This university at first was very challenging trying to get lessons done on time and getting people to reach back out but all in all towards the end, it was amazing because I got the beautiful graduation that took place locally planned by Maheba and the returned thesis book copy requested to Betty of what I wrote back in 2017 and it has been in their library. I was fully matriculated into their MET program needing to complete 9 courses to finish my degree requirements. I passed 6 or 7 of them with flying colors, then they reneged on their commitment and asked me to take several other courses to get my degree. Buyer beware! National University makes you sign a waiver that essentially makes you the admissions counselor. My wife enrolled in National for an administrator credential, which her school district said she qualified for. After paying over $10,000 and completing the program, National University told her that the requirements for an administrator credential had changed and that she did not qualify to receive one, even after successfully passing all the required courses. In other words, unlike every legitimate university that pre-screens applicants; National University gladly takes your money, places all of the responsibility on you to determine if you actually qualify, and then only at the end tells you whether or not there is an issue. National refused to offer any refund and was far from helpful. read more

It's a hit or miss with this school. I have had some awesome teachers and some horrible ones with nightmare-stories to tell. Some of my classes have been through Zoom and someone from the front desk has to connect us, we often get forgotten about and have to summon someone. It is a pain in the butt to try and pay for a class. The online system seems to never work and the office is always busy. You would think that they would make it easy to take money. I needed help with some documents and every department sent me to another. Very irritating getting the run around. One class was canceled the day before it started because they didn't have an instructor and that it started a day late. That class had to be made up on a weekend which was irritating because our weekend time was so limited. When class did start, our new instructor was completely unprepared and the first week was a complete bust. They could have pushed it back a week instead of wasting our time. They handled that whole situation terribly. The irritating part is the facility doesn't seem to know their jobs or don't respond when you have a complaint. I have had to go up the chain of command to get stuff done and it should never have to come to that. I am only going here because they are one of only two schools in California that offer my program. I feel that for the amount I am paying in tuition, the administrators should be more prompt to address our concerns. read more

I took few Business English courses there. I really liked the system which is one course each month, it was tough but it was a great experience. I have not taken any courses on-line yet, the one I took where in campus in the evening. It is a big commitment. I have yet to get a reply from this school but I had the worst experience trying to enroll here. My admissions counselor and the director were both extremely hard to get ahold of. I've called and left voicemails, I've emailed, and still haven't heard back from anyone. The director initially reached out to me because I had a bad experience with the enrollment process and it was basically a game of trying to catch her when she was in her office. She does not call back when you say you're available and instead chooses to call when you are conveniently at work or unable to answer. I've told her numerous times my available times to talk and she chooses not to reply. Horrible school. They are incapable of holding a friendly conversation. Everyone I did speak to was very stand-off ish. And I'm willing to bet not a single person from this school will respond to this either... read more

I am a student that just transferred from Cosumnes River College and I am a big fan of online classes. It fits my schedule and I like the fact that it's one class per month. Instead of spreading all your energy on many classes in a semester, you can FOCUS on a single class a month, pass it and move on to the next. It is in fact an expensive university but if you're a low income student, and you have a good gpa, you should have Cal Grant A, Pell Grant, FSEOG, and other scholarship opportunities to back you up. The business teachers I have encountered so far are helpful and are very knowledgeable. These are some professors that are also teaching on campus from well known state universities like Sac State and etc. Good luck you guys! read more

Took two music classes which were good. BUT. trying to get a transcript sent is a joke. Working on this for three days...many hours. They will not assist but send you to a crappy online site with no phone contact. Tried three times to get ONE transcript sent. Six units with two A grades. That is with a LOT at university level. Have talked to several people at N U. ..problem still lingering. This part of NU is completely below standards of satisfaction. SKIP this school if you are interested in transferring units. I'm not a student here, but I rent classroom space from them for meetings. The facility is immaculate! Classrooms have comfortable rolling desk chairs and a/v built in. Staff is courteous and helpful. So glad to have found them--much better experience from renting dingy hotel meeting space. read more

