I have to say the place was busy at lunch time- and the guy behind the register was great- he makes you feel like he's your personal chief! I orders a steak and cheese sub and got a can of coke- $11.41- that's a bit pricey! For me! I think lunch should be around $8 The sub came out in a timely fashion- it was good- I have no complaints. Natalie's is a quiet and unassuming place, set back in a small plaza. Regrettably, I don't think of them often enough when I'm deciding where to go for lunch. So I'm always delighted when I'm reminded. The food never disappoints, and the family/staff are the best. The falafel wrap is my go-to. Grape leaves have a wonderful hint of mint. The hummus is among the best in the area. Good for vegetarians, vegans, and meat eaters. Update: Just returned from dinner with my daughters. I ventured from my usual falafel and ordered the veggie kibby wrap, made vegan without the feta. It was incredibly tasty. The kibby is similar to the texture of falafel, yet more moist with ground vegetables. The wrap was filled with lettuce and tomato, and dressed with olive oil and vinegar. I've heard so many good things about Natalie's, so I figured I'd finally give it a try for lunch since it's close to my new job. I did go into there with high expectations, and was honestly underwhelmed. I order the lunch special- a mini wrap and a cup of soup....which was $11+ after tax. So the mini wrap was indeed pretty mini, and I felt like the lunch special wasn't a huge value. Next time I'd honestly get a regular wrap and a cup of soup. I got the Chicken Shawarma wrap. Although I love sauces and pickles, the sauce was gloppy and the pickles seemed a little out of place. The wrap wasn't bad, it just wasn't anything to write home about. I had the Lemon Chicken & Rice soup which was good. I do like that they have multiple soup offerings. The staff was also friendly. I definitely plan on going back and updating this review afterwards. Fresh and tasty food.... with a very friendly owner who takes the orders and makes your meal. Two of us stopped in for a late-ish lunch and decided on the (unadvertised, but my friend knew about it) lunch special: $9.99 for a choice of a mini-wrap-sandwich and a bowl of soup. I had the vegetable lentil soup and a falafel wrap.... and she had the chicken lemon rice soup and a chicken souvlaki wrap. We were both extremely happy with our choices. My soup was piping hot and super flavorful with lentils (of course) as well as carrots and peppers and onions. The mini-wrap was honestly not all that "mini". It was two five-bite halves each filled with fresh lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles, and tender and tasty falafel patties, and doused with yummy tahini sauce. Natalie's gets 5 stars for the beef gyro wrap alone, which I will get to in a second. The place is located in a small plaza and is very easy to miss if you're not looking for it. Seating is widely available, and the restaurant feels quaint. They have a relatively small menu but with a few options. The staff is quiet but friendly. Everything is very unassuming. At this point, you order the beef gyro wrap. If you do not order the beef gyro wrap, you are making a major mistake. Order the wrap. Take your seat, they will happily bring the beef gyro wrap right to your table. You pull back some of the wrapper, and watch as some of the liquid drips out onto the little plastic red bowl sitting on your little plastic tray. This is what I came here for?, you think. Finally, you take a bite. You let the flavors wash over you. You get the beef, of course, but then you are overwhelmed by the dill sauce. Dill flows over you. An overflowing waterfall of dill consumes your entire being and you are in dill heaven. Did I mention this wrap has dill? There is so much dill in the homemade dill sauce it might make your head spin. I never knew I was a dill fan until I had this sauce. It elevates the wrap to levels unbeknownst to the world before this very moment. I have lived in Buffalo for nearly 30 years, and this is one of the finest meals in the entire area. I wish I could bold that last line, but instead I'll just repeat it. The beef gyro rap from Natalie's Mediterranean Eatery is one of the finest meals in Buffalo, New York. Get the beef gyro wrap. Love the beef gyro wrap. Consume the beef gyro wrap. I've been here a dozen times, and I get the wrap every time. It is consistently amazing every single time. I finally had to drag someone else here to order another meal because I was desperate to try something else but could never betray the beef gyro wrap. She got a shawarma wrap, which I thought was okay, but we also