This business obviously has some serious trust issues. Why would you ask the customer to pay in advance for repairs. I don't know if it was profiling but would not be surprised. Also would not accept two forms of payment. I have never heard something so ridiculous before but they talked themselves out of an almost 1000.00 repair. Somebody needs to get some type of training. I stopped here to get a 2nd quote after going to another shop in the area and am so glad I did! My exhaust is a bit rusty and one of the pipes had rusted off but the mufflers were still pretty solid so they recommended replacing just a short piece of pipe vs. the whole system. This shop was my go-to when I had exhaust work, I could not do. I sent friends, family and clients to this shop for years. However this past June I brought a car in that needed a simple weld on the downpipe after consulting with shop and them deciding a weld would not do but instead they would re place the connecting piece. So, I am charged the price to replace the piece but later I found out they welded the piece. Be careful here they have proven to be not an honest place. I took my car in with my own parts. They put them on for me and gave me a 30 day guarantee on their labor. (Could not guarantee my parts, obviously). These guys were honest and fast. I did not have an appointment but they still took care of me in less than an hour. I took my car back to them a few days later because I heard a noise under the car. They put it up on the lift and let me look with them. Turns out the heat shield had rusted through on one end and was bouncing up and down. They removed it for me at no charge. These guys are great. I have been looking for honest mechanics for some time. I found them with National Muffler. Prices were reasonable for the work that they do. Granted they finally fixed my exhaust after quoting me a price then coming back in 15 minutes to tell me what else they should do and up charge me. They used to have a waiting room next to the technician's and you were able to actually see what they were doing. Now they have moved the office/waiting area so you don't know what's going on as they come back and attempt to get more money out of you. It not only happened to me but they pulled the same move on another customer that was waiting for his car to be fixed. As he came back from the garage area you could see they got him. One star is too much for this place! I and the other half have been there twice and have been screwed over! We initially went there because the check engine light came on, which turned out to be due to the catalyst. While inspecting the car they also "found out" our brake pads were due for replacement and we also had an oil change so all together the repairs and parts ended up costing around $900. Only a week after the repair the check engine light came on again and we went back. They "fixed" it but after another couple of days it came back on again! We went back to them but they said it wasn't their fault and it could've been anything and sent us home because they were fully booked that day and couldn't check it right then and there. However they promised that they would call the next day... That call never came... Another 2weeks later the car also started rattling and a smell of exhaust entered the car, so bad you couldn't drive in it without all the windows down and then still you would get a headache... So we took the car to another shop who said the catalyst had either not been replaced and the check engine light just reset or, the catalyst was replaced with a second hand one that had broken down as well (national said they'd put in a new one)! On top of that they hadn't put everything back together properly so everything came loose (hence the rattling noise and smell) and that carbon monoxide was entering the car! So the $900 National B&M charged us for the repair was money just thrown away... I will never ever go back to this place! Also, the last time we went there other people who waiting there as well were complaining about bad service and things not being fixed. Do not go here, you can not trust these guys! read more

Went to national muffler today after going to my regular mechanic to check on my muffler which I thought I needed, my regular mechanic quoted me $300 to get just a muffler not an exhaust system. And they also said that it would take until Saturday to get it fixed (now I went there Friday)so after going to national muffler they quoted me a price of $67 and change including taxes to fix a minor part that was common on my type of car to get fixed. Never needed a muffler after all. Thank you national muffler and I will always recommend your company to everyone and will always continue to give you my business. They saved me over $230! Absolutely incompetent. Went in for a simple brake job, a week later the brakes are squealing. End up going back 4 TIMES to get it fixed and every time it gets worse. Finally I gave up and went to change the brakes myself and realized that they stole my lug nut key so now I can't even get the tires off. AVOID THIS PLACE read more
