I've been to Nationwide Vision a few times. The wait times are consistently long, no matter when you schedule an eye exam. The office itself is okay, but the staff aren't very friendly or talkative and could benefit from better customer service. Whenever I call, it's difficult to get through--they rarely answer, though they do check voicemails. When it comes to choosing frames, they don't offer much guidance or advice. Add-on options are presented, but costs aren't clearly explained, so you have to ask about prices for everything. Overall, the service feels impersonal and could be improved in communication and support. read more

From the moment I scheduled my appointment to the minute I walked out the door, I had such a positive experience with this Nationwide Vision location. I could not have asked for more professional and kind care. When I arrived, the front desk staff were welcoming and quick to help me with the paperwork, which made check-in super easy and stress-free. Not long after, Yadira brought me back for the initial testing. She was so friendly and patient. She made the whole process feel really comfortable and efficient. I really appreciated how kind and professional she was. Then I saw Dr. Drew, who was fantastic. He gave a thorough exam and made a quick adjustment to my glasses. He was clear, helpful, and efficient. To wrap things up, Michael helped me pick out new frames and was arguably the most pleasant part of my experience. He gave great suggestions and really helped me find a pair that I felt confident in. He made the process smooth and was very helpful as he took measurements and helped finalize this fantastic visit. Every single person I interacted with was kind, knowledgeable, and made me feel like I was in good hands. I left feeling very well taken care of and will definitely be coming back. I scheduled this appointment a week ago and the day of the appointment I thought my appointment was at 4:30 and was running late so I called ahead and let them know that we were running late because of traffic. They informed me that my appointment was actually at 4:50 with a check in at 4:30 and as long as I was there by 4:50, I would be fine. We got there at 4:54, again because of traffic. when I walked in, they told me they were unsure they could still see me. They are open until six and we were the last appointment of the day. there was nobody else in there and while they were looking in the system, checking me in, an assistant from the back, came up and told the receptionist that he would have to ask the doctor if they could still see us because they had "already shut down the machine". I know and understand that I was "late" but tell me why the hell I gave you a heads up that I was running late and you guys told me I would be fine? and why the hell did you shut the machine down before we even walked in the door?!Seems to me like this staff did not want to work and just wanted to push us away so they could leave early on a Friday night. They also couldn't see us again until the next Saturday. Very dissatisfied and going elsewhere. if this business has strict rules about their appointment times, then they should have let me know about it when I was on the phone with them 20 minutes before, and also should not have made it sound like it wasn't a big big deal if we were there right on time and missed the check-in portion. read more

The customer service here was not good. Annette was the lady who helped us. My two year old son came here to get glasses. His is autistic. We do not have a lot of money but he has Medicaid. We advised the lady working there that we only want what Medicaid covers for him. She got so upset and acted like we was bad parents because we couldn't afford the more expensive lenses and frames for him. She mad rude facial expressions and stated that he NEEDS this because he is autistic and the proceeded to roll her eyes at us. Next time we have to get glasses we will not come to this specific location.. it was very unprofessional and rude. read more

I personally never have experience such a bad customer service like in this location, after I got my glasses order wrong TWICE I have been trying to get help over the phone and of course did NOT happen, drove almost 40 minutes to this location when it says its open but they were close doors and people inside refused to even properly talk over the glass of close doors. At this point i just want that they cancel the new order ( for what I have to pay a fee if cancel, but to be honest idc) but not even with that they are helping I will have to drive another day another 40 minutes and just hope someone can assist me, get my money back and go somewhere else. read more

I went for my annual eye check up on September 8. I got both glasses and contacts. I got my glasses three weeks later, and my contacts are nowhere to be found. This office does a terrible job all the way from the doctor to the people that work there they don't return calls. And I've never waited a month for my contacts ever. If There was something going on and if they would only communicate with the customer I would understand but the line of communication is terrible. My husband went a few weeks before me. the first time they screwed up everything the glasses he couldn't see so the doctor said let's just come on in and let's do the start the whole thing all over and we're still waiting!! I called on 5/19/20 and scheduled an eye appointment for 6/6/20 at 10:30am. I had a babysitter come over and called the office as I was leaving to confirm my appointment since I never received any follow up confirmation from them. The assistant on the phone had no record of my appointment at all. She then started giving me other patients names and date of births confirming that I wasn't those patients. She was extremely slow on the phone and completely broke HIPPA laws giving me clients information. Now I'm out of money on a babysitter I don't need and I still have no eye appointment. Obviously the first assistant was incompetent as she couldn't even correctly schedule an appointment. I made an appointment several weeks ago for 10:15 today. My wife is disabled and only leaves the house for doctor appointments. This was a very challenging morning getting ready and we were running a bit late. We arrived at 10:22 (7 minutes late) and were given the typical new patient packet to fill out. About 3/4 of the way through we were told because we were late we would have to reschedule, even when people ahead of us were still waiting to see the doctor. We have been to this location half a dozen times with great experiences every time. This time, however, the receptionist (Nancy) was HORRIBLE. I had never seen her before and I'm glad because I would NOT have ever come back. Before our appointment, all she did was complain about having to train new employees. The whole vibe in this place is terrible now. We stood at the desk after our vision test (Dr. Truong is AMAZING) and Nancy didn't even acknowledge us. She wasn't busy, she literally just didn't want to do anything. I asked what we were supposed to do next (get frames? Make another appointment?) and she still didn't answer! I told another employee (Marianne) about my negative experience with Nancy. She walked over and told Nancy, then Nancy came over and started YELLING AT ME in the middle of the office about how she has more important things to do than deal with customers. The manager stood there, watching her yell at me. He looked dumbfounded, this woman is DEFINITELY a problem and should be FIRED. We will be finding another eye doctor, after being a Nationwide customer for 7 years since we moved here. Very disappointing. read more

