Home insurance had them come out to replace the pump for the pool. Spoke with Curtis and he sold us on the salt water generator. First time pool owner so this sounded great. Plus all the stars on Yelp. Communication was not great, finally Mike came out to do the install and changed a light for us (4 stars for him). Mike was really helpful with everything and answered all my questions. Flash forward 6 months and having issues with swg, texted Mike (said he no longer does pools) contacted Curtis, said I no idea who I am or what this is. Texted him invoice of the job. Finally figured out what's going on. Explained what the issue was and suggested doing these things. Said he'd try to get someone to look at it after no luck on my end. Asked when we can set up a date. Radio silence. Sent another text to ask when we can set up a date. Radio silence. Twenty one days later Curtis replies. Asking if I found help. I said this is unacceptable and no I did not find anyone. This is almost a slap in the face after not hearing from you. Have yet to hear anything back from him. It would have been nice to get a little more assistance since we did pay you a lot for it and it has a swg warranty. We still have issues with the SWG and Curtis is no where to be found. He splits his time or he says between here and the mainland so who knows who runs things on Oahu when he's not here. I would not recommend this company to anyone as communication with Curtis is horrendous. I can't vouch for any of the workers but dealing with Curtis deserves a one star if not 1/2 a star. read more

Pool Type: inground pool Problem: Tile started to pop off near the fill spout. After talking to around 5 different pool guys we ended up selecting Natural Salt Pools. Reasons why we chose them: - Extremely fast response - Licensed (I checked the BBB before hiring and he is in good standing) - Gave us some tips to do to check the reason why the tile was coming off so he could provide a fair price. Overall - The workmanship was great! -His employees are even better!! (sorry Curtis but you got some winners) They even cleaned my skimmer to make sure no grout would clog my pool pumps when I turn it on. - Clean up they went above and beyond my pool area looked better than when they started. -They also gave me detailed instructions on how the steps I should take to bring my pool back to normal. A while ago per Curtis suggestion we had our old DE filter replaced with a sand filter. And love it. Much easier to maintain than the DE filter. Recently the bearings on our pump went. Natural Salt was out to replace with in a day. In both cases Natural Salt was quick to reply and repair = peace of mind for the owner. In addition our pool is a salt pool with chlorinator that I maintain. Curtis has been a great resource on how to best do that. I have no hesitation for recommending Natural Salt Pools. read more

I honestly don't know why there are less than 5-star reviews for Natural Salt Pools ("NSP"). If you are looking for fast, professional, and friendly service, these are your guys. My pool was in bad condition. The plaster was falling off and my kids and I were getting strawberry stains (i.e., cuts) on the bottom of our feet every time we swam. The rough plaster was also rough on my okole when skinny dipping (ha ha; true!). Something needed to be done. Our pool sucked. I knew tile was expensive, but I also understood that it was longer-lasting. My concern was how long it would take. How much it would cost. Would we be without a pool for a few weeks, a few months? Reading some of the negative reviews on Yelp for various companies (including NSP), I honestly didn't know what to expect. We took a chance and contacted Curtis over the phone and within a few minutes he gave me a quote based on photographs of my pool and some basic information. He also told me it would take between 8-9 days to complete, weather permitting. His crew was at our home every day from 8 to 4 jamming. They got the job done right within the time period Curtis told me, and exactly for the amount he quoted us. Our family is super stoked. We have fallen back in love with the pool. And, yes, my okole appreciates the smooth tiles! Lol. So, in summary: 1. Curtis and his crew know what they are doing. They are hard workers and got the job done on time and within budget. 2. Not sure what happened to the peeps who had allegedly bad experiences with NSP. I saw one review where the reviewer was complaining about punchlist-type issues. Good grief; gimme a break! Anyone who knows anything about construction understands that there are always little nits that need to be addressed after the work is completed. Curtis and his crew are good, but they are not perfect. If you are paying thousands of dollars for something, you should at least invest some time to monitor the work. I did, pointed out some minor areas of concern that I had, and the crew made sure the issues were corrected. 3. If you hire them, treat the crew nicely. And buy them some pizza! I have video cameras on the outside of my house and would periodically check in during the day to monitor their progress. They were always cranking, and always cleaned up each day. I've had a pool a pool for 18 years and Natural salt pools is the first and only competent pool service company I've had during those 18 years. Curtis, the owner is extremely knowledgable regarding the chemical balance and for the first time, my pool is crystal clear and never needs to be shocked. Michael, the co-owner of Natural Salt Pools, just left my house on Diamond Head and I told him that I was going to write a really supportive review because I am just shocked at how quickly he fixed my SPA. I just read through only his bad reviews and I am left scratching my head because I honestly don't see how the guy could provide bad service. My spa pump stopped working a month ago. My current pool guy didn't seem interested in fixing the problem and told me to file a claim through American Home Shield. I have dealt with a few pool companies and inspectors over the years and always had different levels of frustration with their general lack of follow through, apathy, and the rip-off factor. Anyway, I was connected to Mike on Sunday. Monday morning he shows up to inspect the problem. First thing he does is find a massive leak due to the Spaghetti plumbing job done by the last guy. Instantly, he spends about 10 minutes with his saw and tool - redoing the entire pool room and the leak is completely stopped! He also quickly figures out that I need a new pump. He says he has the latest versions in stock. Tuesday morning he calls and says he can come and replace the pump. So now my spa is completely working within 2 days! Called in the problem on Sunday and completely fixed on Tuesday!?!!! All I paid for was the AHS deductible. I guess this is a plug for both AHS and Natural Salt Pools. No hassle. No negotiation. Problem fixed. He cleaned up nicely as well. I have never experienced this kind of service and support in my 8 years in Hawaii! Thanks Mike! P.S. Bought a house with pool 2 years ago. Plaster was pitted and on need of repair. Sellers had it painted to hide the plasters wear right before we closed. It looked great, but we knew what was underneath. Paint had finally worn off, back to crappy plaster that was eroding away. I got 4 estimates. A couple cheapies I wasn't sure if I should trust and 2 known company's. I went with Natural because Mike was pretty blunt about the situation. Could tell there was experience behind his talk and the company would stand behind the job. We went with Tile and converted to salt water. I highly recommend doing both, Mikes explanation of it all makes it pretty clear to see that's the way to go. Choosing color was hardest part, but I was able to go see some of his past pools in person.its been a month, all is great! We have a small pool but that doesn't stop it from having a part wear out or a pipe have a leak in a seam. Every time something happens I call Mike and he comes within a day, assesses the problem, explains it, gives options with pro and con, and as soon as I give the OK fixes it in a hurry and we don't ever have a problem with that particular thing again. Our ancient pool pump failed. I called Curtis and he guided our pump selection and worked with our home warranty plan. Michael came out and installed it after it arrived. Service was prompt, courteous and efficient. What really impressed me was months later, while we were selling the same house, the buyers' home inspector remarked that a ground wire was required. After speaking with Curtis, he let me know that the ground wire was internal and as such the inspector likely missed it. Although it was redundant and not required, Curtis still scheduled Michael to come out and install an external ground wire. Within 24hrs the ground was taken care of and that inspection item could be checked off! read more

