We rented Elk Haven spur of the moment, and this has been a fantastic trip. Check in was easy, we got our key and a map to the road and we were off. We have a Toyota Camry and the gravel road was a wee bit tricky. I think we lucked out that it hasn't rained in some time. You probably want something with some ground clearance. The cabin is as described and beautiful. It's secluded, homey, and everything I was looking for. We haven't noticed any bugs in the cabin, but lots outside. The hot tub is nice, but it's a little too warm out to use it. Do bring water, the water smells like blood to my girlfriend and I, and I wouldn't drink it. We will definitely be back. read more

My boyfriend had originally booked a different cabin for a winter weekend get away and upon arrival, we were told that the cabin we had booked was inaccessible. we were told that this would be a great alternative option with easier access and at first we're not convinced. But, we're beyond impressed. this is a cozy little cottage with a rustic vibe, which is what we wanted. we wanted the "secluded cabin" feel rather than a modern house vibe. Took a chance on this cabin, Elk Haven managed by NBC Co. despite the mixed reviews I read. It most certainly needs a deep clean. It felt like we were living amongst the filth of strangers the entire time. Fire place was not functional, hot tub had mildew so we didn't feel comfortable using it. Since most of the reviews I have found for this company seem to be negative.. and a few years old... I was kinda nervous to see what we were getting into. I was more than pleasantly surprised! My boyfriend and I spend this past weekend in "Rustic Romance," complete with a full kitchen, fireplace, hot tub, etc. Good one bedroom and similar prices to most cabins in the area. Perfect for relaxing after miles and miles of hiking (seriously, never knew how much I would actually NEED a hot tub.) But the cabin was quaint and perfect for what we needed: a cozy place to crash, cook some food, and enjoy the views. The people at the front desk were very nice and helpful. One and only qualm with this place: They didn't immediately inform us of checkout guidelines; I had to ask. They said just leave the key on the table, and then as an afterthought, gave us a list of checkout instructions. No problem, I've stayed in cabins before and knew the typical protocol, but glad I asked and saved us some potential fines. The cabin was very clean. This is what bothers me about most of the reviews I've read... you're staying in the woods. There are gonna be bugs and critters. Not into bugs and mice? Then why are you staying in the woods? We left some trail mix on the counter and a mouse got in it... totally our fault, not the cabin company's. That's part of the experience of getting a cabin in the mountains. But as far as the utilities, linens, etc. are concerned, everything was very clean and ready for us upon arrival. Also, each of the cabins are owned privately by different people who then rent them out through the cabin company. Make sure you read the descriptions of the cabin and ask about the ones you are interested in before you book. All of the amenities are not the same. BED BUGS!!! Over the course of our 4 night stay we kept waking up with more bites in the classic bed bug pattern, two or three bites in a row all over our face, neck, and arms. We decided to leave a night early because we couldn't handle it anymore and requested a refund for that last night, but were dismissively told "it's probably just chiggers and you're welcome to finish out your stay." Um, no?! I get that bed bugs are an inevitability of the hospitality industry, but they refused to acknowledge and fix the problem! How many people staying there before and after us are getting bed bugs too because they just ignored it? Besides the bed bugs? With a cabin you expect a certain...jankiness? And this fit the bill - cabinets and doors didn't close properly, a sunken couch, couldn't open the curtains without the curtain rod falling apart, the "stocked kitchen" came with a single fork but no other eating cutlery. So not great, but not unexpected. But again, BED BUGS!!! read more

