If you have longer 4c hair and are tenderheaded do not recommend. Stylists are mean, heavy handed and will push relaxation onto you. I genuinely held the belief that salons were not for my kind of hair because of this experience. They continually guilted me for my hair texture and implied that my hair was the way it was because I didn't comb my silk press when I came literally 4-6 months later and had washed and restyled it many times before then. From my experience the 3 black stylists from blown away are leaps and bounds gentler, kinder, and more patient. If you have softer curl patterns or are not tender headed this is a great place to go. The hairstyles look good and they can get you in and out fast. If you're anything like me, I would run as fast as I can away. I hate this place. read more

I had been seeing this natural hair salon on my Facebook ads for some time. Decided to give it a try in March for my anniversary. Was serviced by what I could tell was a new stylist as she was asking questions and the owner came by to observe/provide guidance. That was completely fine with me as I'm not a frequent salon user. Everything went well and I scheduled another appointment for about 6-8 weeks out. I appeared to my scheduled appointment and the stylist was not present. When I mentioned my appointment to the stylist checking me in she was unsure who she was then after looking in the system shared the stylist I was scheduled with was no longer at the salon. I wasn't offered to be seen by another stylist at that time and thankfully it wasn't an immediate need to have my hair done. Instead I was offered to schedule an appointment in the future and I did so. However, I'm not sure if I'll be keeping the appointment after all. I'm not the biggest fan of how uncommunicative the salon was regarding this stylist leaving and her existing scheduled appointments. If I did need my hair done immediately, I would have been in a tough situation. read more

I just want to thank the entire staff at Sweethead for making me feel welcomed and truly taken care of. Everyone from the jump greeted me and had such uplifting spirits. I had a minor situation that could have turned everything upside down due to simple miscommunication. I needed a sew-in, but didn't have any bundles in hand. I know it sounds crazy, but I'm the middle of my blow out the owner had her lovely sister, Michelle, take me to the local beauty store in their company van to buy bundles. We came back to the salon ready to work on my hair. But to make matters worse I now had a time crunch to get this done for before a wedding. Lawanda, Kiara, and the rest of the team miraculously got me in and out of their salon on time and looking like a dream. I am surprised that no one has reviewed this place yet. It really is a hidden gem. I went to Sweethead naturals about 9 months ago for a cut, blow dry, and flat iron. At this point I had been natural for a little over 3 years. My hair was not in the best shape and I wanted a little guidance. My experience with hairdressers and natural hair had been awful thus far (check out my previous reviews). I am so glad that I found this place online. I had an appointment with the owner of the salon Lawanda Brooks. When I arrived I was immediately sent to the shampoo area. The woman who did my shampoo and conditioner asked if my hair had already been detangled. I told her that I suck at detangling and really hadn't done a good detangling in 2 years (yeah... I know. I know... ). She was patient and thorough during the process. I was worried that because of the poor condition of my hair and my laziness ( I hate detangling) that she would be ripping my hair through the comb. I am so thankful that this didn't happen. She shampooed and conditioned my hair while it was in sections ( I have a large mane). This allowed her to get rid of all the build up in my hair and slowly go through the detangling process. After the shampoo and conditioning, I met the owner for my cut, blow-dry and flat iron. What impressed me about this process was that no oils were used. I did not want my hair to burn under the hot flat iron and oil (something I think you see too often). Lawanda was great to work with. She answered all my questions, she asked me questions about my hair maintenance, and she gave me great advice. Before cutting my hair she showed me how much she was taking off before proceeding. When she was done, I almost cried. My hair was straight, beautiful, soft, and slick. Exactly what I had hoped for. This was by far one of my best hair salon experiences. It is important to note that this place has their own shampoo and conditioner line. They make everything at the shop. I loved it and bought some on my way out. While I may be leaving St. Louis I do plan on using their online shop to buy more of their products. Check out their website! I highly recommend going to this salon There are a lot of natural hair salons popping up but you need to be careful about who you let do your hair. You went through a long transitioning process or big cut. You finally love your hair texture, don't let an untested natural hairdresser undue all your handwork. Sweethead naturals straightened my natural hair, non-chemically, and without clipping my ends(which were horrible to say the least). Lol. I think they do a fantastic job!! All of the stylist are taught by the owner and she takes pride in what she does. I have not had a bad experience in any of her establishments yet and I don't believe I ever will. read more

