I had always imagined my first Scotch egg would be eaten in an English pub under low ceilings and older regrets. Instead, here it was. Perfectly crisp, warm, and generous. The universe does not ask for permission. Then came the main event. The menu is an atlas of hot dogs. Domestic. International. Proteins in tube form arranged like possibilities. There is even an invitation to build your own, which I accepted. I attempted to recreate a favorite from Crif Dogs, a thing called the Spicy Redneck. Bacon wrapped dog. Pickled jalapenos. Coleslaw. Simple in theory. Destination Dogs improved upon it in every way that matters. The bacon crisped with purpose. The jalapenos spoke clearly. The coleslaw behaved. Both were very good, especially the chicken noodle. Excellent and flavorful. The NE Clam Chowder was also very good and though I like Chowder, the Chicken Noodle IMO was better here. Main Courses, there were 2 orders of chicken tenders and fries, Chicken Souvlaki, and the Meatloaf with Mashed Potatoes and Broccoli. All were excellent. The fries crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The chicken tenders were very big, the Chicken Souvlaki had that nice grilled taste you're looking for in a Chicken Souvlaki, and the Meatloaf was some of the best diner Meatloaf I've had. The Mashed Potatoes was infused with garlic which was a wonderful change of pace from regular mashed potatoes and even the broccoli was good. Crispy and flavorful. Usually vegetables are an afterthought but not this time. I also ordered to take home the Ferro Rocher cake which is excellent. The price overall was comparable to other diners. The service was attentive but unobtrusive. The waiters and manager were very kind, especially to my children. I highly recommend this diner, especially if you're close. It to me is worth the trip even if you're a little out of the way. I do need to try it for breakfast and will give an update when I eat breakfast. I highly recommend this diner and the new owners here deserve the community support.

Then, get this: he said "I noticed that you ate nearly all of it". True , but there was no denying that it smelled bad. He did apologize (half heartedly) but as I'd eaten much of it, he said there was nothing he could do...if only I'd have mentioned it earlier. He was supercilious and dismissive after serving bad pork. I didn't ask for anything, I just think the kitchen needs to know when a food quality or freshness issue happens. As a result, Sal's is off my list and will be off the list of my friends, family and anyone who asks. What a waste of an opportunity. If he had done the right thing, I would feel differently.