My husband and I rented sycamore place. The cabin itself was beautiful. the hot tub was great. The beds were super hard like sleeping on the floor, but something we could live with for a couple nights. our only issue was that mice kept coming into our cabin. No food was out or anything to attract them they just kept coming up through the floor vents. We killed the first one we saw and then tried to spend as much time out of the cabin as possible even though we just wanted to relax. The mice have left poop in all the cabinets, and are very aggressive at night, eating through sealed plastic and foil to get to food. And THE SMOKE DETECTORS HAVE NO BATTERIES... the management isn't just sloppy, they're reckless and dangerous. The cabin was like being on a movie set... things look OK at a glance or in a photograph, but once you tried interacting with anything, nothing actually worked. There's a phone in the living room... connected to no phone line. There's a TV... but the batteries in the remote are dead. The main light and fan in the living room don't work at all, and the living room lamp doesn't have a switch; in the dining room, the light flickers incessantly. There's not enough seating in the living room, the dining room table bench has a bum leg, and there are no blinds on any of the windows, including the full-length window by the shower. There's old underwear left on the water heater. We called the office for help with some of these issues... they were worse than useless. Stay elsewhere. read more

Our cabin, The Sycamore, was nice. Unfortunately, the coffee pot, floors, and "dog bed" aka bedspread in one of the rooms, wasn't clean. We didn't bring a dog and didn't care for smelling one. We had a great cabin, and have reserved it for another trip. The rental company was simple, polite, and easy to deal with EXCEPT that we were required to drive the extra 12 miles from the cabin to their office to "pick up" the key even though the cabin had a combination lock. I emailed Natural Bridge Realty about our trip but received no reply. That about sums up our experience there. Echo Falls Cabin was not in proper condition to fully enjoy our visit. It was very clear that it had not been cleaned recently due to dozens of dead bugs on the floor, cobwebs in the corners, smashed beer cans littered outside, and broken glass scattered across the back deck so that we could not view the waterfall. We called maintenance almost immediately due to very weak water pressure. The man who helped us was very nice. However, once he left, it still took us over an hour to fill up the tub. We stopped by the office Saturday but no one was in, so we then called about the water, which was orange. The strong stains on the sink, toilet, shower, and tub were already off - putting, but exiting the tub and shower orange looking like we just got spray tans was ridiculous. We were assured that that was normal for the area. After the weekend, we felt like we were still dirty from the trash, bugs, and unfiltered water all weekend. Please save your money and your time and stay elsewhere! read more

We have rented from this company on several occasions and have always received prompt and courteous service. Our most recent stay was un June at Sunday Silence, a modest yet comfortable cabin in the Cliffview area. We had rented this cabin before and were pleased enough to rent the same one again. The cabin is in a relatively secluded area, the back porch is nice, and the hot tub was in good working order. The hot tub is somewhat close to the road, but this doesn't bother us since the road sees little traffic and there is fencing blocking the view from the road. A few days after returning home, we couldn't find our Kindle Fire. We assumed we probably left it at the cabin, but since we really didn't have any personal information on it (primarily used for games and books), we just wrote it off as a loss. We were pleased to be contacted by the NB Cabin staff a few days later saying they had a Kindle and believed it may be ours. After confirming, they mailed it to us. I'll have no reservations (no pun intended) about renting from them again. read more

I had the worst experience booking this place. Booked it, decided I needed to cancel and upgrade. The ladies that man the phone told me I could not cancel on a holiday weekend. One week later they cancelled my reservation and did not notify me. I found out 2 weeks before my trip! I had to make cabin reservations at two different cabins for my stay. While we had a relaxing visit to Natural Bridge over the weekend (May 17-20, 2019), the cabin we rented was seriously sub-par. Called "Echo Falls" and managed by Natural Bridge Cabin Company, this place was nowhere near the pleasant place they painted in their online ads for it. The place was clean, the TV/internet worked fine, they had adequate dishes/housewares, but the rest of it..... It uses well water, which was brown...didn't want to bathe in it, but had no choice, forget using the jacuzzi tub...the toilets and tub all have ugly orange/brown stains in them and I am positive my peeing has more water pressure than that shower...........the lake shown in front of the cabin in the online photos has been empty for a LONG time (now overlooks a mudhole) and we weren't notified till we signed the ppwk.........it's a winding 7-8 min drive up/down huge hills and narrow turn on a gravel road to even get to it off the main road, our car took a beating...........they didn't even keep a salt/pepper shaker set in the place.....a dozen or more carpenter bees are eating the place bit by bit.....the refrigerator door was filthy and the inside leaked water all over anything you put in there. It was very secluded, but no chance we use that rental company again......they didn't lie about anything, but they held back a lot of facts about what you are renting. read more