But gotta say this irked me so much. 12:30PM (lunch) appt took 3 weeks in advance. 1 week ahead confirm 1 day ahead 3 notices, txt, email AND PHONE to say please be there at 12:30. I show up at 12:30 prompt. Ok some paperwork blah blah. 12:35 turn in paperwork.. For 55 minutes I sat with not a peep from the 2 receptionists to say, sorry for the wait, let me see how long that will be, we will be with you in just a second. Nothing. 1 hour I sit with nothing, NOTHING said to me about my appt. Had to leave finally. Guess who didn't get a phone call, text, or email apologizing or even asking if I was outside the door? The doctor seemed very rushed, somehow my eyes got better. I am curious if I can even see when I get me glasses. After I left there I feel I don't even know what I ordered. After two weeks of no glasses, I called and they have no status, I asked if they had anti-glare and the lady on the phone said "I think, maybe". ??? Not: I am a receptionist let me get you someone who knows the codes. then I spoke to the manager, he had no understanding or care of my concerns. i will be reporting this to my insurance company. .I have vision insurance and this facility was recommended as an in network provider. I had my appointment and seemed satisfied with the Doctor and the service. Picked out my glasses and paid my co-pay of $212.00. Waited for my glasses to come in, called several times to follow up. Finally they came in. The glasses seemed fine and I was to start using them the following day, as they are progressive lenses. I followed the instructions. They made me dizzy and gave me headaches, causing nauseousness. I have worn progressive lenses for over 10 years, so the adjustments should have been easy, but it was not. After two weeks, I called made another appointment to see the doctor, waited two weeks for that appointment. At the appointment I saw a different Doctor and together we decided to change the prescription on the new glasses. I got a copy of that prescription. Submitted the glasses for correction and waited for weeks to get them back. Then After a week of trying to adjust, I realized they had not been corrected and the same effects were happening. Fast forward, I still have the glasses and cannot wear them, the period for resolution has expired and then 4 months later, they billed me another $105.00 for a portion the insurance did not pay. I have since purchased glasses, on line from the prescription I received, and the glasses are perfect. Highly recommend that you skip this facility. Customer service is slow and dismissive. read more

Lucky stars this location received one star. They deserve negative stars. Unfortunately, I had to give this location at least one star to allow a review of how terrible this location handles their patients. Due to COVID typical temperature taking was at the door. Yet, in lieu of the typical 3-4 COVID questions, we were asked our names instead along with "how can I help you?" on two different occasions within 5 minutes after letting them know we were there for an appointment. Is anyone listening, anymore? There were 2 check-in people at the front desk. One was on the phone and the other pretended not to see us after eyeing us as we stood there waiting to be attended. The one that pretended not to see us finally decided we were important enough to be attended. After having us review last years paperwork for any changes, immediately noticed our address was not changed. Not only did I change it on the phone the million times they called to confirm our appointment and verify insurance which I didn't mind, the updated information provided to them was still incorrect as we were told we need it in your handwriting. With advanced technology these days, killing our forest trees should be a thing of the past. Made no sense what and how she explained it. We waited a bit in the lobby while the one front desk person was having an off topic and personal conversation with the assistant that should have been taking my daughter's eye pretests by then. When they were done having their personal side conversations, we were finally called back. Found it interesting, I was asked to turn on and off the lights. Typically I don't mind helping out someone whose job I'm not getting paid for; yet, I was highly frustrated, irritated and bothered by now. When the pretests were done, we were asked to wait in the lobby again for the doc. Standard procedure for them. He was the best in the house. When the exam was done, he took us to the lobby and told us to wait a little bit for someone to check us out. He was very pleasant. We stood there while 2 others were in their own world and avoiding to acknowledge us which also meant avoiding doing their job while providing customer service. Time was ticking without anyone caring or assisting us while I'm progressively and justifiably becoming highly disappointed. As others were getting attended, I finally stated I have to check out and made it clear from the beginning we didn't need to shop for lenses at this time. Hence, I was unsure why the front desk couldn't easily do a simple check out. The one sales associate who was sitting there in her own world had to be asked to assist us as she hesitantly did so. Finally, we were done. I do not recommend this location to the worst person in the world if such exists. Except for the doctor, this location has negative quality people working with negative customer service. Nothing has changed since our last visit over a year ago. Not sure how this location is still standing. Should have reviewed them last year and changed companies. Be assured we will be changing companies next year. She did everything possible to accommodate us and very polite. I heard her try to apologize to this woman, but the woman acted so immature and turned her back on the receptionist and went off on a rant of her not acknowledging her! She explained she was working, on getting my children in and this woman is nothing but an attention seeker and doesn't understand what this woman was doing for me. She also is not telling the truth. Terrible customer service and rude personnel. After waiting over 1/2 hour past my appointment I went up to the counter to question the delay and the lady behind the counter was so busy looking at her phone and talking to the optometrist, I wasn't even acknowledged. REALLY? I finally spoke up to ask how much longer I would have to wait. The optometrist said it would be soon. Then a mother walked in with her 2 children and went ahead of me. When I finally met with the optometrist and he started to set me up for the exam but he never bothered to introduce himself so I then asked for his name. Afterwards I worked with a gal on pricing for the glasses etc. I kept telling her I did not have much time and had to leave soon for another appt. It took forever and finally had to leave without making a purchase. I asked for a breakdown of everything but was told she couldn't give me one. No glasses and it's time to leave. IT WAS A TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE! I will say that the African-American gentleman was very nice and accommodating. I believe he was the store manager and if it wasn't for him I wouldn't have bothered to wait so long. I was there about 2 hours, left and won't be going back. Buyers beware.... read more