I obtained my Master's degree from their online program which was first class. Then I decided to enroll in their teaching credential program out of their Rancho Cordova office and everything went severely down hill. First they made me take duplicate classes that I had taken under my Masters. This is usually the case...but these were identical down to the textbook. When I pointed that out, they yelled at me and said it was mandatory. So, I stupidly bit that bullet. Next, I had another mandatory joke of a class on campus where the teacher, who was an elementary school principa, didn't bother to follow the curriculum, talked about partying and getting drunk every night, let the class out 2-3 hours early, and bragged about almost punching a parent in the face. Great, professional role model. Then when it came time to place me in a school for the internship portion, they only have undesirable schools available ...nothing near my neighborhood in Roseville. They claim diversity, but it's really because not a lot of schools consider them an acceptable program. They actually pay old...very old retired substitutes to place you...no red flag there. So they can only place in schools they know and that will accept National. The school they set me up with for example hated National and bad mouthed them the entire time I was there making it really uncomfortable. At this school The University set me up under two teachers who were openly suing each other and fighting. The school and my University knew this in advance! These teachers had no lesson plans prepared and you could tell they just gave up! They actually told me student teachers were to be used to give them a break (so they could go swimming and shopping). After complaining about this odd situation to the University they turned a blind eye and told me it was too late..there were no other schools. In addition, the once a week seminar that was combined with student teaching was and still is taught by a man who is so racially prejudice against white people it is shocking. Stating blatantly "White people cannot teach black people" and "We have to hold the blue line!" It was surreal! More than half the class dropped out and I was told by my advisor to complain about him because everyone else was too,! What is even more shocking is that they received numerous complaints about his blatant discriminatory behavior and nothing was done. I tried to speak to the campus Director and she doesn't give you the respect to even return a call. The VP out of Orange County scrambled to place students in other seminars. It was a joke. She said she investigated but a few students liked him so there was nothing she could do..uh, not acceptable. So, after dealing with this nightmare I quit the program. My advice...STAY CLEAR, VERY CLEAR of the Rancho Cordova campus and any programs or staffing. They don't care about their student's at all. They are rude, unprofessional and you can't help feel that all they want is your money. It's a shame that they are condescending to their own students (the customers). Quality education is something that you won't find here. CA should shut them down. Total scam! Really if I didn't have to rate this campus they don't even deserve 1 star! Spend your hard earned money on a quality credential program. At a reputable CA State University. No wonder CA schools are in so much trouble! I took all the classes, exams and TPAs needed to start my student teaching in the single subject credential program at National. I wanted to student teach at the school I presently work for but National will not even take the time to consider it because it isn't a school they have contracted with. Instead, I have to quit this job, complete my unpaid student teaching and then look for a job. I have a great opportunity at the school I currently work for that also helps me pay for my family's health insurance and National won't even speak to the school so they can learn more about the program. I have a enormous amount of debt because of this program and even though becoming a teacher is something I have always wanted, National is making this almost impossible for me to complete. I'm trying to grow personally and provide for my daughter and me and I just don't see it happening now. read more

Well earlier in the year, like during the summer, I was interested in National University. I liked how their system works, where you can take a class once a month. But however, the cost is phenomenal. $400 something dollars a credit! That is a big financial commitment. Plus, I might need take 17 or 18 classes that can't be transfer from my community college towards National. Or maybe more, cause my adviser keeps adding classes? What I like is that this is a NON PROFIT school. This is important. They have a really good program for teaching credentials btw. I like that about it. At that point, I really would love to become a teacher, and go take my English classes, but it really is a huge financial commitment to do so. In this day and age, being in debt towards 40,000 dollars is not smart. Also, my adviser didn't seem like he knew much what classes transferred and what didn't. I had to do research myself and informed him myself that those classes indeed transferred. In the end, I sticking to another program, one that take less debt in the end of the road. I like how its a one class a month format. But the price scares me. read more

I'm a former employee of National and one thing I can say is you get a high quality and rigorous education. If a student has a bad experience its because he or she is not putting in the work. I seen all of the negative reviews on here and I wanted say something as well! This school is one of the best for teachers.. All of the schooling is done online and the on-site classes are at night! They are very flexible when it comes to scheduling and working with you except financial aid. They screwed me several times telling me I was getting money then no I wasn't.. It is really frustrating. But other than financial aid they are amazing.. The professors I had (special education program) were amazing and always wanting to help and be there for you! My professors were very insightful and helpful! I learned a lot from them and I am glad that I went here. The lady who commented that no schools accept national university graduates is full of crap I tell many people in the profession where I go to school and they all say that it is a good reputable school.
