I first reached out to Rojas construction for a fence job, which went great. The quality of…read morematerial used was superb, and the sturdiness of the construction was top notch. From here our needs grew exponentially in the form of building an actual in-law unit for a family member. I did interview several local construction companies, and I ended up selecting Rojas Construction for a few main factors. 1. The friendliness of the staff, 2. The level of communication - even on weekends! 3. Fair pricing. I didn't have any background with the ADU/in-law unit process and Israel, the owner of Rojas Construction, guided me throughout the entire journey. I didn't have an architect/engineer on hand so they recommended one to me. We finally settled on a 900 square foot design which would have taken approximately 2-3 months to build at the beginning of 2019, in normal circumstances. Then Covid hit and the permitting process with the local authorities slowed down to a trickle. Before the projected started, I got a quote for the job and did my due diligence by asking about any outliers that could impact the time, scale, and cost of the build. I was informed at the beginning that the plumbing and electrical aspects could be an issue as those need to be tied into our existing house. An analysis was not done prior so to no surprise, the previously mentioned topics came up. However, Israel handled the plumbing and electrical bumps with calm and control. Overall, the completed project was on target to our budget and without Covid happening would have been close to the deliverable timeframes. It's rare to say this in relation to a construction job, but Rojas Construction, especially Israel, Antonio, Pedro, Alvaro, Frank, and Lidia have been a pleasure to work with. The unit is beautiful and has exceeded expectations, my mom is happily living here now. See pictures attached.

The quote given for the project was fair compared to the going rates for projects of similar nature in our area. When we decided to go with AHS Landscaping for the project, Sergio communicated from the very beginning on the project plan in detail, and executed on the plan beautifully. All the materials were delivered on-time, and what needed to be picked up were picked up on-time. Sergio, Alberto and the rest of the team were very discreet and respectful of our privacy throughout the project, and spotlessly cleaned up after the project was completed. The quality of workmanship is superb! Throughout the project, Sergio was very responsive on the phone, text and email on project updates and developing situations. Leaves/debris were cleared, everything was cleaned up neatly, and the gutters were spotless when they were done. DO NOT get fooled by the lowball bid from Mad Pelican aka Avi Cooper. Anyway..... should have paid more attention before going down this road. Initial experience was bad. Sales guy came, was short with me, seems uninterested. Promised to give…read morea quote. Waited 4 days. Didn't get a reply. I wrote a bad review and moved on. Owner contacted me asking me to remove the review and he can help me out with my gate job. I needed someone to help fix a botched gate install job so agreed. The job was to remove two existing posts and replace it with new steel posts. The price quoted for TWO posts were not cheap. He seems to think he's doing me favor for labor only but it was not cheap. It cost the same amount as the full job by the other company for the full install. I'm OK with it because at that point I wanted a job to be done by someone who knows how to do the work. Of course, I found out the reason they're expensive because they SUBCONTRACT to another company that specializes in gates. Are they the expert or is the subcontractor the expert? Nevertheless, I waited a week and a half for the scheduled date. The night before, he text me and ask if I have two steel posts that they need. They quoted me a very high amount to fix two posts but does not provide the materials for the fix. These guys are supposed to be experts in STEEL gates but do not have the materials for STEEL. So what are they experts in? Subcontracting? Reselling gate install service? What irritates me is that he sprung this on me at the last moment the day before. Our conversation was that the quoted price includes labor and materials to fix except for the extra materials that are needed that are ALUMINUM which I purchased. The fact that he asked me to provide STEEL materials at the last possible moment was maybe because (a) he misquoted me or (b) the subcontractors wanted more money to do the work. In any case, I cancelled the job. I cannot trust a company that bait and switch. If you misquote, then you own the difference, not spring it on your customer at the last moment.
