I've been part of Emerald Club for awhile but guess I've always failed at using it properly until now. Finally I got it to work with my company's 3rd party travel booking software and received a magical email the day before my pickup, saying I could skip the line and pick any car in the Emerald Club section. Both rental and return were easy. Didn't have to talk to anyone, lol. Also love that I could grab my favorite rental car, the KIA Soul. Gradually this is becoming my preferred rental agency! Especially because I've had THE WORST experiences at the OMA car rental counter. read more

National Car Rental - Car Rental Near Me - Omaha, Nebraska

The rental was great, but I left an item in the vehicle and have been trying now for several days to speak to a live person and determine how to get the item back. The phone in process is the same every time, call the number, identify that I want to speak with someone, get put on endless muzak hold, occasionally have it ring for a moment, then more hold. Eventually, their system hanging up on me, but generally I just waste time waiting as they tell me to "Stay on the line, your call is important to us." I have been a long time National Car customer, but you have me rethinking my allegiance. So far - over four hours of wasted on hold time just this week, and it is only Wednesday. I find this discouraging and a poor way to treat customers. read more

I use this National Car Rental location about 6 times a year and my most recent pick up was yesterday morning. I walk up to the counter and Jessica helped me. Very nice. Because I'm an Emerald member, she gave me a choice of vehicles and I chose my vehicle, (which I LOVE!). I walked to my vehicle and opened the back and there was a paper plate with the crust of a pizza on it with a napkin. This is out of the norm for these guys as this is the first time in three years that I have seen something like this. I go up to Jessica just to let her know what I found, I threw it away, and I got back in the SUV and drove away. For about the first 30 minutes of driving the SUV, I turned the vents' fans on to get some air, and all I smelled was pizza. It was gross and actually made me nauseous a bit. But after running the fans at full blast, with the windows down, for about 30 minutes the smell went away. Again, something I've never experienced at this National Rental location before. Because both of these items have only happened once in my three years of renting from them, I only docked them one star. All in all, because of the Emerald club and the attendees, I will be using this National Car Rental place for years to come. read more

Even though you have to ride a shuttle to get to the temporary site, you dont have to wait long. Shuttles run continuously. The people a friendly and courteous. Unless there is some big event going on, they have a pretty good selection of vehicles. They loose one star because they need to step up their cleaning game. I always seem to find napkins and straw wrappers. read more

I had rented a SUV. Went to the counter at the airport and they asked me to go to the garage. At the garage, they had only 5 vehicles. None of which was a SUV. I said I would wait for a SUV that they would have to bring up from their storage area. They only had 2 drivers at a time, and the first time they brought up 2 cars, but no SUV. Next time, they again delivered 2 cars. The person at the garage finally asked them on their third go around to bring a SUV. No compensation. Total wait time at airport garage over 35 minutes. read more

We had a 4 day rental with a brand new 2017 Camero. Didn't have any problems getting the car, using it, or returning the car. Returning the car was a very fast process. A guy comes to your car, checked a few things on the dashboard (I think if the car is full of gas & the mileage), and that was it. I didn't have to go to the national counter. Whole thing took about 10 min max. Definitely happy with their service read more

This is actually a review of the entire Omaha Eppley Field Car Rental setup. Dropped off car with no issues, but this "temporary" pickup location has a major flaw. In low temperature weather you need to have a heated pickup area, or shuttles only leave when another is coming in right behind it. Freezing!!! read more

I love this National Car Rental. First, you arrive in tiny, little Eppley Airport. If you have to pee or poop after you deplane, there's a great chance your luggage will beat you out to baggage claim. Then it's just a short walk across the street and down a windy path to the National Car Rental counter. If you're smart enough to do all that Emerald Club crap, then your car may already be waiting for you, allowing you to bypass the counter. (Just like the commercial says.) I'm not up to speed on all that quite yet, so I am still a counter dweller. But within 10 seconds of giving them my name, car keys are handed to me. Or in my case, SUV keys, because I'm always looking for ways to increase my carbon footprint. If I want a different car than the one they suggest, they'll happily give it to me, and I'm pretty sure I've never been charged extra. Not sure how they source talent for this particular location, but they clearly put the emphasis on finding the NICEST PEOPLE EVER. Seriously, the people here are super nice and accommodating. That's probably more about it being Omaha than it being National, because I doubt the folks working one booth over at Hertz are a bunch of jerks. (But don't use Hertz because they totally suck as a company. I hate them. Do not use them. Ever.) Drop off here is a breeze, too. Have some trash in the car? Don't worry about that. The fine men and women of National will happily clean your car for you. Just exit the vehicle, leave the keys behind, and wait for your receipt. Easy peasy. It's a 10 second walk to the airport from there. Thanks to this particular National, I now only use National wherever I go. I'll give them that extra star when I figure out how to bypass the counter and find my perfect car waiting for me. read more