TERRIBLE COMMUNICATION SKILLS!!! I made an appointment on March 10th online for the Florissant location with A Bianca Bridges... I even stated that my child was 4 years old ON THE SITE WHEN THE APPOINTMENT WAS MADE!!! Today is March 20th the day of my child's appointment and I get a call from the salon 30 minutes before my child's appointment stating " they can't service my child because she is too young" I then asked why I wasn't notified and I get the response " I was busy today and yesterday" THAT IS NOT MY PROBLEM! Ten days went by and I should have been told this ahead of time, not 30 minutes before an appointment! As a black business you all need to do better than that. You have wasted the time I could have been finding a better salon for my child to go to. This Is poor communication on your part. And Ms Bianca needs to learn to communicate better because " I was busy" Is a poor excuse as to why I was not told this for TEN DAYS!!! So glad I did not spend my money here. read more

I don't know where to begin but it's not too common in St. Louis to have a place that not only talks the talk but you know the rest. I have searched forever in St. Louis and I have not ever found anyone that truly specializes in natural hair.they may do natural hair but the products say otherwise. I normally fly out of Stl to get my hair done. Something made me google natural hair products and stylists in St. Louis and viola I got sweet naturals. I went there and immediately acknowledged by lawanda (which I didn't know that was her. On time which I love. What struck me is all the natural products being made there. I didn't have my hair done yet to see if it's a go but I immediately told friends about this place as it was local and they make their products.( talk the talk) I was soooo excited, even if it was a bad haircut I wouldn't care as there were natural products. I was taken back to the shampoo area by lawanda and she did an excellent old school scrub, massage scalp that is all that I needed. She informed me about getting a steam treatment, which was much needed.we spoke and she told me as to why she started her products, she worked with natural hair but her clients weren't seeing results. So she started making her own and noticed a difference in her clients hair. There is one other person that specializes in natural hair. I am glad that she weeds down the true and not true. So I can see why she is booked up a lot, it's only two of them. i told her about my ventures and how I stumbled upon her shop. I had some bad cut jobs so she had to cut, not trim but cut my hair to make it even. She oiled and twist my hair, sat me under the dryer. When I was done, of course I cried because my hair was pretty much shorter now than ever but I was thrilled that I have a true person that actually talks the talk. If I could leave 0 stars I would. I booked an appointment online for a consult a shampoo an end cut and complimentary flat twist. When I arrived at the salon no one was at the receptionist desk to greet me and when the stylist finally came out she tried to make me pay for an appointment I cancelled a YEAR AGO I understand cancellation policies but you should've charged my card when I first cancelled a year ago!! She then proceeded to say I can only get a consultation today because the website states all clients have to book a consult first which why I booked the consult and shampoo together! She also stated she would have to charge 100 dollars to detangle my hair which I didn't have a problem with. I was told to fill out a consult form only 45 minutes after my scheduled appointment only to be told by Lawanda she cannot do my hair today , mind you her schedule is very OPEN (I booked the night before and had my pick of the litter) I wish I would come back to this ghetto unprofessional establishment and I would never recommend coming to her salon. I don't even have this problem w the young hair doing girls. I will be blasting this business on every platform known to mankind. The disrespect I was treated with is completely unacceptable! After a long search to find a salon that would cut my toddlers curly hair, I found this gem of a place. The ladies were so patient with my son during his first hair cut, and patient with me in explaining the proper way to care for his beautiful curls. They were also able to recommend the right products and I could buy them in the shop- all natural and beautiful smelling.
