This was one of my most anticipated stops on the trip. I had heard a lot about Nauset Farms, Orleans and I have been waiting to compare it to either Wilson Farms (Lexington), West Falmouth Market (Falmouth) or Something Natural (ACK). Upon entry, I was surprised at how small the location was. I thought it would be bigger...but that is not a big deal. I entered in the front door and immediately made it to the side where the sandwiches were being ordered. One register and approximately 5 workers making sandwiches at a rapid pace. We ordered two sandwiches.....one was a chicken with garlic and herb spread and the second was a Roast beef with mustard and pickle on a sub roll. After paying, we waited for them to call our number. It was a good chance to browse the rest of the store. The meat section looked awesome....lots to choose from and the presentation was right-on! I did see the pies, which I read about, but we did not buy one. I am a big fan of apple pie so it took a lot to keep moving past the stacks of pies! There were many choices of craft beers throughout the store, as well. Our number was called in about 8-10 minutes, which is very reasonable considering how busy the store was. We went outside to eat at one of the many picnic tables. It was a beautiful day to enjoy a sandwich in such a great setting. The chicken with garlic and herb spread was first. I was not happy because I am not a fan of pesto. It was not what i thought I was getting. It was probably my own fault so there was not much I could do! We moved on to the Roast beef sub, which was excellent....great bread, Boars Head meat and just the right amount of yellow mustard Price was to be expected Parking was fine Service was on-time I gave 4 stars because I thought it would be better! What a heartbreak. I've been coming to Orleans for 35 years. Nauset farms (when I started going it was Fancy Farms) was my go-to for groceries, - sandwiches, wine, dips. Great meat counter (and butcher) and ritual coffee and breakfast sandwich and muffin daily. I'm guessing we spent $600-800 a week. A splurge for sure but we were on vacation and stay in Nauset heights/ Brick Hill road area. The supplies on the shelves are skimpy. The once fun and stocked bakery the same. Rarely fresh bread. Coffee selection thin, no more grind your own. Told today they no longer make my sandwich. (We're talking they have ham for sandwiches but not breakfast sandwiches). Owner could not have been more unfriendly or rude and his reasoning nonsensical. Yes he owns and can change whatever he wants, but he doesn't get the nature of experience people have with their annual VK spots so he has lost biz. Small thing but final straw. Mostly leaving for how unaccommodating he was. Left hungry and sad I've lost this fun tradition. ps. Not crazy about some of the changes under new ownership, but time will tell. They still have the best pie I've ever had. Even a friend, who is an accomplished baker, will occasionally buy a pie from Nauset Farms. Selection and variety have diminished, but service has improved. It would be great to see some unique items and fewer generic supplies, which are available elsewhere. Coffee has gone downhill. Ordered a dark roast coffee. It was weaker than Dunkin Donuts (which I avoid.) Poured it out when I got home. People wonder why Starbucks and Peets are so popular. It's because the coffee is so consistent and you can get a good cup of dark roast coffee. Viva corporate coffee. One bright spot: the place is open and you can go inside if you're wearing a mask. This used to be my favorite place for a delicious to go sammie. No longer. The over salting of the gobbler was inedible. Had to go straight to the trash. The other sandwich we ordered, "The north end"should have been a slam dunk but guessing they pre-prep the lettuce/tomato/onion etc bc it tasted cold and old. Little rhyme or reason to how lines are set up for the cashiers. Favorite customers are frequently allowed to cut in line. Checking out is a free-for-all interspersed with cashiers talking to each other or not present at all. The notion that this is a quick stop where one can pick up something forgotten at the local supermarket has no merit. Limited product choice and irreverent treatment of customers could spell disaster for a place that is only a shadow of the previous owner's store. Bring back Fancy Farms but keep the butcher who deserves better. read more

Since my last review, the Last Stop was rolled up into Nauset Farms - both the deli and the liquor store - so its one-stop shopping now. There's even a hot dog cart and lemonade stand outside. This all creates some massive chaos with the crowds coming in to load up for a day at the beach. The sandwich counter can be complete mayhem due to tourists and "bad orderers" alike - you may want to call ahead as the wait can be long. An army of sandwich makers is needed to handle the demand here. They have breakfast sandwiches now - the board is above the bakery area. The bakery oftentimes is completely barren due to high demand - but if you get there at the right time you can get your hands on some Iggys breads, home made desserts, and a variety of other great treats (seriously awesome muffins). The beer and wine area is a little sparse but coming together nicely. The food at the butcher counter is terrific. Everything is prepared in house - steaks, sausages, skewers, salads, oh my. There is a fair amount of parking - but an over abundance of overloaded SUVs, as well - so be careful. You'll find people leaving via the entrance and vice versa. It can be downright scary at lunch time. Tip - splurge on the lobster roll sometime. Yeah, its ($19) pricey, but it is gigantic - a full meal - even hard to finish for some. read more

We went there for lunch this weekend and it was a disaster. We ordered 2 cold subs to go and it took 30 minutes to get them. There were a slew of other very angry people waiting as well. They were completely disorganized and mismanaged. Orders were served all out of order, long waits, and worse, no attention to Covid precautions. They didn't restrict the number of people crowding into their order area. When I expressed my frustration about our order to the owner/manager working there at the time, she rudely told me there had been a mixup and that we had only waited 25 minutes...hardly the point and certainly not true. Been going to Nauset Beach all summer and this place was ALWAYS packed when we'd drive by. Wasn't sure if it was because of its location or food. Finally tried it today and was overall pretty good. Cute little store with some local products along with some everyday products, beer, wine, sandwiches, salads, meat market, sides market, bakery, pastries and more. I got the Nikkis special which was a chicken salad sandwich and it was a cool concept but needed a crunch. I added there homemade waffle chips to it and it was just what that sandwich needed! Those chips were also delicious. Red bliss potato salad was also good just needed some salt. My dad got the Italian and liked that. They do have gluten free bread as well. The salted caramel apple pie tart was SO good. Lemon square also good but could of used a little more lemon. So, honestly really cute shop, concept and food but a slight lack of seasoning/flavor across the board. Will definitely go back to try another sandwich and some more items from the bakery! read more

I LOVE Nauset Farms. We spend about eight months a year in East Orleans and whenever we look at each other and say "what do we eat" it is off to Nauset Farms. There is always something good to eat there - breakfast, lunch and dinner. One night while preparing dinner I realized I had no Panko crumbs and took a chance, headed to Nauset Farms and found them there. Amazing! Saved my dinner. The lobster rolls are belly bursters and we happily burst our bellies more often than we should. Summer there can be a bit nerve wracking for the regulars, but go at the right hours and you won't be sorry. You will be like me and make it a regular stop (maybe even more than regular).