I recently rented a car for a business trip to Wichita and back. The process was fast and easy and I was out of there with a slick Nissan Altima in about 10 minutes. Dropping it off was a breeze as well. The big bonus was the fact my bill was about $50 less than they had originally quoted me. I'd definitely rent from them again. The one weird thing was that even though I signed up for the rental through National, I actually paid Alamo. But whatever. read more

First time through as an Emerald Club member. My only negative to the experience was another person with the same name made an Alamo reservation for a different vehicle. Naturally they tried to give me that vehicle first which led to a little bit of confusion. Once that was straightened out, everything else was flawless. My husband and I rented a car from here to drive to O'Hare. They have a rewards program which is nice, because this rental was free! We drove Hyundai Elantra and it got really great gas mileage. Make sure you get gas before dropping it off, or they will charge almost double the price. At O'Hare they were really nice, and helped us in and out of the car with all of our luggage. i had a dilemma, where I couldn't find my prescription glasses and thought maybe I left them in the car. I left a message for the lost and found department, and no one ever called me back. I ended up calling back 5 days later and finally got a hold of someone. read more

I rented from the these guys every week for 4 solid months thru the Nebraska winter. The only thing that I illed me was the walk out the cars ... not in their control - its the damn Omaha airport layout ... put the rentals way out on the back 40. (when its 10 below and a 30 mph crosswind ... you'd swear its 2 days by horseback.) Otherwise ... these folks were nice, pleasant to talk to, helpful, and down right witty. The other poster has it dead on, this particular National is super easy to find. Honestly, all the car rental places are easy to find here. It probably helps that Omaha is a smaller airport. Maybe it's just me, but the people seemed friendlier too at pick up and drop off. I wasted some time going to the desk then realizing I could go outside to the kiosk. At the kiosk they ask what kind of car I wanted and gave my usual answer "smallest thing you have" and ended up with what looked like a muscle car style Dodge. It was comfy, I'll give them that. They offer you a map too if you want, I declined. Dropping the car off on the other side was pretty easy too. All around a very painless experience. read more

The National Rental Car facility at the Omaha airport is great. I live in Omaha and often rent cars for business trips. I like the ability to park on the roof, walk down, look at the car selection, go to the desk, and tell them which one I want. It works out great. I am an Exec. Elite member so 99% of the time I get what I want. I then exit, drive to roof and transfer my bags and I am on my way. The cars are always clean, low mileage, high optioned, quality cars, at a great price. So why only 4 stars? This is because you have to go the desk for the car selection vs. picking right out of the Emerald/Exec aisle. I know they can't do this with without a secure parking area, but it would still be nice if they could. I am a fan and always rent my cars from National for business or pleasure. read more

I travel frequently for business and have used most of the major rental companies, to date National is my favorite rental company to use. What I like about National is low mileage cars and the ability to select a car from the Emerald Club aisle and go. The only downside I noticed with Eppley is that as a Emerald Club member you do not have the option to go to the aisle, select a car and leave. read more

I like the Omaha National service because it's close to the airport without having to board yet another shuttle offsite. I also like the personalized service you get at the garage office in order to ask for a specific type of vehicle. Not so pleasant in the Winter months however, as this is outside and though somewhat sheltered, is still very cold and can be windy. Customer service is A+++ though. read more

We fly in and out of Omaha often as we have family in the MidWest. National is our corporate preffered company as well. Every time I have rented with them, I have had a wonderful experience. I am an Executive Emerald Isle member so I feel as though they always let me rent the best car they have available! This last time I drove a brand new 2015 Yukon with 6 miles on it. The process is easy and the cars are always clean. I would hightly recommend this process over standing in line in the airport waiting for a mediocre car. Way to get it right National! read more

The employees I encountered during my rental were rude, unfriendly, and not very accommodating. This had to be one of the most unpleasant rentals I have experienced, and I rent a couple of times per month in my business travel. I have felt more appreciation from a dead fly than I did from the young lady that waited on me on November 13th just after 10:30 A.M. I was shown blatant disrespect, obvious bias, and a complete lack of courtesy. read more

I love National and the Emerald Club. The people at Eppley are good, especially since there is no emerald bypass. I had to give four stars because the first week my far was extremely dirty on the interior. I almost always have to clean the interior of the windows on all rental cars, but this one was sticky like soda had been spilled on it. The second week was great. read more

Be sure to refuel your car early before you return it, there are no gas stations in the immediate vicinity of the airport. The closest I have found is on Ames Road west of US-75. The staff is very attentive at this location. The car selection is fair, but it you have a delayed flight and arrive late or during a busy time, minivans and small SUVs can be the only choice. There seems to be no distinction for Executive members and your choice of car may not be available. I have never been able to get the Virtual aisle feature on the mobile app to work here despite trying several times and there is no Emerald aisle at this location. read more

Great Service!!! I am an Emerald Club Executive member and I rent a car 3-4 times a month. While this site does not have an aisle that allows me to choose my car they did do a very good job in getting me the car that I wanted. I was given a car at first that did not work well for me and they listed the cars that were getting cleaned and gave me an estimated wait time for the cars. The staff at the booth and the car both were excellent and I will make sure to always go through them when I am in Omaha. read more
