I'll be honest, it's been a long time since I've been here. After wrapping up an appointment at Kaiser Nextdoor, we decided to run in and grab a bite to eat. We pulled up, and almost left because the "Open" sign wasn't on. I decided to check online which said they were open, so we decided to walk up and verify. They were in fact open. My husband briefly mentioned that the sign wasn't on to the ladies behind the counter, and we were greeted with a "Yeah, we know." Which felt a bit abrasive. She then explained that both employees there currently had injuries preventing them from turning it on. But the initial response felt ungrateful and a little rude. My husband was simply trying to be helpful and let them know that we almost didn't stop because they look closed. Then, when we went to order my husband started with "We're going to do two sandwiches on the Dutch bread." And the employee kinda abruptly responded with "We will do one at a time." It wasn't even what she said, it was how it was said that made us feel uncomfortable. She was short with us, kinda rude, and acted like she didn't want to be there. I ended up tossing half my bread to the side and eating my sandwich open faced because the bread to content ratio was off and the bread was definitely on the stale side. I ordered the Hang Loose on sourdough bread with "The Works." First impression, the sandwich looked amazing. The bread was soft and fresh, and the presentation was on point. Biting in, there was plenty of flavor, but it leaned a little too much on the dry side. The texture of the meat made it feel like I was chewing beef jerky at times, and the yellow peppers were a bit overdone in quantity. A touch more sauce and some juicier, more tender meat would have really balanced it out. Taste: 6/10. Presentation: 10/10. Honestly, it felt a bit overhyped. Service experience: When I arrived, there were four staff members working, but no one greeted me. They glanced over, but I stood there for a while before anyone acknowledged me. I eventually made eye contact several times, and finally someone asked, "Are you here for pickup or to order?" I said I wanted to order, and they told me they'd be with me shortly. I waited another 5-10 minutes before actually placing my order, and then another 5-10 minutes for the food. I didn't mind the wait too much, but the lack of a friendly welcome stood out. Extra touch: The sandwich came with a cookie, a small one, soft and pleasant, but nothing special. Honestly, it tasted like something you could grab from a grocery store bakery. Our sandwiches were tasty. I got the biggest size, and was perfect for me b/c it was 2 meals. Got mine with extra mayo, and they delivered and marked it as well on the outside. A lady walked in for a pick-up order, and asked for a side of extra garlic sauce. maybe next time I'll do the same. Service was good. Sandwiches took a while to come out, so I I think I would order ahead next time but this was a spur the moment decision. Not sure why, but the lights were all off when I walked in, except the lights behind the counter for the staff so it was mostly dark inside. If you place an order online and show up at the time it says it'll be ready it's NEVER ready I've done this now twice and each time it was not ready, and I'm there waiting an extra 30 minutes. Works don't greet you when you walk in they're extremely rude when you ask about your order. A worker said they were still working on my order when they haven't even STARTED my order. Don't waste your time coming here, jersey mikes has better customer service and faster. The young girl with long lashes, a nose piercing and a bun was rude. The only one that was nice was a young gentleman he seemed to be the only one actually working. All the girls were just talking and messing around. And I absolutely love that the have mini and Sammie sizes options for those times that you're craving but not as hungry or just want to try multiple combinations! I have ordered the 'Italian' on a sweet bread with 'the works' twice now and I gotta say it's my favorite hands down. This spot is also located at a corner so not a lot of traffic but it does get busy from time to time. 1st time at the Tracy Mr Pickles, what a disappointment, 4 Sandwich Makers 1 customer, took way too long to make a Small Hang loose...when asked what Bread I chose Wheat and asked that it be toasted, the response oh don't worry it just came out of the oven and it's warm. After waiting 15 minutes, and taking it to go, my goodness the Hang Loose sandwich was a Big Disappointment in flavor and style 11.95 was such a waste of money. The Modesto Mr Pickles is far more superior in customer service and flavor. I will never enter the Tracy restaurant again. read more

The people behind the counter are quick to greet you when you walk in. Placing orders is fast and easy, and they have no problem with people omitting things from the sandwich that they don't like (I always get no pickles and no onions). There is plenty of variety - both hot and cold sandwiches and many kinds of bread which is always fresh. There are a few tables inside but I have always gotten my food to go because I live a couple blocks away and I just eat at home. It sucks that they open up at 10 am but I only assume that it's because they're probably out in the morning picking the freshest vegetables available out of the field to put into these artisan sandwiches and salads. How does a business let its voicemail get full if they actually care about customers being able to call when they have an issue? I should be refunded for items that I don't receive, but it feels like they purposely make it impossible to reach them so that customers have to go out of their way to have issues rectified, in hopes they just figure it's not worth the hassle. read more

Just moved to the area and found that getting food that is not a taco or burrito is a 10 minute drive from where a work. I ventured further one day and found this place. Wow! The sandwiches are amazing. I've tried several. The Mr. Pickles and the Big Jake are excellent. So far this week, I've had the Got Beef and the Manhattan. You really can't go wrong at this place. I always get everything on the sandwich on a Sourdough roll. I love it! I think it's made fresh there. Sure tastes that way. They also have a sliced sourdough which they recently started carrying but I haven't tried it. I assume the guy at the register is the owner, really cool if you need suggestions. My husband and my adult son was in there today 3/14/25. Ordered three sandwiches to go... My husband on his sandwich specifically said "No onions" and of course someone f*ck-it up. He literally couldn't eat any of it. Threw the whole sandwich away, Making us all feel like shit now because he had nothing to eat for lunch. The Mr. Pickles here in Tracy is by far the best sandwich shop. Place is clean & tidy. My go-to here is usually the Hang Loose or the Baja Cheese Steak. Quality within both sandwiches are amazing--don't forget to ask for the works(veggies/condiments etc). Amazing sandwiches. Each sandwich looked so good. You can see each layers of veggies and meat. They do not skimp you on meat either. Everything tasted very fresh. Even the tomatoes had a nice crisp to them and not wilted. The only thing i was a bit upset about was the sandwiches were not ready as promised when ordering online. I finally called back to discuss the situation expecting a calm reasonable conversation, an apology even. Instead I had her screaming at me on speaker in front of my children. Picking apart parts of my review and claiming I'm a disappointment. She even called our work emergency line. This is borderline harassment. I will NEVER eat there again or recommend it to anybody! I'll start by saying we've been regulars at this pickles location for many years, as we work across the street. Today was a terrible experience. We work in health care, it's obvious as we come in every time with scrubs on, and need to get back to our patients in a timely manner. Today neither of the owners were present, and it showed. We had to first off clean our own table, but no biggie. We ordered, and was told our soda would be brought to us. 15 min later, 8 sandwich orders had been taken after us as we sat and watched. When the line was helped, I walked up and asked for our sodas as our mouths were dry from chips. Not sure what the issue was, as nobody ever addressed us or apologized. Unbelievably all 8 sandwiches ordered after us were delivered before ours. We waited 32 min, and we're finally handed our bag, with an attitude, by a rude red headed employee. No apology, no explanation, no thank you. She didn't even look at me when I said it was a lengthy wait in my opinion. She ignored me and walked away. The owners shouldn't be happy with this treatment of regulars in my opinion. I don't want to hear they are under staffed and stressed from Covid as an excuse.
