Attached photos to go with my review from April. For some reason I couldn't edit my original review to add the photos on. The concrete looks fantastic. It's a beautiful satin sheen sooooo smooth and cool which is great in the heat and our dog loves it. We walk around bare foot as it just feels so nice. It's easy to take care of with just vacuum (roomba) and swiffer. You have to be ok with accepting the natural variations in your concrete which we were. We also had some staining on ours from the idiots who owned our condo before us and stuck down wood flooring directly to the floor using glue. We scraped the glue off but the glue left a stain and stains can't be polished out once they're deep and set in like ours. Jerry can only polish what's there he can't magic out the variations in the concrete, he'll explain all this to you before he accepts the job as he wants you to be 100% happy with the end result. We love our floor even the glue stains as it tells a story of the history of the place. I recommend Jerry and his team, they made a stressful remodel easier and I will forever be grateful for how understanding and professional he was throughout. He went above and beyond for me because he could see how stressed I was (coordinating a remodel, in torrential rain, during a pandemic, with a 2 month old baby, on an extremely short timeline) Jerry is also honest and true to his word. A check I paid Jerry bounced and he was very gracious about it, I wrote him another and both checks ended up going through somehow because of a banking error. I've been a real estate investor for over 10 years and have hired literally hundreds of handymen and contractors. I needed a concrete refinisher for a Downtown LA loft. The previous owner painted a turquoise epoxy finish on the concrete floors and I wanted it out to get back to the natural concrete. After calling 7 different companies both off Yelp and Angie's List, only 2 called me back (typical in the contracting world). Of the 2, I eventually hired Jerry to grind down the 1,600 sf of concrete floors. In a word, Jerry is passionate about his work. In my experience passionate contractors typically give you the highest quality of work for the best value. In my line of work, I'm not always looking for the cheapest guy, I'm looking for the best value. Jerry and his assistant spent 4 days (some of them on hands and knees) grinding out the epoxy paint. They got every square inch of the turquoise epoxy off the floor! Moreover, he was incredibly clean! After Jerry, I had several other contractors work on the unit. Those other contractors tracked dust into public hallways and into elevators (needless to say, the building manager was not happy with me). Not Jerry...he and his crew diligently wiped their feet before they stepped into any of the public spaces and walkways. And by far, his work created the most dust! Lastly, the trick to getting the best results when polishing floors is to sand/polish using successively finer grits. One starts with coarser grits and work your way to finer grits. To save time and money, some contractors will skip a grit or stop short of the appropriate final grit of the look you're trying to achieve. I kept checking on Jerry. He never skipped a grit even though he had to start with a very aggressive/coarse grit to remove the epoxy. I will definitely hire Jerry again in a heart beat if I ever need concrete or natural stone polished. He not only does floors, but also can to walls and countertops. read more

I went by the reviews on yelp to contact Jerry. He was very informative and helpful during the initial meeting. When he emailed a contract however, there was a shift. Mentioned about suing me if I don't pay in full, etc, but when I asked if he would also include in the contract that he do his best to tape off and protect baseboards, and that if after grinding a sample, either of us was not happy, I would just pay him $175 for the sample as he suggested, well, then he got defensive. At that point he got very offended and said his word was good, etc....and we would discuss when he arrived for the job. I was starting to get a bad feeling ... When he arrived in the morning.....I asked if he had something to cover my good floors (which are in the path of where he needed to go), he brought out some old hospital gowns.....I offered up a thick drop cloth I had because the thin cotton gown was very slippery on the floor, and the heavy drop cloth would be much safer....he got defensive and said "whos' going to slip?!!".....like of course it would be either of the three of us! His response was passive aggressive and sarcastic. Then when I asked if he would mind keeping the front door closed after he got in.....he said "I can't work like this..nick picking everything".. Nick-picking...really???? - Please offer me up an adequate estimate which generally outlines the job scope -Please cover and protect the floors that are good -Please close the front door after entering and exiting I"m all for old world charm and the benefit of a craftsman.....however, there needs to be a level of communication that is acceptable. Jerry certainly understood English well enough to put in the contract that he had a right to sue me, yet he didn't' understand the concept of a drop cloth??? It's too bad, bc I think that Jerry is knowledgeable and generally a nice person, but unable to communicate to an acceptable degree in which I felt comfortable proceeding. read more
