my way home for a business meeting, so I stopped in for an early lunch. I had chopped liver on "rye" and a side of coleslaw. The portions were generous but... neither the flavors nor the consistency were authentic. The coleslaw was bland, almost tasteless. The chopped liver was just weird; it had a curious sweetness to it but not the least bit savory, and the consistency had no "chew" to it whatsoever; it was more like a glob of puree. Even the bread was mediocre; just about any supermarket rye bread is far superior. On an aside: dilettantes judge good Jewish deli on quality of cured meats like pastrami and corned beef. But good cured meat is not rocket science (or art); it's simply assuring just the right proportion of fat, that it's sliced fairly thin, piled high, and that the mustard and aforementioned rye bread is also good. Few delis actually cure their own meats, anyway. And although I love a good pastrami sandwich, my benchmarks for great deli are dishes which require more skilled preparation: chopped liver, kreplach, kishke, knishes, etc. read more

The best Reuben around town! The fries are the top tier. Thousand island/ Russian dressing/ranch is all house made and you can tell easily addictive. The service is unbeatable and attentive. Grew up in the area and never will let another deli have my heart. read more

Yummy stuffed cabbage with PLENTY of red sauce, which I appreciate. Wish they would have separated the mashed potatoes. I'll know next time. Great mish/mash soup. Had to add a 'lil S&P, but that's ok. To each their own. Looking forward to trying more things. read more

My wife and I had the corn beef and cabbage, and it was excellent. It came with a large portion of tender corn beef, potatoes, carrots, and cabbage. We live in Keego and I have eaten there a lot, they have excellent breakfast. read more

We have been here for lunch, and that was pretty good. Our most recent visit was during breakfast, which left a lot ot be desired. I understand they are short staffed, but it took nearly 10 minutes to get our drink order in and the refills were pretty non-existent. It seemed as though they catered to the regulars here, at least during breakfast. The food was blah. My wife had the blueberry pancakes - and while they were fairly good sized for the price, there wasn't much flavor at all (you couldn't even taste the blueberries). The Tony's Omelette was not great. I would expect fresh meats to be in there, since this is a deli. It was made just like any other restaurant, though the cheese wasn't in the omelette - two slices of muenster cheese were placed on top. For the price, you would think a site of fries or hashbrowns would be included. Unfortunately, the price was just for a omelette and toast or a bagel. I opted for the bagel, which was extra crispy and didn't include cream cheese. I might come here for lunch as their sandwiches are pretty good, but I will pass on breakfast. read more

I had high hopes for Toney's, but this place was a huge disappointment. The sandwich I ordered was dry, overpriced, and had barely any meat. I asked for extra mayo, and they must have thought I meant no mayo because my sandwich was completely plain. The bread was stale, and the lettuce was wilted. On top of that, the staff seemed annoyed when I asked for a simple substitution. I won't be coming back --there are way better delis in town! read more

A friend raved about this deli as being the best in the area. so we gave it a try. What I learned is that this friend's taste in food cannot be trusted. Off the bat, the Matzo ball soup flat out sucked. The matzo ball itself was mediocre at best, but what really pushed it over the edge of gross was the broth; It tasted like watered down instant soup mix. Honestly, i'm not convinced that wasn't what it was. To make matters worse, the corned beef was dry and tasted old. This was the item my friend really raved about, which is why I now suspect they may lack taste buds and/or texture sensation. While the prices may be a bit cheaper at Tony's compared to other delis in the metro detroit area, I would say the food tastes like it should be a fraction of the current pricing. I would sooner pay a couple extra bucks at another deli for better tasting food. read more

Hands down the best deli for Reuben's within a 10- mile radius that I know of. The corned beef is always piled high, alongside the sauerkraut. I love the old dill pickles but they serve new dill pickles, which aren't my favorite but my son liked them so I guess it's a win! read more

Very unassuming restaurant from the outside, but don't let that deter you. The food is FANTASTIC! Towering corned beef sandwich, super crispy fries, great matzah ball soup. Got a loaf of rye to go. Huge and very tasty, great for toast. Definitely a top deli. Service a bit slow, especially for orders called in. Ah, Tony's. Awesome! Yes, it's another deli in an area that has plenty of good ones around. Yes, it's very casual with a simple atmosphere and the ordinary deli menu. But, get the pastrami on rye and have them grill it for you (you have to ask and yes, that seems overly needy, but hey - they recommended it one time a couple of years ago and now I'm hooked). We just moved to the area and decided to give Tony's a try because it was recommended by a local friend. She was right, it's phenomenal! I've gotten the bagel and lox both times and highly recommend. The potato pancakes are a good bang for your buck. The deli meat sandwiches are huge and loaded with meat! If I had to pick a complaint it would be the styrofoam carry out containers. Called in an order and the woman got it wrong over the phone, went and picked it up, I realize the Sandwich was made wrong went in and let them know and they added the ingredients they were supposed to the first time and told me that I had to pay an additional 7 dollars for a quarter serving of the food I told them it don't make sense for me to drive back to still have 2 pay for a mistake they made , DHE LOOKED ME DEAD IN THE EYE AND SAID ITS HUMAN ERROR , you still gotta pay still gets me thinking who trained these people read more

I can see why this place doesn't get a lot of reviews... The locals want to keep it a secret so it stays not crowded. My son and I went there on a whim and I had the best cabbage soup you could ever hope for with big chunks of corn beef stuck inside of it. The corn beef sandwich was piled high and unbelievably lean even though I did not order an extra lean. My son's omelette was packed and fluffy and the toast was perfect.