Great experience. Beautiful cabins. You're in a cabin in the woods... there will be bugs. Accept that and you'll do great. We stayed at Cait's Cabin. The drive was quite steep bit it was nicely secluded from the road and traffic but within 3-5 minutes of Nada Tunnel and 15-20 minutes from Natural Bridge. We weren't in a vehicle with 4-wheel drive but would have liked to have one since the driveway was steep and wet that day. If dry it may not be too difficult to climb. Stocked kitchen, fire pit, fireplace, 1 king bedroom downstairs, 2 queens in a loft. Fold out couch. 1 bathroom. Little dining area inside so plan to eat outside or in the living room if you have more than a couple people. Evidence of a mouse. Again, expected in an isolated cabin that isn't occupied daily. Otherwise very clean and comfortable. Would definitely stay there again. read more

Don't waste your money. Our cabin was in shambles. Wasps nest everywhere(6+) we had to buy wasp spray for. NO running water by our second day. Aka we can't even flush the toilet. Drawers that are broken, holes in the doors, the shower handle falls off, light bulbs are burnt out, and no soap, and only one small outside trash can (my trash can at home is larger then this) I've booked with them before and it was fine so their cabins are either nice or absolute shit. We rented Ray's Dream but, poor Ray. No one respects the cabin he built for his wife. The place was generally dirty. I'm from the country myself, so I understand mice, but I also know that having mice means someone has to be extra vigilant about cleaning the mouse droppings out of the kitchen drawers. The top of the fridge hadn't been cleaned since Trump took office and we didn't dare pull down one of the games available there. The upstairs shower was rimmed with mold and we left our autograph in the dust in the closet. We found the cabin to be unfriendly for visitors. With two full baths and a hot tub, a lot of towels get used but there are exactly zero places to hang a wet towel. I could find thirty places to put a book or peg. There are limited surfaces in the bedrooms to put luggage and clothing. One closet has no rod in it. The cabin sleeps six but has a dining furniture for only four. The living room has two sleek sofas made for a doctor's office waiting room. They are extremely uncomfortable and discourage hanging out in the common area. The kitchen had no dish towels and no pitcher, and only one bathroom had soap. The wall behind the trash can is evidence that former guest are bad shots and current housekeepers don't look to hard for the dirty spots. Overall, Ray's Dream needs a grand inspection by a knowing eye. The linens in the upstairs bedroom are not just outdated and pilled from use, there is a rip in the corner of the fitted sheet. One chandelier has only four of nine bulbs glowing. Knotholes and gaps in the logs are to be expected but they are currently filled with (I wouldn't lie!!!) with toilet paper and aluminum foil! The hot tub leaks and has no floater to disperse chlorine to keep the water fresh. Overall, we were disappointed with our stay at Ray's Dream. I cannot recommend it to other visitors. read more

My first impression of the Cumberland Cabin was good, however it did go downhill from there. We did not feel very secure that both outside doors seemed to have their chain locks ripped off. Also, the same with the bedrooms, the hook and eye locks were both missing the "eyes". But what concerned me was when getting up the next morning, all my dogs dry food was gone from his bowl. It was a lot of food and I know she did not eat it. I must say I started looking closer and under my blanket and on my sheets, was rat/mouse poop. I was totally grossed out that I had slept with that all night. When I told the office, I was told they have been having a problem all summer and gave me clean sheets. I would have thought a "problem all summer" justified a pest control company to fix. I would not stay in their cabins again. Live and learn. read more

We stayed at the Mountain Laurel cabin, and the physical structure of the cabin was fine, but everything inside of the cabin was a liiiitle bit broken. The gas fireplace ran out of LP gas during our first hour using it. We called the office and negotiated for a while, and the next day they brought us a few more sips of LP...enough to get a couple more hours of heat. There was no hot water going to the shower, which was odd because the kitchen sink had hot water, but not the shower. The temperature knob on the stove wasn't attached. so cooking was an adventure. The chairs were broken. And when we arrived, the yard was littered with dozens of empty beer cans. Yes, we picked them up. The beds were comfortable enough, and really, we were there to be outside and the scenery was gorgeous. But a hot shower would have been great after a day of hiking. read more