got a falafel appetizer, which was incredibly good. The falafel had a perfect, light crisp on the outside, and a warm, moist, delicious inside. Definitely the best falafel I've had in the area. But can we PLEASE talk about the beef gyro wrap? Natalie's is one of my all-time favorite restaurants. I have been coming here for over 15 years and this place had only gotten better. First, it clearly has the best Mediterranean/Middle Eastern food in the area and quite honestly the best I've had in the United States. It is clean, the food is fresh, and the service is friendly. They have tons of vegetarian options. Some of my favorites are their hummus, tabouli, falafel, and vegetarian kibby. Don't be fooled by it's strange location in an unassuming strip mall--it is truly special here. The family that owns Natalie's puts their all into this place and it shows. There's a great selection to choose from, whether you want soup, salad, a wrap, pita pocket, or a sandwich, there is something for everyone (especially for vegetarians, many options for you guys!) I decided on the chicken shawarma wrap - a panini-style grilled tortilla wrap with grilled chicken, fries, lettuce, and their homemade garlic mayo spread. One bite and I felt like I was in heaven! I used to go here all the time because my former partner in eating a lot loved it more than any other Middle Eastern place... I have to be honest though, while their kebab skewer and garlic sauce are a 5, overall they score a 4 compared to some of the Middle Eastern places elsewhere that I love. However, recently, I've been rating based on one or two dishes that I love at a place, so based on that, I'm moving it back up to a 5. They really do have excellent chicken kabob, garlic sauce, and babaghanoush. What to get: Chicken Kabob Platter with Babaghanoush and Hummus, and with Garlic sauce. Note to owners: stop nickel & diming your customers. My good friend and I stopped coming here because you charge us extra every time you get the chance. It's your call but it's no way to build a loyal fan base in my opinion. End note. What I love about Natalie's: The Chicken Kabob. It's really, really juicy and well-cooked chicken (not well done, but properly done is what I mean), and it comes on Skewers piping hot, and is dreamy. The Garlic Sauce. It's so, so, so, so, so good. It is so good that I always ask for extra, and dipping pita bread or chicken in it is simply orgasmic. Otherworldly. I've had garlic sauce from other Lebanese places too, and while it was good, it wasn't as good as this one. The Babaghanoush: I always order this as one of my sides, because it's really delicious. It has that eggplant feel, that lovely squidgy consistency, and it's kind of sexy. Good for dipping the bread or the chicken in. Get it. Don't get the hummus. This is like hummus but better, and Natalie's Hummus is not that great. What is just OK about Natalie's: The wraps. I just think the bread they use for the wraps is a little too dry, hard and Americanized. The Shawarma that is inside them is pretty good, but not amazing. Their Kofte Kebab (minced Kebab) is OK, but not amazing. The wraps as a whole are not my fave and I wouldn't order them, but my friend that I used to go here with, absolutely loves them, and says they are some of the best she has had, so what do I know? The Pita Bread: it's not bad, and definitely tastes great when dipped in the Baba or the Hummus or the Garlic Sauce or the Chicken Kabob Juice... but it's also not the best I've ever had - I have a feeling it's been frozen at some point. It just has that odd consistency and taste but it's definitely edible and not bad. The Salad: again it's not bad, it's a bit bland, but it's nice and cold and definitely edible. A nice complement to the meal. The Hummus: it's OK, but it's not creamy enough and tastes a bit like the crappy kind you get at Wegmans (grocery stores), but it's definitely not as bad as that. What is bad about Natalie's: The prices. I think charging more than $10 for the Chicken Kabob dinner is a little over the top, I think the wraps are slightly pricey too, but most of all, this place "nickel and dimes" you. One of the most important things you need as a struggling local business is a good rapport with the customers, and while I think the service is fine if not special, and the people are OK if not friendly, I think that being charged somewhere in the region of a dollar for a tiny bit of extra garlic sauce (routinely), is borderline extortion. I know why they do it - they do it because they are a struggling family business that needs every dollar... but I probably only eat there once a month, whereas if they were