Fantastic service!!! We had a bird fly into a transformer Friday afternoon around 4pm. We were on our porch whenever it happened about 50 yards away. All the neighbors came out and a bunch of us called National Grid Service. Within 15 minutes two bucket trucks pulled up.... I was very impressed with how fast they arrived. Guys were very nice too told us what to expect depending on the damage up top of the pole. Within 30 minutes of them arriving we all had our power back on. So all in from phone call to problem solved was less than an hour. I'm not sure if that's typical but we are very grateful and happy with the service we received from National Grid.....and the guys were polite and informative. read more

National Grid is the most abusive company to elderly people I have ever seen. I reported a branch from the neighbor's yard the t was dangling on the power lines. This was on the 4 Th of July weekend. They showed up and after sending an independent contractor. The contractor refused to enter the person behind my property and ask asked me to enter on my property. I agreed not knowing that he left a pile of debris. Have been on the phone with National Grid and they don't care. They don't value elderly people, now I have to out of pocket pay someone to remove the debris. Shame on you national grid and Caitlan the supervisor they did nothing to help. read more

If I could give negative stars I would. Called to have electric service turned on in a house I just bought. Was told power from old owner will be shut off on the 27th and mine will kick in, even confirmed to their solar dept which I was told I'm all set. On the 26th they shut the power off, never turned mine on. All my freezer and fridge food went bad. Called and their customer rep and was told the opposite from the first guy. I was told they would have my power on on the 27th. I go to my house tonight and still no power. Called national grid to get jerked around again saying we never shut the breakers off. You would think in the 2 prior calls someone would've mentioned that to me or even called me to let me know. I explained that I have contractors coming on the 28th, they need power. If I have no power they can't work and I get charged more from them. Nation grid does not care. They can't confirm if they can get someone at my house in the morning. My neighbor thats just coming off chemo and several dissabled people where left with out water all night after they were forced to do there job. I was a customer for 3 years but when I moved I called well ahead of time to cancel my service but they conveniently didn't email me confirming my termination of services and then they forced me to pay the bill of electricity I wasn't even using because I had already moved out. They cut my power off with NO notice and on a Friday! We just moved into a new house a few days ago (not even a week). I'm 8 months pregnant and diabetic and have reptiles that require constant light- yet the EXTREMELY rude lady on the phone didn't care and told us to call on Monday. Then she hung up while we were still talking! Absolute garbage. I could understand if we didn't pay a bill or something- but to shut off our power with zero notice is criminal. The worst. Customer service is trash. Sent me two different bills then said I didn't pay. When I finally spoke to someone and they realized they made a mistake the line suddenly "cut out". No one called back and when I called again was put on hold for a really long time. Just paid the bill again, cuz my time is more valuable than waiting on hold for hours. Should be ZERO Stars!!! Our power goes out on Tuesday at 4:15 pm. No internet service either. I called National grid immediately and for the next 4 days with no information about the severity of the problem. If I had an inkling of the problem I would have immediately gotten a large generator but I was strung along that it might be soon. Freezer and 2 fridge full for covid19 survival. Even National grid guy saying it could survive for 72 hours. But this is a heat wave too. Long story short luckily I bought the only generator I could find on Wednesday afternoon after buying $25 of ice. Excellent generator but very expensive because it's a Honda. Don't trust the clowns at National grid. Lesson learned. Zero compensation. Pool and garden area shot. Landscaping a mess. Useless information and response time. How do we get a new provider? Why do they have a monopoly? They have the worst and most messed up customer "service" I have ever experience. They CONTINUE to bill me for an address I NEVER MOVED INTO. I have called them repeatedly, sent them email with a letter from the apartment complex stating that I never moved in. I have tried getting service for a house I bought and it has been a nightmare. I called and set up an account a few weeks ago. My power was cut off last Friday. I called and they said that the account was never set up and I would need to call back on Monday. I called on Monday and opened a new account. I was told that they would turn the power on Tuesday. National grid customer service stinks. The Rotimi system is a joke. It's so laughable. When you call into National Grid all the customer service people are very rude and disrespectful to its customers. Are used to have ever source now that I moved to the city I'm living in now, when I was told that National Grid was a joke, they're not kidding I was at my job the other day and a contract was saying how bad the national grid is also one of the employees I work with said the same thing they lie and they do whatever they can to steal your money. I'd first like to thank the line workers who do an amazing job considering the circumstances they deal with during our New England Storms. But, this isn't about them..... This is about the idiots who decided it was a good time to start calling customers and playing 3 minute voice messages to us, even leaving them on our answering machines, all while we are in the middle of a Nor'easter. The long call stated facts that should be common sense, like staying away from down power lines and keeping vents clear. To place such a call and tieing up lines DURING a time when people are trying to use their lines to contact them about actual issues is plain stupid. AND... There was no way to opt out! Just because they have a monopoly on my electric service doesn't mean they should be able to spam me without permission or the ability to opt-out! read more

