Come to find out the golf course owner was playing behind us and she "plays fast". Don't pressure us to play fast with people who walking. Didn't appreciate the unnecessary pressure.

The check-in was easy and the Staff is available to meet and offer guidance one you arrive. They don't allow golf carts in the parking lot so you want to get there early to allow adequate time for check-in. The course was in very good condition. Tee boxes were well marked and in good repair. The fairways are not exceedingly wide so you will be in trouble if you are not accurate off the tee. My biggest complaint was all the granite rocks, just a real pain and on several holes can really impact your shot selection. There is some up and down and few elevated tee boxes but not a lot. My favorite hole was #17, a 135 yard Par 3. There is a big granite rock that partially blocks a clear path/view to an elevated green. You don't want to be left or you are on Mt Rushmore and not in a good way.

For what you get, this course is overpriced. It seems like they ran out of money when designing…read morethe back 9 as several holes are just kind of jammed in. Holes 10, 11, and 12 come to mind. 11 is silly narrow and is under heavy fire from the nearby range. Gotta think no-one cares because range balls were whistling through a narrow band of trees and collecting on that hole as we played it. Greens were slow and had piles of ants erupting from them. Fairways were cut pretty tight but were patchy and burned out. Its a sub standard layout on which high handicappers will lose a dozen balls per round.

Best public course around, by far. You will not find greens better than these for the price point-…read morethere are memberships as they are actually semi-private however there is a long wait list. I've heard complaints about the wait list but memberships are limited in order to save tee times for the public- so not sure why people are so upset! Play here if you get a chance, it's a very busy course so keep up with the pace of play and you will have no issues!

Having been stationed at Pease Air Force Base from 1981-1983, and having played this course several…read moretimes back then. I was excited to return. Things have definitely changed. A lot of trees are gone, the swampy area (which we called the flats) seems to have been drained, and I noted the course was in excellent condition. It seemed to me to be shorter and play easier than I remember, but I really only remembered 2 holes (#10 at the end of a runway, which i remember as #1 and #2 which i remember in general but not where on the course it was). But... it's been 40 years and I may be misremembering. Anyway, the course is forgiving. My drives were not spectacular, but u was able to hit approach shots on or near enough to the green to score mostly pass and bogeys... in a soaking rain. As a veteran, I payed $38 to walk, which i thought reasonable. After, i went to the grill for lunch. However, no one had noticed me for two minutes, and, since I was wet and uncomfortable, I left and drove back to connecticut. I definitely want to go back on a warm, sunny day!