the friendliest folks on earth who would never dream of charging me for an extra sauce, and in fact offered me a smile, or a sample of this or that, or a free piece of pita once in a while, I might be the weekly customer instead of the monthly customer, if you know what I mean. Please try and frequent places like Natalie's if you can. Buffalo can be a bit of a xenophobic city, especially when it comes to food, and Middle Eastern places usually don't last long. This was one of the best chicken souvlaki's we've ever eaten. Everything was so fresh tasting. The owner was very pleasant and engaging also. We can't wait to return to try their other dishes. This is truly a great place with a lot of potential! There are so many things that we love about Natalie's: the chicken kebabs, the beef shawarma, and the fattoush salad. We also enjoyed the cookie that we tried there- not quite sure what it was. It was a shortbread-like cookie that was filled with spices and nuts(?). Rose water seemed to be in the mix as well. It was quite possibly the most delicious cookie that we have ever tasted. We will certainly be back for more. We bought a few to go while we were there. We also love the fact that Natalie's is very FAMILY FRIENDLY. There were many healthy food options for the kids. They especially loved the chicken lemon rice soup (as did we). Given that there isn't proper table service in the restaurant, you can be in and out with a couple of screaming children. It is also affordable so you can dine there often! The only reason why we are withholding a star is because the hummus was a bit stodgy and didn't taste especially fresh. Natalie's is fantastic. Great service from a family owned business. Being a vegetarian of a decade and a half I usually groan when I see "veggie burger" as an option. Not the case here... They have amazing homemade veggie burgers. My favorites are the Eggplant tofu and broccoli cashew burgers. Served with a side of their slightly spicy dressing and some hot fries and you have perfection. (I have managed to make myself hungry writing about it...) I wanted to love Natalie's so much. Having just abandoned New York City for Buffalo and eaten so much Middle Eastern food there, I arrived at Natalie's hoping that it could serve as my one-stop fix for all of the food I was craving. That it is a family-run venue, that it grew up in the shade of SUNY Buffalo made me want to like it even more. I dragged my sister here on a weekday around noon and was happy to see the very diverse group of diners. It looks as though professors and professionals frequent it as much as college students. Many different ethnic groups were represented, which is great for Buffalo. Since there weren't any lamb options on the menu, (WHY!!?!) my sister and I ordered between us the chicken shawarma, the beef shawarma, and the hummus. The hummus had fine texture and consistency but little flavor, a big disappointment. Served with slices of pita bread, you're not getting anything fancy, anything to write home about. My beef shawarma was similarly disappointing. The beef itself wasn't flavorful, didn't taste the way that any well-charred shawarma should taste. The most flavorful part of the sandwich was the pickle. The minute I bit into that, I knew that I was eating something more than "blah." The chicken shawarma was far more appetizing, but the reason for that is perplexing. Like the beef shawarma, the chicken itself had very little flavor. However, the tahini-based sauce that sopped through the sandwich was absolutely delicious. Clearly, she got the better sandwich... or rather, hers had more and better sauce. By the star definitions, two stars is "Meh, I've experienced better." Three is "A-okay." This restaurant belongs somewhere in the middle. I suppose it's okay for lunch. I suppose that if you want a Middle Eastern-inspired sandwich, Natalie's could serve. But would I recommend it to anyone though? No. We have other venues that are much better destinations for your dollar bills. A brief word about the prices: Across their menu, items feel about a dollar or two too high relative to other venues in Buffalo, relative to other venues in New York City, relative to the quality of the product Natalie's offers. A popular stop for UB workers from both North & South Campus, especially those commuting between the two. A mix of american and Mediterranean dishes with lots of vegetarian options, and the chicken is cooked fresh - yay! I wish they had a better drink selection, but it's certainly not a deal breaker. With all the Great reviews I admit, I went in expecting a lot. I even managed to talk my wife into coming with me - and