Serenity Point Cabin was nice, with great view. There was mold in the dishwasher(we couldn't use) and mold in the washing machine(we did use that because you have to wash your towels before you leave). Minimal paper towels, toilet paper, dishwashing soap provided, so bring extra. Also, required to bring your own trash to their check out area(you have to drive a few miles there)! Who does that? Last, there are roaches, so be careful with your stuff and check everything when you return home. read more

I personally want to start off by saying I wanted to give two stars but my wife was a bit more generous and asked me to give three; the cabin being reviewed is the Lover's Landing cabin. We started off arriving at the Natural Bridge Cabin Company office and was greeted in a very helpful and friendly manner, received the key and was informed "if you have any problems just call the number on the paperwork." We found the cabin with minimal difficulty but being that I was driving a compact car the steep and VERY narrow hill was a bit intimidating and thankfully I didn't encounter any oncoming traffic because there would've been nowhere to pull over. Once we found our cabin's winding driveway we wondered how anyone driving a vehicle any larger than ours could navigate it because I barely had room to turn around and anything larger would have to drive down in reverse. I have to admit that viewing the cabin from the outside was less than impressive; the "grill" (I use quotation marks because it was a "grill" in the loosest sense of the word") was little more than a dirty, crusty old hot plate on wheels and upon seeing all the leftover food fused to the inside were too scared of it to use it. The hot-tub was equally awe inspiring for all the wrong reasons and reminded me more of a over grown Petrie dish more than anything else...needless to say we didn't brave using it as well. The inside of the cabin was more of a pleasant surprise upon first impression...and it does have the potential to be a nice place...but...on closer inspection is in SERIOUS need to be cleaned. Spider webs hanging off easily accessed light fixtures, copious amounts of dust and insect corpses in obvious view and the cabin had plentiful amounts of yellow-jackets INSIDE the cabin. Granted the brochure states to be aware that you're in the wilderness and will encounter various animals and insects...but I'm reasonably certain that that doesn't mean that wasps have ready access to land on the end of your toothbrush while you are in the process of brushing your teeth. Another amenity listed by the cabin is satellite television...well it DOES have a satellite and it DOES have a television but upon being turned on could never find a signal. We made several failed attempts to call the office to address the satellite television and insect problems. Eventually my wife did talk to the same woman who 24 hours earlier stated to "call if you have any problems"...as the same person then stated that the leaves in the trees were to blame for not receiving a signal and even IF we were to maybe get a signal there is little chance of keeping it. Now to the best of my understanding the trees are always present so by that it means you will never receive a television signal as long as you stay there. As far as the yellow-jacket problem goes her response was "do you have any bug spray?"...yes...I luckily keep a can of RAID in my pocket for just such an emergency! ...Well being that "call if you need anything" can apparently be translated to "call if you need to vent but we have your money and you're on your own" we had to drive 10 miles down the road to the nearest grocery store to buy bug-spray and food since grilling out was now out of the question. The whirlpool tub was nice...but the plug to the tub had a hole in it and I had to wrap it in part of a plastic shopping bag to make it functional (...the walls in the bathroom had mold growing in one corner...) All this being said the cost of the cabin did not equal the nonexistent customer service and lack of upkeep of what should be and could be a very nice getaway cabin. My wife and I enjoyed our time at Natural Bridge State Park and would like to make plans for a return trip eventually...but when we do we will be staying elsewhere. read more

Negative stars if possible. Looked forward to a nice get away and didn't realize the cabin I was in was infested with bed bugs. Never again. They were gracious enough to give my money back but they did not want to pay any extra of the fees that it took me to have my clothes and belongings dry cleaned and because of fear of carrying them home I was out quite a bit of time and money having to throw away lots of my stuff away. Very very disappointed. On top of that they suggested to give me another cabin which would have meant if I did have any on my stuff it would have been carried to that cabin so apparently their knowledge of bed bugs is to say the least minimal. read more