I echo other reviews posted here, if you have an alternative, you should really take it. We called days in advance of a move only to discover the power had been shut off at our new place. When we called (in the morning, on a weekday) to get someone to come out to literally just flip a switch we were told that they didn't off same day service (despite calling days ahead of time) and the next available technician wouldn't come out for 3 days! I am a physician and need access to my hospital's EMR to do my job! When I started explaining this to them they hung up on me! Called back, asked to speak with the manager, was told they would call me back, never did. 45 minutes on hold to try to raise my budget plan as my cousin has been hospitalized for more than 7 months. Of course the account is in his name. They can't talk to me without him giving permission or poa. He just had his leg removed. Sorry, can't talk to you. Not to mention the prices of this company. 1. National Grid mistakenly overcharged me almost $300.00 dollars. 2. Did little to get the money back in my account in a reasonable amount of time, maybe 6 days at the earliest. 3. Said if I cancelled the check they couldn't guarantee I wouldn't be penalized. 4. Didn't offer me a credit or anything for the trouble the mistake continues to cause. 5. On Jan 10, around 540pm, I was making a uturn from Hamilton, to Hamilton. On of your bucket trucks was a safe distance for me to make this maneuver. That is until the driver sped up, coming within inches of hitting me, then changed lanes in order to cut me off. They were speeding and driving dangerously so I couldn't get the truck number. The driver then hit the breaks and was gone. This is a heavily settled neighborhood. Driving ten over the speed limit is especially dangerous because of the weight of the truck. Train your people better otherwise you'll have an 80,000 dollar work truck, stuck into the living room of a 3,000,000 dollar house. read more

While the customer service reps are not rude, they simply do not care. They are just there to do a job and don't display any human emotions or feelings. I respect the cleanup effort but they aren't working around the clock. I saw them at 6 30 last night drop off a pole or two and leave. Never came back. I understand they need a break but I have no heat, the food in the fridge is all bad as well as a full freezer in the basement being bad. No laundry, no hot shower. No hot food. No excuse for this there's plenty of people that are unemployed that would literally work around the clock unlike most of their crew, which didn't even show up in my neighborhood until Wednesday night. Unacceptable! Hire more help so I wont call u out on your lies. I have literally seen only a few crews in my area. Received a bill for over $2,000 for electricity. I found that odd since I pay on time and my monthly average is $200 +. National Grid says they made a mistake over the last 3 years and did not charge me properly. I asked for details and readings and none were provided. I was forced to pay the fee. Horrible customer service. I can't wait until we get rid of them. The city is working on legislation to allow residents to choose their provider. Worst possible utility company. They turned off the power for my elderly dad after they fave him to the end of the week to pay, they cut it that Tuesday. I called to have service put in my name and was told it would be turned on tomorrow 6/28 AFTER they took payment out they tell me service cant be put on till the 29th and I should have called earlier in the day. Also if i pay the reconnect fee of over $300 they will come out within 24hrs yet since I put it in my name I have to wait till the 29th. How is it they cant make it to the same address to turn the electric on in my name YET they can come next day to reconnect it under my dads name? I have my dad on heart machines AND a 3week old baby in the house. I asked to speak with a manager and was told they left for the day. Here it is at 7:30pm and a rude man named Mark from national grid calls to tell me there is no way anyone will come connect it before the 29th AND I need to make sure to turn the breaker off and I will have to look for a gray tag on the meter to know that they have turned the power back on. When I asked how do I find the main breaker he replied find it in your basement somewhere and then hung up. If anything happens to my baby or my father they will end up with a lawsuit.
