Large portions, a self-serve BBQ sauce station, and plenty of beers and NA options to choose from make for a great visit. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating. Awesome patio space, great for groups. The brisket and tri-tip were the shining stars here. Tender, juicy, and meaty. Good cuts of meat, and it's clear they put time into their processes. Really enjoyed both of their BBQ sauces, and the baked potato was also very well done. Pretty good service. Order at the counter, and they bring it out to you. Bus your own table; I'm sure it helps keep prices down. My dad said he wanted to come back here every day of our vacation. Certainly worth checking out!

Fair portion, not a belly buster. Good flavors on the meat. The beans are seasoned with chili powder. I asked the cashier if the cornbread was made in-house, "Ah, I dont think so". The garlic bread was good though. Order at the counter, take a seat, they call your name. Good, jaming blues on the speakers. Start to finish 45 minutes. Not packed but people were constantly tricked in. The tri-tip cuts are thick so you have to saw through those. Brisket was fall apart tender. Mac n cheese was fine, but not gooey. The mint at the end is a nice touch. Oh, good beer selection!

We arrived on a Saturday early evening for dinner recently. Old City Hall Restaurant is located in a nice area in beautiful downtown Gilroy. Parking is accessible along the streets. The restaurant use to serve as Gilroy's old courthouse and jail. It has been transformed into a majestic and historic restaurant building. The decor is modern and traditional. Plenty of tables are available for dine in downstairs. There is a full bar with plenty of bar stools. The lovely patio looks inviting and spacious. Unfortunately I was not able to see the upstairs dining area. We ordered a Chicken Cordon Bleu with a Caesar salad and baked potato, Scallops and Prawns with a house salad and coleslaw, crème brûlée, and a couple of happy hour drinks of local IPA and house Chardonnay. Everything was delicious. My Chicken Cordon Bleu was flavorful and the combination of the cream sauce, cheese, ham, and chicken all went well together. The wifey said her Scallops and Prawns was scrumptious and the tropical salsa was a delightful complement. Her only gripe was that the portions did not match the price point of the dish. The crème brûlée was delectable and the perfect dessert to complement a wonderful 3 course meal. Overall we enjoyed our experience at Old City Hall Restaurant. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The vibe was bustling and inviting. Daily happy hour is always a nice touch. We will come back to try other dishes especially the burgers.

Walking in the lady greets you and allows you to select your own seat. It isn't packed at all. The waitress is very kind. My bf ordered the chili verde burrito and I ordered the chicken bacon sandwich. Our food was absolutely amazing. The chili verde had the softest meat I've ever had (yes, I stole some off his plate!). The flavors were very authentic, the colors vibrante and the taste was like homemade with love. My chicken sandwich also didn't disappoint. I decided on a salad so can't rate any fries. The chicken was delicious perfectly seasoned and not dry AT ALL. We also ordered the chips and guacamole that was the best I've had anywhere. Extremely fresh feels like it was made to order. We drove home and enjoyed our large amount of left overs (because the portions are large) for dinner and it was still amazing!!! We will be back just to visit Dany's!

Dany's offers basic breakfast and lunch options- with some interesting daily specials. I have been here a few times now ,and ordered the same thing both times. I opted for the chile verde and eggs with country potatoes and beans. Not the best chile verde I have ever tried , but not bad. I like the double carb combo with the beans and potatoes. I order my eggs over medium to get the yolk blended in there with the chile verde. My breakfast including tip came out to about 25.00. I feel like this place is a little pricey for a breakfast spot , but it is a step up from Denny's. I'll be back , but will have a hard time ordering something new as I know what to expect from the chile verde breakfast.

Getting into my hotel I see this black bear dinner and was like, what the hell, so I come in and this places looks great. I like the country feel and atmosphere of this place. I had order the black salmon dinner, with a soup and corn bread. This salmon was cooked really well and I love the flavors of the seasonings. The soft boil vegetables were seasoned too and that was a nice touch that goes with the salmon, also, can't forget about the country gravy mashed potatoes yummy! The gentleman that has served me has been nothing but welcoming and double checking when it came to my order! I can't stress it enough when other attendees don't make sure you have your order right. I wanna give my praise to my server J.C., as I am typing this he still checks on me if I need anything else. Plus, he waiting till I was done chewing before he asked me anything. That's a plus for me I will be coming back here everytime I come up here from orange county! Also i wanna give thanks to the cook who made my food! Thank you for a great dinner!

I looked it up, it's one of those meals that's pre-portioned and reheated on-site1. Corn on the cob was ok, again, not fresh, was dry and not flavorful. Muffin tasted prepackaged, like it was frozen and was reheated. Everyone else got food that looked great. Wife got pot roast, my son got a cheeseburger that looked great. Pie was no different. Crust was not fresh, but chewy. Apples canned, not fresh. I'm not sure what happens to black bear diner. It used to be fresh, wholesome and flavorful. Service: It's under new ownership and I can tell. Service was ok. It was slow for 4th of July, but the server was ok, not as good as our last visit. Ambiance: Typical black bear diner: clean, with standard decor. As another drawback to new management, they don't have a liquor license. Not a big deal to some, but just pointing it out.