We called weeks in advance to reserve a primitive camping site at the campground. We requested a spot that want too close to other campers to which we were told "Yes, I have just the spot. It's down by the creek. It's nice and private." We also said that we only wanted to reserve for two night (Friday and Saturday). His response was "Well, one boss said it's a three night minimum but the other boss said to just make money. I'll give you the two nights, $15 a night." This statement should have been a clue to us but we just took it as getting a good deal. We show up on Friday evening and we were shocked at what we found. The campground is behind the rest area. There's seriously a billboard in the campground. You can see the rest area and cars passing on the highway. The attendant insisted on charging us for the full three nights. Then pointed us towards our "private" campsite which was next to the driveway of a mobile home. We had two other camper groups less than 10 feet away who were upset that we had been placed so close to them. I'm sure they had been told the same spill about having a private spot too. Since it was a holiday weekend, we were afraid that we wouldn't be able to find an opening at a different campground but the was no way I was going to waste our trip in this dump. We took the risk, took the $45 loss and was able to secure a fantastic spot at The Koomer Ridge Campground. No joke people. If you're wanting to camp... go someplace else. This is a dump! read more

Was looking forward to a nice little get away, this was anything but! We checked into a cabin on a Wednesday for 2 nights. Upon settling in the cabin looked VERY dated and dingy, but we were going to make the best of it. It was a bit muggy, so we adjusted the air and set off on to do some trailing. When we got back to the cabin around 6:30, it was still just as muggy. I called the cabin company and told them, she was supposed to get in touch with someone and call me back (one of many times I have heard this promise)! We called them back at 6:50 knowing they closed at 7. She stated that they were unable to get someone out that night, and that it was likely froze up, for us to turn it off for a few hours!! Was no offer to move us, mind you this is the middle of August! We were up all through the night trying it, letting it run and shutting it back off, no relief! Someone showed up around 10 the next morning and got it working, we were exhausted from the heat and did not want to chance staying and the unit breaking down again, with good reason since they did not offer to move us! It has been a pain to deal with them, as their owner seems to hide behind his employees. I have called 4 different times and was given the same generic answer each and every time of "I will talk to the owner and get back with you"! Don't hold your breath on that, as I have yet to be called back one time! This company really lacks in customer service! Staff was nice...WHEN you could get ahold of them. This was a poorly run place. Additionally, the cabin was extremely run down. This is what was wrong: he hot tub had only half working jets, I could not get the fireplace to work, the jacuzzi tub upstairs would not turn on at all, the ceiling fan in the living room won't turn on, the lights on the outside stairs were out and it was a dangerous walk in the dark, the balcony railing is quite unstable and a danger, there was hair in the jacuzzi tub, I pulled out a blanket from the cupboard and it reeked of wet, dirty dog, and the towels were like drying with sandpaper. I stayed in Swiss Family Robinson in the campground PET FRIENDLY!! I will say at 1st I was worried after seeing reviews and after I rented this cabin getting a call back that it was rented early.. But they were willing to put me in a nicer cabin things got better after a call that they found a way to put me in my cabin of choice by the lake :) I did not receive Email conformation but went with high hopes and was presently surprised. Wonda and I think his name was mandell were very helpful and nice Wonda even gave me her personal cell for any issues I may have. The cabin was on top of an old barn and my kids and I found that neat. I was worried at 1st glance back door and steeps were in need of love but inside was nice it could use some updates on furniture but sheets were clean and wash cloths were also.. once I got rid of some some dust on the counters it was good I traveled with my dog and kids so this was expected by me at a pet friendly cabin I know Im in the woods and its not 5 star so I understood some dust and bugs and pet hair. Only major issue was wasp they had taken over but the staff gave us spray and came down to help remove them from the hot tub and inside cabin and would have moved us if we wanted. .All in all we enjoyed fishing and hiking at the park also camp had a pond and the host were very friendly they had a little store to get fire wood snacks and drinks and not over priced kids loved they had basket ball and horse shoes AND THEY ARE VERY PET FRIENDLY!!!!!!!!!! read more