So very disappointed in this company. Although they worked for us a couple of years they were years plagued with many, many issues. Mostly with employees not showing up for their scheduled cleaning appointments. I would call Curtis the owner to see what was going on and he always blamed the employees saying how he could not hire reliable help or blame us for the fact that his employees could not have access to our ridge (no workers on holidays allowed) on the days his workers needed to make up the dates or the fact that his workers were behind schedule. I never once received a courtesy phone call to let me know that his workers were unable to accommodate us on their regularly scheduled day/time. According to the reviews it seems the best service given to customers is to service higher paying jobs such as pump repairs or equipment replacements. Although this company is listed as a local company, per their local address, Curtis the owner/manager lives on the mainland and does all his work from there. If you are looking for some work done for your pool equipment this may be the company to go with but if you would like a regular pool service on a reliable schedule with a trusted local company, I would suggest you look elsewhere. read more

Consumer beware! See photos on page 2. We hired Natural Salt Pools to tile our plaster pool. I cannot begin to put into writing my disappointment. The installation took longer than expected, and could be considered careless in places. Tiles were snipped rather than cut, leaving very uneven seams. Entire tile sheets were replaced during installation because they were already beginning to come loose. I was convinced that hiring them for weekly maintenance would ensure that the chemistry was on point, and prolong the life of their work. Just over six months and 2 pool techs later, I had no other choice than to cancel service. The chlorine levels were admittedly low. The grout is coming apart, exposing the underside of tiles. Strings from the tile mesh can be seen protruding through the grout in many places. It appears that Curtis is managing the company from the mainland, and has no way to QC the work. His answer to most concerns is "measure us when things go wrong not when they're going well." He often included a sales pitch to convert to salt. The average weekly visit lasts only 15-20 minutes, which is supposed to include brushing, vacuuming, chemical balancing, and pump/filter cleaning. The techs are rushing to clean an unreasonable number of pools each day. Over all, a very frustrating and unpleasant experience. In response to your rebuttal: I questioned the validity of the invoice on 7/2 and only received a response from you on 12/29. Further proof of your lack of customer care. This is most definitely not the source of my complaints. The pictures give a clear view of the quality you provide. If you are content with the quality of services conveyed, then there should be no issue. You did not address the black growth, exposed mesh, or failing grout in your response. Instead, you attack my wife with an inaccurate quote. Shame on you! By the way, many would agree that every leaf should be cleaned from the pool before your tech leaves. I have had multiple phone conversations with you over the past 7 months trying to give you a chance to address issues with your service. You have always brushed off my concerns with a lesson and sales pitch on salt systems. I tried to give your company the benefit of the doubt. But the doubts continued to stack up. read more

He doesn't follow the manufacturer's installation and operation instructions. Thus the pool doesn't last as long as it should. Maybe this is how he continues to get additional business from you, sooner than you should need him to come back. Then when there is a problem, he doesn't respond, and avoids you after he has already received his thousands of dollars. Michael the technician followed up a scheduled appointment and repaired the pipes, stopped the leak, got the acid feeder back online and reset the system to run smoothly.