Every time you call and speak to someone different, they have different policies and rules. The staff was so horrible to my wife they brought her to tears. She needed a simple vision test and a cornea reading to follow up on a procedure done out of town. initially over the phone they say it would be no problem. Upon arrival, after doing the paperwork they notified her they could not do the procedure and we left. The problem? While my wife was back in the exam room she could hear the doctor and the staff through the door, they were insulting, humiliating, and berating her for no apparent reason, all while they thought she couldn't hear. Simply because they were not the right place to do the procedure. I have no idea the quality of the doctors but their professionalism is incredibly terrible. Went with my client for their eye exam and appointment time was 1:45pm we didn't get seen until after 3:00 pm wasn't done until 4:30. My client is also on oxygen 24/7 and in a mobilized scooter which she can not be in too long with out having muscle/ back pain. But we waited patiently and politely. Then when our ride came which was scheduled for 3:15pm which would of been plenty of time. We told them we have to hurry. It's medical transport so there isn't much we can do but catch our ride. Well the lady helping us with billing made a comment to a fellow employee I have to hurry because they are in a hurry. Very rude people working up front . I might add doctor was reasonable and respectful, if you can get past the waiting time and dirty looks with smart remarks than go for it. I will not ever go there for myself. I went to them a year ago and they said they take the insurance that I had. I left with a receipt that had a zero balance, what a idiot I am. A year later I receive a bill for the total balance. Lesson learned they new it was VSP and out of network and when I called to make the appointment or I would not have gone there .I asked if they take VSP on the phone ,they told me they take that insurance. read more

We have been with nationwide vision about the same amount of years since we moved here, being a total of eight going on nine years. We just recently heard from the location on baseline and ellesworth that this new location opened up, and we were thrilled to find something a lot closer to home. Today my children had an appointment at 3 'o clock this afternoon, and while the receptionist were very friendly and accommodating; their optometrist Bradley Bywater, was not. One would usually complain about little things, but he was not courteous at all with my husband, it was his first time taking the kids, and left just a poor taste in his mouth. As much as we were looking forward to coming to this location, we'll be scheduling all future appointments at our original location. We'd rather travel and get good service, than settle for anything less. read more

My family followed Dr. Bywater and assistant manager Damon to the San Tan Valley location from Chandler due to their professionalism, respect and attention to detail. I am baffled by the other reviews, but I just wanted to let people know that they are great at what they do. My boys and I all wear contacts and glasses so our appointments are yearly and never during the same months, so we visit every 3 months or so. Damon does an amazing job of explaining everything to me, he goes above and beyond when the items arrive, he calls us personally, and most recently, my son had already left for College, so Damon had the glasses packaged and he went next door to UPS and shipped them at no additional cost. That is above and beyond. Anytime I have a question, or my teenage sons have a question, We are given very polite and respectful responses by Damon. He never talks down to us, or assumes that we know what he means. My boys and I drive all the way from SE Chandler for their professional service and attention to detail. If I am unable to keep my appointment due to traffic congestion, or if I am a bit late; I am never made to feel guilty, they have never looked at us with disgust, or annoyance. They always great us, and make us feel welcomed. I am all about accountability for all parties involved. I am not perfect, or easy to please. I demand respectfulness and professionalism for everyone I encounter; that is how I was raised. I treat people the way I would like to be treated. I have never had to raise my voice to be heard at Nationwide. I ask tough questions and I get respectful, insightful answers. My most recent visit was July 2nd, and prior to that, June and May of 2016. No problems with any of my visits, nor did I observe anyone else complaining, being disrespected, or being talked rudely to. I was there about 90 minutes minimum with each visit. read more