My friends and I from Chicago had a wonderful stay with Natural Bridge Cabin Company over Thanksgiving. We were so happy to gather with our pals for a few days of rock climbing, big dinners, and relaxed fun- with little to no phone service and the great outdoors. NBCC provided us with a great cabin- clean, comfortable, and well equipped for our big weekend of cooking. Being able to bring our dog was certainly a plus and planning for the trip was easy as pie- NBCC was more than happy to make sure we had solid directions to the cabin and that we had all the info we needed about the area. I know I was most happy with the warmth of the cabin- the fireplace and the Jacuzzi made coming back from climbing super appealing. Last, but not least, my husband left his favorite shirt hanging behind the door of the master bedroom when we left. I think we were to Indianapolis before we realized our mistake, but it only took a phone call to make sure NBCC would send his beloved shirt back to us. We received it just the other day- I cannot tell you how happy you made us! I am sure future trips will be planned and I am certain we will look to NBCC. Thanks again! read more

Echoing the previous review, I was nervous when I read the reviews after booking with this company. My boyfriend and I along with another couple were spending the weekend getting in touch with the great outdoors. The booking process was easy and the person on the phones pretty pleasant. When we arrived, check in was fast and we were given suggestions for must see places to visit as well as detailed check out procedures. We stayed in the cabin called Elk Haven which was perfect for what we needed. Yes there were a few bugs and quirks about the place, but it was a CABIN in the woods and not a 5 star hotel room. The hot tub was great, everything was clean and it was nice to grill on the wrap around porch. We were staying in a pet friendly cabin so that we could bring our two pups with us. On the last day of our trip, one of my dogs got bored while we were out hiking and decided to eat the couch. I was terrified that this was going to be horrendous to take care of. We called the managers, who spoke to the owner of the cabin. They took care of everything including finding a used couch to replace the eaten one and making sure it was delivered. I just had to pay a very reasonable $75 for the couch. Whew! I would recommend this company to my friends and family. read more

My husband and I have stayed at various different cabin rentals in the southeast, and for the price ($150/night), we were expecting a clean, comfortable cabin for our memorial day weekend. The staff at check-in was friendly, helping us with directions that were very accurate and suggestions on where to buy forgotten items. We were happy with the location of the cabin upon pulling up, but that's where it ended. The stairs to the cabin were loose and in need of repair. When we opened the front door, the musty smell was almost overwhelming. We immediately had to open all of the doors and turn on the fan just to air the place out. There was dust on everything, and a layer of dead bugs on the floors that we cleaned up. While checking out the cooking utensils, we noticed rodent droppings in the cabinet holding the pots/pans/dish cleaning supplies. The porch was splintered and the railings were loose enough that had we brought a child, it wouldn't have been allowed outside. We were excited when booking to see that the cabin included a jet tub, but the disgusting stains on the bath mat and the overall dirty appearance of the tub was incentive enough for us to stay out for the duration of our romantic weekend away. Finally, the satellite bill must not have been paid, because for the first two nights we weren't able to watch tv without a reminder to go to dish.com and pay our bill. Luckily, we were more interested in a weekend of great hiking, which the area does provide. I was so disappointed to waste more than $400.00 on uncomfortable, unpleasant, and all around dirty lodging for our trip. I certainly will never stay there again, and recommend everyone else thinks twice before booking any of these cabins. read more