she's not fond of "Mediterranean" restaurants vs. Greek restaurants. Natalie's did nothing to get me to have her change her opinion. First, the good. Staff was friendly. The place is very clean, and there was a lot of seating available. The Chicken from the Kabob was excellent. Moist and still with that grilled crisp, it was very tasty. The hummus was good - but the amount of what I thought was Hungarian Paprika - but found lacked all smokiness and instead just had the heat of Cayenne - did horrible things to my wife's mouth. The Stuffed grape leaves were okay. Tasty, but lacking a bit in Lemon Sauce. Tabouli has a great rep - unfortunately we couldn't try it as they had none at all. On a Tuesday afternoon. My beef shawarma - well, I don't really know what it was but it really wasn't like any I've experienced anywhere else in the country - and that isn't a good thing at all. It was very moist, and ground very fine with huge pickles throughout. It was spiced - but I'm not clear with what. The pita was .. hard to tear with the teeth Not sure why, but I had to break off pieces with my finger, and they were difficult to chew. The thing that definitely has us never coming back was the garlic-mayo served with the kabob, as well as what was called tzatziki sauce but seemed to completely lack yogurt or cucumber and was made with Mayo and dill. Natalie's is a great place to go to grab a quick inexpensive bite of Mediterranean food. The falafel wraps are fantastic, grilled toasty with big fluffy falafel and creamy garlic sauce. Their homemade pickle and fresh lettuce completes the dish. Homemade soups are delish. I adore the Eggplant Burger! So smokey and tasty. A decent schwarma, (I've only tried chicken and prefer it at Venus). Oddly placed sub-shop menu of chicken fingers and fries and such. I guess it works for Buffalo. Just past Sheridan, this homey spot serves fresh, healthy Middle Eastern sandwiches to go -- not easy to find in this part of the 'burbs. Even rarer: they have four different kinds of veggie burgers - FOUR. (Red Lentil and Millet, Roasted Eggplant and Tofu, Zucchini and Pine Nut, Broccoli and Cashew.) For a veggie-leaning eater, this is a more exciting proposition than collecting all four Ninja Turtle collectibles at McDonald's. I will be back for those. And for a taste of their homemade yogurt. The only reason I'm docking them a star is for their less-than-friendly service. I knew I needed to go back and order one sometime soon. I had the chance to go again this past week when I was going by this place on my way to a doctor appointment. I, of course, ordered the chicken shawarma and it did not disappoint! I feel like I missed out a little bit on life by not having this ever before! There was something about the chicken mixed with fries, pickles, sauce, and other things in this wrap that made it incredible. I also recommend ordering a slice of baklava for dessert. First time here yesterday. We ordered two ends of the spectrum, a classic bacon cheeseburger with fries and a veggie kibby wrap. Both were good and tasty. Portion sizes were very fair and not overfilling. I like the effort made to modernize a bit with the kiosk being digits with a digital signature required. We called in the order and I found ordering over the phone was seemless and no fumbling around, both due to great POS they have and the woman who took my order. I had a rather unpleasant experience with Natalie's. I chose them as a caterer for the event I was organizing, which was the first one for me. In a nutshell, as I was expecting delivery, they wanted me to pay over the phone. For some reason my bank considered this transaction suspicious and the card was declined. I tried calling the bank but it was already after hours. Natalie's could have accepted a Purchase order or suggested their option. Instead I was presented with an ultimatum- they won't deliver already prepared food and rather let it go to waste then find a compromise. I was lucky to have a friend who helped me out and paid for the food. But never again will I deal with them. As for the food, it's ok, not bad but nothing bud bursting. read more

Went there this evening I had the Falafel wrap and my boyfriend had the Chicken Shawarma Wrap - both were good size and very reasonably priced! I was happy to find that my wrap had enough dressing on it, as nothing worse then one that is dry and bland...(have had that elsewhere) We placed our order at the counter and then they brought the food to the table, took 10 minutes at the most for our food...Very clean and comfortable dining area - there were a couple other tables of guests there and some got there orders to go.