We stayed in the Woodshed cabin for what was to be an extended weekend. We left after two days and would have left sooner weather permitting. It was gross. All of the bedding was old, threadbare, torn and covered with bodily fluid stains as were the towels. There were no mattress or pillow covers and no blankets, despite 35 degree temps. The upstairs bathroom was infested with flies and one of the bedroom ceilings was duck taped to cover a huge hole. The stove was filthy with burner pans that have never been cleaned. We tried to use the grill and it was so rusted out that it fell apart while we were cooking so we ate no dinner. There are no closets, hooks or dressers so your clothes have to stay on the floor. There are no nightstands so cellphones or water glasses have to stay on the floor. The shower leaks and all tubs and sinks had hair in them. The exterior is in disrepair and the gutters were so full of leaves that water just poured out of them and made the deck extremely slippery. The sad part is this was the second property we checked into the same night. The first one was worse and we were moved!!!! I would never stay at another Natural Bridge Realty or Natural Bridge Cabin Company property. read more

First I will say Carol was very helpful in checking us in. I accidentally booked the wrong dates online, and we came a day early according to the reservation, which I didn't realize until we arrive. They accomodated us. Other positive is that the cabin is close to both the Gorge and Natural Bridges. Other than that, this was the worst cabin I've stayed in over 30 years of park visits. I realize there are "critters" in the woods, but does that mean I should expect mouse droppings in the pots and pans too?! It is obvious that the owner of these 4 cabins takes no care of or pride in them. Sycamore place was disgustingly dirty and outdated. Cabin reaked of mold upon opening the door, heaps of dust all over and cobwebs and dust bunnies in corners, on lamp shapes and ceiling fan. Bedspreads torn and thread bare, shower curtain stained and moldy, soap scum floating in the 3 inches of water I stood in while taking a shower. Oh, and hot water for about 2 mins only! Couch damp, stained and crumbs all over. Would never stay here again!! read more

We wanted to stay in an affordable cabin near the Red River Gorge, and it had to have a hot tub. This place was great! We got in late and went right to the main office, which was easy to find once I found my bearings. The key and a welcome packet was waiting for us. They had drawn a map for us, and while it took a minute to figure out that some of the roads were in fact roads, we had no issue finding the place. We were amazed by the place. Spacious, equipped, and comfortable. Coffee maker, microwave, full-sized fridge, washer-dryer, eating utensils, a fireplace, and most important a hot tub tucked away. Fresh towels were waiting for us. It ended up being a perfect weekend for us as we went hiking through the gorge, drove to Lexington and checked out West 6th Brewery, and relaxed on the long porch. We did find it odd that the porch-side of the cabin did not have any lights at all, so we made a trip to Family Dollar and bought citronella candles for lights. The fire pit, which you can only get to by going around the building, doesn't have any natural sitting, so bring some chairs. The rafters above the bed, as well as some other places, could use a good dusting (we kept getting small amounts of dirt falling on the pillows from above). All in all it is a cabin and it is in the middle of the country, so if you're not used to having a little grit and are expecting a 5 star hotel posh experience, go to Vail, or stay in a bubble. But if you want to have a refreshing, relaxing time, this is your place. read more

So I have mixed feelings about the cabin. We had a great time while in Slade but it was mostly the way we made the best of what we had, I guess. We stayed at Morton cabin, was nice enough. The cabin is slightly worn down, prob could stand to use a little remodeling. The couch and bed were hard as rocks. The couch def lost its cushion and I wonder if the bed ever had any as the corners were hard and stiff. Thankfully we brought our own pillows and a couple throw blankets (for outside or sitting on the couch originally) as they ended up being our only actual blankets for bed. The wall heater was decent, kept it decently warm. The water heater sucked, for lack of a nicer way to put it. The cabin had an indoor jacuzzi, but there wasn't enough hot water to fill it. We froze in it each night, so that was very disappointing. The toilet wasn't stable, it felt like it leaned to one side. The whole cabin actually felt like it was slanted. The door frames were crooked and the doors dragged on the floor, leaving scrape marks. Only the bottom lock worked, which didn't feel so secure and we never left anything expensive in the cabin when we left. The pond was nice, lots of green algae which was kind gross but didn't kill it for us. We fished and only caught one each and it took a long time to catch those two, so I wonder how well stocked the pond is. Unless people don't release, like they are supposed to. Overall, the whole trip wasn't bad, despite lack of sleep and hot water. But I don't think I'd go back, unless they did remodels. read more
